00:03:00He really takes it upon himself to represent this skin condition that he has.
00:03:03You know, I like to be different from everyone.
00:03:05You know, I like to be there and be there.
00:03:07He got it!
00:03:08Unbelievable performance!
00:03:09It's normal to be different.
00:03:11Jasmine Jazz Divisius journeys from small-town athlete to UFC stardust.
00:03:16I think it's fate meeting Chris led us here.
00:03:20She tagged!
00:03:20We had to meet in order for us to be on this path together.
00:03:27Aljamain Sterling makes a walk to remember in Shanghai.
00:03:30Aljamain Sterling wants to make everybody know how big of a threat he can be in this division
00:03:36of the weight class.
00:03:37And DeTable Gautier reflects on his explosive UFC debut.
00:03:41I love what I'm doing.
00:03:42You gotta be on high alert with this guy.
00:03:44I'm really different.
00:03:46Oh!
00:03:46Shoot, Steve!
00:03:49Brazil's Melquisei El Costa was diagnosed with vitiligo as a child and faced bullying and
00:03:55prejudice in his youth.
00:03:56But Costa transformed that negativity into motivation as an athlete, which got him to the UFC's featherweight
00:04:02division.
00:04:02Today, Dalmatian is the embodiment of resilience and self-acceptance.
00:04:07We take a closer look at his inspiring journey in this edition of Origins.
00:04:18So much to like about Mel Costa and everything that he has been through.
00:04:22He does have vitiligo, if you see some of the blotches on his skin.
00:04:26And there was a time in his life when he was living like an animal, avoiding human interaction.
00:04:30He's got it!
00:04:43了解OME!
00:04:44He's got it!
00:04:46I feel very different!
00:04:52It's normal to be different!
00:04:54We had a very heavy childhood.
00:05:02My father was pastor, so we traveled a lot.
00:05:05People thought that every pastor was granado.
00:05:08It was very heavy, you know?
00:05:10We would only get money when we would sell material.
00:05:17It was not more to sleep with a hunger,
00:05:19it was more to spend the day with a hunger.
00:05:22It was really terrible.
00:05:27With my 7 years of age,
00:05:30I started to grow more than my legs.
00:05:33I started to grow more than my legs.
00:05:37People were confused with Pano Branco.
00:05:41People were playing with my friend.
00:05:44My father came and took me away.
00:05:46He said,
00:05:47You know, this guy is a pain guy.
00:05:48This guy is just a pain guy.
00:05:50This guy is a pain guy.
00:05:54I saw my childhood when people reported it.
00:05:58People started to get away from me, and it started to affect me a lot.
00:06:07I had a immense awe of looking at the mirror, looking at the reflexes,
00:06:14because I didn't like to be different.
00:06:21I couldn't have friends, I hated everyone.
00:06:24I was like a beast, I didn't want to see anyone anymore.
00:06:29It was the worst phrase in my life.
00:06:34My mother said, you want to go to another place?
00:06:40It was when I went to Porro de Moes, the first time.
00:06:46When I came to Porro de Moes, I started thinking,
00:06:49nobody knows me here, I can be someone that nobody knows me,
00:06:54or I can do it differently.
00:06:56She said, I want you to have your childhood.
00:07:00I have friends, I'm not afraid to meet anyone,
00:07:06because my fear was to meet people.
00:07:07And it was when she called the people to come there,
00:07:12and there were 5 boys, I think.
00:07:16They came there and they were hugging me, you know?
00:07:20But in my mind, I was scared.
00:07:23I was like, they don't see me that I'm different?
00:07:25They don't see me that I'm in vitiligo?
00:07:26I'm in vitiligo and so on.
00:07:29It was the first friendship that I made, you know?
00:07:32That is the legend that I have to do today.
00:07:35And the struggle was also because of them.
00:07:39I was with everyone, everyone,
00:07:41and nobody, like, cagou for me
00:07:43if there was a different problem or not.
00:07:46It was when I found the academy for the first time,
00:07:48I wanted to be a fighter.
00:07:50He saw that he could be different from the way he was,
00:07:53but he could be accoled by the way he was.
00:07:59What brought me the attention to Mel,
00:08:02was the perseverance of him.
00:08:05I would imagine that he had this power
00:08:08to reach where he is today.
00:08:10It was realized in this situation with Mel.
00:08:19I started to focus on myself,
00:08:20but I couldn't focus on myself,
00:08:21but I didn't think that I could do anything.
00:08:25I was playing a football player,
00:08:27and I saw a player,
00:08:30and I thought it was a fan.
00:08:32Then I looked for him, Scott Johansen.
00:08:34Scott Younger Jorgensen!
00:08:39Scott, he brings him up and down.
00:08:41Nicely done!
00:08:43Big shot!
00:08:44And I saw that he was really an athlete who had a vitiligo in the UFC.
00:08:47I said, I think that I can be an athlete in the UFC, you know?
00:08:51That's when I really decided to go from foot and foot, you know?
00:08:56Let's go!
00:08:58Oh! Big left hand!
00:09:01That's it!
00:09:04When I finished the F.A., I always talk to him with him,
00:09:08I always talk to him, but I always talk to him.
00:09:10He called me, I said to him,
00:09:12He said, I want to know if you can be ready for the UFC Brazil.
00:09:16Mel Cazale Costa making his UFC debut.
00:09:19Having been to LIGO, he got inspired by Scott Jorgensen.
00:09:22Sometimes it's not just about the fighting.
00:09:24It's about all the other things you go through in your life
00:09:26that prepare you for the hard moments that you're going to face inside the octagon.
00:09:30I did my strike with Thiago Moisés, right?
00:09:32I knew that there was only a round,
00:09:33because I was training in the United States,
00:09:36but there's no training here, you know?
00:09:39I started to be slow, then the opponent was very prepared, very strong,
00:09:43and I ended up with him.
00:09:44He's in trouble now.
00:09:45There's the tap!
00:09:47I didn't see it as a defeat, you know?
00:09:48I saw that I had won the contract.
00:09:50In the second fight, the post-ling, I was ready.
00:09:52Mel Cazale Costa makes his return with a full training camp.
00:09:58Costa putting on a highlight reel.
00:09:59He looks tremendous.
00:10:01When I was young, my problem was to be normal, to be different.
00:10:05Oh, there it is!
00:10:06Oh, it's the tap!
00:10:08My problem was to be normal, you know?
00:10:10I like to be different from everyone, you know?
00:10:12I like to be there, to be there, to be there.
00:10:14The first time I made a painting, I was in Seattle.
00:10:18So, I said, I wanted to make a painting with Dálmata.
00:10:21Dálmata represents a lot of vitiligo, you know?
00:10:24The inter-a-pie.
00:10:25And now, the name, right?
00:10:27The name came out.
00:10:28His enthusiasm for competition is evident.
00:10:32This is the tougher the competition, the better I fight.
00:10:35When you look at the submissions that Costa has,
00:10:38you can get it done in a multitude of ways on the mat.
00:10:40André Fiel is in a lot of trouble here.
00:10:42Muitinaires to tap!
00:10:44That was a really standout performance there.
00:10:46Costa!
00:10:54These victories represent everything for me, right?
00:10:57Every fight, every fight I win, I feel that my duty was fulfilled, right?
00:11:03Always looking to continue inspiring those that feel like they're a little bit different.
00:11:08He looks the best he's ever looked.
00:11:21He looks the best he's ever looked.
00:11:23You can do it if you want.
00:11:24You can do it, you know?
00:11:25We're born to be a champion, right?
00:11:27That's what I want to do.
00:11:29Yeah!
00:11:30Costa!
00:11:37Jasmine Jazz Divisius grew up as a standout athlete, competing in soccer, swimming and track, just to name a few.
00:11:44But when she met Chris Prickett, her coach and future partner, she also discovered a passion for MMA.
00:11:50In this edition of Fighter Focus, we trace her rise to UFC stardom, exploring the pivotal moments that transformed her into a flyweight force.
00:11:58She wasn't a pro fighter until she turned 30 years old.
00:12:06It just wasn't in her plans at all until she met Chris Prickett.
00:12:10Chris was an MMA coach, and as Jasmine fell in love with him, she also fell in love with the idea of being a pro fighter herself.
00:12:16Prior to meeting Chris, I had very little martial arts knowledge.
00:12:23Chris's support was very important to me.
00:12:26Yeah, baby!
00:12:27I trusted him to keep me safe and guide me in the right direction.
00:12:32He made me the fighter that I am.
00:12:34Jasmine Jazz Divisius!
00:12:40I grew up in St. Catharines.
00:12:47Growing up, I was always very active in sports.
00:12:50I was a big tomboy.
00:12:52I did basketball and volleyball.
00:12:55I did rowing even one year.
00:12:57I was probably, like, top five in each sport, but I was never great at one particular one.
00:13:05I remember walking home from school one time.
00:13:08I was kind of just lost figuring things out.
00:13:12I had just quit my job six months ago doing that 9 to 5 thing.
00:13:17I just couldn't do it.
00:13:19And I remember just thinking, I would love to just play sports.
00:13:23I think that would be, like, the dream job.
00:13:26But I thought that there wasn't really, like, a way of becoming a professional athlete.
00:13:33During that time, one of my friends, she calls me and she says,
00:13:42let's go down to watch the fireworks.
00:13:45It's Canada Day.
00:13:46We end up going down the beach and my friend was meeting this guy and Chris was one of his friends.
00:13:53Chris and I started talking and hanging out and we got along very well instantly.
00:14:03There you are, guys.
00:14:04Enjoy it.
00:14:05Thank you, buddy.
00:14:07Chris was coaching in MMA fighters and I was intrigued by it, but I didn't know that you
00:14:13could become a professional fighter and make money and have this as your job and your life.
00:14:25Right around the end of my wrestling career, I got a job coaching at Brock University.
00:14:29I met some of the local MMA guys, so I started working with them, training them and coaching them.
00:14:35Chris invited me to come on a trip.
00:14:39He was cornering former UFC fighter Jason Sago.
00:14:43He's in training camp.
00:14:44This guy's all in.
00:14:45He's training every day.
00:14:48I obviously knew about martial arts.
00:14:50I had watched the UFC, but that was my first glimpse into what it's like to be a UFC fighter.
00:14:58They were sparring and I'm like, oh, let me spar.
00:15:01Jason, he was obviously just playing with me.
00:15:05But afterwards, he's like, you know, you have some natural ability.
00:15:08You should try doing this a little bit more.
00:15:10Between him and Chris encouraging me, I jumped right into learning the best techniques.
00:15:18Yeah, I love that look, Jess.
00:15:20Right hands loaded.
00:15:22Right legs loaded.
00:15:24From the first time she started training, she was serious about it.
00:15:28It didn't take long for her to get to the place where she was ready to take a fight.
00:15:37When I started training, I didn't think about the UFC.
00:15:40I didn't think about being a pro.
00:15:42I was just like, I want to take one fight and see what it's like.
00:15:46I'm going to prepare myself the best that I can possibly be and we'll see what happens on fight night.
00:15:51You saw another side of her.
00:15:53She's this bubbly, easy-going person and in the cage, she is violent and ruthless.
00:16:01It was really affirming she's doing the right work.
00:16:04It gave me confidence that I'm doing the right things as a coach, too.
00:16:09After discovering fighting, everything in life kind of gets turned down after.
00:16:15Everything is like it.
00:16:17The next goal became take a professional fight and she did that.
00:16:22It was like, oh, this is what she wants to do.
00:16:24She thrived with the crowd.
00:16:26She thrived with the pressure.
00:16:29It was at that point we were like, oh, we can really make a run at this.
00:16:34After two pro fights, I actually was like, okay, now the UFC is my goal.
00:16:43And here is the Canadian Jasmine Jazdivisius, a very circuitous route to mixed martial arts.
00:16:51She's 32 years old, made her pro debut a little over two years ago.
00:16:56Going to Contender Series, the stakes are so high.
00:17:01It's either you get a finish and win, and you're in the UFC,
00:17:06or you lose and you go back on the regional scene.
00:17:10I knew that this is it.
00:17:13First round, fight's on.
00:17:14And we are underway.
00:17:17Brazilians are always very athletic and talented,
00:17:20so I knew that I would have, like, a good fight on my hands.
00:17:24Big round for both of these fighters.
00:17:26Oh, wow.
00:17:27Good combination for Clyde Street.
00:17:32And look at that.
00:17:33Great takedown.
00:17:34That is huge for Jazdivisius.
00:17:40Usually, if you go to decision, then you're not going to get a contract.
00:17:45For your winner by unanimous decision, Jasmine Jazdivisius.
00:17:54The fight turned into an absolute war.
00:18:01I liked what I saw.
00:18:02We're going to give her a shot.
00:18:03Congratulations, Jasmine Jazdivis.
00:18:05All the hard work, everything I've done,
00:18:09it's like, in a moment, your life changes.
00:18:12Once I signed that contract, I was very active.
00:18:16My goal was just to become the best martial artist that I can possibly be.
00:18:22That was my mindset.
00:18:23Stay on top, Jazdivis.
00:18:24Darce!
00:18:25Darce!
00:18:26She tapped!
00:18:27Jasmine Jazdivisius!
00:18:29Oh, Canada!
00:18:31Having Chris as my coach,
00:18:34I think it's the perfect storm that contributes to my success.
00:18:39I don't know if it's ever been done before in such a short period of time,
00:18:43the rise that she's had.
00:18:45To me, it's like, it's almost a miracle that she's got this far.
00:18:48Oh, beautiful takedown.
00:18:51Let's go!
00:18:53Let's go!
00:18:55Got the Darce.
00:18:56She's got the Darce.
00:18:57Oh, Darce, yep.
00:18:58She's got it.
00:18:59That's tight.
00:19:00She's got that in tight.
00:19:01Oh, that's tight, yeah.
00:19:02There's the tack!
00:19:04Jasmine Jazdivisius, biggest fight of her career.
00:19:07She's in the white, former champ Andraja in blue.
00:19:10My ultimate goal is becoming world champion.
00:19:13I know she's capable of being a UFC world champion.
00:19:16I truly do.
00:19:17That sock in there.
00:19:18Yep.
00:19:19Oh, Darce.
00:19:20Oh, she tapped with the other hand!
00:19:22Five in a row for the putting flyweight contender!
00:19:25Flawless victory.
00:19:26Jasmine Jazdivisius!
00:19:32I think it's fate that a chance meeting led us here.
00:19:37My life went on a completely different trajectory.
00:19:41If I hadn't went and met Chris that night,
00:19:45I don't know what I would be doing.
00:19:47We had to meet in order for us to be on this path together
00:19:52and the relationship that Chris and I have built,
00:19:55it's unique and rewarding and fulfilling
00:19:58and just an amazing journey.
00:20:01Martial arts is something that can change someone's life.
00:20:05It did for me.
00:20:07We'll see you next time.

00:23:13You're working perfect.
00:23:14You're working perfect.
00:23:14You throw a good elbow on him.
00:23:15That's good.
00:23:16Yeah.
00:23:16Good job.
00:23:22If something inside triple, rip the leg.

00:24:16Aljamain Sterling wants to be among the featherweight contenders in the top five!
00:24:21What?
00:24:22How's shikey, my brother?
00:24:23How's shikey, my brother?
00:24:24How's shikey?
00:24:25How's shikey?
00:24:26You are wrestling?
00:24:27Shikey, my brother.
00:24:28Your boss.
00:24:29Your winner by unanimous decision...
00:24:31Aljamain!
00:24:33Fuck, Mr. Sterling!
00:24:39Still trying to make his way to the top of his new division.
00:24:43And his first action of 2025, successful as he goes five rounds.
00:24:50UFC middleweight Ateba Gauthier burst onto the scene with a stunning Contender Series TKO finish.
00:24:57He showcased that same explosive power in his UFC debut, proving he is built for the big stage.
00:25:03We sat down with the silent assassin to look back on the bout where it all began.
00:25:08Ateba Gauthier
00:25:12Training harder and more deliberately if this UFC dream becomes a reality is Cameroon's Ateba Gauthier.
00:25:18I used to normalize everything. As a Cameroonian, you can't really dream about being in UFC.
00:25:23For me, it was just a challenge.
00:25:24He is such an athletic specimen as well. When you watch him fight, you can just see this raw talent.
00:25:30I love what I'm doing.
00:25:32This raw power.
00:25:33I'm really different.
00:25:34That'll do it.
00:25:35That will do it!
00:25:36That will do it! Ateba Gauthier does it again!
00:25:40Before getting a call forward, then I would come to the Serie A forward in Tyson FC.
00:25:45Oh!
00:25:46Oh!
00:25:47Oh!
00:25:48Oh!
00:25:49Oh!

00:26:06Oh!
00:26:07Oh!
00:26:08Oh!
00:26:09Oh!

00:26:23Oh!
00:26:24Oh!
00:26:25Oh!
00:26:26Oh!
00:26:27Oh!
00:26:28The fight was not rushing things, just take my time.
00:26:31Nato, he is not intimidated at all.
00:26:33Andrew is going to go for wrestling.
00:26:35I know you're going to try to pledge.
00:26:37And this is the fight right here.
00:26:39Can Gutierre keep the fight on the feet?
00:26:41Andrew, he won't go to strike against me.
00:26:44Nato's at a massive size disadvantage.
00:26:47Oh, Lance, that is. He stops the takedown.
00:26:50In the fight, I see how he's acting.
00:26:53Every time when I define his takedown, he risk everything.
00:26:58Nice roll this time. Stuffs that takedown attempt.
00:27:01I'm going to use this moment to finish him.
00:27:04Big right hand.
00:27:05See the power from Gutierre.
00:27:07Oh, we got him!
00:27:09That's it!
00:27:10It finishes the fight.
00:27:12That's how you do it at Teba Gutierre.
00:27:14By TKO, Atapa Gutierre!
00:27:19Everything I've done before was good.
00:27:22But now everything's going to be real beginning.
00:27:24This dude is raw, talented, powerful, obviously very athletic.
00:27:30You're going to have a bright future in this sport, buddy.
00:27:32Come on over here.
00:27:33Atteba Gutierre, welcome to the UFC!
00:27:37From illusion to reality, I was so happy to go.
00:27:40I was so happy.
00:27:42Atteba Gutierre, excellency on the contender series, makes his debut tonight.
00:27:46My debut fight in UFC was in Mexico City.
00:27:50I was against Jose Medina.
00:27:53Has he done the work coming into this fight?
00:27:55Or will he even be tested to show the work that he has done from the contender series to now?
00:28:00When they come on there, my mind just switched.
00:28:02So I know what I have to do.
00:28:03You know, I'm going to hurt him.
00:28:04That's what I feel.
00:28:05Before the fight started, I didn't even care about his body language.
00:28:08I was just like, I'm the predator.
00:28:11He's my prey.
00:28:11I'm not the prey.
00:28:13Ready, fight!
00:28:15When the fight started, I started to do exactly what my coach asked me to do.
00:28:18Keep pushing, then give everything to finish him at the moment.
00:28:21You got to be on high alert with this guy.
00:28:23Already the jab is backing up Medina a bit.
00:28:25One moment I realized when I hurt him, he's laughing, he's smiling.
00:28:29I said, okay, I'm going to finish him.
00:28:31Medina is going to eat it until he can't.
00:28:33Oh!
00:28:34The sound!
00:28:34When I hurt him, he's going back.
00:28:36He's blocking himself against the cage.
00:28:38I said, I won't let you go this time.
00:28:40Medina's hurt.
00:28:41I just land heavy short, take the step back, and then land in me.
00:28:45Oh!
00:28:45Huge knee!
00:28:46That will do it!
00:28:48Atepa Gokie, welcome to the big show!
00:28:52The nut tower was beautiful.
00:28:54I knew it was going to happen this way.
00:28:56Atepa, the silent assassin, Gokie!
00:29:01As soon as I hear my name, I was so happy.
00:29:07I'm glad the debut is done now, so I can just keep going to the next step.
00:29:11I will grow and get into the ranking, and then get to the belt.
00:29:15I know I'm in the right place.
00:29:16I'll just keep doing what I love to do.
00:29:18Well, that's all for this episode, but we'll see you next time right here on UFC Connected.
00:29:25Thanks for watching.
00:29:26Thanks for watching.
00:29:26Thanks for watching.
00:29:55Since arriving on the scene three years ago through Dana White's Contender Series,
00:30:09the statements have only gotten louder.
00:30:12The taps have been coming more furiously than ever.
00:30:16There's the tap!
00:30:17Just like that!
00:30:18Wow!
00:30:19And the long-time standards of the welterweight division have begun to fall at his hands.
00:30:26And tonight, in his first main event, it's time for Brazil to stand up.
00:30:33Oh, this is trouble!
00:30:36Oh, got it!
00:30:38Gabriel Barnes' team in under a minute!
00:30:40The UFC is back in the epicenter of the fight world in Las Vegas, Nevada.
00:30:45And it's a rude awakening lying in wait.
00:30:49Oh!
00:30:51Benny Brown!
00:30:53A nasty New York menace who for a decade has stood in with the big guns of the division.
00:30:59Oh!
00:31:00Rude Boy Brown just put him out!
00:31:03Coming off a massive knockout his last time out that made one thing clear.
00:31:09Oh!
00:31:10Rude Boy!
00:31:14Stand with the Rude Boy and feel the heat rise.
00:31:19I'm too fast, too big, too slick, too good.
00:31:24I'm gonna be a problem for all these m******.
00:31:25First in a high-octane flyweight battle, it's a southern firestorm closing in on the desert.
00:31:32That is it!
00:31:33Match now!
00:31:34Oh, my God!
00:31:35The rally of all rallies!
00:31:37An ever-potent grappling ace who has recorded some of the best submission finishes over the last nine years.
00:31:45Going toe-to-toe with an all-action dynamo from California who is making good on his second stint in the UFC.
00:31:53He got it! He got it!
00:31:54Tapping into his full potential and ready to make a deep run in the division.
00:32:00There's no backing down when the lights come on.
00:32:03And at just 28 years old, the new breed has arrived in full.
00:32:09Ready to make the leap from prospect...
00:32:11To contender by taking out the gold standard of perseverance.
00:32:17It's it!
00:32:18There's the tap!
00:32:19The 25th veteran who is here to steal all the momentum with a fiery show of hands.
00:32:26Live from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, it's UFC Fight Night, Bon Fiend vs. Brown.
00:32:33And it starts right now.
00:32:35Under the bright lights of Vegas, the breakthrough stage awaits for the rising stars.
00:32:56This isn't just another main event.
00:32:57It's the proving ground where promise meets pressure.
00:33:00The Octagon stands ready to separate the hopeful from headline makers.
00:33:04Tonight, we witness the next wave.
00:33:06Fighters stepping out of the shadows and into the spotlight,
00:33:09hungry to claim their places among the elite.
00:33:12Elite skills is what Gabriel Bonfim has shown since he first fought in this building
00:33:16with a standout showing on the contender series.
00:33:19Many figured back then that big things were to come for the now budding contender from Brazil.
00:33:25He outlasted a former title challenger in his last outing.
00:33:27Does tonight provide another signal he's ready for the big time?
00:33:31Or does it go to Randy Brown, forged as a welterweight threat after years in the game fighting the best?
00:33:37For nine years, he swam with the Sharks at 170 pounds in the UFC.
00:33:42He's fought two opponents that would go on to become champions.
00:33:45But now with eight wins in his last ten tonight, could finally push him through to the next level of his career.
00:33:52We're live inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
00:33:56This is UFC Fight Night.
00:33:58Bonfim vs. Brown.
00:34:02UFC Fight Night is presented by Bud Light.
00:34:06Closed captioning is available for tonight's telecast.
00:34:09You can watch the broadcast in Spanish on ESPN+.
00:34:13Octagon side with Dominic Cruz and Paul Felder.
00:34:16Brendan Fitzgerald, happy to be with you for what should be an action-packed main card.
00:34:21And the theme of the night is rising newer contenders in big spots against guys who have been there and done that.
00:34:28That's the case in our top two fights.
00:34:30Sets the stage for a memorable evening.
00:34:32And the one that's going to open this card, Tulio and Leroy Duncan, do not sleep in this fight.
00:34:36Especially in the first round, Leroy Duncan's got some crazy moves in there.
00:34:40Yeah, I mean, there's a lot of fun fights that could be brutal finishes.
00:34:44I mean, we got the King of Kung Fu coming in here tonight as well.
00:34:47Some fantastic strikers.
00:34:48And as well, in that main event, it's really not going to be about grappling vs. striking.
00:34:53Bonfim has shown that he's a fantastic striker with good hands.
00:34:56And then on the other side, Randy Brown has shown that he's got good submissions as well from his back.
00:35:00This is a guy that can scramble.
00:35:01He's incredibly long.
00:35:02And the Apex, just time and time again, is the proving ground for these guys to go on to bigger and better things.
00:35:07A lot of drama last week, and we figure to have that as well.
00:35:09Here's the lay of the land, 6 through 15, at Welterweight.
00:35:13And there's a lot to be decided in the next few weeks.
00:35:16Ian Machado, Gary's in action.
00:35:17Michael Morales next week in New York.
00:35:20Of course, the championship next week in New York.
00:35:23So, there's a lot to determine for Gabriel Bonfim.
00:35:25He's in year three on the UFC roster.
00:35:27Wants to keep punching up toward those big names in the division.
00:35:30Oh, yeah. He's got nasty boxing that he uses with pressure.
00:35:33And what happens is he keeps landing this guillotine because he pressures so heavy and heads you off so heavy.
00:35:37The guys duck their head right into that guillotine.
00:35:40So, if he doesn't get that guillotine, he's got a nasty body lock sequence that he can drain you from the top position.
00:35:46And then when you get back to your feet, he gets back on the jab.
00:35:48He gets back on the body work.
00:35:49He gets back on the boxing.
00:35:50But he's got a slew of submissions that he can land from the pressure.
00:35:54When guys start trying to get away from it, they put themselves into his submissions.
00:35:58It's going to be fun to watch him adjust to a long, lanky, tarantula style of Randy Brown.
00:36:03Yeah, and Randy Brown, you want to talk about a guy who knows how to use his length and his reach.
00:36:07Sits behind that jab beautifully.
00:36:09And you see here, again, this is a guy that's not afraid to mix it up.
00:36:12He's taking the back.
00:36:13He's got submission skills of his own.
00:36:15He's got knees up the middle.
00:36:16And, again, in that last fight that we saw, he had to dig deep.
00:36:19He was getting pressured like crazy.
00:36:22He weathered the storm and came out with a vicious, vicious knockout here.
00:36:27Unbelievable power.
00:36:28And both guys just showing tons of heart and slapped him and made a huge statement.
00:36:33And now finds himself here in a big main event against a really charging up-and-comer.
00:36:38Strength of schedule experience lies with Randy Brown, who's been doing it for years.
00:36:42But Gabrielle Bonfim said he learned the best kind of lessons in a win over Stephen Wonderboy Thompson his last time out.
00:36:49Pretty hotly contested matchup.
00:36:51Gabrielle Bonfim, the betting favorite, with her pick on tonight's main event.
00:36:54We send it to Minty Betts.
00:36:56Thank you, Brendan.
00:36:57Having on the distance in only one of his UFC fights, I think it's safe to say that Gabrielle Bonfim is a dominant finisher.
00:37:03As for his opponent, Randy Brown, he is always a tough out.
00:37:06But his power, to me, is what makes him live for an early stoppage.
00:37:10A plus money, I've got to bet this five-rounder to end in under two-and-a-half rounds.
00:37:15And who doesn't like the sound of a nice early night here in Las Vegas?
00:37:18Looking forward to the main event taking place later tonight.
00:37:21Until then, Brendan, thanks to you.
00:37:24Thank you, Minty.
00:37:2429 combined finishes between them.
00:37:26One of two Bonfim brothers on the main card.
00:37:30We'll see Ismael Bonfim tangle with Chris Padilla.
00:37:34Dominic mentioned the middleweight fireworks that are set to come as we open things.
00:37:37And Muslim Salikov, not known for going the distance.
00:37:40Oroch Medich has never seen judges' scorecards.
00:37:44That's another anticipated welterweight matchup.
00:37:48Coming up from Las Vegas tonight.
00:37:51So let's get into it, shall we?
00:37:53First one's at 185.
00:37:55And wanting to capitalize on an explosive knockout.
00:37:58His last time out.
00:37:59Christian Leroy Duncan now setting his aims on cracking the top 50.
00:38:04He takes on Marco Tulio.
00:38:05Having established himself on England's regional scene as a certifiable thumper with bone-crushing power,
00:38:13Christian Leroy Duncan's reputation as a middleweight destroyer preceded him to the UFC.
00:38:18Now with knockouts of Dennis Tallulian, Claudio Ribeiro, and most recently Eric Anders,
00:38:25CLD has more than lived up to the billing as he steps in to face Brazil's Marco Tulio.
00:38:32With an unflinching willingness to stand in the pocket and throw hands,
00:38:36it turns out Tulio's contender series knockout of Matthew Duclos was a sign of things to come.
00:38:42And explosive finishes of Ihor Poutieria and Treshawn Gore have only made Matuto's stock keep rising.
00:38:50Coming up next, CLD, Christian Leroy Duncan.
00:38:55Battles, Marco Matuto Tulio.
00:38:59Well, he's got the 10-gallon hat on as he did yesterday at weigh-ins.
00:39:14Marco Tulio from Minas Gerais, Brazil, but now part of that squad that does a whole lot of winning.
00:39:20Shootbox under Diego Lima and Sao Paulo.
00:39:23Over my left shoulder, the legend, Charles Dubronx Oliveira, former opponent of yours, Paul.
00:39:29He's in to see his teammate.
00:39:30They got some momentum for his win back in Rio de Janeiro.
00:39:34Norma Dumont, who is the partner of one Marco Tulio, one in this building last week,
00:39:41wants to keep the momentum going tonight.
00:39:43Yeah, and this guy's a lot of fun.
00:39:44I mean, he's on a 10-fight win streak right now.
00:39:47He's a two-time Dana White's contender series vet and an absolute finisher.
00:39:51Every time he's in there, this guy's got 10 wins by KO.
00:39:55So you know exactly what the game plan is going to be.
00:39:58And then we talked to him this week, and for him to have somebody on the other side in Duncan
00:40:03who wants to mix it up on the feet, who is also creative with his striking,
00:40:08is only going to lead to absolute chaos inside of this octagon right now.
00:40:11Both these guys are fantastic strikers.
00:40:14Both creative, but again, in their own ways.
00:40:16I think Marco Tulio is a bit more of a thudding puncher, a bit more aggressive with his shots,
00:40:22whereas you're going to see a more elusive style from Duncan.
00:40:25And because of that, Tulio really talked about smashing the legs of Leroy Duncan
00:40:29because that's one way to get a guy from stopping, moving around, spinning, changing stances,
00:40:35crush those legs, batter those legs, then look for the knockouts upstairs.
00:40:39We've seen some fighters that have kept their momentum going
00:40:41and really turned it into high gear on the prelims.
00:40:44Marco Tulio looking for that as well.
00:40:46He's already won his first two UFC appearances both in 2025
00:40:50and looking to make it a hat trick to end the year.
00:41:01Out of Gloucester, England, here is Christian Leroy Duncan,
00:41:04UFC appearance number eight for the veteran middleweight.
00:41:07Says he's close to the top 15.
00:41:09He knows that there's a lot at stake between two promising prospects.
00:41:14Mentioned the ten wins by knockout for his opponent, Marco Tulio.
00:41:18It's nine by knockout for Christian Leroy Duncan.
00:41:21None bigger than when he stopped Eric Anders to get himself a bonus
00:41:24the last time we saw him here at the Apex just a few months ago.
00:41:26I mean, it's never really a tricky guess what Leroy Duncan needs to do each of his fights.
00:41:32He fights pretty much the same all the time.
00:41:34He wants to stay at distance, uses kicks to attack the body, attack the legs of Tulio.
00:41:38But more than anything, don't just get stuck on your heels the whole time.
00:41:42Tulio has a gift of heading off the octagon and using his power to land that right hand of his.
00:41:47Utilize knowing that Tulio's looking for the right hand and find the counter in between that.
00:41:53Use your footwork to get the angles and make sure he's definitely using his range to get the jab out there
00:41:59and get those kicks to land early on in this fight.
00:42:02I like knees for him as well in this matchup.
00:42:04We'll see if he can let it go.
00:42:05Yeah, and I just think he's got to be aware that those leg kicks are going to be coming at him
00:42:09because he's got more of a bladed stance the way that he fights and switching stances, changing angles.
00:42:13But in this smaller octagon, that footwork is going to be crucial, I feel like, for Leroy Duncan
00:42:18to be able to utilize this smaller space and cut angles, and he's fantastic at that.
00:42:23And again, the spinning attacks are always there for him.
00:42:25They're always dangerous, especially when you've got an opponent trying to stalk you.
00:42:35Welcome back.
00:42:35Here's your tale of the tape.
00:42:37Both middleweights known for the knockout.
00:42:39Christian Leroy Duncan and Marco Tulio kick off the main card.
00:42:43The Brazilian, one year older.
00:42:45Christian Leroy Duncan out of England is two inches taller.
00:42:48We highlight the sizable discrepancy in reach.
00:42:51Setting the table tonight in Vegas, Joe Martinez.
00:42:56Well, ladies and gentlemen, here we go.
00:42:59Live from the UFC Apex here in Las Vegas, Nevada.
00:43:03A very good evening and welcome to UFC Fight Night, Bonfim vs. Brown.
00:43:09And now, fight fans, we are set to go three rounds as scheduled in the UFC Middleweight Division.
00:43:16Introducing to you first, fighting out of the blue corner, a striker sitting six feet even.
00:43:21He weighed in officially 185 and one-half pounds and in 15 professional fights, holds a record of 14 victories
00:43:28with one defeat, fighting out of Sao Paulo, Brazil.
00:43:31Here is Marco Matuto Tulio.
00:43:41Aimed across the octagon, here is opponent in the red corner.
00:43:45This makes martial artists six feet two inches tall.
00:43:48He weighed in officially 185 pounds and in 14 professional fights, holds a record of 12 victories.
00:43:54With two defeats, he fights in a Gloucester, England.
00:43:57Here is CLD Christian Leroy.com.
00:44:05And your referee in charge is Mark Smith.
00:44:10Set for five fights on the main card, Vanessa Hanson on hand with us here in Las Vegas.
00:44:21Happy you are too.
00:44:23Marco Tulio has ten wins by knockout in his career.
00:44:27Christian Leroy Duncan has nine of his own.
00:44:29And this fight clock is brought to you by Bud Light, official beer sponsor of UFC.
00:44:37One of the bigger wins in the career of CLD.
00:44:39His last time out against Eric Anders.
00:44:41Took three and a half minutes, got him an extra 50K.
00:44:44Similar time went by Marco Tulio in his first round, knockout back in April.
00:44:48I can't stress enough, but you've got to watch that right hand of Tulio.
00:44:53I mean, it is powerful and he finds the timing on it and he's very accurate with it.
00:45:00Leroy Duncan is just extreme athleticism and unconventional movements.
00:45:07There's the spin.
00:45:08We talked about it on the walk.
00:45:09He is dangerous when he spins.
00:45:12Even with those leg kicks that Tulio is landing, sometimes they turn you into a spin attack,
00:45:17so he's got to be mindful of that.
00:45:19He ate that one, though, somehow.
00:45:20And that's what comes with that bladed stance like you were talking about, Felder.
00:45:23Like, having that stance has its perks and it also has its downsides,
00:45:27but, you know, Christian Leroy Duncan finds a way to make it useful over and over
00:45:33and always fun to watch, too.
00:45:34Yeah, because it's less of a turn, right?
00:45:36If you're more squared up when you're fighting, it's a longer way to go to turn around and spin,
00:45:39but when you're bladed already, your reaction time to that is in a second.
00:45:44Nice takedown here from Tulio, but he's definitely not accepting it.
00:45:49It's definitely the pack of least resistance and very smart.
00:45:52Get that initial athleticism and strength and speed out of Leroy Duncan right in the first round
00:45:57so that you've got a little less hippity-hoppity-ness to deal with.
00:46:01I mean, when the guy enters the opion, he does a crazy stuntman-type karate flip.
00:46:07Oh, look at...
00:46:08He busted his face.
00:46:11So we haven't been able to see it here, right?
00:46:13Tulio's been hiding it, perhaps strategically.
00:46:18Where's the cut?
00:46:19Right in the middle of the forehead?
00:46:20Yeah, that's a bit of a dent.
00:46:22It's definitely some swelling, but Tulio's still in there to swing.
00:46:25Oh, we've got to watch the fingers, guys.
00:46:28Oh, another elbow in close from CLD.
00:46:31You don't see CLD have this much pressure.
00:46:33This is impressive to watch.
00:46:36Yeah, we're usually seeing him a bit more elusive,
00:46:38and he flipped the strip king right at Tulio.
00:46:41Sure did.
00:46:41Totally different style from Leroy Duncan in this fight.
00:46:44Here's another one.
00:46:45He's very aggressive.
00:46:49It's fun to watch Leroy Duncan be this aggressive
00:46:51and make that adjustment, though.
00:46:52Usually he's usually on the back foot.
00:46:55This coach's game brought to you by Cuervo
00:46:57as we listen in on the Duncan corner.
00:46:59Drop your weight!
00:47:00Drop your weight!
00:47:01Drop your weight!
00:47:01He's looking!
00:47:03He's looking!
00:47:07I'm lifting up!
00:47:10I'm lifting up!
00:47:14Press it lower!
00:47:16Shoulders lower!
00:47:17Down lower!
00:47:21One of the pioneers of British MMA,
00:47:24Mark Weir, in the corner of CLD.
00:47:34Under two minutes to go,
00:47:35as Tulio has found his way
00:47:38to slow down the pace a little bit,
00:47:40but now Duncan able to reverse.
00:47:42Leroy Duncan looking for the same trip along the fence.
00:47:59Nice, dude.
00:48:10Keeping his balance here along the fence.
00:48:21Tulio chooses to break free.
00:48:23Duncan right back on him.
00:48:25Such different movement coming from Duncan.
00:48:33Time he over swung and Tulio takes advantage.
00:48:36Side control on the ground now in the final minute.
00:48:41Let's see if he can do something with it
00:48:42with 40 seconds left in the round.
00:48:46He can start to look for the neck here
00:48:48as Duncan tries to get up.
00:48:49Nice job peeking out there through the side.
00:48:53And back control on a takedown of his own.
00:48:56You know, Duncan has definitely made improvements
00:48:58in his grappling,
00:48:59and also just his choices
00:49:00and how he's choosing to, you know,
00:49:02attack the tactics of this fight.
00:49:05We haven't seen him with this much pressure,
00:49:06this much grappling,
00:49:07this much aggressiveness
00:49:08in a long time.
00:49:10Yeah, really showing just overall improvements.
00:49:15Then stepping over the mount,
00:49:16now taking the back.
00:49:17And this is stuff that we really haven't seen
00:49:19from Leroy Duncan in the past.
00:49:21He's looking great.
00:49:23I mean, they're both creating a great fight,
00:49:25but Leroy Duncan looks different.
00:49:26There you go.
00:49:38Sit for a second.
00:49:39Listen, listen, we got the best out of him already.
00:49:42We cannot be waiting for him anymore.
00:49:44We need to start making him walk backwards.
00:49:46You first.
00:49:46Oh, it's okay.
00:49:48Listen, he's got,
00:49:48except for like the spinning stuff,
00:49:50he's got nothing, okay?
00:49:51Pay attention.
00:49:52He's only just, listen,
00:49:54he is coming at you.
00:49:55You have to catch him.
00:49:56You have to catch him coming at you.
00:49:57And then continue with the combo.
00:49:59Make him walk backwards.
00:50:00All he does is just push it forward.
00:50:02Push it forward.
00:50:02He felt your hand.
00:50:03He felt the weight of your hand.
00:50:04He doesn't want to stay back.
00:50:06And after, he felt it, okay?
00:50:08He's going low.
00:50:09Body lock.
00:50:09You have beautiful takedown, man.
00:50:11Beautiful defense.
00:50:12Everything is so nice at the moment.
00:50:14You do so good job.
00:50:15Takedown, beautiful.
00:50:16Do the demo.
00:50:17Your versus was good.
00:50:18We take you down.
00:50:18Keep your frame, yeah?
00:50:19Let's go, brother.
00:50:20Watch your fingers first.
00:50:22Pogges, let's go.
00:50:23Just be careful of the fingers, okay?
00:50:24All right.
00:50:25Fingers up.
00:50:25Move back.
00:50:26Move back.
00:50:27Marco, watch your fingers.
00:50:34Welcome back.
00:50:35Ready for round two, Paul.
00:50:36Another look at this spinning elbow.
00:50:38And he's, for Tulio, he's almost lucky that it didn't land as flush as we thought originally.
00:50:44It could have been lights out.
00:50:45Able to withstand it, but a strong first round for the Englishman, Christian Leroy Duncan.
00:50:51And then still coming out, bouncing around, light on the feet.
00:50:54Just looking really good here tonight so far.
00:50:58Oh, my God.
00:51:03Oh, my God.
00:51:04Tulio standing his ground now, firing back here to start round two.
00:51:21That's what he's got to do.
00:51:22He's got to try to get some more respect going.
00:51:25Man, in these leg kicks, I like it, but he's got to try to hold him with the hands.
00:51:28Try to get his boxing going.
00:51:30But it's difficult to do that against Leroy Duncan.
00:51:35He's so creative.
00:51:37You never know when that spinning elbow is coming, when a sidekick to the face is going
00:51:41to be coming.
00:51:43Tulio's doing the right job of just pouring out the offense.
00:51:46So Leroy Duncan can't have all these creative movements.
00:51:49He's just got to pour the pressure on, like a bucket of water.
00:51:52Just keep pouring it on.
00:51:53It's just hard to do because of athleticism of Duncan.
00:51:56Looks like the left eye is bothering CLD.
00:52:01There's some blood leaking from it.
00:52:03Nice couple of left hands and the right for CLD, who's attacking again.
00:52:07He's stumbling with that right hand.
00:52:10Crazy war early on in this fight.
00:52:14Yeah, you know you're doing something right when you've got a guy in Tulio who's constantly
00:52:18trying to clinch, starting to look for takedowns over and over again.
00:52:26Yeah now he's bothering Duncan.
00:52:46let me go ahead yeah that eye is bothering duncan grabbing the fence there is tulio
00:52:59hands are locked for tulio and he's trying to mount some offense but
00:53:03stay in close so that duncan does not have the space to operate
00:53:07at the acrobatics yeah and that's the problem right you want to open up you want to hurt him
00:53:11but the second leroy duncan gets away from you it's like oh boy what's coming at me next
00:53:21they're being shown the replay it was a jab with marco tulio
00:53:28not sure if there was an eye poke involved with it duncan never really protested to
00:53:32mark smith to stop the action so fight on and now he's got outside position
00:53:41oh
00:53:47got out of the way of that back fist
00:53:56spinning back fist got him that time
00:53:58he's still laughing for it but
00:53:59tulio a danger
00:54:01oh
00:54:03christian leroy duncan does it again puts another knockout in vegas
00:54:08this holy cow he is out
00:54:15what an unbelievable attack for christian leroy duncan
00:54:20the spinning back fist started it in a thunderous knockout
00:54:26he is so dangerous with those spinning attacks you rush him you've got to close the distance but he
00:54:33so beautifully spins to a back fist and elbow could be a kick he threw a spinning hook kick that got him in trouble in that round
00:54:41but unreal
00:54:42now we'll look at tonight's blazing knockout moment brought to you by buffalo wild wings
00:54:47all right let's take a look here
00:54:50spinning back this right on the jaw
00:54:53sits him down for a second all keeps his feet but you can just take the look at his face know how badly that hurt him
00:54:59oh man he is so creative in there with those spinning attacks his wrestling was on point tonight
00:55:08then he starts letting his boxing go and look at that right hand just melts him this follow-up
00:55:13sealed it
00:55:15one more look here
00:55:17jab stiff jab there from leroy duncan
00:55:21clean straight down the middle big right hand and one more just to be safe
00:55:26what a 20-25 for christian leroy duncan he's won three fights
00:55:35this one as impressive as any in his career we'll make it official next
00:55:56is
00:56:06this one
00:56:08is

00:56:47UFC Fight Night is presented by Bud Light, who reminds you to drink responsibly.
00:56:56And in part by Buffalo Wild Wings.
00:56:59Let's go, Sports Bar.
00:57:02Back inside the Apex.
00:57:05Here's Joe Martinez to make this one official.
00:57:08Ladies and gentlemen, the end comes officially three minutes, 20 seconds of round number two.
00:57:12Your winner, by way of knockout, CLD!
00:57:17Christian Leroy Duncan!
00:57:22I'm here with the winner, Christian Leroy Duncan.
00:57:25Unbelievable performance.
00:57:27Not just with that beautiful finish we're going to have you take a look at, but your overall game tonight.
00:57:33Your wrestling, your takedown defense, everything seemed on point.
00:57:36Is this the kind of statement that you wanted to make tonight?
00:57:39100% is most definitely the statement that I want to make tonight.
00:57:43Tulio, first of all, thank you.
00:57:45Big respect to Tulio.
00:57:46Dangerous opponent.
00:57:48This guy hasn't lost in seven years.
00:57:5010-fight win streak.
00:57:51Coming here today, you put my way in the second round.
00:57:54I think that puts us in a great position to potentially get to a top 15 matchup.
00:57:59Next year, London 0-2.
00:58:01I think that could be a crazy, crazy opportunity there.
00:58:04So if it's there, I'm ready to take it.
00:58:05If not, we keep moving.
00:58:06But yeah, this is the statement I wanted to make today.
00:58:08It was a major statement.
00:58:10The spinning attacks were on display like crazy.
00:58:13Let's take a look up at the big screen.
00:58:15Earlier, it was the spinning back elbow along the fence and then the spinning back fist.
00:58:19You hurt him badly.
00:58:20Did you know exactly how bad he was hurt?
00:58:22Because you went in for the kill with an unbelievable right hand, Christian.
00:58:26Yes, sir.
00:58:27After I caught him with a back fist, I seen him drop.
00:58:29I seen him lose a step.
00:58:31So I just had to follow up and put him away.
00:58:34But man, what a tough guy.
00:58:36And a great fight.
00:58:36And what has changed for you in the last couple of years?
00:58:40I mean, you came in here tonight and just looked like a ninja, if I had to put it in any kind of word.
00:58:45You were moving around light on the feet.
00:58:47But again, you were looking for takedowns of your own.
00:58:49You were scrambling on the feet.
00:58:50What statement do you have the rest of the division based on how you look tonight?
00:58:55I'm developing and I'm evolving at a fast rate.
00:58:59I'm becoming more and more dangerous with each fight.
00:59:01Month to month, more dangerous.
00:59:03I'm refining my skill set now.
00:59:04And I've had the tests in the past that have brought me to this level now.
00:59:07And I feel like the sky's the limit.
00:59:09We keep moving forward and evolving.
00:59:11And yeah, man, there's going to be a problem here.
00:59:13I look forward to the future and look forward to more fights.
00:59:16That's here for your winner, Christian Leroy Duncan.
00:59:18Well, perhaps another 50K is heading his way, as it did in August when he took out Eric Andersen round one.
00:59:25He goes into the second round and he said this fight is two dangerous guys on the come up, headed towards having a number next to their name.
00:59:33He might have one or he might be able to fight an opponent with one.
00:59:36And very shortly, he's won five of his last six.
00:59:40Ten wins by knockout for CLD.
00:59:44Well, Raquel Canuto is in the building.
00:59:46She'll take on Aurelie Laverne in the first ever UFC BJJ Women's Title Fight in the featured bout of UFC BJJ 4.

01:00:15Under the glare of championship gold and the weight of legacy, the stage is set for a monumental collision.
01:00:21Valentina Shevchenko has guarded her throne with near perfection.
01:00:25She has been the standard, the benchmark, the test so many contenders have failed to pass.
01:00:31But now a new kind of challenge.
01:00:32A champion in her own right stands across.
01:00:34Zhang Weili has made history before.
01:00:36Next week in New York, wants to do it again.
01:00:39The movie story is brought to you to the weight ofρχies, the performance, the weight of the belt.
01:00:42What about your performance?
01:00:42Well, if you're ready to go to the tournament.
01:00:43The performance?
01:00:44To do it again.
01:00:46It's not a difficult time for me.
01:00:48Because I have seen a lot of reality.
01:00:50When I first got to the victory, I said to me, I said to me, I would want to go to Valentina.
01:00:56He said it's not time to go to the tournament.
01:00:57It's six years ago, I said to be clear.
01:00:59I think it's a good thing to go to the tournament.
01:01:02I am a built-in-stirking, the key team.
01:01:03And I think I am a built-in-stirking.
01:01:04No one knows what you've got to prove, I think I'm better than you are.
01:01:09Wei Li is really starting to show why she's the best in the world.
01:01:12Inside trip.
01:01:13Oh, take out by Wei Li.
01:01:15It strikes from Zhang Wei Li.
01:01:18I won the match, but Tadiana is very strong.
01:01:21Before we won, she never won.
01:01:24Oh, what a performance.
01:01:28I think it's a surprise for me, so I have to win.
01:01:35Zhang Wei Li is special.
01:01:37Every fight that she steps in and partakes in, she just gets better and better.
01:01:41The consensus greatest strawweight fighter of all time.
01:01:47Seventeen time world champion.
01:01:49And I am training and fighting on top level for 32 years.
01:01:54One of the greatest mixed martial arts athletes of all time.
01:01:57Man or woman, Valentina Bullard, Shevchenko.
01:02:01In my career, everyone was challenging me.
01:02:04And I'm here to take the challenge and to show you just all my skills inside of the octagon.
01:02:12Huge counter and a knockdown for Shevchenko.
01:02:16What a dominant performance.
01:02:18This woman is fantastic.
01:02:19She really is something truly special.
01:02:22I respect all my opponents.
01:02:24And now my next challenge is Wei Li.
01:02:27And she is an amazing fighter.
01:02:29But I'm not here to praise my opponents.
01:02:33I'm here to beat them.
01:02:35Go there, win the fight, and have my belt.
01:02:37Oh!
01:02:38She buzzed right through her.
01:02:40Is there anyone who has anything for her at 125?
01:02:44Don't waste your time. There is no one.
01:02:46This is a real super fight. You don't get that very often.
01:02:56I cannot wait for this one.
01:02:57The whole world can't wait to see this.
01:02:59If you like mixed martial arts, you're tuning into that fight.
01:03:02Because it's the two greatest female fighters in the sport today.
01:03:07I think Valentina is my opponent.
01:03:11I think this is a match.
01:03:14I think this is a match.
01:03:15She's got it. That's it.
01:03:16Zhang Wei Li is just that good.
01:03:18She does everything right.
01:03:19Because all she has been is dominant.
01:03:21Being number one pound-per-pound fighter, it means a lot for me.
01:03:26And it's responsibility to keep that sport for like a long time, for many years.
01:03:32Oh my god.
01:03:34She is out cold.
01:03:36Her striking is so sharp.
01:03:38Just a different planet to the people that are challenging her.
01:03:42Actually, I'm very excited to be able to play with Valentina.
01:03:46Because I also want to show a different face.
01:03:48I want to show a different face.
01:03:50Oh!
01:03:51Spinning back fist!
01:03:52More Theo-Jacek!
01:03:53Woo!
01:03:54Oh my god!
01:03:56Wow!
01:03:57That is a truly special athlete.
01:04:00No matter what I have to do, I will fight till the end.
01:04:04And I will look for a finish as soon as I am inside of the octagon.
01:04:09And if we can play this match, I'm very happy.
01:04:12I hope this match will be very successful.
01:04:15It's all right.
01:04:19Living legends, future Hall of Famers on both sides of the equation.
01:04:24But they are still adding to their championship legacies.
01:04:27Only one will rise further up this list for Valentina Shipchenko.
01:04:32Turning back Zhang Wei Li would tie her with Amanda Nunez for the most title fight wins in UFC women's history.
01:04:39Zhang Wei Li wants to inch closer to double digits.
01:04:45Paul Felder, what a matchup we have.
01:04:47And Valentina Shipchenko flexing that championship experience against Manon Fjord back in May.
01:04:53Zhang Wei Li wants to do it to Zhang Wei Li.
01:04:55I love Valentina Shipchenko so much.
01:04:57So I tried to convince my wife at one point, maybe we should name one of our daughters Valentina.
01:05:01I'm not even joking about that.
01:05:02This woman is special.
01:05:04And it's because she just can mix it up wherever she needs to to win the fight against any particular opponent.
01:05:10She's an unbelievable striker.
01:05:12She's got speed that's unbelievable to deal with.
01:05:16She can grapple you.
01:05:17She can wrestle you.
01:05:18She can take you down.
01:05:19She's so much fun.
01:05:20But then we got Zhang Wei Li, which is no stranger to speed, athleticism, and prowess on the pressure.
01:05:28Look at how she goes.
01:05:29Body, head here.
01:05:30Switches to the inside trip against a former Olympian wrestler.
01:05:34She's got arm bars here from the bottom.
01:05:36Very good at finding the gaps in people's games and adjusting.
01:05:40And power in her hands is, I think, what slept on.
01:05:43As we saw here against Janjacek, she did great things against one of the Polish greats.
01:05:48And as you see here, with many titles, she's very, very hard to beat.
01:05:52Looking to make more history is Zhang Wei Li.
01:05:55She became the first champion from Asia and from China back in 2019.
01:06:00She looks to join Amanda Nunes as the only woman to hold championships in two different divisions.
01:06:05High-stakes matchups.
01:06:07Legendary fighters next week in New York City.
01:06:09It all leads to the welterweight title fight between Jack Della Maddalena and Islam Makachev.
01:06:14UFC 322 from the Big Apple in a week.
01:06:18Lightweight's coming up next.
01:06:19We send it to Minty Betts, who has a pick on the action.
01:06:22Thanks, Brendan.
01:06:23Both Ismail Bonfim and Chris Padilla have gone to the scorecards once in the UFC.
01:06:27That's a combined finish rate of around 70%.
01:06:30And at minus 120 for this fight not to go to the distance,
01:06:33Authmakers are implying just a 54% chance.
01:06:36That number seems short to me and even more tempting with Bonfim missing weight.
01:06:40Then this one ends inside the distance.
01:06:42So let's get a finish.
01:06:43You won't want to miss the lightweight showdown next on ESPN+.

01:07:00...
01:07:04...
01:08:09Unlike the western side of the island.
01:08:11And right now there's people that are misplaced only because, you know, their homes are washed away.
01:08:17Streets that used to be there are now riverbeds.
01:08:20Infrastructure is down really bad.
01:08:22Trees are down.
01:08:23Power lines are down.
01:08:24So there's no electricity.
01:08:25There's no service, cell service.
01:08:27So at this time, you know, they really need some help.
01:08:30The people of Jamaica are extremely resilient.
01:08:33You know, we're proud people.
01:08:34We are happy.
01:08:35You know, we're just happy for life.
01:08:37We find the positive in any negative.
01:08:40So everyone is coming together all over the island.
01:08:43And it's the most I've seen the island unite.
01:08:46And I'm very proud of that.
01:08:47And everyone's stepping up and helping each other.
01:08:49Well, Brown's heart heavy during training camp with Hurricane Melissa devastating Jamaica.
01:08:58Our hearts go out.
01:08:59If you'd like to be interested to help, Randy Brown Foundation.
01:09:03That is the support effort that he is leading.
01:09:07And he's incredibly proud of that effort.
01:09:10He'll need a big effort tonight in the Octagon as well.
01:09:13Up next, though, we shift our focus to the lightweight division and looking to put on an encore performance after the biggest win of his career.
01:09:20Los Angeles fighter Chris Padilla has a chance to make some serious noise at 155 against Isfael.
01:09:26Showing no sign of Octagon jitters in his UFC debut in 2024, Southern California's Chris Padilla arrived on the lightweight scene in a big way with a first-round rear-naked choke of Hamas Yontap.
01:09:41And has since solidified himself as a force to be reckoned with after subsequent victories over Rongju and Chai Herbert.
01:09:48Now, Taco Padilla is looking to run his overall win streak to seven against the ever-dangerous Ismael Bonfim.
01:09:58Forming one half of the best sibling tandems with his younger brother Gabriel, Mahetta followed up a memorable showing on the Contenders series in his official debut with a flying knee knockout of Terrence McKinney.
01:10:10Coming up next, Chris Taco Padilla faces off with Ismael Mahetta Bonfim.
01:10:19Back in 2022, Ismael Bonfim joined his brother Gabriel on Dana White's Contender Series.
01:10:42They both won their fights and won UFC contracts that night.
01:10:45This is his fifth UFC appearance, but let's get the negative out of the way.
01:10:49He missed weight by a sizable amount.
01:10:52He tipped the scales at 161 pounds just a few minutes after 9 a.m.
01:10:57So that doesn't look great.
01:10:59Obviously, he can make things better by emerging victorious.
01:11:02He's got a tough test in Chris Padilla on the other side.
01:11:05Well, the reason it doesn't look great, Brent, is because at 9 a.m., that means you essentially just said,
01:11:09Screw it.
01:11:10I'm going to give up on cutting the weight.
01:11:11I'm just going to say come in heavy, and everybody knows that, and he knows that.
01:11:17But he was willing to do that, to come in a little heavier and just keep what energy he wanted to keep.
01:11:21But that's why we all make the decision to cut weight, is to have the advantage and to have the respect for the opponent to make it.
01:11:28He will have to make the adjustments in this fight against Padilla, though, because Padilla took it without caring.
01:11:33He said, Ah, it's all good.
01:11:34Give me the extra money.
01:11:35I'm going to beat this guy anyways.
01:11:36But the respect there that Bonfim was missing to make the weight is what Padilla needs to use to his advantage.
01:11:46He needs to just press him, show him he doesn't care, mix in the wrestling and the striking that he always does.
01:11:52And I think Bonfim is going to want to use his boxing, mix in his own takedowns.
01:11:56This is a mirror match.
01:11:56I think it's going to be awesome to watch nonetheless, though.
01:11:58On the other side, Chris Padilla, who did not bat an eyelash in terms of saying yes to the matchup.
01:12:123-0 in the UFC, Heidi Andra, octagon side.
01:12:15Got to love the commitment he had.
01:12:16He said, I don't care how much he missed weight by, I'm fighting tomorrow night.
01:12:19No, in fact, he was standing there watching Bonfim step on the scale.
01:12:23He said to me yesterday, it doesn't matter.
01:12:26And you guys have talked about that.
01:12:27He's built his career with quiet confidence.
01:12:30He's 30 years old.
01:12:31He's fully aware and willing to pay in blood.
01:12:34I spoke to his coach, Chris Cully, backstage just a moment ago, and he said, hey, we saw Bonfim in the elevator before the weigh-in when we were cutting.
01:12:43He was joking with us, in fact, harassing us, even sneezed on us, like jokingly.
01:12:47He said, you got too much bravado.
01:12:49If you're doing that, you're supposed to be cutting weight.
01:12:52He said, it's okay.
01:12:53They prayed that he's 100% because they planned to go out there and brutalize him for the guys who could have been there and made weight.
01:13:01They said the key is simple.
01:13:02Block out the noise, pressure early.
01:13:04In fact, put the gas tank, you know, put your foot on the gas tank even more because he missed.
01:13:09And go out there and impose his will before his opponent can find any rhythm.
01:13:12Yeah, and that's exactly what I expect him to do.
01:13:15You know, sometimes you find motivation when your opponent pisses you off like that.
01:13:19You've still got to find a way to control it, but you've got to use that aggression and that hatred towards him and go out there and make him pay just like Padilla's talking about.
01:13:27He's got the skills to do that.
01:13:29This guy, he's got a really good job.
01:13:30He's long, he's great.
01:13:32The way he fights.
01:13:33And he can mix it up.
01:13:34If he wants to try to take this fight to the ground, he can.
01:13:36He can close the disses, use the clinch, elbows, knees, and I expect him to look for a lot of that.
01:13:41Look for the weapons that are going to cut, for the weapons that are really going to brutalize.
01:13:46Got sneezed on?
01:13:48Yeah.
01:13:50That's all?
01:13:54Not COVID friendly.
01:13:57Welcome back.
01:13:57Here's your tail of the tape.
01:13:58A lightweight matchup is ahead.
01:14:00Chris Padilla, one year older than Ismail Bonfim, who's the older brother of Gabriel Bonfim in the main event.
01:14:06But later, Padilla an inch taller.
01:14:07We highlight the weight missed by a wide margin.
01:14:09Ismail Bonfim came in five pounds north of the 156-pound limit.
01:14:14Two and a half inches in reach lies with the American out of California.
01:14:19Here's Joe Martinez.
01:14:21And here we go, ladies and gentlemen, our next fight tonight.
01:14:24Three rounds in the UFC Lightweight Division.
01:14:27Introducing to you first, fighting out of the blue corner.
01:14:30A boxer standing five feet, eight inches tall.
01:14:32He weighed in over the lightweight limit at 161 pounds.
01:14:35And in 25 fights, holds a record of 20 victories.
01:14:39With five defeats, fighting out of Brasilia, Brazil.
01:14:43Here is Ismail Marjeta Bonfim.
01:14:51And across the octagon, his opponent in the red corner.
01:14:55This makes martial artesans five feet, nine inches tall.
01:14:58He weighed in officially 155 pounds and holds a record of 16 victories.
01:15:03With six defeats, fighting out of Gardena, California.
01:15:07Here is Chris Tagopadilla.
01:15:11And your referee in charge is Chris Tagopadilla.
01:15:19Chris Tagopadilla's been a busy man tonight.
01:15:21His first assignment on the main card comes at lightweight between Chris Padilla and Ismail Bonfim.
01:15:27Chris Padilla, perfect in the UFC so far.
01:15:33Here we go, boys.
01:15:343-0.
01:15:35His last one coming.
01:15:37A victory in March over Jai Herbert on the road in England.
01:15:41Much closer to his home in Southern California tonight.
01:15:45Padilla's in white, Bonfim's in yellow.
01:15:48Bonfim looks the best when he gets that jab on.
01:15:51He's really good when he gets that jab landed.
01:15:53He connects everything to it.
01:15:55Very good boxing.
01:15:57Looked like almost a clash of heads and then almost an accidental groin strike.
01:16:02Bonfim trying to time a big right hand.
01:16:12Bonfim dangerous with his hands.
01:16:16Great defense there.
01:16:17Padilla checking kicks.
01:16:19He's got his hands up high.
01:16:20I think the fight IQ, Padilla, is his best attribute.
01:16:23He lives, eats, drinks, breathes this sport.
01:16:26He's obsessed with it as he talks about himself.
01:16:28You know, you think everybody's like that, but we're not all like that.
01:16:31Some of us, that's not all we care about.
01:16:34This guy, that is literally it.
01:16:36You can see it when he fights.
01:16:39Now the hope of that lead left hand there.
01:16:43Bonfim is thrown with bad intentions in return.
01:16:45Yeah, Bonfim has fireworks in those hands.
01:16:57He really does hit hard.
01:16:58And that extra weight that he's bringing into this is going to help with that power.
01:17:02Super high guard there from Padilla.
01:17:26Guys, watch your fingers, please.
01:17:28He knows the early power of Bonfim is coming.
01:17:30Both fighters, watch your fingers.
01:17:36Three minutes to go, round one.
01:17:38Padilla really going after the legs now.
01:17:40Now you're seeing Padilla keep Bonfim on that back foot.
01:17:56That's going to be key.
01:17:58Takes away any of the rhythm and the timing for Bonfim.
01:18:01He wants to be moving forward.
01:18:02He's not a very particularly great fighter with his style moving backwards.
01:18:05I think Padilla knows that, so he's taking that early onslaught of his good defense.
01:18:11Some support in the building for Taco Padilla.
01:18:19Oh, not an email.
01:18:21Right shoulder, Taco.
01:18:23There you go.
01:18:26Body lock strong.
01:18:27He left my leg.
01:18:30Little leg up there.
01:18:31Right.
01:18:33Watch that load twice.
01:18:34That was a heavy knee to that guy.
01:18:44See if Padilla can try to trap these arms or the wrists and start to look for elbows.
01:18:53Don't grab the gloves.
01:18:57He's got to be careful with those knees.
01:18:58I like that he's going to the thigh, but you don't want to make it illegal.
01:19:01Each of them get close.
01:19:02He's looking to spin, Taco.
01:19:05Be careful.
01:19:08Watching the break.
01:19:11Padilla just grinding on the fence.
01:19:13Come on, Joel.
01:19:15Don't fall, don't fall.
01:19:16Hold on, hold on.
01:19:18Keep tight.
01:19:19Hold on.
01:19:21Don't fall.
01:19:22One minute.
01:19:23Don't waste the strength, Ismael.
01:19:25Don't waste the strength.
01:19:27One minute, Marcelo.
01:19:28One minute.
01:19:30You can't take your hands.
01:19:32I'll try three now, to win a round.
01:19:34Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:19:35Little bump, and you got that hands.
01:19:37Little bump, get those hands crossed.
01:19:39Yeah.
01:19:40Use the right legs.
01:19:42final minute round one bonfim with nowhere to go padilla's winning the underhook war here on the
01:19:47fence so he's just pummeling a little better notice he's always underneath the armpits of
01:19:51bonfim instead of over the top of the arms and then the head position is always on the inside
01:19:55those are the key details that are keeping bonfim flat against the fence not really able to move he
01:20:01doesn't want to be here but he is making great movements with his under hooks and his head
01:20:06position yeah you see and always readjust right anytime he gets his head too far off to the side
01:20:14there's a pummel from bonfim and when his section gets under hooks he changes the position that under
01:20:19the floor is everything on the fence great take down there to get that body
01:20:27tried to jump into a submission instead lands some big punches
01:20:30two seconds to go in round one second round coming up
01:20:38blue over here you good you need to sit you're good standing i'm good okay i need you to uh look for
01:20:46good detachments so you don't get stuck there too long so you'll get your breath back let's get him
01:20:48some water here let's get him some water i need good detachments that was a that was a round i don't
01:20:53like i like you more active here i like you throwing your punches and elbows inside i like you moving
01:20:56him around don't chase you're going to see some leg trips and be careful on the break he's all he's
01:21:01looking to do is to reverse or sprawl on the break spin or sprawl okay he ain't trying to engage with
01:21:07you you have to answer with this just a little cross then go up just jab jab and then come out and just
01:21:14strike again look pay attention don't don't let him get the kill that kicks make him
01:21:23let me miss jab jab come out and strike okay jab jab come out and strike
01:21:28let's go coach
01:21:41check out espn's mma show good guy bad guy with daniel formier and chill sonnet you can watch it on youtube
01:21:46espn tv plus and listen to wherever you get your podcasts dc and shell every monday and thursday
01:21:51don't miss it second round things really heated up in the final 10 15 seconds there around one when
01:21:58bonfim escaped nearly locked in a submission attempt but padilla was out of it
01:22:13so you uh you can see bonfim wants to land that jab but the cap kicks of padilla are really taking
01:22:33away that option so that's why you see padilla keep attacking that cat kick it'll take away the rhythm
01:22:38finder it's a smart move now he's got it for all power outs like this that's a good leg kick there
01:22:48in the boxing when bonfim lets his hands go it's something to see and i love that he mixes up the
01:22:54levels rips to that body but yeah it's when he's in close that he's doing his best work out here you
01:22:59can see like you talked about tom padilla doing a good job timing that cap gets his way out of there
01:23:04five look bottom left of your screen is gabriel bone theme who's getting ready for the main event
01:23:10later but watching his older brother here working round two against chris padilla
01:23:20oh three piece what a nice combo
01:23:27getting elbow padilla able to duck away from that
01:23:30he's just very calm in his approach you can see he's very confident and hey just let him keep
01:23:39throwing at my guard i'm just going to keep chopping at his legs it will pay off as the fight moves on
01:23:45i'll keep pouring the pressure you can just see he knows he's sticking to his game plan he knows what
01:23:48he's doing and he's fighting a smart fight he's keeping that guard extremely high taking a lot of these
01:23:57shots on the arms that's why i think you're seeing bonfim try
