The House passed a bill Wednesday to end the nation's longest government shutdown, sending the measure to US President Donald Trump for his signature after a historic 43-day funding lapse that saw federal workers go without multiple pay checks, travelers stranded at airports and people lining up at food banks to get a meal for their families.

00:23This was a no-brainer. This was an easy extension, but they didn't want to do it the easy way.
00:35They had to do it the hard way. They look very bad, the Democrats do.
00:38I want to also thank the eight Senate Democrats who finally did the right thing in voting to end
00:44this craziness, this madness. But unfortunately, the vast majority of congressional Democrats were
00:50happy for millions of Americans to suffer. They really did suffer, too.
00:55So I'm always willing to work with anyone, including the other party.
00:59We'll work on something having to do with health care. We can do a lot better.
