00:01Mr. President, like many Americans, I was saddened to learn this morning of the death of former Vice President Dick Cheney.
00:08Dick was a lifelong public servant who believed very deeply in our country
00:13and brought his considerable knowledge and intelligence to its service.
00:18As Secretary of Defense and later as Vice President, he played a key role in shaping policy on many of the most consequential issues of his day.
00:26He was also an avid outdoorsman and fly fisherman who loved spending time in the mountains of his home state.
00:34I enjoyed having him in South Dakota and showing off some of what our state has to offer.
00:41Mr. President, my thoughts and prayers today are with his wife Lynn, with his two beloved daughters and with his seven grandchildren.
00:49This morning, Wyoming mourns the passing of Vice President Dick Cheney.
00:55His career has few peers in American life.
00:59He was a high school football team, my hometown of Casper, Wyoming, with the Neutroni County High School.
01:06He was White House Chief of Staff for President Ford.
01:10He represented Wyoming in Congress for 10 years and actually served as the Republican Whip in the United States House of Representatives,
01:18served as Secretary of Defense for our nation and was Vice President of these great United States of America.
01:25His unflinching leadership shaped many of the biggest moments in domestic and U.S. foreign policy for decades.
01:32Dick is going to be remembered as a towering figure who helped guide the course of history, certainly in Wyoming and also in the United States and of course around the world.
01:43My prayers are with his wife Lynn, with daughters Liz and Mary and with his grandchildren as they celebrate this incredible man.
01:51Dick Cheney lived a life of service to his country.
01:58He was a bit of a political bug biting him very early in his life and he was committed that entire life to public service.
02:14He served as White House Chief of Staff under President Ford.
02:21He was a congressman for the people of Wyoming.
02:26He was the 17th Secretary of Defense and the 45th Vice President of the United States.
02:36Dick Cheney was a part of American history for more than five decades.
02:43Barbara and I will pray for Dick's family as they mourn the loss of a beloved family member.
02:53That's of America.
