Rep. Adelita Grijalva, D-AZ, signed a discharge petition to eventually trigger a vote to release files related to Jeffrey Epstein, giving it the needed 218 signatures.
Transcript
00:00Speaker Johnson purposefully obstructed my swearing-in by cancelling vote after vote.
00:06And the Epstein files discharge petition sat one signature short. With my signing,
00:12we move one step closer to the truth, the truth that they will try to deny,
00:18but that survivors deserve their day of justice and the American people demand it.
00:25We also stand on the eve of another vote that shows how little Republicans understand working
00:31families. They've already passed a bill stripping health insurance for more than 15 million people.
00:37Now they're pushing one that will send premiums skyrocketing for 22 million more.
00:43These attacks fall hardest on vulnerable communities, especially Latino children who
00:48rely on Medicaid and CHIP because their parents work jobs without employer-provided coverage.
00:53But the Congressional Hispanic Caucus understands what's at stake,
00:58and we will stand together to defend families, protect our democracy,
01:02and demand accountability from those who abuse power.
01:05And finally, my overwhelming election in Arizona sends a clear message. This nation,
01:11built by immigrants, strengthened by diversity, will choose hope over hate and leadership over chaos
01:18every time. That's right. We are here to build, not tear down,
01:23our shared future. Muchas gracias. Thank you so much.
