The longest government shutdown in U.S. history could end as soon as Wednesday evening, as the Republican-led House is poised to approve a spending package that would restore funding to large parts of the federal government, sending the measure to President Donald Trump, who has said he will sign it.

00:00We believe the long national nightmare will be over tonight.
00:03It was completely and utterly foolish and pointless in the end, as we said all along.
00:08I just want to apologize to any Americans who are out there who still have flight cancellations or delays today.
00:14I want to apologize to the many American families who were made to go hungry over the last several weeks,
00:19our troops and other federal employees who are wondering where their next paycheck would come from.
00:24All of that's on the Democrats.
00:25Just never forget, they voted 15 times between the House and the Senate to close your government.
00:31And the Republicans tried every single day of the shutdown to open it.
00:34And we voted 15 times to do that.
00:37They have a lot to answer for.
00:38And I just want to say that we're very optimistic about the vote tally tonight.
00:43We think this is going to happen.
00:44And we're sorry that it took this long.
00:47So Republicans are going to deliver for the people.
00:49We're ready to get back to our legislative agenda.
00:51We have a very aggressive calendar for the remainder of this year.
00:54There will be some long days and nights here, some long working weeks.
00:57But we will get this thing back on track.

02:10House Democrats will continue the fight to address the Republican health care crisis.
02:16And House Democrats will fight to extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits.
02:21This fight is not over.
