00:00Lost in the shuffle in this game, in re-watching it, we didn't talk about this yesterday,
00:05the Woody Marks Achilles injury scare.
00:08It turned out to be nothing.
00:09It turned out to be nothing, but I thought in the moment, and I think people, if you
00:13watch the game, you'll remember this, Woody Marks on a play, like, you know, carries the
00:19ball, gets tackled, plays over, stands up, and then all of a sudden holds the back of
00:23his leg and sits down, which is, that is the universal sign for the Achilles tear, is the
00:29body, noticing it, like, three seconds after it happens, like, hey, it feels like a dog
00:33bit the back of my leg, oh, something's wrong here, and I started thinking, like, man, I
00:38said you gotta get a running back, it didn't have to be Brees Hall, but somebody before the
00:44trade deadline, because now, it's Nick Chubb, Daria Gumbawale, and Damian Pierce.
00:48I think, okay, so, what I thought immediately, watching that, somebody, like, tries to take
00:57a step and realizes, oh, I have no Achilles tendon, you don't think of that immediately,
01:03you think, oh, I'm falling down because there's no support there, there's speculation that that
01:08perhaps might have been a, a ruse, a gamesmanship element of just getting a, needing a play stoppage
01:17there for a bit, yeah. Okay. I, given the timing of it and his proximity to D'Amico Ryans and
01:23everything else, yeah. They went, they went full bore acting it out then, because you and I, you
01:29know, we were both watching down on the sideline, oh, there's Woody Marks doing, uh, cutting exercises
01:34with a position coach on the sideline, like, they, they did, if that was a fake injury, they went full
01:39bore into like him testing it out after. Okay. So that's what people are accusing him of. I think
01:44realistically what can happen in a situation like that, this is why when people ask, hey, how come
01:49when people, when you want to be grumpy and say, why are these guys such wimps? Why are they
01:53sitting on the ground instead of just getting up and walking off? It is, it is one of those things
01:57when you do have an injury, a lot of times they want you to, they want you to sit down because they
02:02got to make a substitution. So listen, if you got an injury, don't, don't be a hero and try to,
02:07you know, drag yourself off the field just so you don't look like a wimp. We need to be sure that
02:12we replace you. Yeah. So I, I choose to believe that's what happened. He had a cap issue and he's
02:18like, oh crap. So like, okay, hold on. Let's, let's be sure we get the right personnel on the field.
02:23It does in that moment. And then obviously all the subsequent moments where Woody Marks was one of
02:27the most valuable guys on the field. It does beg the question, like, okay, like how, how, how important
02:33is Woody Marks? Well, especially, okay. I, it sounds like Brees Hall could have been had for a third
02:41round pick. And I, I don't know whether to be impressed with the, the, the resolve or the
02:49stupidity of the jets and hanging on to Brees Hall on an expiring contract, no matter what,
02:55when like all is lost for them. He ain't coming back. No. And I, yeah, I wonder if maybe,
03:01maybe Casario is thinking the same thing. Look, it's a fourth round pick. It's a,
03:06he's, they're going to take it at some point and maybe he added a little sprinkling because
03:11somebody else was in on it. I can't remember who. Kansas city, Kansas. That's right. Yeah.
03:14Kansas city reportedly offered a fourth round pick and they said, the Jets said, no.
03:18Is the Texans fourth round pick their own fourth round pick? It is. They have two fourth round
03:22picks. I actually, they're own and they have Washington's. Yeah. So if they could outbid,
03:26you know, the chiefs with a fourth round pick, maybe they thought for sure they'll,
03:30the jets will take that. But yeah, I don't know. It's it. It's so I think in the minds of the fans,
03:37if you lose that game yesterday, they're on Sunday, but you had traded a third round pick
03:42for Brees Hall. I think that Casario is getting destroyed today. You lit a third round pick on
03:48fire. You still want to, he's demonstrated that, Hey, I think he did it. I think he hit it. He might
03:54have really hit it out of the park and drafting Ariante Ursary. You just got to draft some more
03:58offensive linemen or sign one in free agency. So, um, I, if that's the hardest part of being a GM is
04:06keeping the long-term in mind, I right now, if the Texans had spent a third rounder on Brees Hall
04:12and they had lost that game, I got to be honest. Well, and for all the, for all the criticism that
04:19Nick takes over drafting, uh, offensive linemen, you know, it's not been a good track record with the
04:24offensive linemen he's taken. He's had a good track record in the third round, not drafting
04:28offensive linemen necessarily, but Nico Collins was a third round pick tank Dell. You know,
04:32it's injuries with tank. It's not that he couldn't play in the NFL. He was a third round pick.
04:36Kalen Bullock, money mills, Kalen Bullock, money mills was a third round pick. Yeah. I mean,
04:41Kalen Bullock was a third round pick. Uh, Jalen, uh, Jalen Noel was a third round pick. He looks like
04:46he's, you know, acclimating to the NFL. So, so there's that, Hey, real quick, because we were up
04:51against it. But I, the other thing that got kind of swept under the rug in all this,
04:54the Texans lost one of their starting safeties for the season in MJ Stewart. How worried are
04:58you about that? Uh, it, it gets really interesting. I think Jimmy Ward, you know,
05:03we got an update from Aaron Wilson that Cade Stover might be on track to return. He's a tight
05:09end of course, but no update on Jimmy Ward. And, uh, that's, you know, Jalen Petrie can always move
05:15back to safety. I guess the double whammy there is if Jalen Petrie moves back to safety,
05:21then, you know, they were not like Kamari Lassner did not start off playing inside on the slot
05:28in that game. They did that when they realized they had to. And that's cool. Um, because you
05:35have on the outside, they move some Traymond Smith to the outside, but I, versus a team with
05:41better receivers, it gets real dicey. So, um, I did, uh, you can't go out and trade for a safety
05:48right now. Obviously that's, um, that's an uncomfortable situation. Yep. It is. And I,
05:53it's funny. You mentioned a list I had on the run. I'm like miles Bryant, Jalen Reed move Jalen
05:59Petrie bet. Dude, Jimmy Ward is so far off the grid for me right now. It was, uh, when miles
06:04Bryant was on the inside, he, uh, he looks boy, he's a, he had a, he had a, he had a real rough
06:11snap versus Parker Washington. And that's when they started moving Kamari Lasseter inside.
06:15Parker Washington's a good player, man. He is a really good football player. I know. I was really
06:19surprised even before the game, I looked at his stats and he didn't really have a big game this
06:23year, but man, it seems like at least once a game, when I watched the Jaguars, he's making an
06:28impressive play. I think in two, he, I checked his contract situation. He's a free agent after 2026.
06:34He's on his rookie deal. That feels like a guy who's going to sign like a reasonable deal somewhere and be a
06:38really good signing. He just, he's, and he's a great return guy.
