00:51Shui Jian, the Chinese consul general in Osaka, posted on X on Friday, saying,

01:04On Monday, Japan's chief cabinet secretary called the post extremely inappropriate
01:09and urged Beijing to take appropriate action.
01:13However, the Chinese foreign ministry defended the envoy's remarks during his Monday press briefing.
01:19Although Shui Jian deleted the terror-like post, he continues posting similar messages on X.
01:25These included posts saying, quote,
01:28A Taiwan emergency is a Japan emergency.
01:31It's a fatal path that some stupid Japanese politicians are trying to take
01:36and that dialogue is no longer possible.
01:39The U.S. ambassador to Japan weighed in,
01:42saying the Chinese diplomat had threatened Japan's prime minister
01:45and that Beijing's behavior once again shows misconduct.
01:49Prime Minister Takeuchi says she has no intention of withdrawing her remarks on Taiwan.
01:55A major Chinese offensive against Taiwan would disrupt global supply chains,
02:00which rely on the Taiwan Strait for 99 percent of trade,
02:04while also strengthening China's military position in the region.
02:08Takeuchi, who took office last month,
02:11is the first Japanese prime minister to outline a specific scenario
02:15that could justify military intervention.
