00:00Hello again. A bit of a wild night out there for some of us, particularly in the north and the west of Scotland.
00:06It's to the north and west of Scotland that we've got this area of low pressure tracking through between the UK and Iceland.
00:12But look at the ice bars really squidging together. The wind's really whipping up at the moment, particularly, as I say, across northern and western parts of Scotland.
00:20We've also got a weather front crossing through England and Wales. That's bringing a band of showery rain.
00:25It's kind of breaking up as it moves its way south and eastwards, but many areas seeing at least a bit of rain for a time, but tending to clear away.
00:33Let's zoom in on those winds, though, because they're going to be pretty lively through the night.
00:37Yellow warning in place into Friday morning, the north and the west of Scotland, particularly around coasts, 60, 70 miles an hour.
00:45Exposed areas, we could see gusts of 75 miles an hour. Those kind of winds likely to cause some travel disruption, potential also for power issues also.
00:53Those strong winds will blow plenty of showers through, not just for Scotland, but also, of course, especially western parts of Northern Ireland.
01:01The showers do zip through, though, because of the strength of the wind. It could be heavy, even the old rumble of thunder.
01:06The rain clears away from the southeast and largely clear skies then form through England and Wales.
01:11Temperatures will be lower than the previous night, but still many areas a few degrees above freezing to start Friday.
01:19We should start with quite a bit of sunshine over the Midlands, eastern and southern England.
01:23There will be still strong winds over the north and west of Scotland and plenty of showers here, too.
01:29And then we're looking at this showery zone. So quite a cloudy start for northwest England and Wales.
01:33Some heavy bursts of rain mixed in with that as it crosses into northeast England, the Midlands, and eventually turns up across southwest England, too.
01:40The southeast may stay largely dry until quite late on.
01:44Again, that band of showery rain is kind of fizzling out as it does cross the country.
01:49Plenty more showers packing into Scotland, northern and western parts of Northern Ireland.
01:53Something a bit brighter developing come the afternoon for northern England and Wales, but even then there will still be a fair few showers.
02:01Quite a brisk wind blowing everywhere. Notice the switch in wind direction across northern Scotland.
02:05Not as strong come the end of the day as first thing in the morning, but bringing a colder feel.
02:10And many places quite a bit fresher on Friday, although we could still squeak up perhaps into the teens with a bit of brightness across the southeast.
02:18But generally a cooler feeling day on Friday leading into a chillier night as the wind switched to a northerly.
02:24The showers in northern Scotland falling as snow over the hills.
02:28And then we actually look down to the southwest where there's a massive cloud and rain lurking.
02:33That is going to spread its way in during Saturday.
02:35There is still quite a bit of uncertainty about the extent of this rain, where we'll see the heaviest rain across parts of England, Wales.
02:42It could be further north and it could have a bit of snow mixed in over the hills as it does so.
02:47Could stick further south.
02:48Some gusty winds around it.
02:50In fact, you can almost see it there developing into an area of low pressure.
02:53That's why there's still a bit of uncertainty because this low pressure system is developing as it moves across the UK.
02:59Pretty confident, though, that Scotland and Northern Ireland will be brighter on Saturday with lighter winds and some sunshine.
03:06But with a colder feel as those winds from the north set in, it'll feel pretty cold if you're stuck under that rain band as well.
03:11As I said, maybe a little bit of snow over the hills of northern England and the mountains of north Wales too.
03:17But we could still squeak up to double figures across the south.
03:20As I mentioned, there's quite a bit of uncertainty still about Saturday.
03:23We'll firm up more on that during the course of Friday.
