00:00the other high points are directing the episode where Cynthia has anorexia and Donna McKechnie
00:23plays her mom and that was great it was a great experience Bob Shearer who was one of our
00:31directors and Sam Dallin who was our camera operator the two of them were my mentors they
00:39mentored me through the process of at 24 directing the show and it was great that was a great thing
00:47it was a great experience you know I was working with a with a a camera a DP director of photography
00:54Bill Spencer who did all the Quinn Martin shows everything I mean he was the gentleman DP with the
01:01who wore a sweater and a tie and you know it was MGM it was like the old MGM studios and all that
01:09but I did that and then and originally Nicole was supposed to be the character who did and I
01:14went to the producers and I said you gotta let Cynthia Gibb do this you gotta let it be Holly
01:18because Holly will really be great and I loved you know Nia and I but I just felt that the
01:23vulnerability for the the Holly character was going to be more realistic and you know so I learned I
01:29got to do everything on that show I I learned sort of every professional aspect that I would then move
01:35into the world with on that show it really was my school and I had never gone to college so it was my
01:42college and probably the biggest thing I take away from it was the level of professionalism
01:47I left that show knowing that you showed up 100% all the time that you didn't gripe that you didn't
01:54whine that it didn't matter what the hours were that it didn't matter that you showed up as a
01:58professional and you worked with other people and you worked in an ensemble and to the very best of
02:04your ability you put your ego in your back pocket and that's how you created great art
