00:11Student at Cornell University, Sian Dabro, spoke to Signal Hill students about keeping their grades up to get into the university.
00:22If you are accepted, if you make appointments, and if you have the grades, they will meet whatever financial need you have.
00:28So if you have the grades and you are accepted at the university, you need a 100% scholarship, they will provide that for you.
00:37Once they want you at the university, they will provide it. So you just need to have the grades.
00:41Another university student spoke to SAT scores and extracurricular activities providing an edge when wanting to be accepted at schools internationally.
00:51A lot of the people that apply, they're going to be smart too. So what do you have that special about you that will even want you at your school?
01:00So you have to think about your extracurriculars as well, any like summer programs, maybe work experience if you want, like volunteering, stuff like that that can make you look special for them to want to have you at your school.

01:18Dinique Solomon said the live exchange was timely in preparing students for their next steps into future educational decision making.
01:27Students can expect to gain a first-hand knowledge about studying overseas, understand the application processes, scholarships, and campus life at Cornell.
01:39Additionally, students can build their confidence in interacting with global institutions, improve their communication and networking skills, and also become more aware of opportunities available beyond Trinidad and Tobago.
01:53Adia Woods said Signal Hill Secondary School intends to expand such international university cooperations.
02:02We definitely plan to expand and continue this collaboration.
02:06It gives students valuable opportunities to learn from college professionals, ask meaningful questions, and gain new perspectives.
02:15We also hope to collab with other universities locally and abroad, allowing students to learn college lifestyles.
