00:00LSU heads to take on Alabama in Tuscaloosa, a 10-and-a-half point spread as it currently sits now.
00:06I want to talk to you about being in the room where you're getting ready for a football team that doesn't have their head coach
00:10and what the preparation structure would be like for Kalen DeBoer and Alabama today.
00:15Well, I mean, the biggest thing in Alabama, you know who your rivals are.
00:19LSU is a huge rival. You grow up with that being a rival.
00:22LSU, I don't care who's playing there, they know Alabama is probably the number one team year after year after year.
00:29They want to be. And I've been studying this phenomenon now. Fire your coach midseason.
00:34How does your team react? Well, look what UCLA did. They won. Look what Florida almost beat Georgia.
00:40I mean, Virginia Tech won a couple. Arkansas played well.
00:44I think these teams will rally around their kids, the coaches, they'll pull together.
00:49And I think LSU will do the same. They've got good athletes like Florida.
00:53So I think LSU plays its best game. I think the line is a little bit high in this circumstance.
00:58I'm going to go with LSU and the points, even though it's in Tuscaloosa.
01:04And I will say this, Alabama, the only weakness they got, they rushed for a buck 18 a game.
01:10And that's not championship caliber. They need to run the ball well this game.
01:15Because somewhere down the line, that's going to knock them out of a playoff.
01:18Coach, I want to take the LSU side of it.
01:21Frank Wilson, the interim head coach, came out and practiced.
01:24Now, they've had an extra week to your point of preparation.
01:28They said Garrett Nussmeyer is the starter.
01:30But backup Michael Van Buren, who is more mobile, will get some looks potentially in this game as a transfer out of Mississippi State.
01:39What does that mean potentially for the look of LSU's offense?
01:43Are you throwing in maybe new wrinkles that maybe Alabama hasn't seen?
01:47We saw Diego Pavia and Vanderbilt give them some problems from a defensive perspective with a mobile quarterback.
01:55What can LSU do offensively to maybe confuse Alabama's defense?
01:59Oh, I think there's no doubt about it.
02:01With a week off, nothing to lose.
02:03You put a wrinkle in here, a wrinkle in there.
02:06I think the Louisville-Miami game.
02:08Remember that game where we saw that Louisville had a week off?
02:10And Jeff Brom took three quarterbacks, two quarterbacks, faked a field goal.
02:16Put something in, a wrinkle or something in that will get you three to seven points.
02:20I think very likely you could see a different quarterback, a Wildcat quarterback,
02:24something different to try to gain three or seven points early before the defense has time to adjust.
