00:06achievements from the 2025 season. The Silver Slugger Awards are presented to the leading
00:11offensive players at each position, in both the National League, NL, and, the American League,
00:17AL. These awards are determined through voting, by managers and coaches, in Major League Baseball,
00:23and MLB. Each league recognizes three outfielders, and one utility player,
00:28and there is also an offensive team of the year, for both leagues. Below are the recipients of the
00:34Silver Slugger Awards for the year 2025, in the American League and National League.
00:39American League First Base, Nick Kurtz, Oakland Athletics, First Win.
00:44In 2025, Nick Kurtz, a standout rookie for the Athletics, made a significant impact,
00:50in his debut season. He achieved a batting average of 290, hit 36 home runs, drove in 86 runs,
00:58OPS, of 1,002, over 117 games. Kurtz distinguished himself, as one of only three players, who had a
01:08minimum of 400 played appearances, and an OPS exceeding $1,000, joining fellow Silver Slugger
01:14winners, Aaron Judge and Shohei Otani. This marks the second consecutive year, that the Athletics have
01:21had a Silver Slugger Award winner, following Brent Rooker's victory, as designated hitter, in 2024.
01:26Prior to this, the last player from the Athletics to win the award, was Eric Chavez, in 2002.
01:36Second Base, Jazz Chisholm Jr., New York Yankees, First Win.
01:42Jazz Chisholm Jr. has joined the ranks of several other Yankees' second basemen,
01:47who have received Silver Slugger Awards. The list of notable players includes DJ LeMahieu,
01:52Robinson Cano, Alfonso Soriano, and Willie Randolph. In 2025, Chisholm achieved his first-ever
02:0030-30 season hitting a personal best of 31 home runs, while also stealing 31 bases. This accomplishment
02:07made him part of a historic group, as he was one of seven players, in Major League Baseball, to reach
02:12the 30-30 milestone that season. At third base, Jose Ramirez of the Guardian secured his sixth Silver
02:18Slugger Award. Ramirez, often referred to as J-Ram, has now won this prestigious award, back-to-back,
02:26for the second time, having previously done so, in 2017 and 2018. In 2025, the standout third baseman
02:34recorded 30 home runs, and 44 stolen bases, marking the third time in his career that he achieved a 30-30
02:42season, and the second consecutive year, he reached a 30-40 season. He is among a select group of only
02:49three third basemen, to have won at least six Silver Slugger Awards, joining the ranks of Wade Boggs,
02:55who has eight, and Mike Schmidt, who has six. For the shortstop position, Bobby Witt Jr. of the Royals
03:01earned his second Silver Slugger Award. Witt has now won this award. In consecutive years, following another
03:07impressive season, where he batted 295, hit 23 home runs, stole 38 bases, and posted an OPS of 8 YFD2.
03:16At just 25 years old, he joins the elite company, of Salvador Perez, George Brett, and, Willie Wilson,
03:24as, notable players, in the franchise's history. Sun is recognized as the sole player, from the Royals,
03:31to have received multiple Silver Slugger Awards. Outfield, Aaron Judge, Yankees, fifth win.
03:37Aaron Judge has now matched the record for the most Silver Slugger Awards, among Yankees players,
03:42joining legends such as Derek Jeter, Robinson Cano, Jorge Posada, and Dave Winfield. In the 2025 season,
03:49Judge delivered an exceptional performance, achieving a batting average of 331, hitting 53 home runs,
03:55driving in 114 runs, and posting an impressive OPS of 1 by 44. He not only secured his first batting title,
04:03but also led Major League Baseball in all three key offensive categories. Batting average,
04:10on-base percentage, .457, and slugging percentage, .688. This marks his second consecutive Silver Slugger
04:21Award and his fourth in the last five seasons. Outfield, Byron Buxton, Twins, first win. Byron Buxton has
04:30consistently demonstrated his offensive capabilities over the years, although injuries have often
04:35hindered his ability to compete for a Silver Slugger Award. However, in 2025, he achieved a
04:41personal best, with 542 plate appearances, recording a slugging percentage of .551 and an OPS of 878,
04:49along with 35 home runs and 24 stolen bases. Outfield, Riley Green Tigers, first win.
04:57Riley Green, a second-year player, has made a significant impact, this season. At just 24 years old,
05:04Green has made a significant impact this season, as a first-time All-Star, showcasing his impressive
05:09power, at the plate. He hit 36 home runs, which placed him fifth in the American League, and recorded
05:16111 RBIs, ranking fourth in the league, all while achieving a slugging percentage of .493.
05:22This marks the first time since 2016 when Miguel Cabrera won that a player from Detroit has received
05:29a Silver Slugger Award. Additionally, Green is the first outfielder from the Tigers to earn this honor
05:36since J.D. Martinez in 2015. Catcher Cal Raleigh of the Mariners has also made headlines by winning his
05:43first Silver Slugger Award. Known as Big Dumper, Raleigh's impressive performance has led to
05:50speculation about his potential candidacy for the 2025 AL MVP, with the announcement expected on
05:57Thursday. This season, he has not only become a first-time All-Star and home-run derby champion,
06:02but has also set multiple records finishing the year with an astounding 60 home runs and 125 RBIs.
06:09His contributions were pivotal in leading the Mariners to their first AL West title in 24 years.
06:18George Springer of the Blue Jays has had a remarkable comeback season, earning his third
06:22Silver Slugger Award as the designated hitter. George Springer, who previously won the Silver
06:28Slugger Award in 2017 and 2019 while playing for the Astros, has now completed his fifth season
06:36with the Blue Jays. Although he experienced a decline in performance during the 2023-24 seasons,
06:43he made a significant comeback in 2025, even as he turned 36, in September. In that season,
06:50he achieved an impressive .959 OPS, making him the second-best hitter in the American League,
06:56surpassed only by Aaron Judge. Additionally, Springer hit 32 home runs and successfully stole
07:0218 bases out of 19 attempts, contributing to the success of the AL East champions.
07:09Zach McKinstry, a utility player for the Tigers, earned his first Silver Slugger Award this season.
07:16At 30 years old, McKinstry had a breakout year after being selected in the 33rd round of the 2016 draft
07:23by the Dodgers. He joined the Tigers in a minor trade with the Cubs in March 2023 and quickly became
07:29an essential player for the team, earning his first All-Star selection. McKinstry posted a slash line
07:36of 259-33-4-38 and an OPS-plus of 113, hitting 12 home runs, 23 doubles, and 11 triples, while also
07:46stealing 19 bases. His versatility was evident as he played multiple positions including second base,
07:52third base, shortstop and both corner outfield spots. Outfield Positions Team of the Year,
07:57Yankees' second consecutive win. In 2025, the Yankees, spearheaded by Aaron Judge,
08:03achieved remarkable offensive success, scoring a total of 849 runs, which was the highest in Major
08:11League Baseball and 51 runs more than any other team in the American League. They dominated the league
08:17in several key offensive categories, including home runs, 274, slugging percentage, poor fight 5,
08:25on-base plus slugging, OPS, at poor result at 7, and total bases, with 2,188. Beyond Judge,
08:33the Yankees showcased a formidable lineup, with 7 players, hitting over 20 home runs, and 6 regulars,
08:40achieving a slugging percentage, of at least 460, and an OPS, exceeding 810. National League first base,
08:48Pete Alonso, Mets, first award. Despite his impressive home run tally, it is surprising that this marks Pete
08:54Alonso's first silver slugger award, concluding the 2025 season, with 38 home runs, 126 RBIs, an NL leading
09:0341 doubles, and an OPS of T871, Alonso has finally earned this recognition. He topped all National League
09:10first basemen in these statistical categories, and is the first Mets first baseman, to receive a silver
09:16slugger award, since Keith Hernandez, in 1984. Second base, Ketel Marte, D-backs. Marte has achieved
09:27the remarkable feat, of winning the silver slugger award, for the second consecutive time, making him
09:32one of three players, from the Arizona Diamondbacks, to receive this honor this season, which is the
09:38highest number, for any team, in the National League. The 32-year-old had an impressive season,
09:44finishing with a batting average of 283, 28 home runs, 72 RBIs, and an OPS of 893. His OPS was
09:54significantly higher than that of any other second baseman in the National League, with Bryce
09:58Terang coming in second, at 794. Additionally, Marte hit 10 more home runs, than any other NL second
10:05baseman, as Terang managed 18. The last player from the D-backs to win back-to-back silver slugger
10:12awards, was Paul Goldschmidt, who accomplished this, at first base, in 2017 and 2018. Manny Machado has
10:21also secured his place in history, by winning the silver slugger award, for third base, for the
10:26second year in a row, marking his third win since 2020. He is the first player, from the San Diego
10:32Padres, to achieve at least three silver sluggers, since Tony Gwynn, who won his last of seven,
10:38in 1997. In the 2025 season, Machado posted a batting average of 275, along with 27 home runs,
10:47and 95 RBIs, and he was selected as an all-star, for the seventh time in his career.
10:53Geraldo Perdomo has earned his first silver slugger award, as a shortstop, showcasing his
10:58offensive prowess this season. Burst emerged as one of the most unexpected success stories,
11:02of 2025. In the three seasons leading up to this year, he managed to hit only 14 home runs,
11:09and recorded a .654 OPS, over one Fouazou-Dardin 75 at-bats, resulting in an OPS plus of 83,
11:17which is below the league average. However, this past season, he significantly improved his performance,
11:22hitting 20 home runs, driving in 100 runs, and achieving a 136 OPS plus, in 597 at-bats.
11:32Additionally, Perdomo set a personal record, with 27 stolen bases, making history, as the first
11:39shortstop for the D-backs, to achieve a 2020 season, and to win a silver slugger award. In the outfield,
11:46Juan Soto of the Mets secured his sixth silver slugger award. By the age of 26, Soto has matched
11:52the achievements of only Mike Trout and Alex Rodriguez in winning this prestigious accolade.
11:57He has won the award for six consecutive years with five of those wins in the National League
12:02and one in the American League last year. Notably, Soto's six silver sluggers have been earned while
12:08playing for four different teams, the Nationals, Padres, Yankees, and Mets. Alongside Alonso,
12:14Soto contributes to making the Mets the only National League team, apart from the D-backs,
12:18to have multiple players, awarded silver sluggers, in 2025. Soto achieved a career high of 43 home
12:27runs this season leading the National League. This season he achieved 38 stolen bases, complemented
12:33by a league-leading 127 walks, and an impressive .921 OPS. Outfield, Corbin Carroll D-backs' first win.
12:43After a somewhat disappointing 2024 season, where he recorded a .231 batting average, a .750 OPS,
12:50and a .107 OPS+, Carroll made a remarkable comeback in 2025. He became the first player,
12:57in D-backs' history, to join, the 30-30 club, hitting a career-high 31 home runs, and stealing
13:0432 bases. His batting average was .259, with an OPS of .884, and 140 OPS+. Carroll was among 13 players,
13:14who surpassed 300 total bases this season. He led the National League in triples, for the third year
13:20in a row, with 17, and his 80 extra base hits ranked fifth in the major leagues. At just 25 years old,
13:26he is the first D-backs outfielder to receive a Silver Slugger Award. Since David Peralta,
13:33in 2018, outfield, Kyle Tucker, Cubs, second win. Despite facing injuries that affected his
13:40performance in the latter half of the season, Tucker still managed to deliver impressive
13:45offensive statistics. He reached the milestone of over 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases for the
13:52third time in four seasons. Tucker, who was the top free agent this offseason, posted impressive
13:57statistics, with a batting line of .266, 3-3777, 464. Over the past three seasons, he has been awarded
14:08two Silver Slugger Awards, making him the first outfielder for the Cubs to achieve this recognition,
14:14since Sammy Sosa in 2002. For the catcher position, Hunter Goodman of the Rockies has claimed his first
14:20Silver Slugger Award. As the representative for the Rockies, in the 2025 All-Star Game,
14:26Goodman hit 31 home runs and recorded 91 RBIs, accumulating 281 total bases and an OPS of .843.
14:37Among qualified catchers this season, only Cal Rally of the Mariners surpassed him,
14:41in home runs and total bases. Goodman is notable for being the first catcher in the franchise's
14:47history to win a Silver Slugger and the first Rockies player to earn this accolade at any position
14:54since Trevor Story in 2019. In the designated hitter category, Shohei Ohtani of the Dodgers
15:01has secured his fourth Silver Slugger Award. Although he did not replicate his previous 50-50 season,
15:07Ohtani still made significant contributions at the plate. He set a franchise record for the Dodgers,
15:13with 55 home runs, and led MLB, with 146 runs scored, marking the highest total for any Dodger
15:20in the modern era, since 1900. Additionally, he recorded 20 stolen bases, further showcasing his
15:26exceptional performance. For the third consecutive year, Shohei Ohtani has emerged as the top performer
15:31in his league, leading in several key offensive categories including slugging percentage at 622,
15:37on-base plus slugging OPS at 1.0014, OPS plus at 179, and total bases, with 380. He has secured his
15:47third straight Silver Slugger Award, and is expected to win his third consecutive Most Valuable Player,
15:53MVP Award, next week. In the category of Utility Player, Alec Burleson of the St. Louis Cardinals has
15:59claimed his first Silver Slugger Award. This marks the fourth year that the Utility Silver Slugger has
16:05been presented, with Burleson being the fourth different recipient in the National League,
16:10following Brandon Drury, Cody Bellinger, and Mookie Betts. The 26-year-old had an impressive
16:16season in 2025, posting a batting average of .290, hitting 18 home runs, driving in 69 runs,
16:23and achieving an OPS of .801. He is the first player from the Cardinals to win a Silver Slugger
16:29Award, since Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Arenado, in 2022. The Team of the Year Award goes to the Los
16:37Angeles Dodgers, who have won this honor, for the second time. This season, the Dodgers led the National
16:43League in several offensive metrics, including runs scored, .825, home runs, .244, walks, .580,
16:52OPS, .768, and total bases, .2415, among others. Their home run tally is the third highest
17:01in the franchise's history. The team continues to be driven by standout performances from players like
17:08Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts. The back-to-back World Series champions, along with notable
17:13figures like Will Smith and Otani, have also received consecutive honors as the NL Offensive
