00:00Hey everybody welcome on back it's the Barstool Boxing Show starring me. I'm the only fucking
00:04person that matters on this one today. Do not pay attention to the gentleman who's 35 and 0
00:08sitting right next to me he's about to tear through the fucking super welterweight division
00:11like an absolute box of light bulbs. It's Boots Ennis. For people who don't know Boots Ennis,
00:15shame on you because he is the face of boxing for the next 20 years or so. I was turned on to Boots
00:21probably about five years ago, six years ago, five years ago? From Gilly. From Gilly and Wallow. I was
00:27doing stuff with a million dollar worth of game guys and they know that I'm a big boxing head and
00:31I was doing something with Canelo at the time and I think Gilly was like Canelo straight cheeks you
00:36gotta watch this guy Boots Ennis. I was like holy shit so I started and I'm fucking so glad that I
00:41did. I've done some stuff with him down in Philly's first time he's in NYHQ. Welcome to New York with
00:46us Boots how you doing brother? I'm doing great I appreciate you having me. You're doing better than
00:50great because you put on a fucking clinic a couple of weeks ago that first round knockout. For people
00:55who have never seen a Boots Ennis fight, shame on you again, but this is one of those guys who
00:59fights from either side of the plate, comes in absolutely destroys Lima in under two minutes
01:04doing that switch hitter shit which drives me absolutely crazy. I'm a natural southpaw. I was
01:10doing some ham and egg shit in college so I kind of just have this where if I go around and I start
01:15to fight orthodox I look like a guy who just got out of a hospital. How does that come so fucking easy
01:21for you when guys spend their whole lives trying to just get to the point where their power hand
01:26becomes their style for the rest of their career? That's something that my dad taught me. I started
01:33southpaw and then my dad once I got good on southpaw my dad taught me how to use the right-handed
01:39side which is orthodox and ever since then I've just been fighting both sides and I'm very fluid in
01:45both everything is equally the same you know defense speed power and I just sometimes when
01:51I'm in the ring I don't even know when I switch like it just it's like weird like it's it's almost
01:54unconscious for you. The only other person that I would say is the other glaring example of this
02:00is T-Bud right like Bud doing that but it seems almost more like that's his mindset going out for
02:06a round. You it just happens in between fucking punches for all intents and purposes. So what do you
02:12train for then when you're training for your next fight? Are you training to start off southpaw then
02:17pop over to orthodox vice versa or do you train to do to go the distance with one hand or the other?
02:23It's it's however I feel you know when I get in that ring you know if I feel something
02:26I'm gonna go I'm gonna go take it. Right. And then and then yeah it's basically however I feel if I
02:32want to come out orthodox I'm gonna come out orthodox. If I want to come out southpaw I'm gonna come
02:34out southpaw. But when I'm in that ring like I said I don't know when I really
02:38we switch it that's how natural I am. It's like it's like it's weird like. It's not weird people
02:43would kill for that. Honestly kill for that. The only thing that that would concern me is that if
02:49you get across the ring from somebody who has that natural ability sometimes those fights you switch
02:55your opponent switches and then it looks like a Spanish dancing class like you know what I mean
02:59like you're just kind of stepping all around. For sure. But otherwise it's devastating. I am always
03:04curious to see whether or not fighters carry their power when they go up in weight classes and then
03:10to see you at 154 come out and absolutely destroy Lima it just puts to rest all the questions on
03:16whether or not you're going to be devastating at 154. Was it a concern of yours getting in there
03:22saying no matter how hard I'm hitting the bag no matter what I'm looking at sparring it's not until
03:27I get in there under the big lights at this weight limit will I know whether or not I'm truly boots
03:32tennis or not. I mean no for sure I knew I was going to be you know better because I've been
03:38fighting at 147 for like almost 10 years you know and it's been been a long time you know and then
03:43outside of the professional ranks as an amateur I was fighting at 141 so I was in the 140s for a
03:50very long time and I it was that time you know I feel like I moved up the right time and I felt great
03:54having those extra seven pounds and yeah it's going to be scary. It's going to be scary for that
04:00division but people don't understand like I'm seven pounds lighter or heavier depending on the
04:06dump I take in the morning so people sometimes think that it's not that big of a deal but for a guy
04:10who's a fine-tuned instrument that's seven pounds of the world right? Yeah that seven pound
04:14uh meant a lot you know it helped a lot and uh I could eat a little bit more you know it was way
04:20better eating a little bit more and I felt you know a lot stronger you know and um and not for
04:25nothing the guy that I fought Lima he was actually a 60 pounder. Yes. He fought at 160 so and and things
04:30like that so I felt I felt great I felt real strong so yeah. And now does that ruin you ever going back
04:36down because you see that your strength is there so unless there was something extremely attractive
04:41are you never going back down? Oh no yeah 147 a wreck it's over it's over I mean I made my mark at
04:47147 you know um I was a you know unified lineal champion I got the ring magazine belt so you know I'm in
04:53the history books you know and I'm I'm up there with Floyd and you know Sugar Ray Lentz and those
04:57guys so at 147 so you know I did my part at 147 now we at 54 now it's time to you know do way better
05:05you know and bring home more belts. I'm getting I'm putting the cart before the horse which I'm
05:09going to do multiple times in this interview but where do you think you're going to wind up
05:13because you're a relatively young man you're going to have a long career still ahead of you
05:16do you see something here or just how fat will Boots be by the end of the time when you want to hang
05:22them up I mean where do you see yourself honestly being because when I spoke to you
05:25yeah five years ago this is where you said you were going to be you like this is where
05:29how tall are you? How tall are you? 5'10. Yeah so you said that your height you're naturally going
05:34to gravitate to this weight this seems like it's it but is it the end of the road or do you see
05:39yourself getting up there and fighting middleweight? No for sure you know it's not the end of the
05:43road I'm just getting just getting started you know we just got the 154 so like I say it's time
05:48to collect these belts but I think I'm gonna go you know as far as maybe 68 you know and uh
05:53yeah you know I always spar bigger guys you know you know I sometimes heavyweights and light heavyweights
05:59and cruiserweights and things like that you know to get ready for my fight so I know I can you know
06:03handle myself at 168 you know or 175 but I think it's 68 my cutoff I think okay 168 I would love to see
06:10168 at some point listen I I just mentioned height briefly and whenever I think of height I think of
06:15Sebastian Fundora you just can't not because the guy I'm six foot five yeah and Sebastian is just
06:22freaky like you know what I mean like I'm a very you're about to say large you look good for once
06:26you know six five Sebastian looks weird how would you feel about a fight like that right off the rip
06:31fighting somebody where for the first time in your career professionally you're really looking up at a
06:36guy what's crazy is don't nobody know but I love fighting taller guys do you really I don't really like
06:41fighting guys that's like my height or shorter but I've had to do it for so long yes so I'm used to
06:46it but I love fighting taller guys now is it because the lankiness and whatnot is something that
06:51you can capitalize on with you know footwork speed all that kind of stuff or is it just a different
06:56challenge for you when when you're the shorter when you're the shorter guy you can capitalize on
06:59you know a lot of things you know um to set the taller guy look you know and I love doing that you
07:05you know and um and if I get a chance to fight him you know you know the world gonna see you know
07:11yeah they gonna see I think it's just interesting to see how people react to him yeah because always
07:16in that face off there's that like that glaring difference and to go in there's a lot of gaps in
07:21his game that I know that you'd be able to take advantage of just from a physical standpoint I would
07:27love to see that fight happen but the fight that I want to see how by the way I think I'm done with
07:32with the Crawford fight I don't think the Crawford fight with you happens just because where Terrence
07:36is in his career it would be very stupid of him to take a fight with you realistically how do you
07:41feel about that I mean after his last fight he said I seen an interview where he said somebody
07:46asking about him fighting me he was like no he's like he's I'm not gonna fight him or not going back
07:50down to 54 or something like that so he said out his mouth let that man enjoy his one you know he
07:55earned the right to fight whoever he want so you know he just beat Canelo so yeah so he kind of
08:01like the face he beat the face of boxing so now he kind of like the face of boxing now you know
08:05as of right now for the moment but he's old yeah he's old right and that's the whole deal like he
08:09feeds the face of boxing now and you're right I think Canelo was the face of boxing for a long time
08:13I mean he still good he's Canelo still the face of boxing as well though but you got to pick uh put
08:19him over the top of him because he beat him 100 there's no doubt in my mind that he now pound for pound
08:23I don't know if I put him above maybe Usyk anyway like the same thing is what people are saying
08:29Usyk will never really be the face of boxing I don't think just because he's kind of coming
08:34towards the end too an older gentleman and my point is that opens up that opens up slots for
08:40elite younger fighters to become the face of boxing pretty quick is that something that you're setting
08:45out to do or is it something that you just if it comes with wins fine large I'll be on the fucking
08:51Mount Rushmore one day but all I want to do is win fights I mean I know I'm gonna be the face of
08:56boxing there it is you know because the fans love how I fight you know I do everything you know I box
09:02I bang whatever you want I could do so you know the fans are always gonna love to see me fight and
09:07they know I always you know try to get a knockout at the end of the night and fans love knockouts so
09:11100% yeah it's the best thing you know what some people and you're you're not downplaying at all but
09:18he's the type of fighter where you can't go get a drink it's much it's very frustrating for functional
09:22alcoholics like me but if I all of a sudden be like all right listen first round's about to start
09:27you know Lima's gonna play with them and they're gonna I'm just gonna go get another beer and then
09:30I come back and everybody's fucking Gillian Wallow jumping out of their fucking seats I hate when
09:34people would be like yo why you just play with him nah for what if I would have played with him
09:38and I would have went any more rounds that I would have went that somebody would have had something
09:42to say you know y'all can't say nothing now I got him out in the first round I called everybody out
09:46you know balls in everybody else's court the only thing that that does is it makes people
09:50because people will look for gaps in your game yeah people look for gaps in your game and you
09:54start knocking people out in the first round it's what happened I guess Berlinger is probably the
09:58most recent example because he had like those 16 first round KOs to start his career so everyone's
10:04wondering can he ever get to deeper water is there a gap in your career like maybe the gas tank what
10:09do you see a guy like you because you're working every day in the gym dad's involved in all that stuff
10:14what is the I don't know the chink in your armor the gap in your game that you're always working on
10:19right that you're always working on to get better I work on everything to get better you can't be
10:24you cannot think that you can't get better at things you can't get big hit and things like that
10:28so I feel like I work on everything I try to sharpen everything whether it's a jab moving my head
10:33defense you know power punching speed you know footwork I just work on everything all around so I
10:38could be prepared you know you know you know well prepared for you know whoever whoever it is that I'm
10:43fighting I told you that when I first heard your name you were a legend in and around Philly
10:48and now that we're been talking now for a couple of years I don't consider you a friend unless you
10:53say I'm a friend then I'd be glad to be fucking best but you're a friend but it's one of those
10:56things now where you're a national fucking stud and you're trying to become that international name
11:02but with that comes a lot of like traveling shit that you never were used to so potentially fighting
11:09in Saudi Arabia or you know picking up cards in London and stuff what does that do to a fighter do you
11:16think that on top of everything that you're doing with your nutrition and your training and
11:21I don't know your spirituality whatever the fuck that you're keeping in check now you also have
11:25to deal with jet lag and sitting in a foreign country where you can't necessarily get the name
11:29brands that you want and finding a fucking four o'clock in the morning that's that's a nuance
11:33that's that's definitely hard and people gotta understand that you know um you leaving like like for
11:39example like you just said like going to Saudi Arabia and that stuff you gotta you probably gotta leave
11:42maybe two three weeks before to get adjusted maybe a month to get adjusted to the time and
11:48and get adjusted to the food because you don't even you go out there a week before the fight
11:52and try to get just to the time and the food you're not gonna be right you might you might get sick
11:56anything anything can happen so I don't know it definitely take a toll you know I feel like
12:00some of the fighters is you know it's it takes toll on some of the fighters I think I think it really
12:05affects performance you know what makes all that up what big fucking check though you know what I'm
12:10saying like so that's the reason that we do it and we're trying to again build you into an
12:14international name for sure right so when they say so if you had a Rushmore of fighters and by the way
12:20I didn't give many of these questions beforehand but if you have a Rushmore of fighters that you
12:24think are the all-time greats and typically Mount Rushmore with the four figures who do you put up
12:29there now and who do you think you're going to replace oh that's a good question that's a good
12:33question who's the four best fighters in the history of boxing and who do you replace with that
12:38my my Mount Rushmore is Floyd Roy Sweet Pea Pernell so yeah Pernell and you can go you can go you
12:51can go Mike Tyson or Muhammad Ali right or Sugar Ray Leonard like it's too many it's too many who you
12:57bouncing off that's tough that's tough because you have to go and take all these people because it
13:01seems like you are in part a boxing historian like you appreciate the science for sure I can't tell you
13:07I've sat down with Canelo a bunch of times he just doesn't enjoy watching fights yeah like you
13:12know what I mean he has some historical perspective from Mexican fighters but otherwise he just doesn't
13:17give a fuck so now you're going to see that there's a an opportunity for your name to be mentioned
13:22with the likes of Sugar Ray or Pernell Whitaker and stuff like that yeah tremendous amount of pressure
13:28on you no no pressure there's no pressure because you do seem like you're straight up and down six
13:33o'clock all the time yeah do you go home and just beat the shit out of walls like where do you let
13:37it out other than when you're in the ring you know what I mean yeah I mean yeah I go home and punch
13:42walls all day yeah that's what I that's how I got that's how I got these knuckles that's calcified
13:47type shit that's more scary than when I had seen no talk to me about Virgil Ortiz uh a good fighter
13:52good fighter yeah yeah yeah how do you feel about November uh how do you feel about that fight uh the
13:57fight that he having in November is it's a tough fight you know um he can't overlook him you know and
14:02um Lubin is a you know a crafty fighter smart he could box and he could punch too so you know it's a
14:09it's gonna be a great fight I think it's a 50-50 fight you know um yeah you know it's a 50-50 fight
14:14or 60-40 you know maybe Ortiz you know but it's a great fight for boxing and uh you know I I think
14:20I think it's gonna be a good fight for sure and you so do you lick your chops in thinking that you're
14:25next up then for Virgil for sure you know uh you know that's that's that if you ain't hear my post
14:30you know interview that's what I called out and I called everybody else out too you know if you know
14:35just fight you know if he fight on November and uh things don't go it's playing you know I'm
14:40I'm looking for the next best thing so it's either Ortiz or whoever else want to come get the smoke you
14:46know I'm here to take over 154 like I said before this is my division and I'm gonna show the world
14:50I'm the best in the world I'm gonna knock him down by one by one damn right so talk to me about what
14:54that's like then if you have you call them out I know that his trainer had said that uh boots
15:00Virgil Ortiz is the biggest fight that can be made now outside of like a major major belt which
15:06I think is a big compliment to be quite honest with you and all this like shit is going around
15:11he's in your crosshairs but he's gotta win this fucking fight in November you gotta be you gotta
15:17be rooting for him right that's that's what I'm saying like just let him focus on his fight you
15:21know I mean on November 8th you know let him get through that and uh and if you know things go right
15:26you know that's who's next for me will you go to that fight uh I'll talk to the team and see you
15:31know if we're not there I'm definitely gonna watch it but you know I won't be there though
15:36yeah that's that's the whole deal because I'm always fascinated with that because some people
15:41don't handle it that well yeah some people who are ringside who are the next person up for that
15:47opponent come in there and they kind of get a little wild yeah after their guy just went through
15:5212 rounds and you know fucking how much war you go through with that stuff sometimes you're not in
15:57the mood to do those interviews much less talk some smack right so what's the deal you're sitting
16:01ringside in Texas and Virgil uh pulls off a unanimous decision but it's a hard fought fight and you
16:09jump in you get in his face what do you do to make sure that you say this is the fucking fight that
16:14everybody wants to see and you're the guy that I want to knock out um we just said that's it did I
16:19just give you a script you're welcome you know that's that's that's that's what we're gonna do
16:23you know we're gonna make it happen and everybody want that's a fight everybody want to see you know
16:26you know you know you know whatever way it go you know I'll fight the winner you know it don't matter
16:30you know but like I said whatever way it go I'm getting if I'm near I'm gonna get in the ring and
16:34face off whoever won and uh and make a big fight you know that's what the fans want to see
16:39I am a huge fan of you I'm a huge fan of your hands and it's gonna make sense in a sec
16:46because let's go away from traditional boxing for a while I don't ever want to see you in like
16:51an octagon I don't I don't know if boots can throw a fucking kick and I really don't care
16:55but what about some of this other bullshit what about like I just see not some of this other
16:59bullshit because the bullshit is like that slap league bullshit what about like Paul Malinagi just
17:04came out you're a devastating fucking fighter you're a devastating puncher you can you see yourself
17:10going in there just to prove to yourself that you can knock people out with no gloves no that's
17:14scared it I'm not I'm not on it really yeah yeah I mean it's scary shit right no it's not scary
17:20that's scared it oh it's scared it's out of pocket I sat ringside from when I was covered in blood
17:25yes no but what about with these fucking mitts yeah I'm not trying to break my hands I'm cool
17:31I see how they I see how all the fighters look after the fight or their hands be like broken or swollen
17:37yeah nah would you agree that there's some of the toughest fight toughest fighters in combat sports
17:41so because or at least the craziest the craziest for sure I mean they all like former boxers or
17:47former MMA fighters so so they came from a certain sport so yeah but they crazy yeah that's some
17:54barbaric stuff I'm telling you what I fell in love with it like because it fills in the gaps in
17:58between boxing I don't even think I could watch it oh it's it's it's something else I'll take you to
18:01one that's that's one of my problems how about the bullshit that tank is doing so I I think that
18:06Jake Paul is not a good boxer but I think he's very good for boxing and I think the way that he
18:10got uh Amanda Serrano paid whatnot and even my son I got a 18 year old son who the first time he
18:16saw Jake he'd seen Amanda and seen somebody else on the undercard he's like dad make sure I know when
18:22that kid's fighting again I want to see it so it brings people's eyes yeah but are we at that point
18:26where it's starting to become just fucking just silly I mean I mean you have a lot of respect for tank
18:32right and for for his skills to a certain degree for sure I mean well I mean it's a money grab it's
18:37a bag why not you know and it's not like he can't hold his own yeah I mean Jake definitely um
18:44getting better in boxing 100 at first I thought it was a joke but he actually getting better in boxing
18:49he he goes he trains like a professional boxing he has long camps like how we have camps and uh
18:55he put the work in so you know it's gonna I think it's gonna it's good for boxing I feel like
18:59it's good for boxing you know and um why not make some money and it's an exhibition so it's
19:04why not make some easy money yeah I know but it's it's sort of like sometimes it turns into a little
19:08bit of circus because of the dichotomy between Jake and his opponents it tank is you know five five
19:14on a good day I mean I don't know what the fuck he wants to put on his card or this guy is 30 years
19:19older than him or this guy hasn't fought in a long time but you have to say even though Jake
19:23has gotten better yeah if he was to step in a ring tomorrow yeah with you that's a hate crime
19:29right like what you do to him would probably be a crime you got to say that right for sure yeah
19:33no I think like I just said I think Tank already said though like he wanted to like retire so
19:38why not retire making a bunch of money and it's an exhibition so I understand where you're coming
19:43from you know why not so how do you feel about these guys who retire and then come back
19:48and I and I don't even mean from that fighter's perspective because some of them need bags
19:52some of them just can't hang it up because they're such fierce competitor but competitors but I
19:58remember when Pacquiao was first doing one of his returns everybody was like I'll fight him I'll fight
20:02him I'll fight him because they all want Pacquiao on their record yeah they don't give a shit that
20:06he's 107 years old at the time they bought him they just want to have like Pacquiao is there somebody
20:11out there maybe from history that you'd be like man that son of a bitch comes out of retirement I want
20:15him on boots this record uh I what's crazy is I kind of I thought I was gonna be able to get to
20:20Pacquiao fight okay when I was at 47 no no everybody wanted it I thought I was gonna be able to get to
20:24Pacquiao fight I'm like yo one day I'll probably maybe I might be able to get it because I got a
20:27belt you know I know I know if he come back he gonna try to fight for a belt he don't want to fight
20:31nobody else so I don't know one day well in the back of my mind I'm like maybe I can get Pacquiao but
20:36you know he wanted I think he wanted to find like burgers or something like yeah it's cool though you
20:41know I would see him because he was a legend you know uh but you almost feel bad though
20:44like I I think that the amount of damage that you inflict and listen that's taking nothing away
20:49from a hall of famer I straps in eight different weight divisions yeah guy is you know close to
20:55being on the rush more for me yeah I can't believe he's still boxing it's crazy it's unbelievable I
21:00mean he's a fucking I don't know I think he just I feel like he'd be bored in the house there's nothing
21:06else to do so he got that he need that feel that drive that adrenaline rush like to I don't know
21:12just to get back on his feet and then be able to get in the ring and he probably just loved doing
21:16it so I don't know when you walk away you're walking away though right or could you see yourself not
21:20being able to give up on this shit like that I'm probably gonna I'm probably gonna be like a
21:25trainer I'm gonna be a fit trainer okay so you'll always be around the game yeah I'm gonna be a
21:30I'm gonna be a trainer and I'm probably gonna be big I'm probably gonna be like 250 that's it
21:34yeah yeah you'll be a pair of boots yeah yeah you'll be fucking butters it'll be butters yeah
21:39what about Xander Xander's another name that sometimes they throw around at 154 I'd met that
21:43young man he's a good young man has a couple of holes in his game that I think he's working on
21:46he's getting better at every fight is that somebody that's also on your wish list I just
21:50any any of them guys can get this fucking smoke anybody with them belts like I said before you know
21:55you know we want Virgil next and uh you know but if things don't go how it go you know any of the
22:00champions right any of champions coming off a fight so recently and now coming in being in New
22:06York by the way I'm very very happy to have you here I know I'm part of a car wash where you're
22:10gonna be talking to other people but I'd like to take this the most important spot we should have
22:15did something you and I we should have did something outside of this room but like something
22:20no no not spa you you misread me there I'm talking about getting a fucking cheesesteak oh this
22:24motherfucker wants to strap on gloves no I don't I don't want any of that um but isn't that one of those
22:29things like do you feel like as a boxer who wants to be an international superstar and who has a good
22:36personality and is very amenable easy to get along with and all that stuff do you need to start doing
22:40a lot more stuff with the press where like you're in town I'm gonna go with the guy from Barstool and
22:45grab the best Philly cheesesteak in New York like are you DTF with that type of shit or is one of those
22:50things where you want to be the guy who's all fucking business because right now you do have an
22:54whole business fucking way about you I gotta I'm working on that you know I'm working on you know
22:59getting outside my comfort zone you know I'm more like to myself more reserved but I you know if you
23:04want to be a mega superstar a preview superstar you gotta you gotta put yourself out there you gotta
23:08you gotta speak to the media you gotta speak to you gotta do things you gotta get yourself out there
23:13make content you know I'm back on YouTube myself now so you know so I'm trying to get myself out
23:17there you know day by day you know it's a pain in the ass it's a lot but that's what it come with
23:21the sport of boxing it does so I you know I gotta deal with it and I'm you know I'm I'm gonna get
23:26there talk to me about Philly because you're a proud guy who comes from Philly and all that shit
23:31what does John mean John John John can mean anything like your laptop that's a John that's my
23:37John right here yeah the mic that's a John yeah the headphones your eyeglasses that's a John
23:42a female could be a John like can't she yeah so I'm comfortable going home to my wife and be like
23:47John don't make me a fuck like can I say something like that yeah you can you can you can do it like
23:52that or like yo or if you see a John on the street like tell her to come here like oh really like
23:57something like that yeah John mean anything what about Philly though like everyone they're notorious
24:02for being terrible sports fans throwing snowballs at Santa doing all that stuff but the Philly
24:08fight fans are some of the best fight fans around they they they get around like Mexican
24:16fight fans are notorious for being fucking great fight fans following English fight fans if you
24:21ever saw Ricky Hatton rest in peace oh my god yeah there's only one meanwhile he's getting starched
24:28by Floyd I mean there's some of the best and so if you look within the United States some states
24:33really pride themselves on their boxers who is particularly from that town I think Philly's one
24:38of them talk to me about the Philly fans um Philly fans are like boxing fans or just in general
24:43no boxing fans the other one's the absolute fucking mad Ben uh Philly boxing fans is great
24:47you know um they all they come out show a lot of support and um they definitely crazy they just as
24:51crazy as the Eagles Eagles fans yeah yeah yeah they all all types of stuff Eagles fans Sixers fans
24:57Philly fans they go crazy so they support you the same way do you think that helped you then as a
25:01young man that somebody had noticed very young in you that you were a talented guy and you had the
25:06opportunity to become an international superstar do you think the fact that Philly then gets behind
25:10you that pushes you up in national recognition doesn't it for sure you're fully definitely getting
25:14behind me you know um you know some of the you know players on the team uh like the Eagles or like
25:19the Sixers they definitely be showing love you know you know pushing me to get out there
25:24more as well too so you know I appreciate all the love you know that the city be showing me so yeah
25:29can you talk to me about this last uh fight can you just is there any reason to talk about a fight
25:36that ends in less than two minutes like that's my whole thing when you go in and you have a performance
25:40like that there's no way to really break it down because you seem like you're a very instinctual
25:45fighter so I don't know if you went out there and saw like again chinks in this guy's armor that
25:50you were able to get to right away or if it's just something that you just went in there and you did
25:54your business um well I went in there and just did my business and and before I walked in the ring my
25:59pop was like don't play with him right and that automatically I was all right my switch was already
26:03on I was already locked in but once he said that I'm like say no more like I'm gonna go out there
26:08and go there I'm gonna go out there and just you know get him out of there you know and you know
26:12make a statement that's what I did you know and I you know you can't say nothing when you mention
26:18your pop casually like that when you mention a a you know a legendary trainer it seems like that
26:23relationship is something that benefits you in boxing but we know so many times that's not the
26:28case there are some fight camps that have a father involved they're absolutely fucking cancerous
26:32for the things talk about your relationship with him because I couldn't see myself being on an apron
26:38while my son was in there without having a quick trigger to throw the towel in just to protect my boy
26:42you have to have a certain amount of toughness so talk to us about your dad and whatnot and how he's
26:47affected your career and continues to now uh well my dad you know it's a blessing to have my day in my
26:53corner you know uh and he know he know how it go you know he had my two brothers two other brothers
26:57professional boxers as well so he so he been there before he comfortable in any situation so he know
27:03how to carry herself when his son is in that ring or his his children is in the ring right and uh so
27:08yeah you know it's all always all love you know my dad tough son of a bitch yeah my dad respectfully
27:13yeah my dad definitely he tough on me but you know that made the fighter that I am today you know
27:18and I'm glad that he was tough on me because I like I always say I don't really I don't want no
27:23yes men around me I want I want to be push tell me it be push and tell me like let me know what's
27:27going on like if I don't I don't want I don't want nobody saying that I look good when I didn't
27:33you know just tell me what it is from the rip and if I didn't look good are we gonna go fix this
27:37yeah and and that's what my dad is my dad say whatever and however if you don't like it you
27:44gotta take it up with him 28 year old boots yeah 28 year old boots his dad yeah and you're in a
27:48street fight who wins me see that that's that that might be bullshit that might be fucking capital
27:54you think so you're always doing the whole deal let me ask you something what's wrong with boxing
27:59nowadays like if there's something that you could fix in the sport I'm talking about that pisses you
28:03off like people always talk about dirty judges that's one of the things the right um matchups
28:09don't get made what's the thing that you think boxing could do a little bit better either bringing
28:13even more fans or just to fix the sport for the fighters um boxing I just say like the business
28:20aspect and uh and some of the media like the business boxing media like they they got to get
28:27better with these questions like it's terrible it's horrible like yeah ask the same questions over
28:31how was camp i fucking hate that or already but are you ready like i did two months of this why
28:38if i'm not ready then like no like i wouldn't be ready at all like i don't know i just feel like
28:43they need to get they need to expand the the questions like think outside the box like right
28:50access other questions like outside the box and not only about boxing like because i think too
28:57that's the part that you want to let people see your personality yeah like because i'm sure there
29:02are people now who are like bullshit his dad would have washed him at fucking 28 years old in the
29:06like you know what i mean like all that kind of shit yeah or you know whatever i guess the low
29:11hanging fruit sometimes is the philly stuff but i think boxing can do a better job with the coverage
29:17and trying to bring out like like like some interviews just be boring like it's the same
29:22stuff back to back to back to back to back like like bro i just i want to talk about something
29:26else like yeah like ask me i'd rather you ask me what my favorite color is or something like like
29:31you just keep asking about strict boxing like yeah like we already focused and locked in on boxing as
29:37it is for two months like just you know ask like other questions yeah what's your favorite color
29:41i'm just kidding i'm just fucking with you so now you are out of a by the way for a guy who just
29:47fought a couple of weeks ago you don't got a scratch on you i mean it's such an easy word i'm
29:51always like that though but i know yeah exactly you walk out of there like all right let's do another
29:5512 yeah i so how is it now to be boots waiting to see who your next victim is is one of those things
30:03where you're like large this is the best time of my career i just come off a decisive win i'm waiting
30:08for my next fight i could just do whatever the hell i want i can you know have ice cream in bed
30:13or doing the whole deal how does it feel to be boots right now after the win uh i'm i'm doing all
30:18that with that that you said but i'm still running you know right after i fought um on saturday on
30:24monday i was uh i ran and i went to the gym you know i'm gotta stay locked in you know and and things
30:29like that but yeah you know i right now i'm just chilling where do you get up to and wait in your uh
30:34in between huh where do you get up to and wait what do you walk around is that something you
30:39don't want to say i don't know well really right yeah oh yeah because you're doing that 154 now yeah
30:44i'm at 154 now and i don't check my weight outside of camp okay and just so you know as he starts a
30:51little bit older he's gonna be like yeah my walk around weight's 190 but i get down to 154 no problem
30:55all right so listen this is what the boxing world is hanging on right now they're hanging on
31:01who boots has next right like that's all we care about and that's all he cares about
31:06and even though we don't have the answer to that question i have the answer to what you should be
31:11doing the next time this guy is fucking fighting and that should be in front of a tv get in front of
31:16a tv or get ringside because i'm telling you there aren't many guaranteed showmen anymore and i happen
31:24to be sitting next to him right right now my daughter's a fucking fan my wife is a fan my sons are
31:28certainly fucking fans this is boots you can come back anytime you want to and we can get as deep
31:34or as shallow as you want it's an absolute pleasure wishing nothing but the best of luck we'll see you
