00:00:00What's up, guys? Welcome in. It is Monday here on Wake Up Barstool, and we got Dave Portnoy, Brandon Walker, and the nerds with us.
00:00:09Going to recap an incredible Game 7 of the World Series, maybe the best we've ever seen.
00:00:14An absolutely wild NFL Sunday. We got Greg Olson and John Gruden coming by for the football G-Spot.
00:00:19We also got Coach Gruden's shred line and Brandon Walker's new college football top 10.
00:00:24Let's get it started here on FS1.
00:01:00We got Meek Phil and Liam Blutman, as we talked about behind the glass, and we got Dave Portnoy joining us remotely.
00:01:04Dave, what's up, brother? How are we doing this weekend?
00:01:06Having printer issues over here in the Keys, which is starting the day a little bit on and off.
00:01:12But other than that, I'm doing all right.
00:01:15Michigan win, Patriot win, back-to-back football, victory Mondays for you boys, so I'm doing good.
00:01:22All right, listen, Patriot win, sure, but you were – man, you called that a win really early yesterday.
00:01:28You were living dangerously.
00:01:31With the Patriots?
00:01:32Yeah, you said the Patriots just kill each other.
00:01:34We destroy everybody.
00:01:36We just destroy everybody.
00:01:37Yeah, yeah, no, absolutely.
00:01:38I called it a little early because I believe it was 21-7.
00:01:43We had the ball, looked like we're going in for another score, and then a sack fumble, turned the whole game, and we end up winning by a point.
00:01:51But in this league, and nobody knows it better than me, Bran Walker, I don't care if you win by 30.
00:01:57I don't care if you win by one.
00:01:59These are all paid professionals.
00:02:01Any given Sunday, as that movie says, I mean, you've got the Vikings going out, shocking the Lions.
00:02:08You have the Packers losing to Carolina.
00:02:10In this league of ours, in this great league of ours, you don't get pretty points.
00:02:15You just get points for winning.
00:02:17We've won six in a row, tied for the best record in the AFC, so I don't care.
00:02:22It was pretty ugly, whatever.
00:02:24Remember, oh, in this NFL, a win is a win is a win.
00:02:28You take it, you get out of Dodge, and you move on to next week.
00:02:31Just saying, you won on a missed extra point.
00:02:33It looked like you had jinxed the team there for a while.
00:02:35No, but look, nobody.
00:02:36Well, if some butts with candy every day would be Halloween, we're six and two.
00:02:42Seven and two?
00:02:43Seven and two.
00:02:44Seven and two.
00:02:47I'm going to be at the game in Tampa next week, sitting with my good friend, Mr. Bob Craft, personal invite.
00:02:53So, we're rolling.
00:02:55We're rolling.
00:02:56So, you can say, well, you almost jinxed them.
00:02:59You almost did this.
00:03:00You almost failed.
00:03:02We won the game.
00:03:04That's all that matters to the NFL.
00:03:05That's all that matters.
00:03:06No one knows it better than Dave.
00:03:08You can't take any wins for granted.
00:03:09There's not a single human being on the planet that knows that better than Dave.
00:03:13I've got a question for you, Dave.
00:03:14So, we talked last week about how sometimes, like, when football season's going on, and
00:03:20you have a baseball game, even a World Series game, run up against a football that sometimes
00:03:26it's just hard to break through, whether it's, like, College Bowl Saturday, NFL Sunday.
00:03:30I don't know about y'all.
00:03:31I'll pose a question in the room.
00:03:32But for the first time, probably in my life, I actually four-went football for baseball
00:03:38Saturday night.
00:03:39And I think we saw maybe, arguably, the greatest Game 7 World Series in baseball history.
00:03:46Yeah, well, anytime you have a Game 7 in anything, obviously, that's going to draw people more
00:03:53than it would just Game 5, Game 4.
00:03:56So, that had that going.
00:03:58You also have the YouTube ESPN Skirkoffel going.
00:04:03So, a lot of people aren't adapting to that quite yet.
00:04:06So, a lot of ways that you'd watch football, college wasn't available.
00:04:10I'm not even sure what the night games.
00:04:13I know Walker sneaked through with the Mississippi State.
00:04:15Who was it?
00:04:16Tennessee?
00:04:17Tennessee, Oklahoma.
00:04:18What's going on, yeah.
00:04:19So, that's not a monster game.
00:04:21I watched the World Series.
00:04:23And you're right.
00:04:24I, it's one of the great baseball games ever.
00:04:28I mean, I gasped.
00:04:30Two plays in a row, I gasped.
00:04:33The play at the plate.
00:04:34Yeah.
00:04:34And then I gasped on that, the outfielders, when they smashed into each other.
00:04:39Like, literally, verbally to myself.
00:04:41Like, just two unbelievable plays.
00:04:44I'll tell you what, the play at the plate, when they first showed the replay, I thought
00:04:49he was safe.
00:04:50Like, I thought he wasn't on the plate.
00:04:52And he got back, he was out.
00:04:54But two, two just gut-wrenching plays.
00:04:57And, you know, you can get a little bit romantic about baseball when something happens like
00:05:03that.
00:05:04But the way the pressure amps, the way everything goes, there's really nothing like it.
00:05:08And, of course, the Blue Jays have first and third with one out.
00:05:13And to hit into a double play and just get gut-punched like that.
00:05:16And here's the other thing about this sport in particular.
00:05:20Maybe not like the Dodgers.
00:05:22The Blue Jays aren't going to be back.
00:05:24I mean, I hate to say it.
00:05:25I don't know if we have a lot of our fans out in Toronto.
00:05:29I don't know if we're big there.
00:05:30But you're done.
00:05:31Like, you're not going to be back.
00:05:34And this isn't a sport where you automatically reboot.
00:05:37I don't look at their pitching staff and say, oh, my God, you've got one through five who's
00:05:42going to shut down.
00:05:43You're going to up years, down years.
00:05:45They've got a bunch of free agents.
00:05:46But they're in the AL East where you run into the Yankees.
00:05:50You run into the Red Sox.
00:05:52This team isn't going to be back in that position for another 35 years minimum.
00:05:56So they got their guts ripped out.
00:05:58It's a city that loves to get their guts ripped out with the Maple Leafs.
00:06:03So, you know, I don't know what it says about me.
00:06:08But I was kind of happy they got their guts ripped out.
00:06:11Wow.
00:06:11Crazy.
00:06:12That is so crazy.
00:06:13Yeah, I wasn't rooting for you.
00:06:16Hey, that is so dark.
00:06:19This is, like, the easiest team to empathize with.
00:06:22That's the most hating-ass hater thing I've ever heard.
00:06:25Well, the Dodgers don't bother me.
00:06:27This is a division team in my division.
00:06:29Yeah, it's fair.
00:06:30The Dodgers, like, I don't run into – I don't really – Dodger fans, like, are L.A. softies.
00:06:35They don't really affect me.
00:06:38The Dodgers aren't hateable.
00:06:39I mean, I like Otani.
00:06:40This guy who comes in, Yakimota.
00:06:44Close.
00:06:45I was led to believe that if you pitch two days in a row, your arm falls off, physically falls off.
00:06:53Yeah.
00:06:53For him to come in, I don't know how long they were going to let him go.
00:06:56One of the all-time sports performances.
00:07:00And maybe it's because we live in a world where we've been taught guys can't go more than six innings.
00:07:05Guy throws 90 pitches the day before and bails them out.
00:07:11One of the all-time – it had a little bit of everything.
00:07:13And, yes, there was something that was watching these Toronto fans being like,
00:07:20I didn't want to celebrate.
00:07:22I didn't want an ALA East team, Maple Leafs fans.
00:07:26There's a lot of crossover for Boston there a little bit.
00:07:29But L.A., I don't care about L.A.
00:07:31Like, you play on the West Coast.
00:07:33There's no rivalry for me with the L.A. Dodgers.
00:07:37We beat them last time we were in the World Series.
00:07:39The Blue Jays, I'm too familiar with.
00:07:42I was rooting against them.
00:07:43And I love to see people get their hearts ripped out.
00:07:46I love going into the locker room and seeing these players cry,
00:07:50oh, we're not going to have this group together.
00:07:53It was a special group.
00:07:54I love it.
00:07:55Let's make sports great.
00:07:56Watch these grown men weep crocodile tears.
00:08:00I have some numbers that make it even more cruel.
00:08:02The Blue Jays outscored the Red Sox – outscored the Dodgers 34-26 in the series.
00:08:07The Dodgers only had one batter hit over 300 the entire series.
00:08:10It was Shoyotani.
00:08:11The Blue Jays had six.
00:08:12Wow.
00:08:13The Dodgers hit 203 in the World Series.
00:08:15That is the lowest by a champion since 1966 Orioles.
00:08:18And Miguel Rojas, the batter that tied the game in the ninth inning.
00:08:21He did not hit a home run off a right-handed batter all season.
00:08:24The one home run he hit off a right-handed pitcher.
00:08:26I thought he had one, right?
00:08:27Off a position player.
00:08:28Oh, yeah.
00:08:30He had seven total off right-handed pitchers the entire past three seasons.
00:08:34Meek, I'll give you one more if the guy takes a secondary lead, which you're taught –
00:08:37IKF, yeah.
00:08:39If you're taught to do – and this is why anyone who's played baseball,
00:08:42you do first and third drills, bunt drills.
00:08:44You do these repetitive drills over and over.
00:08:47Get your second – if that guy gets a secondary, they win the World Series.
00:08:51So I'm a little bit like Dave, and I was rooting for the Dodgers in the end,
00:08:54but mine turned during the game when a Blue Jays hitter got hit or got brushed back
00:08:59and the bench is cleared.
00:09:02Nobody's trying to hit you in Game 7 of the World Series.
00:09:05Nobody in the world is trying to hit you in Game 7 of the World Series.
00:09:08And he gets all – his feelings are fluttered, and he's doing all this,
00:09:12and they get the warnings and everything.
00:09:13I'm like, relax, man.
00:09:15Well, I mean, look, I don't think it was as much about like –
00:09:18No, look at him.
00:09:19I saw it.
00:09:20I get it.
00:09:21But I'm confused, Walker.
00:09:22Tensions are high.
00:09:23That's a Blue Jay hitter.
00:09:25What are you saying?
00:09:25That made you root for the Blue Jays?
00:09:30No, that made me root for the Dodgers.
00:09:32Oh, I thought you had it reversed.
00:09:34You were rooting a guy.
00:09:34No, no, no, no.
00:09:35That made me root for the Dodgers.
00:09:36A, the Dodgers were also trying to fight from behind all game, and they did.
00:09:39They just kept going and kept going and kept going.
00:09:41And the guy that comes off the bench, Rojas, right?
00:09:43Yeah.
00:09:44And he hadn't had a hit in a month.
00:09:45Yep.
00:09:45And Dave Roberts said, oh, it's just my gut.
00:09:47I feel like this guy's going to make a play.
00:09:49And he ends up making the biggest play the entire baseball season.
00:09:51It's more cruel it was Rojas to tie than Otani, because if Otani ties, it's like, okay, great
00:09:55player, great moment.
00:09:56Miguel Rojas, no one's going to remember him.
00:09:58And another note on him, he said he wanted to retire after next season.
00:10:01Somebody needs to tell Miguel Rojas to retire right now.
00:10:03You're not getting a better storybook than what just happened.
00:10:05Also, the play, that ground ball, the second he's stumbling and he's bumbling, he makes
00:10:10an unbelievable off-balance throw after he loses his balance.
00:10:13The guy doesn't get a second.
00:10:15There's so many little, and again, you can always go back if you did this differently,
00:10:20but in baseball, it just feels there's so many little, tiny moments if they just broke
00:10:25one 100th the other way that Blue Jays are celebrating, and the whole country was behind
00:10:31them, right?
00:10:31The whole country.
00:10:32I saw a Connor McDavid clip, and he's talking about how the Oilers are playing, and they're
00:10:38showing the Blue Jays game during the Oilers game.
00:10:41He was actually upset.
00:10:42He's like, it's weird.
00:10:43I was distracted.
00:10:44They took it off.
00:10:45But he also said, listen, I'm gutted for the Blue Jays.
00:10:48I'm gutted for the players.
00:10:49I'm gutted for this country.
00:10:51We lose.
00:10:52That's all we do.
00:10:53We lose in horrific fashion.
00:10:55Nobody knows it more than me.
00:10:57And this is a city and a team that has now really made a habit out of being just emasculated
00:11:05on the biggest stage at the biggest moment possible.
00:11:08And I loved it.
00:11:09I don't like anybody winning except my teams.
00:11:13Now, I accept that my teams can't win all the time.
00:11:16So, if somebody else has to win, I want it as far away from me as possible.
00:11:21And like I said, the Dodgers don't really affect my day-to-day life.
00:11:26It's fair.
00:11:27If you want one final salt in the wound for the Blue Jays here, Hoffman up to that point,
00:11:32what, 11 innings pitch, Meek, 16 Ks, one earned run through the entire postseason, then
00:11:38ice cold Rojas gets him.
00:11:39How about this?
00:11:40Have you all ever heard of the concept of the golden pitch?
00:11:44The golden pitch.
00:11:46It's a very rare baseball scenario in which it has to be game seven of the World Series.
00:11:51Right.
00:11:51And it's any pitch in which both teams can win the World Series on that pitch.
00:11:56Oh, that was –
00:11:57We got seven on them.
00:11:58We got seven of them because you had the winning run at home and then you had the double play
00:12:03potential there.
00:12:03And so, you had seven pitches.
00:12:05This is why baseball is so great, right?
00:12:07Just because everything can turn on a dime in those high leverage moments, seven pitches
00:12:11with all that narrative hanging in the air and then, well, the Dodgers get it.
00:12:15It's also – and I've explained – and maybe soccer is the European equivalent, but when
00:12:20you're down a run in baseball, down two runs in baseball, it feels like you're down 28 in
00:12:27football.
00:12:27And in football and in basketball, you – not hockey as much, but you can see, like, the
00:12:35comeback sort of happening.
00:12:37Like, you're like, well, if we drive here, we get a – in baseball, you just – you feel
00:12:43like you're defeated until you're not.
00:12:45Like, you're just sitting there like, oh, this game's over, then bang, lightning strike,
00:12:48home run, you're back in it.
00:12:49And it's just the emotion swings.
00:12:51It really is very unique to the sport.
00:12:55And again, that game seven will live on forever.
00:12:58And I do think, like you're saying, T-Bob, the fact there wasn't a monster game against
00:13:03it in football, the YouTube ESPN thing, I think all was shining on this game seven.
00:13:10And it was an unbelievable game.
00:13:12Well, and you got Japan locked in.
00:13:13You got Canada locked in.
00:13:15Like, the worldwide ratings for this are going to be absolutely insane.
00:13:17And we should say, shout-out to World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who ends up doing
00:13:23his best Randy Johnson impression, winning three games, like you said, 98 pitches the
00:13:28night before, comes in, closes it out, even when he doesn't have his best stuff.
00:13:32It was a legendary performance from Yamamoto.
00:13:35It's the greatest performance in the history of baseball.
00:13:37I truly believe that.
00:13:38Really?
00:13:3896 pitches in game six.
00:13:40You go six innings.
00:13:41And the biggest –
00:13:42Better than the Otani three home runs.
00:13:44Yes, because –
00:13:45What about Bumgarner in 2014?
00:13:4696 pitches in game six.
00:13:48Yeah.
00:13:49Nobody thought he was available besides him.
00:13:51You get eight outs, including with the bases loaded, one out.
00:13:53The season's on the line.
00:13:54They've asked the question, how long would he have gone?
00:13:56I think forever.
00:13:57I think it would have gone forever.
00:13:58So, Kershaw and Sasaki were warming up in the bullpen.
00:14:01I think if it got to Varsha, they would have let Clayton Kershaw pitch to make his last
00:14:05out game seven of the World Series.
00:14:07I still say forever.
00:14:08Maybe, but –
00:14:09I have a question for you.
00:14:10You're a nerd.
00:14:11You like baseball.
00:14:12Am I wrong in my belief that Japanese pitchers are totally different than American pitchers?
00:14:18Like, they pitch a lot more.
00:14:20Their arms are – the way their pitchers are just different.
00:14:23Don't they throw a lot more?
00:14:24The reason they pitch a lot more is because the ball is smaller in Japan, and they also
00:14:27pitch once a week.
00:14:28They go on six days rest as opposed to five.
00:14:31So, it makes Yamamoto D even more unlikely.
00:14:34So, I'm wrong then.
00:14:35So, you didn't answer the question at all.
00:14:39That's very funny because Meek's love of Dave was put to the test because Dave was
00:14:43completely inversely wrong, and he was still kind of like, no, no, no, no, no.
00:14:47Yeah, I thought I heard, like, when the Japanese pitchers came over, it was kind of like they
00:14:50had to really tell them they shouldn't throw as much.
00:14:54Maybe I'm wrong.
00:14:54That could be one of those things.
00:14:55Pitch count-wise, he went up to, like, 150 pitches in a game in Japan.
00:14:59Oh, okay.
00:14:59So, I'd, like –
00:15:00But then you get longer rest.
00:15:01Yeah.
00:15:02I did like that Dave Roberts just said pitch counts are out the window for everybody.
00:15:05It's game seven of the World Series.
00:15:06Yeah, it's game seven.
00:15:07It's just stunning.
00:15:08It's just stunning because in today's age, that's, I think, one of the big gripes maybe
00:15:13of baseball and pitching is the guys don't go long.
00:15:17Like, you know, five innings is a win and guys rarely go six.
00:15:22Like Meek was saying, to see a guy go 90-something pitches the night before, zero days rest, come
00:15:28in and dominate like he did in the most important times, high leverage pitches.
00:15:33Just an absolutely stunning, unbelievable performance.
00:15:37Yeah, and it caps off what was just a great series, man.
00:15:40A series that baseball, I feel like, desperately needed.
00:15:43And look, here it did.
00:15:43After an NFL Sunday, we had Bill's Chief last night.
00:15:45All this stuff.
00:15:46And look at what's leading the show for the entire first segment.
00:15:50So, shout out baseball.
00:15:51Shout out the Dodgers.
00:15:52Shout out Dave's ice-cold, unempathetic heart reveling in the Blue Jays' pain.
00:15:58Coming up next, we've got the Football G-Spot with Greg Olson and John Gruden.
00:16:02Don't go anywhere.
00:16:03It's the best segment every week.
00:16:04We'll break down everything that happened on NFL Sunday.
00:16:06More right here on Wake Up Barstool.
00:16:08It's FS1.
00:16:13What's happening, y'all?
00:16:14Welcome back to Wake Up Barstool.
00:16:16It's time for our favorite segment every single week.
00:16:18That is the Football G-Spot with John Gruden.
00:16:20Greg Olson, take it away, boys.
00:16:21Got me feeling icy.
00:16:23I love football.
00:16:24Knock on wood if you're with me, everybody.
00:16:25Can I finish my points?
00:16:26All right.
00:16:30Welcome in, Greg Coach.
00:16:33And the number one, we thought it would be what the number one thing everyone was talking
00:16:37about this morning would be the Bills Chiefs, but I think it's shifted due to a late injury
00:16:43in the Sunday night game.
00:16:45740 left in the game.
00:16:47The Commanders trailing the Seahawks.
00:16:5038-7.
00:16:51Brutal injury to Jaden Daniels.
00:16:53Oh, we're showing it.
00:16:54Are we going to get criticized for gratuitous grossness here?
00:16:58A real ugly injury.
00:17:00Rolling down.
00:17:01Falls down.
00:17:02Dislocates his elbow.
00:17:03That's been confirmed.
00:17:04We're just showing it.
00:17:06We're just showing it?
00:17:07Oh, God.
00:17:08We don't want to show it.
00:17:10So, and we got...
00:17:11That's a clip we're showing.
00:17:12We got T-Bob laughing in the background.
00:17:14We'll delete that part out.
00:17:16So, everyone is going at Dan Quinn.
00:17:1938-7 in the game.
00:17:22They said, what's he doing in there?
00:17:24Coach, I'm going to start with you.
00:17:25I don't know if you've been in exact similar.
00:17:27I assume you have.
00:17:28What are your thoughts here on him still being in the game?
00:17:31Well, a couple thoughts, Dave.
00:17:32Number one, it is 38-7 with seven minutes left.
00:17:36You probably should take the guy out of the game, given the fact that he's already been
00:17:41hurt twice.
00:17:42There is a thought, however, that Daniels and this offense, they've got to come together
00:17:47and find some kind of identity.
00:17:49Let's get them a couple completions.
00:17:51Maybe get them a couple mop-up touchdowns.
00:17:54And maybe get this offense going.
00:17:56They have just not looked good at all.
00:17:58Daniels is scrambling on almost every single drop-back pass.
00:18:03I would have taken them out, given the circumstances of the game.
00:18:06But I know deep down, Cliff Kingsbury and their commander staff probably wanted to generate
00:18:12a little bit of confidence, try to get some positive momentum for this offense that has
00:18:17really disappeared.
00:18:18Greg?
00:18:19Yeah, unfortunately, I've been in many games where we were on the wrong side of the scoreboard
00:18:24and you find yourself in the fourth quarter and you start looking at the clock and you're
00:18:28saying, all right, how long am I going to be in here?
00:18:30If I am in here, my expectation is I've got to play hard.
00:18:33I've got to compete.
00:18:34What you put on film is what you are.
00:18:36That's kind of a big kind of narrative around the league amongst the players.
00:18:40I hate second-guessing coaches in these situations.
00:18:45I think it's a lose-lose.
00:18:46I think, obviously, if they knew he was going to get hurt, they would have taken him out of
00:18:51there.
00:18:51He could have gotten hurt in the third quarter.
00:18:53He could have gotten hurt and the score was 14-7.
00:18:56So, it's so hard in the NFL to make the call on when you're going to take guys out of a
00:19:03competitive game.
00:19:03I think you've scored seven points up to that point.
00:19:06You're trying, to coach's point, you're trying to put together something positive, something
00:19:11at the end of the game to go into the locker room, to go into the next week, to build off
00:19:16of.
00:19:17You hear coaches say it all the time.
00:19:18I've been in those huddles.
00:19:19I've been in those locker rooms where it's like, hey, we are going to play for four quarters
00:19:23regardless of the score, and we're going to try to build as much as we can out of each
00:19:27opportunity.
00:19:28There was a lot of starters on the other side.
00:19:31On Seattle, there was a lot of starters who were playing as well.
00:19:35So, I don't know.
00:19:36I have a really hard time second-guessing coaches in the moment, especially a struggling
00:19:41offense that's trying to get a young quarterback and a scheme and young receivers, beat up
00:19:46roster, trying to get some continuity and find a little bit rhythm as they close that
00:19:52game out.
00:19:53Yeah, I agree with you, Greg.
00:19:56I can't criticize a coach in that situation because they don't have bigger issues now
00:20:04that he got hurt, but they really weren't playing well leading up to it.
00:20:07So, you've got to get them going.
00:20:09He's coming off an injury.
00:20:11He's your whole team.
00:20:12I think the bigger issue is what Coach Gruden was just saying.
00:20:15He's running all the time, and he's a fragile guy in a sense, not big, skinny.
00:20:21And, you know, if he's not going to get hurt on that play, the way Washington is going,
00:20:26he's going to get hurt at some point again because he's taken a million hits.
00:20:29Sure, he can take them out, but I remember Wes Welker got hurt.
00:20:33Belichick never took teams out.
00:20:35Wes Welker got hurt on a meaningless blowout.
00:20:37They were ahead heading into the playoffs.
00:20:39To a degree, I think you've got to play football.
00:20:41Maybe you get a little more conservative, but that team was already going to be on our loser
00:20:47board heading into today, regardless if he got hurt, because they had huge expectations,
00:20:53and they've been pretty bad.
00:20:54That leads us into the winners and losers of the week.
00:20:57Coach, I know you are a Packers guy.
00:21:01We've sat here, and you've told me how, you know, the Packers are the best team in the league
00:21:05and this and that, and then you turn around.
00:21:07They've lost to Cleveland.
00:21:09They've lost to Carolina.
00:21:11Are they still one of your Super Bowl favorites, Coach?
00:21:16Well, I don't know, Dave.
00:21:17After losing Tucker Kraft, that is a big blow to the Packers.
00:21:21That was a disappointing outcome.
00:21:23They were 13-and-a-half-point favorites.
00:21:27I can't explain what is going on in the NFL.
00:21:30I mean, the Lions coming off a bye, the Packers both in the same division.
00:21:34They just don't look good in Green Bay yesterday at all, and I give Carolina credit.
00:21:39They came in with a ball control offense, and they just ran the clock and won the game
00:21:44a field position, and they got enough out of their field goal kicker.
00:21:48But Green Bay, you're right, Dave.
00:21:51They ticked me off basically yesterday.
00:21:53I was shocked at their inability to get anything going on offense.
00:21:58And I'm telling you, losing Kraft is big, man, because he bails them out in a lot of situations,
00:22:03and he's a good blocker.
00:22:05Some of the things he does doesn't even show up on the stat sheet.
00:22:08But that was a horrific loss for Green Bay.
00:22:10Greg, you called the game.
00:22:11I mean, people were getting mad at me because I said Drake may have him way ahead of Jordan
00:22:16Love on my big board of QB rankings.
00:22:18Greg, what did you think?
00:22:19You called the game.
00:22:20Yeah, I mean, it played out exactly the way Carolina needed it to play out to pull a game
00:22:27like that off, and it was to play limited possessions, play ball control.
00:22:31They made the decision.
00:22:32They won the toss.
00:22:33They took the ball, kept Green Bay on the sideline.
00:22:36Now, part of that was the wind and the weather, and it was kind of a crazy day wind-wise, and
00:22:40the kicking and the passing game was a bit kind of disjointed.
00:22:44But it was Green Bay touched the ball eight times, didn't punt, and scored 13 points.
00:22:50It's just, I think they need to put the game more in Jordan Love's hands.
00:22:55They are a good passing offense going into that game.
00:22:57I had Jordan Love as a top five guy through the first half of the year.
00:23:01He was a top five quarterback in the league this season, and I think they need to let him
00:23:06do more.
00:23:07I think he's a really talented guy.
00:23:10I think he can sling it all over.
00:23:11I think they've got young, talented wide receivers.
00:23:15I agree.
00:23:15Tucker Craft going down is just devastating.
00:23:18That was such a fluke, random play.
00:23:21He was the second puller and counter coach, and the defensive end comes out and takes
00:23:26out the guard's legs.
00:23:27And as the guard gets his legs kicked up, he kicks the side of Craft's knee.
00:23:32And you heard LaFleur after the game say it didn't look good.
00:23:35It obviously didn't look good in person.
00:23:37But yeah, that was a shock.
00:23:39We went into the game saying, all right, how does Carolina just keep it close?
00:23:43And then next thing you know, not only do they keep it close, they make just enough
00:23:46plays there.
00:23:47At the end, Rico Dowdle is a dude.
00:23:50He is a man.
00:23:51He is everything you want your back to be if you're going to be a ball control, 30 touch
00:23:55a game type of a running team.
00:23:59He is a huge difference maker.
00:24:01Getting back to him being the focal point of that Carolina offense was a big move.
00:24:06But I almost had to do a double take.
00:24:08They got to score.
00:24:10They got to be able to move the ball and then finish in the red zone.
00:24:12I had to do a double take when we did this graphic.
00:24:14I think if we asked most Americans, is Carolina 5-4, they would have looked at you like you're
00:24:22nuts.
00:24:22One of the sneakiest 5-4 teams.
00:24:25I mean, even the way we're talking about them in this game, like, well, the Packers didn't
00:24:30show up.
00:24:31Everything went against them.
00:24:32They got to do this.
00:24:34We're giving almost no respect to a Carolina team that's 5-4 in this league.
00:24:39No, I'm giving them a ton.
00:24:41I think Canales was brilliant in his game strategy.
00:24:44I think the way he laid the game out, connecting his offensive strategy with special teams
00:24:48taking the ball, and then obviously getting the wind in the fourth quarter for the game
00:24:52winning kick.
00:24:54Offensively, ball control, time of possession, long methodical drives.
00:24:58Obviously, they just handed it to Rico a billion times.
00:25:01And then defensively, it was bend, don't break.
00:25:03They gave up a couple chunk plays over the top, but for the most part, kept it long 8-10 play
00:25:08drives, and then they took the ball away twice, and they made Green Bay settle for field goals.
00:25:13Like, that's modern offense.
00:25:15That's modern defense.
00:25:17And that is what everyone around the league should be doing.
00:25:20It should be light boxes, heavy coverages.
00:25:22If you run the ball on me, I don't care.
00:25:25I'm going to make you go the length of the field.
00:25:27Don't throw it over my head for one-play touchdowns.
00:25:29And I'm going to spend all week trying to be as good as humanly possible defending the
00:25:34red zone.
00:25:35If you do that, you are going to find yourself in a lot of games in today's NFL.
00:25:40I think you've got to tip your hat to the mental toughness of the Carolina team.
00:25:44I watched them a week ago against Buffalo.
00:25:46And Buffalo, I think they were going to run for 500 yards.
00:25:50I mean, Cook had 220 yards rushing on 15 carries.
00:25:54He was untouched to the end zone three times.
00:25:56They got their brains beat in.
00:25:59And now they go on the road at Green Bay.
00:26:01I don't know who the heck some of these guys are on defense, Greg.
00:26:05But this Christian Roseboom guy, I mean, he had 15 tackles, man.
00:26:09And the mental toughness that they showed as a football team going into Lambeau and knocking
00:26:14out Green Bay says a lot about Canales and the character of this team.
00:26:19Yeah.
00:26:19I called that Buffalo game.
00:26:21So, I mean, I literally saw Carolina both extremes.
00:26:23I called them at home, get bludgeoned by Buffalo.
00:26:26Then follow them on the road and watch them win a game in Lambeau against what a lot of
00:26:31people, including myself.
00:26:33I started the broadcast saying them is Green Bay and Philly.
00:26:36Are those the two teams to be in the NFC?
00:26:39Now you start saying maybe it's Seattle and Philly.
00:26:42Maybe.
00:26:42I don't know.
00:26:43I don't know if it is.
00:26:44Seattle looked great.
00:26:45Seattle looked great yesterday.
00:26:46We'll get to that game.
00:26:47But the headline game was the re and I don't even know how you look at the Chiefs bills.
00:26:52The bills, I don't even think the score really indicated how badly they beat them.
00:26:58I thought the bills pretty much controlled this game.
00:27:00They win by a touchdown.
00:27:02The question is, does it matter?
00:27:04Because the bills now five and oh in the regular season versus the Chiefs.
00:27:08Then you flip it to the postseason, which by the way, if it started tomorrow, the Chiefs
00:27:12would not be in.
00:27:13I don't think.
00:27:14I don't think anyone here thinks they're going to miss the playoffs.
00:27:17But what do you do with this game?
00:27:20Yeah, it's an important game for Buffalo, but they've already proven they can beat the
00:27:23Chiefs lights out in the regular season.
00:27:25Greg, what do you got here on this game?
00:27:27Yeah, I think it's this is what we've seen the last couple of years.
00:27:30I think if you ask Sean McDermott, if you ask Brandon Bean, if you ask Josh Allen, if
00:27:35you ask the powers to be in Buffalo, the expectation behind closed doors is everything.
00:27:42The regular season is a formality.
00:27:44And that's a that's a compliment to what they've done over the last couple of years.
00:27:50All of the time, all of the energy being spent there is how do they get this team to
00:27:54peak to play winning ball come playoffs?
00:27:56It is get to the Super Bowl time.
00:27:58They are Super Bowl or bust.
00:28:00That's their roster.
00:28:01They got the MVP of the league.
00:28:02They've been a consistent winner and they haven't been able to get past Kansas City in the playoffs.
00:28:08They think this style of play, the run game, the big personnels, they're offloading some
00:28:13of the, you know, kind of the hero ball off of Josh Allen at times, which I think is going
00:28:17to help them, especially when they get to the playoffs and defense and run game does have
00:28:21a little bit more impact on wins and losses as opposed to the regular season.
00:28:25So, yeah, they won't shy away.
00:28:28The reality is everything they're going to be judged upon is how they do in the playoffs.
00:28:32And they've earned that.
00:28:33They, that's the type of team that they are, that is not the norm across the league.
00:28:37But when you're a team that's a perennial contender and you can't quite get over that
00:28:41next step, that's where all the eyeballs are going to lay.
00:28:44And I didn't catch much of the game, but I had, again, I had them the week before against
00:28:48Carolina.
00:28:49They looked awesome.
00:28:50And yeah, this is a Super Bowl or bust.
00:28:52Can they win in an AFC that maybe is not as strong as we came into the season thinking
00:28:57they were going to be right.
00:28:58And I think, you know, Baltimore's down, you know, how good are the Chargers?
00:29:02How good are the Broncos?
00:29:03And then obviously Kansas City.
00:29:04So maybe the AFC is down and you've got a shot.
00:29:07They're not, they're not even first place in their division right now, Gregory.
00:29:11The Patriots, I know.
00:29:13John, what'd you think?
00:29:14Any importance on this win considering what happens in the postseason?
00:29:18Well, I just think home field advantage is a really important thing in the playoffs.
00:29:23And normally this game at the end of the year will have a lot to do with who has home
00:29:27field advantage throughout.
00:29:28But to your point, Dave, right now, Kansas City's got four losses.
00:29:33I do think Buffalo sent a message, though, to Kansas City that we ain't going away.
00:29:39I think Joey Bosa is a huge addition for this Buffalo team.
00:29:43And obviously, if Kansas City doesn't get their tackle back, Josh Simmons on the left
00:29:48side, and if Jawan Taylor continues to make penalties on the right side, they're going
00:29:53to have a hard time getting to the championship again and winning it.
00:29:55But I was really impressed with Buffalo, man.
00:29:58This Josh Allen, you talk about the beast of the East.
00:30:01They don't really get it done with receivers on the outside.
00:30:05They lean on Cook.
00:30:06They lean on his scrambling.
00:30:07Quick screens to Shakir and Dalton Kincaid made his presence felt.
00:30:12Buffalo is a hell of a team at home.
00:30:15If they can get home field throughout the playoffs, I'll still take Buffalo to get to the Super
00:30:20Bowl.
00:30:21Last question.
00:30:22If you're a fan of these two teams, which team are you waking up more sad and be like,
00:30:28maybe we're not who we thought.
00:30:29The Colts throw an absolute, their first real dud of the season, losing to, I don't think,
00:30:35a very good Steelers team.
00:30:36A great win for the Steelers.
00:30:38And then the Lions, which to me was an absolute stunner because I do have the Lions in my group
00:30:44of teams that could be a Super Bowl team.
00:30:45Lions lose at home, basically double-digit favorites to J.J. McCarthy and the Vikings.
00:30:51So what was more alarming?
00:30:53Are we still in the part of the season where things are shifting?
00:30:56I mean, we come on the show and it's like, well, the team we're praising one week, we're
00:31:01absolutely dragging a middle earth the next.
00:31:04I don't know when that changes, but what loss shocked you or would be like, oh, maybe this
00:31:08team isn't what we thought.
00:31:09Coach, I'll start with you.
00:31:10Colts or the Lions?
00:31:12Yeah, that's a tough one.
00:31:14I would say the Lions, honestly, coming off a bye week, playing at home where they've
00:31:19had great success against a quarterback that hasn't even played.
00:31:24And they're playing an opponent that they've had a lot of success again.
00:31:27They have had Minnesota's number, but they didn't get the running game going.
00:31:31They chose to throw a lot of these bubble screens and quick screens, which you like, Dave.
00:31:36And it just didn't ever feel like the Lions got into a rhythm at all.
00:31:42And Minnesota wasn't unbelievable on offense.
00:31:45But I give McCarthy credit, man.
00:31:47He audibled a couple times.
00:31:48He scrambled a few times.
00:31:50Other than the interception, he played a good game.
00:31:53But I'm surprised.
00:31:54Detroit lost 30-17 in Kansas City.
00:31:58Now this loss to Minnesota.
00:32:00They're not the same Lion team they were a year ago.
00:32:03Greg?
00:32:04Yeah, I agree.
00:32:05When I was watching the scores kind of roll in during our game, that game caught my attention.
00:32:10I mean, Indianapolis has been a great story.
00:32:12I think they're playing real ball.
00:32:13I think they're going to be a playoff team.
00:32:15Shane Steichen, if they continue to win, you know, you get into the whole coach of the
00:32:18year, what he's done with Daniel Jones, turning that around from a season ago.
00:32:22But yeah, I agree with coach.
00:32:24I think the Lions game, I think Minnesota had a lot of noise, a lot of questions swirling around
00:32:29the quarterback position.
00:32:30We find out Carson Wentz has been playing, banged up with that shoulder, just kind of
00:32:34bridging the gap until they get J.J. McCarthy back off the ankle.
00:32:38And then there was a lot of speculation and rumor about, you know, how committed are they
00:32:42to J.J. McCarthy?
00:32:43And, you know, you get mixed reports coming out of Minnesota.
00:32:46So I thought Detroit, for a team that's been in the fire now the last couple years, been
00:32:51a true contender, been one of the better teams, you know, one of the best teams in the
00:32:55NFC as opposed to Indianapolis, which is kind of the feel-good story right now.
00:33:00They're still kind of getting used to winning again, getting used to being a team that people
00:33:04circle on their schedule to go after.
00:33:08Detroit's been that now for the last couple years.
00:33:10So yeah, that game surprised me a little bit.
00:33:13I like a lot of what Minnesota did.
00:33:15I had them earlier in the year.
00:33:17And I, at the time, I called some of their early games.
00:33:20I was like, they got a shot here.
00:33:21The defense with Flores is really exotic and aggressive, and they get after you.
00:33:26I love Kevin O'Connell.
00:33:27I think he calls good ball.
00:33:28I kind of faded on him a little bit the last couple weeks.
00:33:31I didn't think they looked good on either side of the ball, but that was a heck of a
00:33:34statement against a really good Lions team that, again, a lot of people have them, you
00:33:39know, at or near the top of the NFC, along with, you know, Philly and Seattle and, you
00:33:44know, that group.
00:33:46Yeah, Seattle looked real.
00:33:47We maybe cut them short, but they were dominating last night.
00:33:50And also, I get a good credit to JJ.
00:33:53I don't know if you saw what he wore to the game in his postgame, but he had the
00:33:57Sharon Moore blue-collar car mechanic JJ blue shirt on.
00:34:02So that Michigan culture float into the NFL, getting the blue-collar work back to W's.
00:34:08Speaking of college, Greg, I think you were all pepped up on Miami earlier in the year.
00:34:14He suffers a second devastating loss.
00:34:18And if you go online, Danny Boy, Kane, and crew, they are not happy with Mario Cristobal,
00:34:24where I know you played with him.
00:34:26What are your thoughts on the you right now?
00:34:29Yeah.
00:34:29Listen, the reality is the reality.
00:34:31It's disappointing, you know, to now give up two after you find yourself clearly, you
00:34:36know, not only in the hunt to be in the ACC championship and compete for, you know, the
00:34:40first ever conference title, which is hard to believe since they've moved to the ACC.
00:34:44But, you know, it felt like they had a clear path to, you know, making it to the, you know,
00:34:48to the college football playoff.
00:34:50And now with these two losses, I don't know what the future holds.
00:34:54It's disappointing.
00:34:55Obviously, I'm biased.
00:34:56I love Mario as a guy.
00:34:57We go way back.
00:34:58I've known him.
00:34:59He coached me.
00:35:00I've known him since I was a kid.
00:35:01So obviously, I'm always rooting for him.
00:35:03I'm rooting for the school.
00:35:05But the reality is when you beat Notre Dame and you beat Florida and you beat Florida
00:35:08State and things are rolling high and when they get to two in the country, three in the
00:35:12country at the height.
00:35:13So like expectations are real, especially at a school like Miami that people are just dying
00:35:17to officially say, all right, Miami is back to what we know of 15 years ago, 20 years
00:35:23ago.
00:35:23And, you know, it just seems this continues to be the hurdle we just can't get over.
00:35:29We can't sustain that after early season September success.
00:35:32We can't sustain it into the back half of the season.
00:35:36And that's just real.
00:35:37And again, it's not criticism.
00:35:38It's not that we don't like them.
00:35:39I root for them.
00:35:40I pull.
00:35:40But the reality of the college football landscape is it's very competitive.
00:35:45It's real.
00:35:46And you've got to come to play every single week.
00:35:49And they just haven't been able to do that.
00:35:52We may have another Malisek may have to get the Gruden coaching availability board up there
00:35:57and add another school real soon.
00:35:59Coach, you're going to wait for an update.
00:36:01When are we going to get an update?
00:36:02I feel like if anybody should get the update, it's us coming on the show.
00:36:05It should be broken on the show.
00:36:07The big board.
00:36:07He's going to have, he can live anywhere in the country at this point.
00:36:10There's a new job opening every other day.
00:36:12Man, coach, give us something.
00:36:15I'm speechless.
00:36:16I don't know what to say to you guys.
00:36:17All I know is I hear port noise coming to Tampa this weekend.
00:36:21That's all I know for the Tampa Bay two-time world champions coming off their bye.
00:36:26I can't wait to see you, boss.
00:36:28Bucks, Pats, big game.
00:36:30Listen, everyone polishing Buffalo this, Buffalo that, home field this, home field that.
00:36:37The Patriots have the best record in the NFC, my friends.
00:36:39And we already beat Buffalo on the road in a mark of all great.
00:36:43We didn't play our best football yesterday.
00:36:45But as I was lecturing Brandon and T-Bob in this great league of ours, the NFL, I don't
00:36:50care if you win by one or a thousand, it's hard to win in this league.
00:36:55And if you get a win, you take it and you go.
00:36:57That's what the great teams do.
00:36:58So if we beat Buffalo at home, the Super Bowl may, I would, this is a true story.
00:37:05I was looked up.
00:37:06It's in Santa Clara this year.
00:37:08Back in my heyday, I'd start booking my hotels right about now for the Super Bowl.
00:37:12And I wasn't happy.
00:37:13I think Santa Clara is a lousy Super Bowl city.
00:37:16That's how far advanced I'm looking.
00:37:19I'm looking at travel.
00:37:20So if we beat Buffalo at home, it goes through Foxborough.
00:37:24And that's a place.
00:37:24You know how many times the Chiefs have beaten the Patriots in playoffs?
00:37:28Zero.
00:37:29All right.
00:37:29Thanks, guys.
00:37:30I don't like Santa Clara either.
00:37:31I lost to Super Bowl.
00:37:32It's a terrible Super Bowl city.
00:37:34Well, I don't.
00:37:34I just hate it because we lost.
00:37:36So I'm just, I just, I'm holding a grudge because we lost.
00:37:39So Cam Newton not falling on the fumble.
00:37:42Relax, Dave.
00:37:43All right.
00:37:44I'll see you guys later.
00:37:46See you guys later.
00:37:54What's up, guys?
00:37:54Welcome back.
00:37:55Wake up Barstool.
00:37:57It is time to talk some college football.
00:37:59That was a really good breakdown on the G-Spot.
00:38:01I loved what Olsen was talking about with modern defense, actually.
00:38:04Always great insight from the football G-Spot.
00:38:06But now, though, it's time for college football's number one media personality.
00:38:11That's right.
00:38:12The man who will forget more college football than you'll ever know.
00:38:16Brandon Walker has a brand new college football top ten.
00:38:19All right.
00:38:20So, obviously, the big story from the weekend in college football is Mississippi State getting
00:38:23their first conference win in two years.
00:38:25That was huge and gigantic.
00:38:27Showed the heart and the grit of a champion.
00:38:29This is probably the best 5-4 team in the country.
00:38:31But here we go.
00:38:32I got number one, Ohio State.
00:38:33They continue to just, listen, they played a corpse of a Penn State team.
00:38:37Penn State showed a little bit of fight and a little bit of vigor.
00:38:39But Ohio State, Julian Sane, is probably the best quarterback in the country.
00:38:43So, again, we have this debate a little bit Saturday night.
00:38:47He is very good, and he's on an incredible team.
00:38:51We're like, look, if you took any top quarterback and you give them those two receivers to throw
00:38:55to, they're going to look pretty damn good.
00:38:56Julian Sane's playing perfect right now.
00:38:58We got Indiana at number two, A&M at number three.
00:39:00I still got Alabama at four.
00:39:01I got Georgia at five just to prop them up for when they get beat this weekend.
00:39:05BYU up to six.
00:39:06Oregon slides down to seven.
00:39:07BYU passes them.
00:39:08I got Ole Miss eight.
00:39:09Notre Dame, nine.
00:39:10And then Texas Tech, number ten.
00:39:12Notre Dame sneaking back over.
00:39:13Not in the top ten with the two losses from earlier this season, but I think they are
00:39:17a very good team.
00:39:19And then I had Mississippi State 11 and Texas 12 because those are probably the next two
00:39:22best teams.
00:39:23Dave, I see a quizzical look on your face.
00:39:25No, I don't.
00:39:27It's a BYU thing, right?
00:39:29No, I'd have BYU.
00:39:30I mean, BYU, I'm going to have the same argument.
00:39:33They didn't play this week, and they certainly will be talking about them next week at this
00:39:38time one way or the other because they have a monster game against Texas Tech.
00:39:41I think BYU and Texas Tech are the two best teams in the Big 12.
00:39:46Listen, I don't disagree with anything you said.
00:39:49In fact, even though I am a diehard Michigan guy, I think I was actually the first one on
00:39:56any public airway that said Julian Sayon scared the bejesus out of me.
00:40:01He's very good.
00:40:02I get that.
00:40:03I do think we're overlooking what Michigan did.
00:40:07Probably a lot of people are watching that World Series game, but they absolutely brutalized.
00:40:12A five-point win over Purdue?
00:40:14What?
00:40:15They brutalized them with that run game at the end there when they needed to get a first
00:40:20down.
00:40:20They got it.
00:40:21You can't even say it with a straight face.
00:40:22They used to cruise along in a collision course for Ohio State.
00:40:26I saw that Bryce Underwood, who I think is a very talented freshman, is on pace to almost
00:40:30get to 10 touchdown passes this year.
00:40:32So kudos to that electric offense.
00:40:34I don't know the injury on Donovan McCulley got hurt.
00:40:39I don't know what he is.
00:40:40We're going to have to be full strength for the Buckeyes, no doubt.
00:40:43And we can't sleepwalk.
00:40:45We got to buy this week in the Northwestern.
00:40:47But yeah, it was a fairly formful college football Saturday, wasn't it?
00:40:54I mean, Miami, I guess, losing was a shocker.
00:40:57Georgia Tech losing as well.
00:40:58Georgia Tech.
00:40:59That wasn't that.
00:41:00Did that surprise you that much?
00:41:01No, not really.
00:41:02And we had this debate last week about why isn't BYU and Georgia Tech higher?
00:41:06And I'm like, Georgia Tech's just not very good.
00:41:07Georgia Tech's tried to lose like two or three times.
00:41:09They finally got it done.
00:41:10But if you went into that weekend, the ACC looked a lot stronger on paper than it looks
00:41:15coming out because Miami loses.
00:41:17Now Georgia Tech loses.
00:41:18And when everybody's going to be getting together and trying to figure out the 12 over the next few
00:41:22weeks, it is now clear the ACC has become probably a one-bid league when last week we would have
00:41:27said it was a two-bid league.
00:41:28So that kind of cleaned some things up as far as the college football playoff goes.
00:41:31Yeah, that is where we always go down our rabbit holes here because I don't – I just think
00:41:36they're – again, in all these conferences, they're far more similar than they are dissimilar,
00:41:42meaning like, all right, ACC, Florida State still – I know you're going to say week one,
00:41:46but Florida State trashed Alabama, and if you look around, Kentucky goes and gets a win
00:41:51in the SEC.
00:41:53These conferences, it's just hard to go unblemished through.
00:41:56You have two teams who have clearly separated.
00:41:59Three.
00:42:00I'll give A&M credit.
00:42:02Sure.
00:42:02They haven't lost.
00:42:03So you got Ohio State, Indiana, A&M, who I really think are clearly right now the three
00:42:09best teams.
00:42:10And you go look at it.
00:42:10I mean, Florida could have beat Georgia the other day.
00:42:12These conferences are very similar, so nothing is overly surprising.
00:42:18I guess you got to mention Nebraska, man.
00:42:21They look poised to maybe get a victory, albeit versus a lowly ranked top 25 team.
00:42:28They've lost now 29 straight times to the great teams.
00:42:33That is – that stat is starting to go up there like a Joe DiMaggio hit streak, like something
00:42:39that may never be broken.
00:42:40They lose the quarterback to a fibula injury.
00:42:44I hated these all-black uniforms to start.
00:42:47It's big red.
00:42:47I get that they're black shirts on defense.
00:42:50I knew they weren't winning this game in these uniforms, but my God.
00:42:54And Will Compton, I texted him.
00:42:57I said, you know, God only gives – it was as tough as battles to his strongest soldiers.
00:43:03That's right, yeah.
00:43:0429 straight losses to ranked teams for Nebraska football.
00:43:11This may be the saddest team in college football, Nebraska.
00:43:17Well, not only that, not only that, but listen, this coaching carousel is going as it is, and
00:43:21there was the Penn State stuff with Matt Rule.
00:43:23They just gave an extension and a lot more money to a guy that can't beat a ranked team.
00:43:28Yeah.
00:43:2929 straight.
00:43:31And now there's teams like – I don't know.
00:43:34I'm sure who's – I'm trying to think who – like a Mississippi State.
00:43:37If you told me that was their record, I'd be like, well, they're horrible.
00:43:42But Nebraska always seems to have some degree of hope.
00:43:46They got the national championship pedigree, albeit a long time ago.
00:43:50But 29 – this isn't Purdue – 29 straight losses for ranked teams.
00:44:00Do you know the Matt Rule stats versus the ranked teams?
00:44:03Did you see those floating around?
00:44:04It's about the same.
00:44:05It can't be good.
00:44:05So on a week in which Matt Rule gets extended to 20-32, he is now 0-8 at Nebraska against
00:44:12ranked teams, and he's 2-22 for his – 22-24.
00:44:17It should be 2-24 for his entire career.
00:44:20He's – in fact, even in the two wins, the highest ranked team he beat was ranked 23rd.
00:44:26Well, and that's where we mention – Matt Rule, by all accounts, is a very nice guy.
00:44:33He's come on this program.
00:44:34I've gone on his podcast, so I like the guy.
00:44:38But I don't – they're protecting this guy like he's the reincarnate of Nick Saban
00:44:43and Bill Belichick at their primes.
00:44:45I don't – I don't get – when they said Penn State was trying to steal Matt Rule
00:44:50and Penn State – and Nebraska is trying to protect him, which they do, and give him
00:44:55a contract.
00:44:55This ain't Kurt Scenetti.
00:44:57This is a guy 0-29 versus ranked teams in Nebraska.
00:45:01Crazy.
00:45:02Yeah, and we have another job open in the SEC.
00:45:05Hugh Freeze is out at Auburn.
00:45:07Listen, I – if you talk about shocked on Saturday, I was shocked when Auburn lost
00:45:12Kentucky, because Auburn has been this close all year, and they came out with nothing.
00:45:16No life, no anything.
00:45:18They put in a new quarterback.
00:45:19He couldn't do anything.
00:45:20They were awful.
00:45:21Hugh Freeze out of there.
00:45:22So that's now four SEC jobs, right?
00:45:24You got Arkansas.
00:45:25You got LSU.
00:45:25You got Florida.
00:45:26And you got Auburn.
00:45:28I think it's a very good job.
00:45:29But they're also crazy down there.
00:45:31If anybody's going to upset the Alphard and do something really stupid during this coaching
00:45:35cycle, it's the Auburn Tigers.
00:45:38Well, I think you get delusion, right, in college football.
00:45:41All these teams think they should be one-loss playoff bowl teams.
00:45:46But you're going to consistently nowadays in this NIL era, in the League of Parity, it's
00:45:54hard to do that.
00:45:55And you're going to have stunning losses.
00:45:57And I don't know what you do.
00:45:58It goes back to James Franklin.
00:45:59We'll find out whether that is a premature move.
00:46:04Because you have one bad year.
00:46:05You get rid of the guy.
00:46:06Time will tell.
00:46:07Well, the thing about Auburn, though, is they have a delusional fan base who believes they
00:46:11should win a national title every year.
00:46:13And they're going crazy because their two main rivals are Alabama and Georgia.
00:46:16And over the last decade, that's enough to drive a man insane.
00:46:19Well, yeah.
00:46:20And maybe like what Dave's talking about, I think that maybe applies more to like an LSU,
00:46:24where the bottom never fell out at LSU.
00:46:27Brian Kelly's just deeply unlikable and whatnot.
00:46:30Auburn's been garbage.
00:46:31They've been complete garbage under Hugh Freeze.
00:46:33They've invested a ton of money.
00:46:35They have a lot of NFL talent on the roster.
00:46:37I mean, Liam, how do you feel about Cam Coleman and those weapons and the offensive purgatory
00:46:42that Hugh Freeze has kept them in?
00:46:44Yeah, depression.
00:46:46There's no other word to describe it.
00:46:49Cam Coleman has shown signs of early onset George Pickens.
00:46:52And rightfully so.
00:46:56If I was a highly touted wide receiver, there's so many things I'd rather do than go play football
00:47:03at Auburn, Fort Hugh Freeze, Jackson Arnold, Daniels.
00:47:07Like, what a disaster.
00:47:09I could go play anywhere else.
00:47:11Cam Coleman's probably been looking at a new place in Tuscaloosa.
00:47:17Oh yeah, he's bound to get paid.
00:47:18Wherever it be.
00:47:20Cam Coleman's been.
00:47:20Him, Aaron Singleton, all those guys.
00:47:22He's getting a sick chunk of change before he gets that big time NFL night.
00:47:26That's like one of college football's most underperforming players, strictly because of
00:47:29the position that he's in, feel bad for Cam Coleman to watch Cam Coleman.
00:47:35He chose to go there, Liam.
00:47:37Of course he chose to go there.
00:47:38You can still feel bad for a guy when, yeah, you're questioning why Auburn didn't show up
00:47:43on Saturday.
00:47:43And I'm thinking, well, yeah, they paid Jackson Arnold good money and they end up benching
00:47:48him.
00:47:48I think Hugh Freeze just lost the team.
00:47:51I think the team is very cognizant of the fact that, hey, Daniels can't throw a football
00:47:55either.
00:47:56He's significantly worse than Arnold.
00:47:58It was a move out of desperation for Hugh, but the team also knows, like, yeah, we're
00:48:03dead.
00:48:04Yeah.
00:48:04Look, hour one of the books here on Wake Up Barstool.
00:48:06Still a ton of NFL talk and college football to get to in hour number two.
00:48:10We've got Coach Gruden's shred line as well.
00:48:11Stick around here on FS1.
00:48:21Welcome back to Wake Up Barstool here on FS1.
00:48:23Still going to get to a lot of NFL Sunday.
00:48:25Patriot Dave, I know still probably has many thoughts lined up.
00:48:29I want to talk about that insane Bears-Bingles game.
00:48:31But one of the big kind of sports stories over the weekend, you just go look on Twitter
00:48:35or wherever else, it's about the Internet Invitational, a massive YouTube golf tournament,
00:48:41Dave, that you were one of the architects of.
00:48:42And it's a lot of drama surrounding Luke Kwan.
00:48:48Is he a good guy?
00:48:49Is he a bad guy?
00:48:50Did he get too much grief?
00:48:51Did he not?
00:48:52I loved Gruden's speech.
00:48:53Kind of telling everybody, look, we got to lock it in anyway.
00:48:56But yeah, it's been, it has been crime content.
00:48:59New episode airs today, episode three.
00:49:03I think the first episode, last time I checked, over 4 million views on YouTube.
00:49:08Second episode, over 3 million views.
00:49:11People are consuming, watching.
00:49:12And what's happening is the Barstool world is colliding with the golf world.
00:49:16And we're a little bit less couth than the golf world.
00:49:21So Luke Kwan, who's a spectacular golfer, like he won on tour, overslept his tee time.
00:49:29And, you know, I gave a four shot, four hole penalty.
00:49:32A lot of people complained about that.
00:49:34Ryan Whitney's the villain right now on the Internet because he ripped them apart like he's in a hockey locker room.
00:49:40The PGA Tour is defending Luke Kwan.
00:49:43Golfers are defending Luke Kwan.
00:49:46Luke Kwan did a 20 minute apology video.
00:49:49You don't apologize 20 minutes.
00:49:51I don't know what you create a 20 minute apology video.
00:49:54You have to nuclear bomb somebody for that.
00:49:57So a 20 minute video, everyone's taking sides.
00:50:00Listen, Luke Kwan deserves everything he gets.
00:50:03All right.
00:50:03He overslept.
00:50:04He's a grown man.
00:50:05It's, it's a 930 tee time.
00:50:08He let his teammates down.
00:50:09It's a team sport.
00:50:11Now, am I like, did I think about it beyond day one?
00:50:16No.
00:50:17Were we civil after?
00:50:18Yes.
00:50:19But you oversleep a tee time.
00:50:22I don't want to hear people crying or being, oh, poor Luke Kwan, poor Luke.
00:50:27No, that's his fault.
00:50:28He missed the tee time.
00:50:30Now, did I in my content brain was like, this is great video.
00:50:34I'm so happy.
00:50:35This moron overslept.
00:50:36Of course, I was happy.
00:50:38Of course, it made the video controversial, but I didn't go out of my way.
00:50:43Sometimes God taps me on the shoulder.
00:50:45And in 20 years, he says, Dave, I'm going to give you a silver platter of content.
00:50:50And it's this idiot Luke Kwan oversleeping his tee time.
00:50:54Fine.
00:50:55But all the people crying, poor Luke Kwan show up and none of it happens.
00:50:59It's not the end of the world.
00:51:00It was the end of this tournament for him in day one, and all the criticism is justified.
00:51:06Dave, as somebody who's been in a boss position for a long time, where does oversleeping and
00:51:14punctuality, where does that rate on your scale of things that annoy you?
00:51:19Yeah, so I am a massive punctuality guy.
00:51:22Now, at this company, we do not, you don't punch in, you don't punch out.
00:51:27No one's keeping track when you get there.
00:51:29But let's per se, the show, Wake Up Barstool.
00:51:33If one of you guys was 30 seconds late to that, that would really annoy me and you would hear from me.
00:51:40Frankie Borelli, who's in this thing.
00:51:42And so through the good fortune of Barstool, we were able to upgrade from flying back of
00:51:48the bus to getting private flights.
00:51:51Frankie Borelli showed up 30 seconds late to a private airplane.
00:51:56I said, Frankie, you're not getting on the plane.
00:51:58You want to do this to a commercial flight.
00:52:00I made him leave and take a 10 connection flight back to the office.
00:52:05So there's certain things or functionality, super, super important.
00:52:10I've always been very punctual.
00:52:11I mean, Austin, who's my guy, would probably say Dave is never late for anything.
00:52:16Never.
00:52:17So I take it super serious.
00:52:19There's not too many things, though, in our world where we have set times.
00:52:24But for the ones we do, you better not be late.
00:52:27To me, it's an insult.
00:52:29Look, I'm trying to learn since we're still feeling each other out.
00:52:31You don't respect my time.
00:52:33That's how I take it.
00:52:34I'm here.
00:52:35There's a time.
00:52:36If you're late, that's a direct insult slap in the face to me.
00:52:39Also, 9.30 in the morning is not late at all.
00:52:43Yeah.
00:52:43Not early at all.
00:52:449.30 in the morning.
00:52:45When you're on the course.
00:52:469.30 in the morning is crazy.
00:52:49Anyway, I don't care about the punctuality of it or not.
00:52:51I'm a punctual guy myself.
00:52:53I've never violated anything that Dave says about punctuality or anything like that.
00:52:57But when he got there, he was a jerk to PFT.
00:52:59He was rude to PFT the whole time.
00:53:02He's like, you can't make this putt.
00:53:03You can't do this.
00:53:04And part of his 20-minute apology was like, yeah, I didn't mean any offense when I was
00:53:07talking to him like that.
00:53:08Yeah, you did.
00:53:09He also showed no accountability when I'm like, do you want to appeal?
00:53:13You should have been kicked out.
00:53:14He's like, you're right.
00:53:15Again, it's our world colliding with his world.
00:53:17I'm not even sure he knew this was going out online like the way he was acting.
00:53:21So our world is every now and then.
00:53:24I've been here six years.
00:53:24Every now and then you mess up and you've got to eat it.
00:53:27And you've got to eat it for a while.
00:53:28And I don't think these golf YouTubers are used to eating it like this.
00:53:31And Kwan's getting served it right now and he doesn't like the flavor of it.
00:53:35But sometimes you've got to eat it.
00:53:36I tell you, in that lunch break when Whitney was going at him, it was uncomfortably awkward.
00:53:42Like I could tell there were people, I loved it, but there were people who are not used to
00:53:46this type of head-on confrontation.
00:53:49I don't know if you guys saw the clip, hilarious, of the Chicklets guys talking about the incident
00:53:54dead serious.
00:53:56Like they were talking about it like they were talking about, you know, an election.
00:53:59It was a very serious conversation, but they were in full Halloween costumes.
00:54:04Laugh out loud.
00:54:05Funny.
00:54:06Whitney is Batman.
00:54:09Yandel is Frankenstein.
00:54:11And I think Biz was the Pope, but it's very funny.
00:54:15I think somebody was the dead body from Stand By Me.
00:54:18Maybe I'm getting my Halloween costumes confused.
00:54:22But all right, so go check out the Internet Invitational.
00:54:25I just want to say on Kwan to wrap things up.
00:54:28One, we invited him on today, and I think he overslept that, so he won't be here.
00:54:32And then two, just in that, during that lunch, people are talking about Kwan, and they're
00:54:37saying about this guy, this is the type of guy that's going to end up throwing things
00:54:42on purpose.
00:54:43He's going to hit bad shots on purpose and make everyone else miserable because they're
00:54:48mad at him for oversleeping.
00:54:49Potentially a bad guy.
00:54:50Yeah, I think you're all seeing, like, team sports running into individual sports, and
00:54:55that's why Whitney gets so true, because I get that.
00:54:57No, it's a barstool world.
00:54:58Well, no, what I'm saying is, from Whitney's perspective, though, also, like, that's, as
00:55:04a teammate, that is so unbelievably different.
00:55:06These golf guys don't get it.
00:55:08It's a very me world in which they live in a lot of times.
00:55:11And there's not a lot of face-to-face.
00:55:13We are a face-to-face conflict organization.
00:55:17A lot of the guys involved, women involved, not so much.
00:55:21And I'm going to tell you right now, I've said this since we filmed and wrapped the Internet
00:55:27Invitational.
00:55:29People aren't even going to remember.
00:55:30This is going to be a bleep.
00:55:32Luke Kwan will be a non-factor in what people remember from the Invitational by the time it's
00:55:38over.
00:55:39It just ramps up when I, it's one of the best things we've ever done, and things kept
00:55:45breaking, everything kept coming up, Dave Portnoy.
00:55:48Like, I couldn't believe what was being handed to me on the golf course.
00:55:54It's a new episode drama today.
00:55:55It's episodes of Mondays and Thursdays, guys.
00:55:57It's the Internet Invitational.
00:55:58It's awesome.
00:55:59NFL yesterday, a ton to get to.
00:56:02How about the craziest game of the day, Bears-Bingles, a game in which Chicago Bears look
00:56:06like they have it completely wrapped up.
00:56:07Oh, my goodness.
00:56:08Then Joe Flacco somehow finds a way to come back, and they take the lead.
00:56:13Oh, my God.
00:56:14The Bengals are going to win against all odds, and then it flips back with Caleb Williams
00:56:18and Colston Loveland.
00:56:19No timeouts.
00:56:2020 seconds.
00:56:21Touchdown.
00:56:22Bears win.
00:56:23And the Chicago Bears, Brandon, are now 5-3 against all odds.
00:56:28Yeah, that division kind of got turned upside down yesterday.
00:56:31Yeah.
00:56:31With the Packers losing, with the Lions losing, and the Vikings winning, and the Bears winning.
00:56:35Like, this, it was, I think it was two minutes and 50 seconds left.
00:56:38Flacco throws a pick six.
00:56:40They're down 14.
00:56:41Throws a pick six.
00:56:42It gets called back down by contact.
00:56:44They still come back.
00:56:45Still take a lead.
00:56:46They still do all the onside kicks.
00:56:47What the hell is 27 doing?
00:56:49What the hell is 27 doing?
00:56:51There's so much going on, man.
00:56:52We watched that film.
00:56:53These, this, this team, these teams, what are they doing?
00:56:56This is, I, this is when you just watch football and say, watch, watch the, what is 27 doing
00:57:01on this play?
00:57:02They'll show the other, they'll show the other angle.
00:57:04It's even worse.
00:57:06I don't know what the heck he's doing.
00:57:07The second angle right here on 27.
00:57:09What is that accomplish?
00:57:12Well, here's, here's what's crazy, Dave, coming into this game, the Bengals were leading the
00:57:17league with 81 missed tackles.
00:57:20Okay.
00:57:20For some context, commanders, second worst in the league at 56.
00:57:25So let's go a little bit further.
00:57:26Okay.
00:57:2781, eight games, 10 missed tackles a game.
00:57:30They had 15 missed tackles.
00:57:32That's not even, I don't even know if 27 gets credit for missed tackle.
00:57:36Like that wasn't even a tackle.
00:57:38It was a grown man.
00:57:40No attempt to wrap up.
00:57:41No nothing.
00:57:42I, this is one of those things.
00:57:43I, I, listen, I, I'm just, I'm just a guy, right?
00:57:46I'm just a guy who's watching football.
00:57:49These are professional athletes.
00:57:51How does that happen at the end?
00:57:53I do not know how paid professional athletes on both sides can let games get away.
00:57:59And you see it so much in the NFL where things are kind of conservative and wrapped up the
00:58:04three quarters and all hell breaks loose.
00:58:06I'll never understand at the end of that game.
00:58:08I'll never understand it.
00:58:10Uh, but 27, he, he, he'd be working, uh, he'd be working at the subway or something.
00:58:16If I was on the Bengals, get that guy off my team.
00:58:19Well, did you see Chase Brown?
00:58:21That's SEC soft.
00:58:22The big 10 man's, uh, actually going to make that tackle.
00:58:25What are you doing right here?
00:58:26It was a big 10 man who, it was a big 10 man who ran for a touchdown.
00:58:30You're not going to tackle a Michigan tight end with a love tap.
00:58:33I'll tell you that.
00:58:34Also, there's, there's, there's...
00:58:36Him and Meek have been hanging out too much, Brad.
00:58:38I think they've been kissing that guy.
00:58:38Oh, come on.
00:58:39I'm a big 10 guy.
00:58:40He's got a little, he's got a little brown, uh, rubbed off on his gnomes.
00:58:43I'm a big 10 guy.
00:58:44I'm a Loveland guy.
00:58:45Whatever.
00:58:45Uh, there's civil war happening inside the Bengals locker room as you were.
00:58:48Yeah.
00:58:48Did you see Chase Brown after the game?
00:58:50I'll catch you on Monday.
00:58:51Yeah.
00:58:51He's just like, just effing in the game.
00:58:54The, the offense is like begging for one stop with Jamar and Chase Brown.
00:58:58One stop.
00:58:58Just end the game.
00:58:59The defense is declining to speak to media where they're saying, laughing and saying,
00:59:04catch you on Monday.
00:59:05So how about this?
00:59:06Uh, the Bengals have now lost six games.
00:59:09You go back to last season, which they've scored 30 and they just came the first team
00:59:12since the sixties to lose back-to-back games where they scored at least 38.
00:59:17You know, and I love Joe Burrow.
00:59:18I'm a Joe Burrow guy, but this offense looks so explosive.
00:59:22You can put old man time or anybody in there and you're going to score 40.
00:59:26So this is kind of a trade Joe Burrow and get some defensive guys.
00:59:30This is kind of my Julian saying theory a little bit.
00:59:32I mean, you look at the T Higgins and Jamar Chase combination.
00:59:35That's going to make any quarterback better.
00:59:37Look how much better Joe Flacco looks here.
00:59:39They're the Brown.
00:59:40So I'm not saying saying it's not great, but like, I mean, you're right.
00:59:43Listen, listen, I don't mean to make Ohio State has great receivers, but you're a
00:59:46little off on saying saying throws darts.
00:59:48No, he's great.
00:59:49I'm sorry.
00:59:50We don't need to make this about saying we don't even, that's a separate
00:59:52conversation, more of a podcast.
00:59:54They didn't look the same last year.
00:59:56I thought I knew they were beatable last year.
00:59:59I know we don't want to go into this Ohio State.
01:00:01I knew I'm very, I'm a little on my nervousness.
01:00:05It's like up from 0% to 4% that we could lose in November.
01:00:10So you're still 96% sure Michigan beats Ohio State.
01:00:13Yeah.
01:00:1396.
01:00:14Yeah.
01:00:14On the Dave scale.
01:00:16Wow.
01:00:16That's critically low.
01:00:18It is critically low on my scale.
01:00:21What about, by the way, NFL speaking of Michigan, JJ McCarthy.
01:00:25Yeah.
01:00:26He looked good.
01:00:27He looked solid.
01:00:27People, people writing them off.
01:00:29You got that lunatic who stalks them here.
01:00:31Uh, Ohio's Tate who's who are honestly, I think is a mean delusional guy.
01:00:37Like he, he follows JJ McCarthy, like from his hotel room to be like, Oh, he, he, he jaywalked
01:00:45like whatever he does.
01:00:46He's on it.
01:00:47And that's a great performance from JJ goes in, gets a huge win on the road.
01:00:53Vikings right back in that division.
01:00:54He wore the, uh, the shirt, the, the Sharon Moore blue collar shirt Vikings right back in
01:01:01the mix.
01:01:01So, you know, I generally side with Ohio state in the Michigan, Ohio state war, uh, here
01:01:05at Barstool, but you're right about Ohio state.
01:01:08He should be on a list.
01:01:08Dave.
01:01:09I'm, I'm concerned about him a lot.
01:01:11He's, he's insane.
01:01:13He is an insane football fan.
01:01:15Yeah.
01:01:15Well, he's not, he's a stalker.
01:01:17Like he, he actually, if you ever attended played associate everything with Michigan,
01:01:25he basically harasses you.
01:01:27And in fact, I think the reason I am banned from Ohio state by Ryan day is a basic confusion
01:01:35of Ryan day.
01:01:36Cause I've heard things that he said like, Oh, Dave said stuff about my family that no, he
01:01:41didn't.
01:01:41I haven't said any of that.
01:01:42You know, who may have said stuff about your family or God knows what?
01:01:45When you lost to Michigan, Ohio state was probably trying to like haul in a bomb by
01:01:51then because he's that crazy.
01:01:53I haven't said anything.
01:01:54He's that nuts.
01:01:55Oh, this is beautiful.
01:01:57That's an absurd.
01:01:58Football is about getting back to your roots, getting back to working, channeling your inner
01:02:04Wolverine where the blue collar shirt looks like he's at Jiffy Lube.
01:02:08Go out and get a win.
01:02:10Yeah.
01:02:10Look, and it was private school kid from suburban Chicago.
01:02:13Never been a blue collar guy a day in his life.
01:02:15It was, it was needed because obviously the talk all year has been like, is he actually
01:02:22that hurt?
01:02:23Are they just soft benching him?
01:02:24Is he even the future?
01:02:25And for at least one weekend, go to Detroit, get it done.
01:02:28KOC looks like he made the right bet.
01:02:29Go.
01:02:29I don't understand that soft bench for who?
01:02:32Carson Wentz.
01:02:32The kid was hurt.
01:02:34Okay.
01:02:34Look, I'm, I'm, I'm, they were.
01:02:36That's Ohio state.
01:02:41Now you mentioned it.
01:02:42Now it was, look, it was a real any given Sunday type of Sunday.
01:02:45I mean, there was that in the Panthers beating the Packers, which we touched on earlier.
01:02:49Uh, by the way, here's, here's, here's something I think your gambling brain will like Dave.
01:02:53Uh, the Panthers, the second NFL team since 1970 to have a winning record through nine
01:02:59games, despite being the underdog in every single game.
01:03:03So the Panthers consistently finding a way to surprise.
01:03:06So crazy team.
01:03:07Like again, they're the, they're the most surprising.
01:03:10I, when I saw that they were five and four, I had to do a triple take.
01:03:13I'm like, ah, the Panthers are five and four.
01:03:15Really?
01:03:16Um, and I think overshadowed the Seahawks who absolutely who destroyed Washington.
01:03:21It's, it got overshadowed because of the injury to Jaden Daniels.
01:03:24That's all anyone's talking about, but Sam Darnold, another year, he's getting mentioned
01:03:29a little bit in MVP conversations through four touchdowns before he ever threw an incompletion.
01:03:34Oh my God.
01:03:35He was, he was 16 of 16, two 85, four tuts at halftime of that game.
01:03:40And it just shows you in this league.
01:03:42And I get heat every time I say this, I've said on this show, I say it on our networks.
01:03:48I said it in big noon when civilians, I'm a civilian, I'm wearing civilian clothes.
01:03:52I'm wearing my sunflower shirt.
01:03:54I'm out in the keys say, I know as much about football as the people running football, but
01:03:59how many teams has Sam Darnold been on where you have them, you let them go.
01:04:04We go somewhere else has an unbelievable potential MVP season.
01:04:07Last season Vikings, let them go.
01:04:09They have McCarthy.
01:04:10They got to make a decision.
01:04:11He didn't have a good playoff game.
01:04:12Now he goes to Seattle.
01:04:13He's great again.
01:04:15Like, so how many of these front office people are just morons?
01:04:18And then you look at this three and six for Washington.
01:04:22That's a, that's a franchise I feel bad for.
01:04:24They had division.
01:04:25They had, they had visions on going to the Superbowl this year.
01:04:28They look like they've regressed a thousand percent.
01:04:31Now your quarterbacks, a jigsaw puzzle.
01:04:34Yeah.
01:04:34Look, and there's still other odd results that we got to visually break down as well.
01:04:38I mean, the Steelers defense, which has been God awful this year, suddenly shutting down
01:04:41the best offense in the entire NFL.
01:04:44So we've got plenty more NFL talk coming up.
01:04:46Let's end this with coaches.
01:04:49We were talking internet invitational.
01:04:51Coach went viral for the speech after Luke Kwan overslept, getting a bunch of golfers and
01:04:57trying to get them back out.
01:04:57The speech did nothing.
01:04:59They still got smoked in the next round, but it was a great viral moment.
01:05:03Let's see the speech.
01:05:04Here's two things we can do.
01:05:05We can be pissed off, right?
01:05:07We can blame Kwan.
01:05:08We can blame ourselves.
01:05:09We can do whatever we want.
01:05:11Or we can roll up our fist and pound a rock.
01:05:13Are we clear on that?
01:05:14Yeah.
01:05:14We've got the best players in the field right here.
01:05:16Let's go.
01:05:17All right.
01:05:17Now you helped us dig this hole.
01:05:18You're going to dig us out of the hole.
01:05:20Hell yeah.
01:05:20Go.
01:05:21Every guy here, though.
01:05:22Quit bitching about our problems.
01:05:24Start rolling the rock.
01:05:25Put the ball in the hole.
01:05:26Are we clear on that?
01:05:27Let's go.
01:05:27Let's go.
01:05:27Let's go.
01:05:28Let's go.
01:05:28Let's control what we can control.
01:05:30Yes, sir.
01:05:31Some of you guys, I came a long way to watch you guys play.
01:05:37And he slept in, and hell, you guys slept in also.
01:05:40That's a fucking game.
01:05:42Let's go.
01:05:43Let's go.
01:05:43Let's go.
01:05:44Let's go.
01:05:44Let's go.
01:05:46Hell yeah, Coach.
01:05:48That's how it's done.
01:05:48Hey, me and Kwan came out of the tunnel.
01:05:50We won our match, Dave.
01:05:51Me and Kwan did our part.
01:05:53Yeah.
01:05:53Some of the other guys in that picture, they let us down.
01:05:56Well, this seems like the opposite of that speech when you're saying it's a team game.
01:06:01That went from a team game, we're all in this together, to, well, me and Kwan won our
01:06:05match.
01:06:06What about the other guys?
01:06:09Thanks for coming on, as always.
01:06:10All right, guys.
01:06:11Have a good one.
01:06:12See ya.
01:06:12All right.
01:06:13There he is, Coach John Gruden, Shredline.
01:06:15All right.
01:06:15Let's get back to some of these NFL games that we haven't discussed yet.
01:06:18And let's start with the one that we teased at the end of last segment, which is Steelers-Colts.
01:06:22I mean, the Steelers' defense has been one of the biggest disappointments in the entirety
01:06:27of the NFL this year.
01:06:28Highest paid defense, all that.
01:06:30They were even terrible the last two games.
01:06:32They lose both.
01:06:33And then, like, we can talk about Dan Jones.
01:06:36A lot of people are going to talk about that.
01:06:37But to me, it's what they did to Jonathan Taylor.
01:06:40Yeah.
01:06:40I mean, the hottest running back in the league.
01:06:43And what, he ended up with about 45 yards?
01:06:45It was unreal.
01:06:46It was old school Pittsburgh.
01:06:47Yeah, it was.
01:06:48And listen, you go to Pittsburgh this time of the year.
01:06:50Pittsburgh is always capable of doing this.
01:06:52I do have a problem with Dave saying, wondering, he didn't say it, he wondered if the Colts,
01:06:57if this is emblematic of them just not being as good as we thought, if this is something
01:07:00where they just tripped up or something like that.
01:07:02I think they just tripped up.
01:07:03I think in this league, and nobody knows it better than me, in this league, it is hard
01:07:06to come 17 weeks in a row and be at least 17 weeks in a row.
01:07:10And I think the Colts were just due one of these stinkers.
01:07:13And that was their first real big stinker of the year.
01:07:15That's fair.
01:07:16Listen, that is a totally fair take.
01:07:19And I'm a good barometer of when these things happen, because I was stunned by this result.
01:07:25They had played so well.
01:07:27But it does happen all the time in this league.
01:07:30And nobody knows it better than me, because I've seen many Patriot teams.
01:07:34I remember losing to Kansas City in the regular season early.
01:07:38I think it was Monday Night Football.
01:07:40And people were asking Belichick if he was going to bench Brady.
01:07:42You know, and they win the Super Bowl that year.
01:07:44So we are still in it.
01:07:46I get it.
01:07:47We're on FS1.
01:07:48We're in the media business.
01:07:49And you've got to talk every week like it's life or death in this league.
01:07:54But, you know, we're early November, right?
01:07:57We haven't seen the turkeys come out yet.
01:08:00And what's going on in week seven, week eight, week nine?
01:08:04Yeah, you've got to position yourself.
01:08:06But these teams are a shadow or are not what they're going to be when the money is on the line,
01:08:13the chips on the table, and people overreact.
01:08:15And that's what we do.
01:08:17So I think I agree with Walker.
01:08:18This is just one really bad game from the Colts.
01:08:21But I didn't think the Steelers were any good.
01:08:23That's what surprised me.
01:08:24Do we think Daniel Jones could just be a dome merchant, though?
01:08:26Can he play outdoors?
01:08:27This is a game outdoors in Pittsburgh.
01:08:29A lot of his big wins this year are.
01:08:31San Diego, he looked pretty good.
01:08:33Really?
01:08:34That's warm weather, though.
01:08:36It's kind of like a dome.
01:08:36Can you kind of win the Colts?
01:08:37We don't know.
01:08:38Pretty much a dome.
01:08:39Well, look.
01:08:40It has a little opening.
01:08:41I think to support this point, you can look for, like, statistical outliers.
01:08:46Six turnovers.
01:08:47It's the exception, not the rule.
01:08:48It's not going to happen.
01:08:49They laid an egg.
01:08:50They laid an egg.
01:08:51It's not a big deal.
01:08:51I agree with Walker.
01:08:52I think the Colts are fine.
01:08:52Jonathan Taylor's fine.
01:08:54Do not sell.
01:08:55Coming up next, more NFL talk.
01:08:57We've still got our Davey Day Trader stock game coming up as well.
01:09:01What are you buying, selling, holding this week?
01:09:03Don't go anywhere.
01:09:04We'll hear more Wake Up Barstool right here on FS1.
01:09:06Go get a coffee.
01:09:12Welcome back.
01:09:13Wake Up Barstool.
01:09:14Okay, guys.
01:09:15It is time once again, Stock Up, Stock Down, sponsored by Davey Day Trader Global.
01:09:20As we take you into the world of sports, what should you be buying, what should you be selling, what should you be holding on to?
01:09:27Dave, take it away.
01:09:28As our lead financial advisor, what do you got this week?
01:09:31Yeah, I got a bunch here, so I'll just rip through them.
01:09:34Stock Up, J.J. McCarthy comes back from injury.
01:09:37We've talked about it.
01:09:38Leads the Vikings in probable win on the road.
01:09:40Gets back to his roots.
01:09:42Blue collar, car mechanic, wearing the Sharon shirt.
01:09:46Will Smith baseball.
01:09:47Amazing stat.
01:09:49Six straight World Series rings for this guy.
01:09:53He's the one.
01:09:53He hit the home run, right?
01:09:54I did this same thing, Dave.
01:09:57I did this same thing early in pre-show.
01:09:58Two different guys.
01:10:00Two Will Smiths, last six World Series.
01:10:02So who sent this to me and misled me?
01:10:04That guy's stock is in the toilet.
01:10:06Someone on this show sent me that.
01:10:09Well, they still got it.
01:10:10Will Smith, the Dodger, has three.
01:10:11The other Will Smith, the relief pitcher, one with the Braves, the Astros.
01:10:14I don't care.
01:10:15Who cares if they have the same name?
01:10:18Whoever's...
01:10:18I'm going to look that up.
01:10:20Who sent this?
01:10:20My stock is down on the show.
01:10:22Hold on now.
01:10:22Hold on now.
01:10:23Hold on now.
01:10:25To be fair...
01:10:26To you?
01:10:26To be fair.
01:10:27Guys, let's relax, Dave.
01:10:29Like I said, we're still learning.
01:10:30I'm learning what you'd like.
01:10:31To be fair, I texted a tweet of it to the group and said,
01:10:38is this the craziest stat I've ever seen?
01:10:42And I was just meaning that a Will Smith could win six games in a row.
01:10:46No, I never said Will Smith won six in a row himself.
01:10:49I never said...
01:10:49There were pictures of guys Will Smith.
01:10:51All right.
01:10:51So, all right.
01:10:52Those are different white guys.
01:10:53I saw the same thing.
01:10:54I thought they were the same guy.
01:10:55Sam Darnold's stock is up.
01:10:57The guys have another MVP season.
01:10:59But let's go right into stock down.
01:11:01T-Bob for sending that in the chat is absolutely insane.
01:11:06Down.
01:11:06What a crazy stat.
01:11:08Who wouldn't have thought it was the same guy?
01:11:10I thought it was the same guy.
01:11:13I looked at the people...
01:11:14Right.
01:11:14So, your stock is down.
01:11:15Down.
01:11:16Your stock is down.
01:11:17Washington, Commander is way down.
01:11:19Their fans, way down.
01:11:21Packers, down.
01:11:23Mario Cristobal, way down.
01:11:25I love the guy.
01:11:26I don't know how you can say his stock is not down.
01:11:29Deion, stock down.
01:11:32Everybody.
01:11:33All people who are on the sidelines of this ESPN YouTube fight.
01:11:37That's basically all of America.
01:11:39Red-blooded Americans.
01:11:40Everybody who wasn't at the No Kings rally.
01:11:43All those people.
01:11:44Our stock is down because we can't...
01:11:47We've got to buy a new thing.
01:11:48I do feel, I'll do a, if we want later, rant on that subject.
01:11:52I feel strongly about.
01:11:53But the American public, stock down.
01:11:55And then Will Compton.
01:11:58Nobody's stock is down more than his.
01:12:00Will Stock is a penny stock in Nebraska football.
01:12:05He's about to be delisted from the stock exchange.
01:12:08Oh.
01:12:09All right.
01:12:09So, I'll go here.
01:12:10Okay.
01:12:11Yeah, go.
01:12:11I got one.
01:12:12This is buy low because this stock is about to skyrocket.
01:12:16It's the Iowa Hawkeyes.
01:12:18Iowa is 6-2 and they are unranked.
01:12:21They're behind teams like Tennessee.
01:12:22Tennessee is ranked with three losses.
01:12:24I have no idea why Tennessee is ranked.
01:12:26Iowa continues to not be ranked.
01:12:28They should be ranked.
01:12:29You Big Ten guys do kind of have a beef here with this team not being ranked.
01:12:32But this weekend, Oregon comes to Iowa City.
01:12:36Oregon is kind of a paper tiger right now.
01:12:39They're in the top ten.
01:12:39They have zero ranked wins.
01:12:41Their one big win is not aging well at all.
01:12:43It's a double overtime win against Penn State.
01:12:45I think Iowa, who gave Indiana hell in Iowa City a couple of weeks ago, I think Iowa is
01:12:50positioned to win this game, take Oregon out of the top ten, put themselves at 7-2, and
01:12:55now all of a sudden they're in playoff talk coming down the stretch of the season.
01:12:58Buy Iowa stock right now.
01:12:59And I hate saying that because I don't have a great history with Iowa, but buy it right
01:13:03now.
01:13:03That's big.
01:13:04August 30th, 2025, 5.59 p.m.
01:13:09Also, mark this down.
01:13:11Iowa is my sleeper team in the country this year.
01:13:14Who said that?
01:13:15I did.
01:13:16Okay, well, you just totally had your own chance to do your own stock there, and you
01:13:20just piggybacked off mine.
01:13:21Well, they're not low to me.
01:13:22They've never been low.
01:13:24I like them outright this week.
01:13:27I do, too.
01:13:27I think they're going to beat Oregon.
01:13:28But Brandon, you said it.
01:13:29Oregon, again.
01:13:30I know.
01:13:30I really do.
01:13:31Oregon, no ranked wins, and Indiana barely got out of Iowa City alive.
01:13:35Iowa is always a tough place to play.
01:13:37They always grind you there.
01:13:39Grinowski, finding his way a bit.
01:13:41Oregon's six and a half.
01:13:42Grinowski's going to go do his thing.
01:13:44Get those West Coast boys into Iowa City.
01:13:46It's going to get rough out there.
01:13:47Shout out, Ferentz.
01:13:48All right.
01:13:49Well, my stock is down, but I'll try to go anyway.
01:13:53Look, if you were buying Mario Christofrod stock in the first place, I've been telling
01:13:57you for years, it's an awful investment.
01:13:59The guy's been a head coach for 15 years at this point and is 90 and 73.
01:14:05Okay?
01:14:05You take out last year, he's a 500 head coach with over a decade of sample size.
01:14:09Mario Christofrod will always let you down, even when you think he's rounded the corner.
01:14:15Is that your...
01:14:15Is that your...
01:14:17Yes, that's my term.
01:14:18I've been saying it for years.
01:14:18Term?
01:14:19Yeah.
01:14:19I may have to knock you down a little bit for a cliche of a term.
01:14:23Too cliche, Dave.
01:14:24I've been saying it for years.
01:14:25Your stock is plucking.
01:14:26As soon as he lost, Stu got texted me saying Christofrod.
01:14:29I'm getting tweets saying Christofrod.
01:14:31Christofrod.
01:14:31That is...
01:14:32Who would say something like that?
01:14:36Christofrod.
01:14:37Oh.
01:14:38White Sox Dave would say it.
01:14:39Nate would say it.
01:14:41Are you just naming all the people that's going to treat you?
01:14:42No.
01:14:43There's like someone out at Christofrod.
01:14:46There's someone in particular who would have such a lame nickname.
01:14:50Oh.
01:14:52Okay.
01:14:53I just realized what he's doing.
01:14:55What?
01:14:56Bosco, right?
01:14:58No.
01:14:59No.
01:14:59Bosco wouldn't do Christofrod?
01:15:00No, that's actually the least Bosco thing.
01:15:02Oh, okay.
01:15:03All right.
01:15:03All right.
01:15:04All right.
01:15:04It's not...
01:15:05All right.
01:15:07This is pointless.
01:15:08This is pointless.
01:15:09You know what, Dave?
01:15:09Your stock's down, buddy.
01:15:10Your stock...
01:15:11No, no, no.
01:15:11Dave, your stock is down for not knowing who would say Christofrod.
01:15:15How about that?
01:15:16I already sold T-Bob's stock, and if you bought it then, it tanked even more.
01:15:20Wow.
01:15:20So that's why sometimes you sell and get out, because not everything goes up.
01:15:25I would say hold all Colt stock.
01:15:28We kind of just discussed that.
01:15:29I think the Indianapolis Colts are completely fine.
01:15:31Don't move there.
01:15:32I tried to tell you to buy Mississippi State last week.
01:15:35The pains of today will be the foundations upon which the joys of tomorrow are built.
01:15:39I hope you did.
01:15:40Price went up this weekend, and price is going to go up again this weekend when the Barstool
01:15:44College football show goes to Starkville, and Mississippi State comes out with a massive
01:15:48win over the UGA Bulldogs.
01:15:50World Series stock...
01:15:51That's right, baby.
01:15:52World Series stock, way up.
01:15:54Roja stock, way up.
01:15:55Stock down, because his sweatshirt just raised, and all of America got a fat, like, yeah,
01:16:02stock down walker.
01:16:03And then finally, college football playoff, Liam.
01:16:0612-team playoff stock, way up, because every single Tuesday we're all going to watch a completely
01:16:11contrived and arguably pointless show that we'll spend the rest of the week making content
01:16:15out of.
01:16:15Well, not all of us are going to watch it.
01:16:17But we don't all get that channel.
01:16:19Oh, true.
01:16:20True.
01:16:20All right, boys, what you got?
01:16:21Stock up, stock down.
01:16:22My stock up is spending money, because the Los Angeles Dodgers showed that if you go out
01:16:26there and just buy all the best baseball players in the world, you too can win a World Series
01:16:30just like them.
01:16:31And also, J.J. McCarthy, there are people on this show trying to say that he faked an
01:16:35injury.
01:16:36No, he didn't.
01:16:37He was injured.
01:16:38He came back healthy and won as an eight-and-a-half-point dog on the road.
01:16:40So shout out, J.J. McCarthy.
01:16:42I think the Vikings are alive in that division.
01:16:44My stock down, Joe Burrow, because Joe Flacco has been inserted into that offense, and
01:16:49it just hasn't missed a beat.
01:16:50If the Bengals were three and six, and normally you'd be like, oh, poor Joe Burrow.
01:16:53He's putting up stats.
01:16:54Defense sucks.
01:16:54Joe Flacco's doing the same thing.
01:16:56And also, the Chargers.
01:16:57Joe Alt has been injured yesterday.
01:16:59That offense isn't going to perform with them, so I'm going to buy stock down on the Chargers.
01:17:03I think they missed the playoffs.
01:17:04Going to buy stock down.
01:17:06Yeah, so what do you got, man?
01:17:07Seahawks.
01:17:08I've been a Seahawks guy for years.
01:17:09I just love watching them.
01:17:10They have so many Liam guys.
01:17:11Another stock up is Michael Trigg.
01:17:146'4", 240 at Baylor.
01:17:16I have a picture on my screen.
01:17:17I don't know if they want to show it.
01:17:18This guy is a monster.
01:17:19He defies football.
01:17:21He's going to be a stud.
01:17:22Finally putting it all together.
01:17:23One of the best watchers in the sport.
01:17:25Stock down, Tucker Craft fans.
01:17:26I'm devastated.
01:17:27I'm depressed.
01:17:28Stock down.
01:17:29Coaches using AI.
01:17:30An NWSL coach is leaning on AI as a crutch to solve her team's problems.
01:17:36The Flames coach is using AI to figure out how to attack teams.
01:17:40It's crazy.
01:17:40You're a professional coach in a professional league.
01:17:43Have some dignity and self-respect.
01:17:45It's crazy.
01:17:45You're leaning on AI.
01:17:47Pathetic.
01:17:48NWSL.
01:17:48All right.
01:17:49All right.
01:17:49We got to go to break.
01:17:50The National Women's Soccer League.
01:17:51We got to go to break.
01:17:51When we get back, we got more Wake Up Barso.
01:17:54We got to preview tonight's Monday night game as well as kind of fill in the corners on
01:17:58the football weekend that was.
01:17:59Don't go anywhere.
01:18:00It's right here on FS1.
01:18:02Just.
01:18:05Dave, does this comically large coffee mug bring my stock back up?
01:18:09No.
01:18:09No.
01:18:11Okay.
01:18:12Okay.
01:18:12I didn't even get it.
01:18:14Your stock is every time you talk right now in the last 10 minutes, we're going lower.
01:18:20You're going to get delisted just like Compton.
01:18:22You're making it worse.
01:18:23Okay.
01:18:24Okay.
01:18:24Well, okay.
01:18:25How about this then?
01:18:27You know who's, is my stock worse than YouTube and Disney's and everybody involved in that
01:18:33right now?
01:18:34So this is, this has been obviously something people have been talking about because YouTube,
01:18:39Disney are in a contract dispute.
01:18:42Disney, YouTube, Disney, ESPN want more money from YouTube.
01:18:47YouTube doesn't want to pay.
01:18:48And they took away all the college games.
01:18:50You got to buy ESPN now it's chaos for a sports fan and it sucks for us.
01:18:55It sucks for people who want to watch football as a business guy.
01:18:59I totally get it.
01:19:01So I, I, I understand ESPN's point of view and I understand YouTube's point of view.
01:19:07ESPN saying, Hey, we pay all this money for all these rights for these conference games
01:19:12and live television.
01:19:13We don't think you're giving us enough.
01:19:15We think the reason sign up for YouTube TV is to watch football and watch these games.
01:19:21So we need more money and YouTube saying, no, no, no, we can't give you more money.
01:19:25So we're, they have this impasse and unfortunately the way for the fans is how America works.
01:19:32We're going to find out because I am going, I was away and where I was staying this weekend
01:19:39had cable TV.
01:19:41So I have the channels, but of course I got to buy ESPN if I want to watch football and
01:19:46we're going to find out does YouTube lose subscriptions or is ESPN, uh, not get the
01:19:51signups they think.
01:19:52And it'll be resolved over time most likely, but Hey, this is, this is America.
01:19:58This is capitalism.
01:19:59The market will dictate what the market wants and it stinks for us.
01:20:03I'm under no delusion that Disney gives a crap about us or YouTube TV gives a crap about
01:20:10us.
01:20:10They're pointing the finger, putting us in the middle.
01:20:13They only care about their bottom lines.
01:20:15And unfortunately the market us will dictate who wins in this argument.
01:20:20There's no point in complaining.
01:20:21The pocketbook will dictate it as a business guy.
01:20:24I totally understand the fight.
01:20:25And my guess is ESPN wins.
01:20:28Yeah.
01:20:28It's, it's kind of the best content against the best, uh, interface.
01:20:32And I'm with you.
01:20:33I think content probably carries the day there.
01:20:36All right.
01:20:36Uh, nerds behind the desk.
01:20:37What did we miss today?
01:20:38Besides you betraying me?
01:20:39Uh, MLB dropped the gold glove winners out of nowhere last night.
01:20:43I don't understand why baseball does this.
01:20:45You would think maybe just make it Wednesday or not, not during the middle of Sunday night
01:20:49football.
01:20:49It doesn't make any sense to do that.
01:20:50And the other thing I want to touch on, Brandon alluded to it.
01:20:53Since Mississippi State's last SEC win before this Saturday was October 21st, 2023,
01:20:59Shohei Otani was still on the angels.
01:21:01Victor Wambanyama did not make his debut.
01:21:03Nick Saban was still at Alabama.
01:21:04Yeah, it was a long time ago.
01:21:04Joe Flacco was still on his couch.
01:21:06Liam Bluntman was not even hired since Mississippi State last won SEC.
01:21:08Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:21:09A long time ago.
01:21:09Listen, their stock is up.
01:21:11They're playing some pretty good football.
01:21:13So all, all that stuff is now gone now.
01:21:15We won an SEC game.
01:21:16The, the, the TV show, the most depressing stat I've ever seen at the end of that game
01:21:20the other night.
01:21:20Oh, this is very funny, yeah.
01:21:21Mississippi State's playing Arkansas and they showed the stat with two minutes left.
01:21:25Mississippi State's last conference win versus Arkansas.
01:21:28Arkansas's last conference win versus Mississippi State last year.
01:21:31It was the most depressing thing I've ever seen in my life.
01:21:32Hey, you gotta start somewhere.
01:21:34Yeah, it was so bad.
01:21:35One brick being laid, second brick coming this weekend.
01:21:38Liam, anything from you?
01:21:39Well, our clocks are bad.
01:21:41People call us out for that.
01:21:42I don't know how to fix a clock, so we'll get that fixed probably by someone else.
01:21:46Matthew Schaefer, special D-man for the New York Islanders, number one overall pick.
01:21:51Hockey's so up right now.
01:21:5218-year-old D-man, five goals, 10 points in 12 games.
01:21:57Tied first among rookies in points, first among defensemen in goals.
01:22:00He's 18 years old doing this in national hockey.
01:22:03We're talking hockey in early November.
01:22:05We're talking hockey.
01:22:06I can also talk e-sports if we want, Dave.
01:22:08I won't get into it, though.
01:22:09You gotta have Faker.
01:22:10Shout out Faker.
01:22:11Mayor from Plains, the world's flying over.
01:22:12You don't know how to fix a clock.
01:22:14You take it off the wall, and you wind it a little bit.
01:22:16Bro, there's no way.
01:22:17They're entirely too young.
01:22:18This is my clock.
01:22:19No, I know how to do it.
01:22:20This is my clock.
01:22:21Well, no, no, no.
01:22:21They do it then.
01:22:22They do it during the commercial if you know how to do it.
01:22:23Prove it then.
01:22:24Do it right now, Meek.
01:22:25Packers also 0-2 as a lucky point.
01:22:27I don't know how to do it.
01:22:28Favorite or greater of the season.
01:22:30Taylor and Nicole, how much time we got to you, Bob?
01:22:32Like 10 seconds.
01:22:33We gotta take a break.
01:22:34We get to it on the other side.
01:22:36All right.
01:22:36I'm going to have a little Taylor and Nicole versus Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey rant on.
01:22:42On tap here.
01:22:43There you go.
01:22:44Closing it out with that next here on MS1.
01:22:53Welcome back to Wake Up Barstool.
01:22:55If you don't see me again on this show, it's been great, guys.
01:22:58But right now, it's time for Dave to break down a Kayla and Nicole Halloween video where it appears that she went and attacked Taylor Day.
01:23:06Yeah, so this is all.
01:23:07This is not.
01:23:09This is when we did the show.
01:23:10They said I could talk about anything I wanted.
01:23:11This is right up my alley.
01:23:13So Kayla and Nicole is the ex of Travis Kelsey.
01:23:16She went uber viral, like next level viral.
01:23:19On TikTok, everything I swiped.
01:23:21She's doing a Tony Braxton song.
01:23:24She's remaking the video.
01:23:25Now, Kayla and Nicole is a gorgeous woman, so everyone's talking about that.
01:23:29But the lyrics of the Tony Braxton song are essentially, while your man is sleeping with you, he's thinking of me.
01:23:39The man wasn't man enough for me.
01:23:42It's clear shots at Taylor Swift and Travis.
01:23:46And she's talked about them a lot and taking shots.
01:23:49So the entire internet, what I saw, it's like, oh, Taylor's never going to come back from this.
01:23:54And game over.
01:23:55And Kayla and Nicole won Halloween.
01:23:57And here's my take on this.
01:23:58Listen, if you're talking four years later about your ex-boyfriend, you already lost.
01:24:04Now, you can argue this is the only way people will talk about Kayla and Nicole, which is true.
01:24:10The only time she's in the headlines is when she's trying to interject herself in Travis Kelsey Taylor drama.
01:24:17Or she's whining and crying that the Swifties are being mean to her.
01:24:22Boo-hoo-hoo.
01:24:23Well, that's fine.
01:24:24You can make these videos.
01:24:25And she looks great in the video.
01:24:27Don't cry to me when the Swifties or somebody like me is on Wake Up Barstool, a traditionally pro sports show.
01:24:33Somehow talking about you.
01:24:35That's fine.
01:24:36But just know what you're getting yourself into.
01:24:38And again, when you're talking about your ex-boyfriend who dumped you four years ago and who is married to the most famous woman in the world who's engaged now, I think you're the loser.
01:24:52I think you've lost that battle.
01:24:54It's four years ago.
01:24:56So all the people on TikTok and social media, oh, Kayla Nicole won this round.
01:25:00She won the battle.
01:25:01I don't want to be Taylor Swift.
01:25:02She got dumped four years ago and is still talking about it.
01:25:07If you want to stay in the news, that's fine.
01:25:10She looks great.
01:25:10But I don't think Taylor and Travis are losing a bunch of sleep over the ex-borderline stalker now category when you're still talking about it four years later.
01:25:21Yeah.
01:25:22This is, I mean, young people, as you still are struggling to figure out the clocks, and I see you Googling time zones to figure it out.
01:25:30But this is clout chasing, right?
01:25:32Like, she just hopped on Taylor's coattails here to get a little run.
01:25:35And speaking of clout chasing, using that phrase.
01:25:39That's my first Quig's meme.
01:25:41Mario Christopher seems like some Frank the Tank clout chasing right there.
01:25:45Hey, look, man.
01:25:46He looks like Frank's basement, too.
01:25:47Again, I think after this, I mean, I just love this.
01:25:50This is my first Quig's meme.
01:25:51I kind of feel like it means my stock's going back up.
01:25:54But, hey, guys, look.
01:25:55No, stock back down.
01:25:56No, no.
01:25:56Stock up.
01:25:57No, no, stock up.
01:25:59Anyway, if this is my last Monday on the show, guys, it's been real fun.
01:26:03If I get delisted, it is what it is.
01:26:05I love you all.
01:26:06Dave, Brandon, Meek, Liam, another excellent day with you all.
01:26:09Great job by all the production back in the production room as well.
01:26:14Yeah.
01:26:15Four years.
01:26:15You've been dumped for four years, and you're still making songs.
01:26:18Get over it.
01:26:19Yeah, it's a bad look.
01:26:20Find a new man.
01:26:21There's got to be a song.
01:26:22Somebody has a song.
01:26:23Find me a new man.
01:26:24Where's my husband at?
01:26:26That's another TikTok meme.
