00:00And I said, if you think Brian D'Abel gets credit for Jackson Dart being an NFL prospect, which I think we all do, he wanted to pick him third overall in the draft, and obviously they waited and got him later on, then no matter what happens for the rest of the season, Brian D'Abel's got to keep his job.
00:16Are we sure?
00:17And you made the point on Friday, well, what if he loses 11 straight, which is on the table.
00:21It's on the table now.
00:21That they could lose out.
00:23And they lost and got really embarrassed for the most part of the game against San Francisco.
00:27But it was really their defense that no-showed.
00:29Which is obviously problematic when they've clearly stopped listening to the coach, and they don't have any desire whatsoever, and seemingly don't want to be there despite saying after the game, we want to turn this thing around.
00:42You know, trust me, if someone came calling, you'd be out the door as quickly as possible.
00:46I still think Brian D'Abel should keep his job.
00:50You know, I think Joe Shane, the general manager, who I like personally, is a really good guy.
00:55Joe Shane's the guy that's got to go.
00:56Like, if you're going to make changes, you know, and I know John Mauer's not well.
01:00He's being treated for cancer.
01:02Obviously, we send our well wishes, you know, to the Mauer family.
01:04He's got other things more important than worrying about who his coach is.
01:07But to millions of Giants fans, that is paramount.
01:10What are we doing?
01:11And here's the reality for the Giants.
01:13They're going to have a top five pick.
01:14Like, they have one more win than the New York Jets.
01:17It's embarrassing.
01:17And they were non-competitive defensively yesterday against Matt Jones.
01:23And Matt Jones didn't even have a great game.
01:25And he gave up 34 points to San Francisco yesterday in losing 34 to 24.
01:31So, to me, I still think that Brian D'Abel comes back because, again, if we all agree that Jackson Dart is a legitimate star and quarterback,
01:42and we've seen nothing to disprove that his numbers yesterday would have been even better if Slayton holds on to a ball in the end zone with an easy touchdown pass, a great throw.
01:51If Trey Johnson, their talented tight end, holds on to a ball for a first down and keeps the drive alive, his numbers would have been better.
01:58They would have scored more points.
02:00And maybe the game would have been more competitive.
02:02My issue with Brian D'Abel is, and it's more of a question than anything, has he lost the locker room?
02:08Because that's the reason coaches don't come back.
02:11When the 53 men inside the locker room are tuning out the head coach, then the head coach has to get fired.
02:17And four years in, to Brian D'Abel as a Giants head coach, I get the sense they've tuned him out.
02:24And I get the sense that he has a passion project on display now, and the only thing he cares about is the development of Jackson Dart.
02:34And the reason that makes sense to me is because when he goes in for his postseason meeting, assuming he makes it to the end of the season, and the owner says, fight for your job, why should I bring you back for another year?
02:48The answer's going to have to be, look at how I developed Jackson Dart.
02:53He's ready to be a star.
02:55And then the owner's got to decide, all right, I do see development.
02:59Jackson Dart is a great player, going to be a great player.
03:02Why would I want to bring yet another voice into the room and start from scratch with a second-year quarterback?
03:09Now, the answer to that is also simple, because this guy doesn't deserve to come back and be in his ear another year.
03:16And what about the other 52 guys in the locker room who are no longer listening?
03:20My gut is that he comes back for another year.
03:24Now, you can tell me they lose 11 straight games.
03:27It's embarrassing.
03:28Giant fans are not going to show up.
03:30There were a lot of Niner fans in that building yesterday, which is hard to see.
03:34You know, the once-proud Giants stadium crowd has no interest in watching the Giants play right now, and I can't blame them.
03:40It has been a decade, except for one year, when they beat the Vikings in the playoffs in D'Abel's first year.
03:46It has been a decade of incompetent football, and there's no wiggle room around that.
03:51They're the losingest franchise in all of football over the last decade, and you don't survive when you're a big part of that.
03:59And that's what D'Abel is.
04:00I still think if Jackson Dart gets better every week, and despite winning and losing, he's not the reason why you lose.
04:09He's the reason why you stay in games.
04:12I'm inclined to bring D'Abel back for a single year.
04:15Now, to be fair, he'd be dead man walking, and God forbid you get off to a 1-3 start, then you're going to pull the plug, so you're going to get to the inevitability regardless.
04:25But I would replace the general manager.
04:27I've got to find someone better at picking talent than the guys the Giants have.
04:33I've got to find someone better at picking talent than the guys the Giants have.
