00:00so welcome to viewers who have joined us on BBC One Scotland as ever Scottish football is
00:15delivering so much drama today Julie Fleeting and Richard Foster are alongside me in the studio
00:21some really important games this afternoon and don't forget a League Cup semi-final also to
00:26look forward to later in the day but let's get to the three o'clock kick-offs and get to Tynecastle
00:32the League leaders Hearts up against Dundee Alan Preston is there for us good afternoon to Alan
00:37what's the latest it's Hearts 3 Dundee 0 Kenny and the Hearts made three changes for the first time in
00:41six games and after 30 minutes it was very even Dundee actually had a shot from Congreve that was
00:46deflected onto the bar but in 31 minutes Hearts took the lead Milne picked out Shanklin his left foot shot
00:51and at the bottom corner given McCracken no chance 38 minutes it was 2-0 one of the changes one of
00:56the three changes London Kabori he got onto a McInty knockdown from a corner and hooked the ball
01:01into the net for 2-0 and in 56 minutes just as I'm saying this there's another one Magnussen's got a fourth
01:08the third one came in 56 minutes Kabori again Shanklin his shot was brilliantly saved by McCracken
01:14onto the bar but it fell to Kabori who knocked it home simplest of tasks and they've just added another
01:19one there Magnussen one of the substitutes just came on in swinging corner Magnussen gets on the end of it
01:254-0 easy street for our Hearts have gone nine clear yeah we'll just have a wee look at this one
01:31again I know the referee we've got all the games coming into the shooting here Richard the referee's
01:34got his hand to his ear the Dundee player's really unhappy about something they're just getting a
01:38replay now the referee of his hand to ear happens every single goal maybe that he's offside the guy
01:44in the goal it just depends whether Finlay's over the line when he connects with the ball because he
01:49looks like he's actually in the goal he does yeah you're right but it's just whether he gets a touch
01:54from being an inside the goal or whether the ball is over the line if you're Magnussen you're raging
02:01if he's touched that in the ball's going in anyway just leave it and it's a goal
02:04but I think he's I don't think he's in the goal when he touches it I think he taps it in so I think
02:10this could be offside and then Alan will be completely wrong because Magnussen didn't score
02:14right well let's get back to Alan because Alan we'll just get the decision shortly but regardless
02:19that Hearts are going to win this game today we spoke at the top of the programme about the
02:24pressure that comes with expectation the opportunity today to go nine points clear they've handled it
02:29with total ease haven't they they have and I think the statement was Kilmarnock a few weeks ago going
02:33down there and winning that game comfortably and then again today if you're going to be in title
02:38challengers which I still think is a long shot for Hearts you're going to have to win your home games
02:42and it's been convincing absolutely convincing we're still waiting on a decision here the referee
02:47is going to see it'd be great for Magnussen a young boy if he can get his first goal but if it's not
02:51to be no it's given 4-0 definitely 4-0 but I think the ball's over the line when Finlay touches it
02:58which is good because his teammates try to take it from him so he'll be delighted he's over the line
03:05before he makes contact Julie what's really important as well here is the team spirit around Hearts
03:10and we spoke about the changes today and Kabori getting a start ahead of Claudio Braga and when
03:16Kabori scored his first today he went right over to the manager a big embrace with Derek McInnes I
03:21looked at the dugout behind him and leading the celebrations there Claudio Braga yeah I mean it just
03:26shows you the the spirit that they've got in their dressing room I don't know how positive it would
03:30be if Finlay had stolen that goal from Magnussen but certainly at the moment they look like they're a real
03:36united team and they work really hard for each other and you can see at the moment just watching the
03:42pictures where they're not in possession of the ball and every single player's working exceptionally hard
03:47to to win the ball back and I think when you as a player on the pitch when you look to your your
03:53suspension they've got your back and they're really your biggest cheerleader then it's a massive help for
03:59those players and there was changes made today and players on the bench who possibly would have hoped
04:04or certainly would have hoped to have been in that starting 11 and weren't and they're certainly
04:10making an impact when they have came on the pitch just before we bounce around the ground some more
04:14goals coming in so Spartans two East Kilbride one Keir Foster with that goal on 75 minutes there's been
04:19another goal for Abroath in the championship we'll get to Tyrone Smith when we go around the championship
04:23games but Abroath three Ross County nil Taylor-Steven on 77 minutes really concerning times for Ross
04:30County and their supporters just confirmation that fourth goal for Hearts Thomas Magnussen on 79 minutes
04:36Hearts four Dundee Nils-Strenraer back in front at home to four for Ryan Edgar with that goal on 81 minutes
04:43actually right up to date with all the goal news let's then continue our bounce around the grounds next stop
04:50Armand Vale Livingston at home to Hibbs and get the very latest from Kevin Thompson yeah both
04:54puffing and puffing to be honest Kenny I thought it was going to be half a chance Grant Hanley
04:58didn't quite anticipate the bounce it bounces over here runs through and going Rocky Bashiri actually
05:03thought he got a sore when he was flagging towards the bench which is always a worry but thankfully
05:07he's up it didn't come for anything Rocky Bashiri does brilliant to get back round and I think he was
05:12almost only just 10 yards out brilliant defensive cover for the big man but apart from that Kenny
05:17I don't see an hour goal coming to be honest unless it's a bit of magic because both teams are
05:21kind of cancelling each other out oh no oh and almost gave commentators he's almost in at the back
05:25post um both teams have wrong changes Kenny I think they're both going for it it looks like
05:31Davey Martindale is going to have his last twist at the moment I think it's shinny that looks like
05:35he's going to come on um I don't see another goal I hope I'm wrong
05:39Kevin it's been a real struggle for Livingston this season what what about Hibbs your former side what
05:45have you made of the performance today they were really disappointing midweek
05:48they've been quite direct to be honest Kenny um they've and I was initially surprised because
05:55obviously I mentioned Khalidji and obviously Boyle up front and both like to play on the shoulder
05:59he'd be fair to Khalidji he is good in the air he's got a brilliant leap which we've obviously seen
06:02for the first goal um now they've obviously got Bowie on it gives them a different dimension but
06:07both teams have been quite direct Kenny and I have to say the the two midfield threes have probably
06:13had the lion's share of the game because it's been really contested for the centre-halfs and
06:17whatever's dropped into the middle of the pitch both threes have kind of nullified each other scrap for
06:22it and that's probably where the best opportunities in control have come from right Richard uh viewers
06:26coming up their own minds tonight when they watch sports and we're not sure it was a the most magical touch
06:31from um Martin Boyle for that second goal in 55 minutes but it did look a bit special didn't it
06:37yeah I mean if he means the touch it's outrageous the ball's fizzing at him it's behind him and he
06:42just tries to get something on it and he the ball just drops perfectly from the swivel and finish now
06:47I'm just gonna you know I think I've been critical of Martin Boyle before but in this occasion I'm
06:51going to give him the benefit of doubt and say that he meant that touch he knew what he was doing
06:55and he he executed it perfectly well and it was a fantastic goal right let's get to the fall cut
07:00stadium fall cut at home to come on at what a game this has been billy dodge certainly has it was uh
07:06it's fall cut three come on at one fall cut looked an easy street first half williams mckeeve and miller
07:11giving him a three nil lead it could have been a whole lot more kill eight well they made three subs and go to a
07:16back five and it seems to suit them better than really making a fist about this second half
07:20because uh john jules thompson and these have all tested goalkeeper bain and they got the a
07:26breakthrough um when it was good work down the right hand side by watching and tiffany ball in
07:32the box john jules took a lovely touch and slammed in the net so they were back in it and they have
07:36been pushing i have to say and it would have been interesting if they'd got a second goal but
07:39fall cut have calmed it a little bit now but it's still fall cut three killy one that's a goal at
07:44foothill righty mccall it's now it's been coming it's now party thistle three queens part nil
07:50comfortable uh letoza broke down the right hand side he's crossed it in and logan chalmers is
07:56there just to tap it into an empty net a minute a minute before samuel had crashed one off the
08:01underside of the bar for the home side but i think uh logan chalmers has now put the game
08:05beyond doubt it's part of thistle three queens part nil right we'll go back to in that game's
08:10about 10 minutes behind there was a serious injury in the first half but we've got the pictures coming
08:13into the studio here let's get back to arm and veil a very tight decision there kevin thompson
08:18yeah really close kenny i got the first two in the first half right because i anticipated them
08:22both being offside they're obviously initial foul i did think the first one the grant hanley one was
08:26offside as well it was a foul this time milligan just drifts inside bowie makes a brilliant run
08:32inside the box it's almost toe poke through to him and then he just swivels a big striker hits target
08:36far in the bottom corner but we can just see oh it's really close i think he's on you've got to feel
08:42sorry for the lines when in a situation that there's so many players yeah i think he's he just does a
08:46we swiveled on it and then finishes right right foot into the bottom corner you've not got many
08:51right you need to see that again because i want to know which part of the defenders playing him
08:57inside sometimes the angle that we're seeing at those not really realistic to be able to make
09:02that call so i'm trying to help you out i know you are you know i've made the nonsense of it so far
09:10but i'd nail my colors to the mast early i don't know i should just wait there's been some tight
09:15calls today let's get back to you can see the lines they're touching i thought that is so tight on
09:20side that is so tight watch that one in sports scene tonight let's get back to billy dodds because
09:24billy i'm really interested in this performance from fall cut today they're taking the step up
09:29with absolute ease haven't they they have and uh i mean they're going to what is it 15 points if
09:35they win this one maybe get them into the top six um they have been sensational uh especially first
09:42half they've had to dig in a little bit this second half credit to killy they've come out and they've
09:46had a go and they've created a few opportunities got a goal back but then they've shown another side
09:51to it falcon where they've had to dig in and make sure they get through that period and they did
09:55and now they look comfortable to go and see this one out but that first half performance kenny it
10:00was 3-0 and it was going on 5-6-7 it was sensational yeah it was sensational but if we're to try and put
10:07some balance on it julie we're chatting about this earlier on quite a few injury concerns for stuart
10:12kedderwell and the goalkeeper hasn't covered himself in glory today no i mean really difficult for a young
10:19boy to come in to this level of football and um i think that seems to have been a kind of
10:25turning point for comarnock i watched them earlier in the season against st miran and they were flying
10:30it was a brilliant performance i get a great victory for them but over the last three or four games they
10:35haven't looked like the same side um it is unsettling when you do lose your goalkeeper
10:40um and certainly bringing in a youngster who's still to find his feet um in the game certainly
10:48has made a few mistakes but this is a learning curve for a young goalkeeper at comarnock don't want to
10:53hear that because they need to win games they need points but um for the young goalkeeper you hope
10:59he can bounce back quick enough let's hope so and i have to say all credit to falco it's such a good
11:05news story sell out every single week at the falco stadium and a fantastic style of play
11:10right let's go back to ian mccall it's now part of thistle four queens part nil it's the absolute
11:17opposite of the third goal logan chalmers drives down the left wing fires in the cross and the
11:23provider of logan chalmers goal letoza was at the back post to slam it into the net i mean they're in
11:28total control so the scores now thistle four queens part nil ian just stay with us briefly for people just
11:33joining us on television you're about 10 minutes behind there because of a serious looking injury in the
11:38first half yeah i hope it's not true she's but it was one of the ones kenny uh was on the
11:43the queens part center about charlie fox who's who's had a history of real tough injuries and uh
11:50it was right in front of me went with the ball with tony watt and i think it looked like his knee
11:54kind of stuck in the tough rather than an impact injury it makes me think it may be really serious
12:01i mean the boy was in real distress i mean the game was held up for a good 10 minutes so let's hope
12:06it's it's not too serious yeah let's hope we'll hope we've got an update on that for you so parker
12:11thistle applying some pressure to the league leaders st johnson willie miller but the leaders are
12:16responding in fine fashion yeah they're flying here um in perth kenny it's it's been a really
12:22top-notch performance from st johnson i would say first 10-15 minutes even after that it's been
12:29a performance where they've totally dominated and of course adama sedibi they've been able to
12:34get his hat trick three three very well taken goals the first one you know ahead of the other
12:40two with the feet the third one was a pick of the bunch it was a laser strike down the left-hand side
12:45jamie gulland who's been outstanding in the midfield um today as well perfect pass just into the path
12:51and he drilled it into the far corner so that they're galloping to the three points here airdre
12:57have not put up much resistance to be perfectly honest um but as far as staying at the top of the
13:02table it's looking good they will be there and i'll tell you what they're going to take some shifting
13:07if they perform like this three nil thank you to william miller it's really interesting below the top
13:13two there in terms of the race for playoff spots let's get to starts part raythrovers are at home
13:18to morton and here from chick young 87 minutes have come and gone and the one goal was the difference
13:23in the moment it came from jack hamilton after 40 minutes crossed from doherty and it was a fine
13:29header from halton put it beyond the goalkeeper i have to say now last 10 minutes is on morton after
13:34battle to get back into this we used all five substitutions two game rate is going crazy down
13:40they're trying to get players to come forward and create a chance it would maybe lead to a
13:44equalizer raythrovers hanging on a little bit um and this is a big result for rollers because it
13:50pushes them into one of the uh promotion places uh playoff places as we stand in the league at the
13:56moment and morton are just parachuting into more trouble at the bottom they're desperate to get
14:01this equalizer pushed also the players following the wave after a wave of attack from the greener side
14:07you just can't get the ball to torment the goalkeeper uh josh ray and the rovers goal
14:12it is with what kenny just two minutes left to to play plus time already on if there's any
14:18and it remains a wraith rovers one morton nil yes chick said with that victory if they hang on
14:25rovers into fourth spot the last of the playoff places just above them on 21 points this is a
14:31remarkable story a broth the part-time side they're at home to one of the title favorites before a ball
14:37was kicked this season ross county but it is not going to plan for the men from the highlands let's
14:43now hear the report from tyrone smith
14:45yes our growth it's fair to say have blown ross county away in the gayfield wind this afternoon it's
14:553-0 to our growth as we take into added time in the second half they were 1-0 up at the break a
15:02fantastic harry cochran curling effort from 25 yards they doubled their lead early in the second half
15:07jacob mcintyre even capitalizing on some dreadful county defending to slot the ball into the net and
15:14then on 76 minutes it was game over taylor steven was played any bore down and goal before slotting the
15:20wall under trevor carson to put the hosts on easy street no less than they deserve they've created
15:25chance after chance in the second half at gayfield where it's abro three ross county nil
15:30and fair finish in johnson three every no thank you to willy miller we'll get more from willy
15:37but a comprehensive performance there from the home side alan presson braga almost great save by
15:43mccracken he's played his part but really good move hearts up the second half they're absolutely
15:47hammered dundee hammered them they've never been up the path dundee it's been a real struggle for them
15:53after that opening 20 minutes in the first half it's been total domination yes let's get back to
15:58there could be a potential hand ball referee coming over friendly already foz you say that
16:05he's going early he's going early i need enough dm i say i'm double or nothing here
16:09right here we go it's a big talk to you
16:11right here we go it's a big talk to you
16:13nine points clear
16:13good stuff thanks alan presson
16:15full time kenny it's finished full cut three come on up one
16:18a huge three points here and a huge moment at almondvale right here we go
16:22callum scott looking his hands out i think it's danny finlison at the back post
16:26goal
16:27kieran burry it's a goal yes
16:29martin have equalized
16:30milligan there
16:3290 minutes gone and martin have equalized corner kick the left hand side
16:37swung in i'm not very sure who got the final touch but i'll tell you right now they have equalized
16:42it is ray throwers won a blow for them martin won a boost for them yeah just a minute ago they were
16:48sitting comfortably in fourth spot that is now in serious jeopardy late drama there
16:52it starts part and late drama kevin johnson through that moonvale yeah late drama kenny it's a
16:57penalty
16:58calum scott's seen enough i'm not quite sure with the footage who had come off it was definitely
17:02danny finnison at the back post for livingston who was it nikki cadden who had come off yeah julie's
17:07had a look graham kearney all the pressure is on kenny left peg we know he's got a wonderful
17:12left peg he's had a good few crosses into the box actually in the second half the pressure is on
17:16steps up
17:19here we go big moment
17:23go oh what a penalty what a penalty just left it not quite in the top corner goalkeeper's side
17:30probably the safer side for a lefty the game on now enough to say kenny livingston have been pushing
17:35this last five ten minutes him soaking it up are we going to get a winner right i think out the two
17:40people in the studio but taking penalties will ask julie about that when that was good yeah i
17:45wouldn't ask any of the three years to be honest kenny it was a brilliant penalty he's got such great
17:50technique carey hasn't he he does he strikes a lovely ball and so confident as he steps up goalkeeper
17:55goes the right way but there's absolutely no chance he's going to get to it it's a lovely penalty right
18:01into the side netting and perhaps role reversal here yes it's chris moore with the header there
18:07a dramatic we're ready time added on the 90 had come and gone corner and the on the left side and
18:13and chris moore with the header magnificent beyond them uh beyond the goalkeeper and it is one each
18:19and what a dramatic conclusion this match yeah that goal coming in the 91st minute
18:26just watching there david martindale on the touchline and we've talked already and on the show about
18:31losing late goals in livingston and uh livingston i think was at four games of they've lost a goal
18:39after the 90th minute so he's adamant he's getting his team together trying to get them to regroup switch
18:44on be concentrated and because now the shoes on the other foot they've managed to get that late goal and
18:49they need to hang on um at this moment in time so it's about managing the game and from a livingston point of
18:55view uh just just look at the table and it makes a confusing reading because hibbs are in third spot
19:00richard you know 15 points but so have ranger so falker muddle on 14 points of course in league cup
19:06a semi-final action today but still feels to me as if hibbs haven't really got going this season
19:11yeah and i suppose that's credit to hibbs in the way they played at the second you know the second half of
19:15last season um and the fact that they're still in that position in the league and we haven't really
19:20seen them hit the form they did last year only bodes well for david gray and his side because
19:25it's very very difficult when you're looking up we spoke about ross county and the position there and
19:30how hard it is to get any momentum now hibbs are maybe not getting the momentum in terms of performance
19:35but they're still getting enough from games um enough wins enough draws to get themselves up the
19:39league i mean it's a strange league in the sense that like three wins or three or four wins is the most
19:44for any other team outside celtic and heart so it's um it's strange in that respect anyway but i just
19:49think it it only bodes well for hibbs because when they do eventually come good which i think they
19:53will um they can go and push on it and push for that you know second third and fourth spot yeah
19:58starts park it finishes rovers one morton one and that's made a huge difference to rovers in terms
20:04of getting themselves into a playoff place also a late equalizer at palmerston couldn't to the south
20:08one stennis muir one ross taylor with that goal on 93 minutes the camera kevin thompson just panned to
20:14the dugout there davy martindale going absolutely nuts just as julie was saying trying to get his
20:19players to concentrate now because we've spoken at the late goals they've lost they need now to hang
20:25on to this yeah i love him kenny i do i love his emotion he's obviously got big marv there hastings
20:30there obviously he's lieutenant truly but yeah they're going to have to need to defend oh no they're
20:33not going to need to defend the box oh he's blue for full time kenny i thought he's going to be much
20:37longer that's controversial finishes two too yeah that's a big point for livingston no doubt at all about
20:44that so what we're going to do we're going to go around the grounds for you we will do the classifieds
20:49we'll do the tables and then we will cross to hamden park the first of the league cup semi-finals
20:55mother will at home to sit burn it's a 5 30 start full coverage on bbc radio scotland so let's then get
21:01to the first of our commentary matches this afternoon hearts at home to dindee the league leaders coasting
21:07it against stephen presley side through there at time castle let's hear from our commentary team
21:13there this afternoon rob mcclain and ryan stevenson yeah kenny the maroon machine powers on and 11 games
21:21into this premiership season hearts almost unbelievably have a nine point lead they pull further clear of
21:29celtic on the back of a hugely emphatic performance here against dundee who looked to be very much in it
21:36for the first 20 25 minutes managing to put together some pretty nice football steven presley's
21:42team but eventually lauren shankland rifled in a left footer off the inside of the post
21:48to break the deadlock after a stunning shvolov save down at the other end landry kabori scored to make
21:56it two before halftime his first goal for the tank castle team and he enjoyed it so much he did
22:02same again on the other side of the interval a spittle shot producing a wonder save from the
22:07kraken but it came back off the post and the burkina faso international tapped in for his second goal of
22:13the game thomas magnuson the young icelander scored his first goal for hearts in the second half as dundee
22:20were simply blown away and derek mckinnis and his team moved further clear at the top of the premiership
22:28ryan stevenson alongside rob there at tyne castle ryan we chatted before kickoff and a couple of
22:33hearts fans on asked them how excited they were you were saying you were trying to rain your emotions
22:38in a wee bit but what did you make of that performance today oh it was absolutely outstanding i think um
22:45as rob said dundee actually started the game kind of reasonably well and then it all sort of hinged on
22:50that save from the hearts goalkeeper it was outstanding then 60 seconds later launch goes up
22:56the parking as an again another outstanding finish from lawrence which we've sort of grown to expect
23:02but i mean through the main i i genuinely cannot remember hearts playing as good as that the full
23:09time that i've been retired and probably even well 100 the time i was here we never we never played like
23:15that but um they were absolutely outstanding where are you in a title challenge ryan where are you right
23:19now come on listen we're in it i think um as i said i'm trying my hardest because i just think to
23:26myself it's celtic and rangers i know obviously rangers are further down but it's celtic they've
23:31been so dominant for the last 14 15 years um and then we get to christmas everyone sort of starts to go
23:38into uncharted waters because derek hasn't been in that sort of situation before but listen he's an amazing
23:44manager i'm watching fans coming in here before the game and they're high-fiving each other and the energy and
23:49the place is so positive um and then you think to yourself which i do at times i think it'll be a
23:55hard game against undy and will the players be able to step up to the mark and i mean oh they just did
24:00every single one of them the ones that came on did um the ones that started did i mean it was just
24:06yeah do you know what yeah we are we've got a chance right okay alan preston is also there for us
24:11today so alan preston where are you and i'm wondering if we get you and ryan and that cloudy braga song
24:16before the program ends today over be christmas no it's a long long way kenny it was put to me
24:23this week we're seven miles into a marathon and that's the case it is it's a long long way to go
24:27a lot of points to be played for celtic will certainly get better the argument a few weeks
24:31ago was can hearts finish uh second which was more likely and i think that's a real possibility you
24:37know it really do i think they've been terrific i listen to ryan there and i've got to agree with
24:41them hearts today were sensational after an opening 15 20 minutes where dundee was stuffy and had to
24:46break down had that good chance for congrave a deflected hit but apart from that you know they
24:51were never really in the game and hearts dominated scored four could have scored more
24:55derrick gave players a rest they brought other players on that hadn't been getting game time
24:59magnus and as i said in the commentary he will score goals and he never let me down he came on and
25:03scored the goal it was just an all-round brilliant performance they'll roll on to dundee united at home
25:08next week a real tough game again but it's home the crowd will be here they'll be buoyant they'll
25:12be up for it but it's a long long way to go and i will not be singing the song i sing it every day
25:18in the car but i won't be singing it on air one day we'll get there you listen ryan i'm sure we'll do
25:23it we'll get there just shortly because we're on television until about 25 past perhaps we will get
25:29derrick mckinnis live for you he must be absolutely buzzing the hearts manager a very different story for
25:35their city neighbors today hibbs conceding a late late goal at amonvale against livingston kevin
25:42thompson there for us a fantastic point for the home side but let's focus on hibbs first of all
25:47kevin another frustrating day for them yeah i think um just in the manner of how they concede in the
25:52end obviously you run the risk when balls going into your box kenny danny finlison at the back post
25:57and then it goes to obviously to var and callum scott rightly obviously points to the spot and graham
26:01kearney obviously gets probably in the end the last 10 minute push a well-deserved point for for
26:07livingston but i think the way he have started um with the front force a collegian martin boyle and
26:13with the control that they had after a brilliant start a wonderful finish for jamie mcgray you won't
26:17see a better strike on his left peg and it all come from nothing really um but i think dave and his
26:22players you could i'm only obviously in the main stand looking across at the hibbs fans when the players
26:27kind of go around after the game and you could see a wee bit subdued you could see the body language
26:31of the hibbs players so i certainly think they'll feel as though it's a three points drop today yeah
26:36such an important point for the home side today julie we spoke about their troubles and a dreadful
26:41run of form but perhaps just something now to build on yeah and i think previously livingston have been
26:46really tough to to break down at home but that hasn't quite been the case and they had lost the the
26:52three home games prior to that so really important they got something out the game they didn't want to start
26:57drifting away from from the rest of the sides in the in the league um and also the fact that they
27:04did get that late goal and they had been um on the other side of it in numerous times during numerous
27:10games this season um will have given them a bit of confidence that they have managed to manage that
27:15game not only have they managed to see out the game but they've managed to get a late goal as well
27:20and they'll be looking that or they'll be hoping that they can start moving forward from now
27:23no such worries for the fellow promoted side falker they have been terrific this season another great
27:30performance this afternoon at home to kalmarik let's get the full-time report from billy dodds yeah
27:36all the damage was done in the first half here kenny williams mckeever miller put the bairns 3-0 up at
27:41half time the first came in seven minutes when a miller passed just set williams through went round
27:46the goalkeeper and popped it into the net and then there was a late var check and it was tight but the goal was
27:52rightly given um they went 2-0 up and 22 minutes when a wilson strike
27:58oh yeah mate he spilled it and mckeever just bundled into the net he was the first to react as all good
28:03strikers do it it was three and it was easy and it was all it was all too routine for falker
28:09graham flicked a long ball on williams picked up a nice pass to miller who slammed in an angled finish
28:15into the second half killy made three changes and went to a back five and it seemed to work for a
28:20while they did respond deez had a goal chopped off rightly so when fouling the goalkeeper and then
28:25john jules deez and thompson all tested goalkeeper bairn and he brought off a few good good saves
28:31anderson then also had a a goal in a ball in the net that was chopped off when he was a tight call
28:36just slightly offside and he did get a consolation command up 20 minutes from time and a good move
28:42finish off by john jules after a good play from watson and and tiffany down the right um but it was all too
28:48little too late killy showed a response second half but left themselves a mountain to climb
28:53falkirk deserved winners and up to fifth it finished here falkirk three command at one billy just before
28:59you leave as you say up to fifth it's a fantastic story they're climbing through the league sell out
29:03every single week there at the falkirk stadium what's key to their success on the park this season do you
29:09think uh belief uh an attacking style of play and the crowd play a massive part here uh even when killy
29:17were having a spell second half and pushed them back the crowd just got right behind them and
29:21sort of got them through that um so but it's an attacking style i was worried about them early on
29:27uh in the season when they were giving away a few too too too many goals and all too easily but they
29:33seem to show that up a little bit they still play that attacking style and boy did these fans get
29:38right behind them yeah it's a great story thanks to billy dodds we'll cross motherwell and st
29:43merton fans stay tuned we'll cross to the national stadium we'll get the team news for you we'll hear

31:42reading when we look at the top flight table in scotland this evening hearts are absolutely flying
31:48high nine points clear at the top of the table celtic of course not in league action this weekend
31:55you look at the goal difference hearts plus 19 goals from their 11 games celtic 20 points hibbs late
32:02drama for them losing points at almondvale they are on 15 points as are rangers and falca what a great
32:08story for john mcglinside motherwell into the top six they make up the top six rather 14 points
32:14dundee united 13 three sides on 10 points st mirran aberdeen and kilmarnock dundee nine points and
32:20livingston seven points but a valuable point for davy martindale's side late on almondvale this

33:46on the television for another 20 minutes or so but the action will continue on bbc radio scotland what a
33:52game we have for you our second commentary of the day the first of the league cup semi-finals what a game
33:58this should be all our pundits saying is way too close to call motherwell are up against st mirren
34:03let's cross to the national stadium and join james mcfardin rory loy and our match commentator
34:09alistair lamon good evening joe al you can bring us that all important team use yes good evening kenny
34:14good evening from hamden a massive chance for both these sides to reach a cup final uh mother will up
34:20against st mirren i'll give you the starting 11s for both sides mother will go with callum ward in goal
34:27it's a back four of katrumbus mcgin gordon and longalow watts and faddinger in the heart of the
34:34midfield with mazwanese side and just ahead of them with stomatalopoulos leading the line as for
34:41st mirren with gogich and richardson coming back from suspension they go with george and goal the back
34:46three is fraser gogich and freckleton richardson and joe on the wing backs uh bacchus phillips and
34:52o'hara in the midfield lundulu and mandron leading the line for saints as you say jane
34:58fadden and rory lawyer here with me james for you first of all what do you make of the motherwell team
35:04and also their chances of success here this evening yeah i mean mother were in a a good place at the
35:10minute couple of couple of wins in the last couple of games and you know the manager obviously feels
35:15that this is this is the way to go for the the semi-final um it's going to be an interesting
35:21game because much has been made of the the you know the ends where to ask his style um and i think
35:26that you know we're seeing that it can be effective you know there was a period where it was draws and
35:31and you know failing to get that victory and you know being in winning positions and losing leads and
35:37you know criticism came his way but i spoke to him earlier in the season and he is clear that this is
35:43the way he wants to play he won't change um he feels that he can make players better and i think
35:47he's done that so it's interesting st mirren i think will be aggressive against them and try and
35:52press and win the ball and force those errors and it will be a case of you know motherwell will make
35:57mistakes we've seen that throughout the season and but i think they'll also cause a minor important
36:01problem so it's very interesting i'm looking forward to it um and hopefully mother will get the job done
36:07yeah similarly for you rory in terms of that st mirren lineup any surprises in there and do you think
36:12they can go and get the job done this evening even now i i don't think there's many surprises i have to
36:18say he's got a pretty consistent squad a couple of changes they've lost three of the last four which
36:21will be disappointing uh you look at that midfield of bacchus o'hara and phillips you know people often
36:26talk about st mirren and their physicality and i think stephen robinson's sick to the back teeth
36:30of hearing that but really consistently over stephen robinson's time here the fullbacks or the wingback
36:35should i say have been so so important you know scott tanzer and ryan strain have played their part
36:40over the years tonight it's declan john and richardson so for me they are underappreciated in
36:46the football they play they'll need to get the ball out to these wingbacks and that comes from you know
36:50intricate play in the middle of the pitch not in their own half they do like to do it in the right
36:54areas people talk about the balls into the box and the set plays often that comes from the two
36:59smallest players on the pitch for st mirren and john and richardson because you know these are the
37:03wingbacks who are supplying these balls into the box and i think that will be a key area of the
37:07pitch tonight for st mirren is the wingbacks can they push saeed and maswanese back the way and
37:12can they take control of the game yeah it's a very interesting game in prospect here this evening
37:18at hampton we'll hear from both managers very shortly but uh yeah kickoff coming up 5 30.
37:22thank you to alistair james and rory there at the national stadium full commentary to come on bbc
37:29radio scotland i can see the pictures coming in here from the games the three o'clock games this
37:34afternoon first manager out john mcglynn he is in the screen in front of us he must be delighted with
37:39his side performance today hopefully we'll bring that to you on television you'll certainly hear it
37:43on bbc radio scotland so just in terms of that league cup semi-final the first one kicking off julie
37:48at 5 30. we discussed this earlier on richard just just edging towards motherwell how do you see it
37:55um i think two sides that are kind of really contrasting the way that they the style of play
38:01um i think mother will very much looking to play possession looking to play through the lines want
38:06to play football and we heard james talking there and they're not going to change the way they play
38:11regardless of the results they want to continue to play that type of football st mirren they're really
38:17physical and they're very organized they do like to play football but they like to play football high
38:23up so they like to get the ball forward as quickly as they can really physical strikers and so it's a
38:28really interesting game when you have these two sides that are extremely different in the style of play
38:34it just i think the start of the game is going to be really important what side can get a hold of
38:38the ball what side can dominate um and really force and make a a real strong impact in the start of the
38:45game and um a difficult one to to make a guess at what the score is going to be you'll be hoping it'll
38:51be an entertaining one certainly when you look at both sides um it does it's a really good fixture i
38:59think the way that the the ties have been drawn for this semi-final it's really really interesting
39:04um and i won't call it i'm unlike richard um but certainly hoping for a a really good positive
39:12game do you know what we can hear is atmosphere building in the background richard i think both
39:17sides have sold both clubs have sold about eight and a half thousand tickets and what i'm thinking
39:21about here is i'm hoping it's a great game because it's a special occasion a great day out for fans of
39:26these these small clubs isn't it's fantastic yes it's magnificent you don't get it that often you
39:31know i think fans of the of the bigger clubs and probably more recently celtic they just become
39:36used to it it's like what they do every year they go to at least one possibly two semi-finals or finals
39:41and um it is more special for the smaller clubs i've been lucky enough to go there with smaller clubs
39:46and and win a cup um and it just it feels more magic you know it doesn't feel as as routine as it
39:53certainly will for for a lot of celtic fans um especially in recent times rangers fans obviously before
39:58that so and i think it obviously gives us more excitement as well i know i'm not entirely
40:03uh unbiased in this but as a supporter of scottish football it gives there is more excitement i just
40:09think the thought that either motherwell or smith will make the final and it gives them an opportunity
40:13to to win the cup and i just think that adds extra excitement and you know people can can challenge
40:19me if they want but i just think the whole of scottish football will want either motherwell or smith to
40:23win the cup i just think it brings a same way with hearts of the league absolutely maybe not the
40:27whole well i'd say they're the old form um it just brings a freshness it just brings something
40:33different and i think you know we're constantly trying to market our game and promote our game and
40:37and different teams smaller teams winning cups um i think just adds to the magic of scottish football
40:42yeah you spoke there about hearts i think we're all most of us are loving this story there was
40:47pressure on them today julie to deliver because everyone was expecting them to beat dundee it's been a
40:51a struggle for dundee this season albeit they've had a couple of really good results we can see
40:54steven presley on the screen in front of us here we'll hopefully hear from him just shortly but they
41:00just weren't at it at all today and it strikes me that when you go to time castle and it is buzzing
41:05the way that it is we had some hearts fans on earlier against a very good heart side full of
41:10confidence it's going to be really difficult for any side to go there we saw that last weekend with
41:14yeah and i mean the d coming off the back of of a defeat um the week before um i think knowing
41:22the type of place that time castle is it can be extremely intimidating if you're
41:26um the away side and i think the the way hearts have been playing and rightly so that the fans are
41:33getting really behind them they're making a great atmosphere and i think the minute hearts managed to take
41:38a hold of the game um there was only ever going to be one winner and with the support behind them
41:43with um the options that they have with the the strikers that they've got the midfield runs
41:50um i think they look as if they're in a really really good place and i didn't mean to put on my
41:55jambos colors um but certainly i think it's been a a good luck omen for them they were very very good
42:02today richard and we touched on this earlier on but i think it is important because sometimes when
42:06something special is happening you can just you can see things coming together that there's a
42:11synergy around the club and we spoke about the changes derrick mckinnis made today claudio braga
42:15the real cult hero right now for hearts fans is that wonderful song that's got millions and millions
42:20of views from the the rendition from the hearts fans in paisley midweek but he started on the bench
42:25today and kabori replaced him kabori did really well great celebrations with him and he went over to derrick
42:29mckinnis when he scored his first goal jumping all over his manager but i immediately was drawn to the
42:33the dugout behind him and leading the celebrations in there claudio braga there's obviously a great
42:39unity about hearts right now yeah and that's exactly what you need you know derrick is going to have to
42:43make changes to his team he's going to have to leave players out and to bring that freshness they're
42:48going to you know they're going to have a lot of competitive games a lot of tough games
42:51um any the reason that clubs have big squads and try and create that real strength and depth
42:58is so they can freshen the team up so he needs he needs the buy-in from all the players you look at
43:02blair spittle coming into the game today i thought he did really really well he was absolutely gutted
43:06that his shot doesn't go in but then they scored the goal from it and i think when they've got that
43:09type of quality if you can keep them right in terms of their mentality and in their application
43:14it's only going to bode well for hearts but i think derrick has shown that it's you know i've never
43:19heard derrick talk about philosophy or style of play he's just brilliant tactician a great man
43:25manager i've worked with him i know how he works he's very very good at this the minor details he's
43:30very very good at picking a team up he's very very good at setting a team up and it just shows
43:34you that yes they play good football but he's got good players so he probably doesn't dictate how
43:40they play football he puts players on the pitch and they know you know you see there and shankton
43:45and spittle form a real brilliant partnership throughout the first half lots of little one
43:48touch passes around the corner because they know they're both good players it's the dynamic changes
43:53when braga comes on because he's slightly different he brings a different dynamic and it just seems like
43:57hearts are able to mold themselves into whatever the game needs and what players have got on the
44:01pitch and they just go out and play with a real freedom and real enjoyment and that comes from
44:05the manager but just briefly in terms of the manager take me into the dressing room what's he
44:09like is he a manager's got that aura does he lose it often what's he like the players he can lose
44:14it i mean we actually we got called in on a sunday after losing the game on a saturday and i had
44:18i'd had a wild shot from 45 yards but he has this way that he he just you know we watch the shot go in
44:25and he just turns to me and goes foz when was the last time you scored from there
44:29you know in that way that he's absolutely nailing me yes he's not doing it in a way that it's going
44:34to be confrontational because i mean what can i say to that he's completely right so he can he can
44:38lose it when he needs to but most of the time he's he's composed and he he picks out the right things
44:45to say he doesn't just shoot aimless things right let's see if another manager is doing a terrific job
44:50fall cut three command one this afternoon looking at the table fall cut fifth on the table 15 points
44:57in the opening 11 games john mcglenn's been speaking with martin dowden john a brilliant
45:04outcome for you and based on a phenomenal first half display yeah spot on exactly that yeah first half
45:10uh blue command away the boys were on top forum uh delight with them uh the three behind uh ross
45:18the energy the pace karell what a first half performance that was calvin miller ethan
45:24they get the goals and i thought karell's performance was outstanding in the first half
45:30and of course ross ross gets a goal sorry he gets a goal goal two falling in a shot from karell
45:35uh obviously the message at half time was trying to keep it going but we knew that come on it would
45:40uh we're never ever going to just lie down and we're going to get a lot closer to us and
45:44make it a lot more difficult to be fair i thought they dominated the second half
45:48uh a couple of reasonable good saves for scotty arfield yeah sorry scott bean and then
45:56and then we've managed to defend most things after that with the exception of the goal so
46:02at three o'clock we were taking three one we wanted 15 points uh we wanted another three
46:08points to add to the 12 we had which is getting us to 15 i believe that's a really really good return
46:14you know after the first 11 games yeah well done to john mcglenn we can see all the managers coming
46:20into the studio here watching the facial expressions of davy martindale right now it is very very
46:25entertaining we'll be delighted with that late goal that got them appointed home to
46:29hibbs this afternoon the action continues on bbc radio scotting 5 30 start at the national stadium
46:35the first of the league cup semi-finals motherwell at home to st myr and lr on we get the team news
46:41from our guys here let's now hear from the motherwell manager jens bertel ask who he's been speaking
46:46with kenny crawford jens your coaching career is taking you to some different leagues and countries so
46:51far how do you think today this semi-final is going to rank in all your experiences so far yeah well
46:56obviously it's a special occasion uh there's been a lot of talk about us going to hampton uh i haven't
47:03been here before i haven't seen the venue live so uh obviously it's uh it's special to be here now
47:08and then uh that being said we know it's what happens within the lines that's uh that's important
47:14for us and we'll try to focus on that uh whilst we uh kind of suck all the energy out uh in from uh from
47:21the surroundings jens bertelasko there sounds like a good atmosphere building at the national stadium
47:26just eight and a half minutes from kickoff there the second semi-final full coverage on sports and
47:31tomorrow on bbc radio scotting from midday celtic against rangers just before we go off air on
47:37television richard i just want to speak a bit about the championship today because
47:41st johnson scoring a lot of goals so many options up front it wasn't always the case part of this
47:46a dreadful start the season of course up there in mcdermott park but since then disappointing last
47:51week very very good today and also a real story developing with with ross county they just can't
47:56seem to get any momentum in this league at all can they no and we spoke about that during the game and
48:01it's they've had a tough start and we we talk about how important momentum is in sport and how
48:06important confidence is in sport and they just the games that they've won i don't think they've been
48:12overly convincing they've maybe nicked the victory late on or they've they've won it by a single goal
48:16here or there and i just don't think they've they've had enough games in a row where they've
48:21they've consistently played well enough to start building any kind of form or any kind of momentum
48:26and and if you were to ask me why i mean i've got a lot wrong today but i couldn't tell you because
48:33you know i think they've got a decent enough squad i think they've in don and his coaching staff and now
48:39certainly in in tony dock and and em callum they've got experience there they've got guys who
48:44are good with players they're good with tactics they're good at energizing squads so there's just
48:49something missing at the moment and to put your finger on it is that's the the million the million
48:53pound question and i'm sure em roy is looking at that going what else do we need to do i'm sure tony
48:57dock and that going what else do we need to do because they have the experience and they have the
49:02the tactical nose but they just can't seem to get the players going yeah i can see stuart ketwell on the
49:07screen in front of us here he's scratching his head right now his side just weren't at it at all in
49:11the first half a bit better in the second half you'd have to see but falkirk had done the business
49:16by then so julie we've got about 30 seconds left so you wouldn't commit to a winner of the semi-final
49:22let's go back then to the premiership are we gonna have a proper title race this season yeah i think when
49:29you look at the performance um this afternoon and they're definitely a side worthy of being up there at
49:34the end if they continue to play the way they're playing get the results and that they have been
49:39then yeah i think we're well let's hope so it's very exciting for all of us thanks to everyone who's
49:44joined us on bbc television today enjoy your saturday night the conversation continues on radio scotland
49:50bye for now
49:59you
