02:10We're in the corner now for Mitchell Frame.
02:13Good work rate from King though.
02:15Frame has pinched it back off him.
02:16That's a good battle on that left-hand side.
02:21Malloy deflected.
02:27And Mandron will give chase to this.
02:30Morrison gets there first.
02:33No whistle.
02:35And Mandron gets support from Phillips.
02:38Huge chance.
02:42Well, St. Mirren have been putting good pressure on without the ball.
02:46And Mandron, just as mere presence, unsettling the Aberdeen defence.
02:55Phillips up in support.
02:59Can't find the target.
03:01It has been St. Mirren's problem all season.
03:04That lack of goal-scoring punch.
03:07Crackle McLeish with some strong words.
03:10Off the 3-0 humbling by Kalmarnock at the weekend.
03:14And Palo Versa.
03:17Nisbet.
03:19Finds all the sanya.
03:21Devlin makes the run.
03:23Here is Nicky Devlin.
03:24Low ball.
03:25Nisbet couldn't get anything onto it.
03:31Frame.
03:32Back to Aremu.
03:35That really was a pinpoint ball from Nicky Devlin.
03:40Devlin was on his bike early.
03:43He just slides that right across the 6-yard box.
03:46It's begging to be tapped in.
03:57And that's given away.
03:59Mandron takes the shot early.
04:01It's deflected away.
04:05And Rehmut.
04:07And Farah.
04:08Going backwards here.
04:12Free kick given.
04:13To St. Mirren.
04:24Can St. Mirren make the most of a set-piece opportunity before half-time?
04:28Played down the side of the box for Devlin.
04:30Puts it across.
04:30Goal!
04:31And they can make the most of it.
04:33Richard King taps into the back post.
04:37It's a big goal for St. Mirren.
04:40They simply have to win.
04:44They catch Aberdeen off guard here as Devlin puts it across.
04:49And it's the defender king who steals in there.
04:55And he had a calm head to tuck it away as it sat up off the surface.
05:01Finally, St. Mirren have a league goal to celebrate.
05:10So, St. Mirren look to pick up where they left off after scoring three minutes before the break.
05:17And Verdeen aiming to get back into this game.
05:20Steven Robinson has made a couple of half-time changes.
05:23Jack Milne and Lyle Cameron on for Liam Morrison and Afiza Rehmut.
05:28Alasanya goes after this.
05:29Gets there in again.
05:30Fires it across.
05:31Devlin fetches it.
05:33Stands it up to the penalty spot.
05:34Nisbet with the header.
05:36King did enough to put the Aberdeen striker off.
05:42Kevin Nisbet is appealing for the corner.
05:46St. Mirren watch the ball across from Alasanya.
05:52Brighter start to the second half though from Aberdeen.
05:56Barely attacking force in the first half.
05:58And Cameron finds Alasanya.
06:00Alasanya clean through.
06:01And Gogic gets a vital touch to take the ball away from his former teammate as he was about to
06:09pull the trigger.
06:11St. Mirren wanted offside.
06:13Alasanya was on.
06:14Couldn't get it out of his feet though.
06:17Gogic was back quick as a flash.
06:32Geiger.
06:34That's poor from the German.
06:36And now St. Mirren are in behind.
06:38It's Mika Mandron.
06:39Takes the early strike and it's tame.
06:44You're just expecting Mika Mandron to try to take the leather off the ball here.
06:47Really test Bratweit.
06:49He's never beaten a goalkeeper.
06:53Nisbet.
06:54Tad isolated up here for Aberdeen.
06:57Now has support.
06:58Oh and he's found it brilliantly through Frame.
07:00Frame.
07:00Saved by Sinclair.
07:02Back to Frame.
07:04Donnelly is able to defend stoutly for St. Mirren.
07:09Mitchell Frame scored his first Aberdeen goal.
07:12A couple of weeks ago against Livingston.
07:15Not a bad strike.
07:18It's now out to Devlin.
07:20He's looking for that run of Alasanya.
07:23So strong Alasanya and he's beating Gogic to it.
07:25It's Toyosi Alasanya for Kevin Nisbet.
07:31Poor finish from Kevin Nisbet and he knows it.
07:35Looking for that 10th Premiership goal of the season.
07:39And Alasanya is sharp of the mark.
07:44Too strong for Gogic.
07:48Finds Campbell towards the edge of the box.
07:51Mandron takes it on the chest.
07:53Tust in with Knuster.
07:55Phillips goes after it.
07:56And the free kick is given.
07:59And the yellow card is out for Dennis Geiger for his protests.
08:04He was having a go at the referee earlier.
08:06And David Dickinson's patience is snapped.
08:09And Geiger issued with the yellow cards.
08:14Gogic has a go.
08:16Off the bar.
08:20Oh and then Malloy's late there.
08:22Freckled and slides it in.
08:24And it is 2-0.
08:29Killian Phillips against his former club.
08:33Surely wraps up the three points.
08:35And boy did he enjoy it.
08:38Is there anything Gogic can't do?
08:41Totemic at the back.
08:43Cultured swipe which is unfortunate.
08:46To come back off the bar.
08:48And what about the delivery?
08:52Mandron on a plate.
08:54And Phillips forces it over the line.
09:04Good run this from Lyle Cameron.
09:07Frame.
09:09Keskin in.
09:10Close down.
09:13Chinney.
09:16Frame slides the ball in.
09:18Comes to Chinney on his right foot.
09:20Takes it.
09:20Oh no.
09:21It's come off the bar.
09:24I think it took a deflection on its way through.
09:26You don't often see Graeme Chinney
09:28take this on on his right foot.
09:31Takes a wicked deflection off King.
09:34On its way on to the crossbar.
09:38So the message was simple for Kilmarnock as they welcomed Dundee to Rugby Park.
09:42Win and you're safe.
09:47Kilmarnock have had very little trouble of late against the Tangerine half of the City of Discovery.
09:51They're unbeaten in the last 11 against Dundee United in all competitions.
09:55But they've yet to find a way to beat Dundee this season across four games.
10:02Kilmarnock with a fine 3-0 win at St. Beren.
10:05Bruce Anderson comes in.
10:07That's the only change to that starting 11.
10:09He's preferred to Nicky Klesenko.
10:12Dundee had a 3-0 win of their own against Livingston to guarantee safety.
10:15Just three players start again tonight.
10:18Kieran Nahara in goals.
10:19Ryan Astley and Brad Halliday have the eight players coming in.
10:23It's their first appearance in 2026 for Clark Robertson.
10:29Nice moment.
10:30Both managers together.
10:31Former Hearts teammates, international teammates.
10:34They were near neighbours as well for a while.
10:38The start of the split saw both of these sides suffer defeat.
10:41But they both bounce back well.
10:43The start of the split saw both of them.
10:45Thompson.
10:47On to Curtis.
10:50He's in such fine form at the moment.
10:52There's the opportunity.
10:54Straight down the throat of Kieran Nahara.
10:56While Tom Lowry worked himself in a good position.
11:00Yet to find the back of the net for Kilmarnock.
11:14Dees.
11:16Here we go.
11:17Rounds that nicely.
11:18Here's the opportunity for Curtis.
11:23Fabulous football from Kilmarnock.
11:26Rounded off by Finlay Curtis.
11:30The Scottish internationalist scores for the fourth time in three games.
11:36And he took it so calmly.
11:39Dees played it through.
11:40Kugel worked the little interchange.
11:43And he just poked it home.
11:45Great set-up play.
11:47And Killian ahead.
11:50Well, they will check for offside here.
11:53It won't count.
11:55Offside.
11:57That's how close it was.
12:03Look at the strike before half-time.
12:07Lovely ball into the middle.
12:08And there is the chance.
12:11While Bruce Anderson was lingering on the left-hand side.
12:16Finlay-Larsen, lovely ball across.
12:18Anderson just couldn't bring it down as he wanted into stride.
12:25Killed his corner.
12:27Well, Finlay-Curtis found himself free.
12:32But couldn't direct it on target.
12:34And we'll feel that he should have scored there.
12:44Dundee looking to get things moving through.
12:46Finlay-Robertsen.
12:47Robertsen sends it out wide.
12:49There's Hay.
12:50Well, it took them into the second half to get their first look.
12:55Seriously, a goal-enforced.
12:56Max Stryak into the save.
12:58And that's Brighter from Dundee.
13:03There's the set play.
13:07Oh, Killy were a little bit slow to read that.
13:10Curtis got the shot away.
13:12Kilty around the corner.
13:14It's flashed across for Robertson.
13:17Kilty up again.
13:19Thompson again gets it away.
13:20Thompson, that took a deflection.
13:23Thompson got the shot away.
13:26Away by Robertson.
13:28Right couldn't get there.
13:29It's deflected off him.
13:34Halliday.
13:38Jones to Robertson.
13:39Robertson out wide.
13:41Samuels.
13:41Good crosser of the ball.
13:43It's a great ball in.
13:45Stryak kept his eye on the ball at all times.
13:48He was under severe pressure from Hay.
13:52Kamara know what a win in their safe.
13:54Just eight wins in 36 Scottish Premiership matches.
13:59Nicely done by Kilty.
14:01There's the ball around the corner.
14:02Sheldon Larson pulls it back.
14:04Great strike.
14:06What a way to score.
14:08Your first goal for Kamara.
14:11Tom Lowry.
14:13Well, it's the fifth consecutive start for Tom Lowry.
14:17And he has rewarded Neil McCann.
14:19With a fine finish.
14:21He set it up.
14:21The ball back inside.
14:23Took it in stride.
14:24That is a wonderful strike.
14:27Kilty.
14:28Could only watch as Lowry hammered her home
14:31and congratulate his team-mate.
14:33Go! Go!
14:41Thompson.
14:41Lovely flick out wide.
14:43It's on to Finlay-Curtis.
14:45Curtis has the pace.
14:46There's the step over.
14:47There's the flick.
14:50Well, Greg Kilty.
14:52Thinks that took a nick on the way through.
14:55Curtis pressed the accelerator.
14:58Kilty with a clever clip.
15:02O'Hara is very short.
15:06No free kick given.
15:08Hugo battles in there.
15:09This might fall for Curtis to finish it off.
15:14Well, it's another chance for Finlay-Curtis.
15:18On another day, he'd have three by now.
15:26Samuels.
15:27Kometeo gives it away to Spola.
15:30Cottrell rescues the situation.
15:32Finlay-Robertson brings it away.
15:34Robertson plays it through.
15:35It's a lovely ball on the angle for Joe Bevan.
15:39The youngster looking at a set-up at the edge of the area.
15:41There's the shot.
15:42It's deflected and it's in.
15:45Charlie Riley helps himself to his second goal of the season.
15:50Bevan and they both come against Kilmarnock.
15:54Charlie Riley celebrates.
15:56And there's another twist in the battle for the play-off place.
16:00Bevan was calm.
16:02Picked him out.
16:03Riley let fly.
16:08This is calm from the youngster.
16:10He heard the shout.
16:12Lowry went out.
16:14Couldn't get himself to make the block.
16:17Max Stryjeck is beaten.
16:26Kilty.
16:28Killy has a penalty.
16:29Wilson-Brat.
16:33Referee says penalty.
16:35Well, the youngster went in for the challenge.
16:38It looked ill-advised.
16:40Tishmola went down.
16:43Oh, Charlie Wilson-Brat.
16:46Takes down Aaron Tishmola.
16:47Killy have a penalty.
16:51Callum Scott pointing to the spot.
16:55Hugel against O'Hara.
16:57Hugel!
16:58That's a brilliant penalty.
17:00Keeper went the right way, but had no chance.
17:03And is that the moment that Kilmarnock
17:05confirmed themselves as staying
17:07at the Scottish Premiership?
17:12Was very calm.
17:13You exactly where he wanted to put it.
17:16Drilled it low.
17:18Drilled it hard.
17:23Dundee seeking an equaliser
17:25to spoil the Kilmarnock party.
17:29There's a little head flick on.
17:30It's Stryjeck.
17:31Has to touch it behind.
17:36Well, Dundee making life highly uncomfortable
17:38for their host.
17:39There's the little flick from Ryan Ashley.
17:43Well, Neil McCann was brought in to do a job.
17:45And at the moment, that job
17:47is being done.
17:50That's been let go.
17:51There's the chance!
17:53That will confirm it.
17:55Indecision from Dundee at the back.
17:58Kilmarnock are safe.
17:59Kilmarnock can celebrate.
18:02No doubt about it now.
18:05Kilmarnock will be playing
18:06in the Scottish Premiership next term.
18:12That was the ball played through.
18:15The little flick ball on.
18:17And Choyugl simply couldn't miss.
18:20Indecisive at the back.
18:21McKenzie played it in.
18:23And Choyugl nets a double
18:24for Kilmarnock.
18:26What a night he's had.
18:28He just loves playing on this ground.
18:30And that secures safety.
18:36High drama at the bottom end of the table.
18:39Marvin, let's start with St Mirren.
18:41It was a brilliant performance
18:42tonight from them,
18:43but just not enough agonisingly
18:45for them to avoid the playoffs.
18:47Yeah, it'd be highly frustrating for them.
18:48I thought their performance
18:49was very good today.
18:50It looked more like the old St Mirren.
18:51I know Craig's been, you know,
18:53had pats on the back
18:54for the way they've been playing,
18:55keeping the ball and moving side to side.
18:56But they're a lot more direct today,
18:58getting up to Mandron at the top end.
18:59And again, a lot of energy
19:00in terms of their performance as well.
19:02Yeah, the energy thing was key
19:03after last week.
19:04It was so disappointing.
19:05Richard King,
19:07got the first goal.
19:08It was a very well-worked free kick
19:09from St Mirren, wasn't it?
19:10Yeah, honestly,
19:11really, really well worked.
19:13You know, you see the free kick here.
19:15I think it's a soft one.
19:16I think that would be the frustration
19:17from Aberdeen's point of view.
19:18I don't really see where the free kick comes,
19:20but ultimately the referee gives it.
19:22And St Mirren have, you know,
19:24worked this really, really well.
19:25First and foremost,
19:26the ball down the side.
19:27Devaney's first touch is fantastic.
19:29And he puts the ball in there,
19:30Tomo, where no defender wants to touch it.
19:31They've got four Aberdeen defenders
19:33within there.
19:33It's in the six-yard box
19:34and in that corridor.
19:36But if you look here,
19:36Nicky Devlin's overloaded massively
19:38at the back post.
19:38I don't think he even knows
19:39King's behind him.
19:40King does well to stay on side,
19:42and it's a really, really good finish
19:43from a tight angle.
19:43But, listen,
19:44the first touch here is fantastic.
19:46And then the ball that he puts in,
19:48you know,
19:48it's just asking if he put in.
19:49His body shape wasn't set up
19:49to be able to whip the ball
19:51like he does
19:51to get that kind of pace and angle on it.
19:53It's a superb cross.
19:54And, you know,
19:55I think everybody's seen
19:56through the course of the season
19:58playing that type of free kick.
19:59You've probably managed against it
20:00where they play the deeper one
20:02and go and try and win the header.
20:03So it was inventive.
20:04Yeah, they're constantly trying
20:05to change the angle of it.
20:06And that's what they've done there.
20:07Again, it takes, you know,
20:08the first touch,
20:08the ball in there.
20:09He doesn't have to look in there.
20:10He's just put into a dangerous area.
20:11Whether it's a St Mirro player
20:12that gets onto it
20:13or an Aberdeen player,
20:14he knows the ball's going to end up
20:15in the back of the net.
20:16Yeah, Aberdeen came back into it
20:17in the second half,
20:18made some changes,
20:19were really threatening to St Mirren.
20:21But then it was St Mirren
20:22that got the second goal,
20:23Killian Phillips.
20:23And a lot of soft free kick
20:24here in the build-up.
20:25Oh, a very soft free kick.
20:27Again, I don't know where it comes.
20:28Mandron's in there.
20:29He holds, he falls down.
20:30I don't think it's for that one.
20:31I think it's for the tackle.
20:32And I think it's Phillips in there.
20:33And you see the Aberdeen players' reaction.
20:35They're really disappointed
20:40to step up and do what he does there.
20:42Delicate, isn't it?
20:43Yeah, but you have to praise the referee here
20:44because O'Hara gets taken out there
20:46and it should have been a free kick.
20:47But again, let's play go on.
20:48Mandron puts a fantastic ball in
20:50and Phillips is the first to react.
20:52So, listen, St Mirren will be very, very happy
20:54with both of their goals today.
20:55You know, they didn't give anything up.
20:56We spoke about their energy.
20:57But this, again, a fantastic ball
20:59into a real dangerous area.
21:00And Phillips reacts first
21:01and puts it into the back of the net.
21:03You saw with his celebration
21:04that he really, really enjoyed that one.
21:05Yeah, they did.
21:06I mean, it was a much improved performance
21:08from the weekend.
21:09And they are now in the playoffs.
21:12They need to bring that same energy.
21:13And the good thing for them is
21:15they're going into the playoffs now
21:17with that victory behind them
21:18because they had been in such a poor run
21:20without scoring, losing four in a row.
21:22It should give them the boost they need
21:24when these playoff games come around.
21:26Demfermline obviously playing against Partick tonight.
21:28It was one-all,
21:28but they're one of those who they face
21:30the second legs on Friday.
21:31Yeah, I think Craig needed that boost as well.
21:33As I said, I think he came in
21:34for a lot of flack from people
21:35after the Kilmarnock game.
21:37And his players responded today,
21:38but so did he as a manager
21:39because he changed his approach to it
21:40so they're a little bit more direct.
21:42I think now on Sunday
21:42he can rest some players
21:43because ultimately now the playoff games
21:45are the two important ones for them.
21:47And they know where they stand within that.
21:48And, you know, you have to go
21:49and win those two games.
21:50It's as simple as that.
21:51Yeah, that is a fact.
21:52Let's talk about Kilmarnock now.
21:53I mean, since Neil and Billy have come in,
21:56they've done a great job,
21:57but three wins in a row
21:58at this point in the season
22:01when it is so significant,
22:02these post-split fixtures
22:04to get those three wins in a row
22:06has been immense
22:07from the management team
22:08and the players.
22:10Yeah, Neil McCann and his management team
22:11deserve huge credit
22:12because first and foremost
22:13in the January window
22:13they brought in two players
22:14at the top end
22:15in Hugel and Curtis
22:16who made them better,
22:17made the starting XI better,
22:18not the squad,
22:18the starting XI.
22:19And those two have been instrumental
22:20to the run that they have gone on
22:22to make themselves safe.
22:23And, yeah, listen,
22:24to win three games post-split,
22:25you know, that's what
22:26you've been asking those players for.
22:27I think they'll try and continue
22:28with that now
22:28if they go into a Livingston game
22:29and they want to end the season
22:30on a high.
22:31But, yeah, listen,
22:31Neil McCann took them
22:32in a real difficult position.
22:33He's got them out there.
22:34So, again, massive pats
22:35on the back to him and the staff.
22:36Yeah, as much as it annoys me to say.
22:38Well done.
22:38Well done, Neil.
22:40Tom Rowley got the goal,
22:42the first goal
22:42just after the hour.
22:43This is an exceptional finish.
22:45Oh, brilliant.
22:46Brilliant, brilliant finish.
22:47And, again, Neil will watch this
22:48and be delighted with the goal
22:49from their point of view.
22:51Again, Lowry picks the ball up
22:53in a wide area.
22:54He plays it wide.
22:55He just pulls it here.
22:56Jones from Dundee
22:57is in a real good position here
22:57because he's inside,
22:58he's goal side.
22:59He just switches off.
23:00Now, I don't think that's meant
23:01to be pulled back to him,
23:02but, listen,
23:02take nothing away from that finish.
23:04As it comes back to Lowry,
23:05he's only got one thing in his mind.
23:07And, listen,
23:07you can have two goalkeepers
23:08in the goal there.
23:08You're not saving that.
23:09It's a fantastic strike.
23:11The technique's absolutely brilliant.
23:13And it's right in the top corner.
23:14He couldn't have caught it
23:14any swear, could he?
23:15I mean, it's one of those
23:16where potentially it could go anywhere
23:18because, you know,
23:18when you're catching it,
23:19you're just coming on
23:19and absolutely snapshotting it.
23:21But, I mean,
23:22absolutely magnificent finish from
23:24and that gave Kelly the lead,
23:25obviously.
23:26Probably what they weren't expecting
23:27was for Dundee
23:29to come back into the game
23:30and it was Charlie Riley
23:31on as a substitute.
23:33We want to give him this goal.
23:34It's gone down as an OG.
23:35No, I want to give him this goal.
23:36You don't.
23:37You don't.
23:37Well, the one angle from behind
23:40shows that it is going wide,
23:41but because of the quality of the strike,
23:43it shouldn't have been an OG, this.
23:45Yeah, the build-up play is brilliant.
23:47And, you know,
23:47this little bit of composure here
23:48to put it back into
23:49where it's not the best ball,
23:50has a really, really good first touch.
23:52And, listen,
23:52you do see it from that angle.
23:54It definitely comes off Lowry.
23:55We were praising him
23:55for his goal at the other end
23:56and now he's got an OG
23:57to his name as well.
23:58And maxing goals
23:59left with no chance.
24:00But, like I said,
24:01Dundee made eight changes
24:02for this game.
24:03You know, they were safe
24:03because they did their business
24:04against Livingston
24:05in the last game.
24:06He didn't really get
24:07the reaction out of the players
24:07that he probably wanted
24:08when giving them a chance.
24:09And, you know,
24:10he brought Riley off the bench.
24:11And, listen, at first,
24:12as I said,
24:12I thought that was his goal.
24:14I thought it was a fantastic strike.
24:15But you do see it takes
24:16a huge deflection
24:17and ends up in the back of the net
24:18to make it 1-1.
24:19Yeah, and at this stage,
24:20you know,
24:21St Northern fans were listening
24:22and at Pertorje
24:23hoping that it would end that way.
24:26But ultimately,
24:27Kelly get a penalty kick,
24:28young Charlie Austin.
24:29But a judge to have filled Tispoiler.
24:33You think it's soft.
24:34I'd probably agree with you.
24:35Yeah, listen,
24:35I think Tispoiler's
24:36really, really experienced here.
24:38And the young man's
24:39obviously been inexperienced.
24:40He comes over his shoulder
24:41and he just swings.
24:43He thinks he's got time to do it.
24:44I think it's extremely soft.
24:45I'm not sure how much contact
24:46is actually there.
24:47From Tispoiler's point of view,
24:48he just wants to get to the ball first
24:49and then he throws himself
24:50to the ground
24:50to give the referee
24:51a decision to make.
24:52And that's one of the guys
24:53I was talking about
24:53coming in the January window
24:54in Hugo.
24:55And it's a fantastic penalty.
24:56Keeper goes the right way,
24:57but he can't get to it.
24:59You know,
25:00he tucks that away
25:00and it takes the nerves away
25:01from Kilmarnock as well
25:02because they would have been aware
25:03of what was going on
25:03in the St Mirren game
25:04at that point.
25:05Not sure about the knee slide
25:05and the AstroTurf though.
25:06No, it's not advisable.
25:08Definitely not.
25:08Finley Curtis again,
25:09excellent tonight.
25:10Probably should have scored a couple
25:11and could have had a hat-trick.
25:13For you,
25:13should he be in the plane
25:15to go to the Scotland squad?
25:16Definitely.
25:17I think, you know,
25:17he's a young man
25:18who's gone on loan
25:19and he's taken it with both hands,
25:20taken that opportunity.
25:21Very, very direct
25:22in everything he does.
25:23Very positive.
25:24He gets the fans up.
25:25He excites everyone.
25:26You know,
25:26his teammates want to give him
25:27the ball in the final third
25:28because he's either great
25:28or, you know,
25:29he's going to get his own shot away.
25:30For me,
25:31I think he's going to need
25:32that sort of player
25:32to go to the World Cup.
25:34And for Kilmarnock
25:35as a club,
25:36you know,
25:36staying in the top divisions
25:38obviously massive.
25:39They're going to lay the grass pitch,
25:41get rid of the old AstroTurf.
25:42It is looking a bit warm these days.
25:43Yeah, very old AstroTurf.
25:43The new training grounds
25:44nearly ready.
25:46It's a great time
25:47for the club moving forward.
25:48There should be a lot of positivity
25:49going into next season for them.
25:51Yeah,
25:51the club going in the right direction.
25:52But, you know,
25:53all of those things
25:53you've spoken about
25:54aren't important
25:54if Neil McCann
25:55doesn't do his job
25:55in terms of the team
25:56on the pitch
25:57and keeping them up.
25:58And he's done that.
26:01It's up to the board
26:01and everybody else
26:02to get the rest of the stuff sorted.
26:04And Neil can start now
26:05planning for next season as well.
26:06The players that he wants to bring in,
26:07you're going to lose Finlay Curtis.
26:08There's no doubt about it.
26:09So they need to find somebody else
26:10in that final third
26:11that can light it up for them.
26:12And he'll be looking at the top six.
26:13I know he's a very ambitious manager.
26:15You've worked with him enough
26:16and you've probably played him
26:17as well.
26:17You're the same age.
26:19So, yeah,
26:20listen,
26:20he'll be looking at next season now
26:21and what he can do
26:22with Kilmarnock
26:22and can he get him close
26:23to that top six?
26:25OK,
26:25we can now hear post-match reaction
26:27from both those games.
26:30Neil,
26:31what a night.
26:32You've ensured
26:33that your team
26:34is staying in the Premiership.
26:35How does it feel?
26:36It feels brilliant.
26:37I have to say
26:38when we come in here
26:39it did look pretty bleak
26:40but I have to compliment
26:43all the staff first of all
26:45behind the scenes
26:45who work really hard
26:46every day of the week
26:48to try and give the boys
26:49all the information they need
26:50to go and perform.
26:52And of course,
26:53thank the boys.
26:55It's a big night tonight.
26:56Big night Saturday.
26:57Our afternoon on Saturday
26:58we came through that
26:59and then Dundee
27:00asked us some questions
27:01particularly when
27:02it went 1-1.
27:04But I just felt
27:05we would do something.
27:07And it's a special evening
27:07that the club know
27:08that they're in the Premiership
27:09next year.
27:10We'll start making marks
27:11after the Livingston game
27:13to make sure
27:14we start the season well.
27:15But no,
27:16we come in,
27:17Billy and I
27:17come into the club
27:18to do our job
27:19and keep us in the Premiership
27:21and I'm delighted
27:21that tonight
27:22we'll manage to do that.
27:23I've had massive belief
27:25in the group
27:25since day one
27:26and it has been.
27:27It's been a difficult task
27:30with just the injuries
27:31and things
27:32we've faced as well.
27:33When I took over the group
27:35we had won
27:35one league game in 13.
27:37We've won four games
27:38since Christmas
27:38and I've been in charge
27:40of three of them.
27:41So I know that it's in there
27:42within the group.
27:43I know that
27:43I've made improvements
27:45to the group as well.
27:47I'm delighted for them
27:48tonight
27:48and we have to just
27:49keep that going
27:50into the next few games.
27:52I think there's
27:54six boys
27:54that started
27:55in the cup final
27:56who I don't have
27:57who aren't available to me.
27:59So it's going to be
28:01a group effort.
28:01We need everyone
28:02to keep sticking together.
28:03The first half performance
28:04isn't acceptable.
28:05It was one team
28:07fighting for their lives
28:08and we looked like
28:10we turned up
28:11without any intensity
28:12or any drive
28:14and then there was
28:15a reaction at halftime
28:16and we got 20 minutes,
28:1825 minutes
28:18but a lesson
28:20that you cannot do that
28:21and it confirms
28:24the size of the task
28:25we've got going forward.
28:26I was never in any doubt
28:28for that.
28:29We've shown resilience,
28:30we've shown that we have
28:31got the results we needed
28:32but also tonight
28:33we showed why we are
28:35in the position
28:35we have been all season.
28:37I asked for a certain
28:38type of performance.
28:39I thought we got
28:40great intensity,
28:41great energy in the team
28:42and a really good attitude
28:44towards the game
28:46against a fully charged
28:49Kilmarnock side
28:49and at 1-1
28:50we hoped we could
28:51go on and win the game
28:52but credit to Kilmarnock
28:54responded in fine manner
28:56but there was a lot
28:57to take from the game.
28:58You know,
28:59we played a number
29:01of players
29:01that will be,
29:04will feel,
29:05shall I say,
29:06that probably
29:07they've deserved
29:08more minutes this year
29:09and understandably so
29:11but I thought
29:11their attitude
29:12and the way
29:12they applied themselves
29:14tonight was terrific.
29:15Billy and I
29:15came into this job
29:17he had the same position
29:18as I did
29:18in the media.
29:19No,
29:20we really enjoyed
29:20the media side
29:21but if you're a football man
29:22nothing beats being
29:23at the coalface
29:24and if you can't play
29:25the next best thing
29:26is to be a coach
29:26or a manager
29:28and then
29:29you find yourself
29:30a wee bit of fortune
29:31to be given
29:32a brilliant job
29:32like Billy
29:34has given me here
29:35and they've backed me
29:36and they've backed me
29:37so much
29:39just to leave me alone
29:40and get on with work
29:41help me strengthen the side
29:42and hopefully
29:43they're going to enjoy
29:44their night tonight
29:45because they put so much
29:46into the club
29:46there's so many people
29:47behind the scenes
29:47it works so hard
29:49and we're just so pleased
29:50that we came through
29:51on the job.
29:52Now,
29:53there's no such thing
29:54as a meaningless game
29:55or is there?
29:56Let's find out
29:57at Tannadies.
30:00Dundee United
30:01head into this
30:01looking to secure
30:02seventh
30:03but Jim Goodwin
30:04has called recent
30:05performances unacceptable
30:06Scott Arfield
30:07meanwhile
30:08just wants his team
30:09to have fun
30:09having already
30:10been relegated.
30:12Bert Esselink
30:13and Sam Cleal Harding
30:14come into a back three
30:15for United
30:15with Esselink
30:16making a first start
30:17since January
30:18Pan Kamara is in midfield
30:19with Zaks
30:20Apsford up top
30:21alongside Johnny Russell
30:23Livingston
30:24make four changes
30:24of their own
30:25with Christian Montagno
30:26Emmanuel Danso
30:27Stevie May
30:28and Robbie Muirhead
30:28all given starts
30:29after the 3-0 thrashing
30:31from Dundee
30:32on Saturday.
30:39Lewis Smith
30:39on the turn
30:40gets away
30:41from Pan Kamara
30:42trying to find
30:43Stevie May
30:44but Sam Cleal Harding
30:45cuts out
30:47I think the United
30:48fans are quite happy
30:48to see the youngster
30:49given a chance
30:50towards the end
30:50of the season
30:54Danso
30:54picking up the ball
30:56playing it over the top
30:57to find Stevie May
30:57it's a lovely ball
30:58and May hits it
30:59and it's off the post
31:00brilliant effort
31:02from the Livingston
31:03veteran
31:03it comes back in
31:04for Kamikare
31:05and it's blocked
31:06at close range
31:08United trying
31:09to break away
31:11well that was
31:12almost a fine goal
31:13for Livingston
31:14Stevie May
31:15took that really well
31:16brilliant ball to him
31:17from Emmanuel Danso
31:19well on side
31:20lovely touch
31:22to control it
31:23and a decent effort
31:24as well
31:29Stevie May
31:30again
31:30he's not really
31:31closed down here
31:32he goes for the shot
31:33and Dave Richards
31:34has to make the save
31:36can't have been easy
31:37the sun
31:39almost in his eyes
31:40but it's just
31:40gone away there
31:41might have had a
31:42better view
31:43of that shot
31:44from range
31:50Macaulay Tate
31:50trying to nod it
31:51back into an area
31:53Kabungalow
31:53on the turn
31:54hits it
31:54and it's just wide
31:56and Livingston
31:57appealing for a corner
31:58and they'll get it
31:59as well
31:59Dave Richards
32:00must have got a touch
32:01to that
32:03of course
32:03Kabungalow scored
32:04that fine strike
32:05against Rangers
32:06earlier in the season
32:08he can certainly
32:09find the back of the net
32:10and he did well there
32:15Danso won the turn
32:16Livingston haven't won
32:17their final away game
32:18in the last 10
32:18top flight seasons
32:19going all the way
32:20back to 2002
32:21I don't really know
32:22what that stat tells you
32:24but they're having
32:25to defend here
32:25in fact
32:26Ferrucci
32:26could be right through
32:27brilliant
32:28saves Jerome Priorek
32:31big stop
32:31big stop
32:32from the Frenchman
32:33looked like
32:34Neil Ferrucci
32:35would score there
32:35brilliant ball through
32:36from Johnny Russell
32:37one-on-one really
32:39Priorek waited
32:40and waited
32:40to make the save
32:45corner
32:45whipped to the back
32:46post
32:47Finlayson's there
32:47and there's Montano
32:49but the flag is up
32:51quickly
32:51to deny
32:53Christian Montano
32:53and Livingston
32:55he wags his finger
32:57he doesn't think
32:57that was offside
33:00what will the replay
33:01show us
33:03oh that's really
33:05really tight
33:07is that offside
33:08Christian Montano
33:09or is Bert Esselink
33:11playing him on
33:13it's been a lengthy
33:14VAR intervention
33:15in here
33:17and Grant Irving
33:18gives the offside
33:20I must admit
33:21I thought that goal
33:21would stand
33:23not much in that
33:24at all
33:30launched forward
33:31by Priorek
33:33that's not the best
33:34from Vichko Chivet
33:35in fact he might have
33:36played Robbie Muirhead
33:37in here
33:38he slides for the ball
33:39play goes on
33:41Scott Pittman
33:42working it back to
33:43Montano
33:44it's blocked
33:44Montano still
33:46does he have an option
33:47in the middle
33:48headed away
33:49it might drop
33:49for Muirhead
33:50oh it's just over the bar
33:53comical defending
33:54at times
33:55from Dundee United
33:56there
33:56the home fans
33:57not happy
33:59and Robbie Muirhead
34:01a former player
34:02in this parish
34:03hangs his head
34:04he knows that was
34:04a great chance
34:05to open the scoring
34:07against his former
34:08employers
34:10Montano
34:10with a couple bites
34:11at the cherry
34:12and he did well
34:13to set up the chance
34:14Muirhead
34:14you'd normally
34:15back him from there
34:23Montano
34:23looking up the line
34:24for Stevie May
34:25the two veterans
34:26combining
34:27Stevie May
34:28on the tear here
34:29and he's away
34:30from a couple challenges
34:31and he fires
34:33just wide
34:35so close
34:36Stevie May
34:38he's been
34:39Livingston's biggest
34:40threat this evening
34:42and just no one
34:43came to close him down
34:44invited to take
34:45the shot on
34:46and it's a whisker
34:47away
34:48a little bit colder
34:52now the sun's gone
34:52down on
34:53Tayside
34:55Jim Goodwin
34:58not feeling the heat
35:00as Macaulay Tate
35:01brings it forward
35:02Stevie May
35:04crosses to the back post
35:05it's a good pick out
35:06it comes all the way
35:07across
35:07and Bert Esselink
35:09was rather calm
35:10about letting that
35:10go by
35:12if that had taken
35:13a touch
35:13who knows where
35:14it would have ended up
35:16Dave Richards
35:17watching that
35:17just past his post
35:20and yet again
35:20it's Livingston
35:21who continue to threaten
35:22Cammy Kerr
35:24with the header
35:27long long ball
35:28and Owen Sturton
35:29causing havoc
35:31Dolchek
35:31another sub
35:32gets it back to
35:34the teenage Sturton
35:37he's all legs
35:38as Sturton gets the
35:39shot off
35:40and it goes through
35:40the feet of
35:42Danny Finlayson
35:42but straight at
35:43Jerome Priot
35:46Sturton another
35:47that the United fans
35:48were clamouring to see
35:51might be
35:51the case for the future
35:53couldn't find the back
35:58of the net
35:58Esselink starting
35:59for the first time
36:00since January
36:01and they lost that
36:02Dundee Derby
36:03who was hooked
36:04at half time
36:04and his ball
36:05didn't help
36:05Sam Cleelharding
36:06Dundee United
36:07defending here
36:08and Joshua Zimmerman
36:10has gone down
36:11and Livingston
36:11have the penalty
36:13and it's Sam Cleelharding
36:15he made that mistake
36:16against Kilmarnock
36:19and he might have
36:20made another mistake
36:21here at Tanadice
36:23while Stephen McLean
36:24the VAR
36:25is getting involved
36:28let's have another look
36:29well there's not much
36:30contact there
36:31Joshua Zimmerman
36:32rather throws himself
36:33down and Grant Irvin
36:35is coming across
36:35to the screen
36:36Sam Cleelharding
36:38might get out of jail
36:39here
36:41Zimmerman
36:42anticipating the contact
36:44to put it diplomatically
36:46and Grant Irvin
36:47will chuck this one off
36:50and he will book
36:51Joshua Zimmerman
36:52for simulation
36:53as well
36:54and that is a good
36:55decision
36:56and a good intervention
36:57from the VAR
36:58you have to say
37:02Zimmerman pleading
37:03his innocence
37:05but from the reverse
37:06angle you could see
37:07that was clearly
37:08a dive
37:11the full-time whistle
37:12a goalless draw
37:13that won't really
37:14please anyone
37:15at Tanadice
37:15but they have
37:16secured seventh
37:17the best of the rest
37:18in a season
37:19they'll want to forget
37:20it finishes
37:21Dundee United
37:21nil
37:22Livingston nil
37:25tonight
37:26you know
37:27pleased to keep
37:28the clean sheet
37:28albeit I think
37:29we made hard work
37:30of it at times
37:31rode our luck
37:32in the first half
37:33Livingston obviously
37:34hitting the post
37:34we had a good chance
37:35ourselves
37:36with Neil Ferrugia
37:38on the break
37:39you know
37:39unlucky not to lift
37:40it over the goalkeeper
37:41can't have too many
37:43arguments about
37:43the end result
37:45the draw is probably
37:46fair
37:47you know
37:47either team
37:48could have just
37:49about shaded it
37:49but you know
37:51the positives for us
37:52are
37:53the clean sheet
37:53after
37:54our most recent
37:55two poor performances
37:57where we conceded
37:57lots of sloppy goals
37:59I thought we were
38:00brilliant
38:00Maisel hits the
38:02post in the first half
38:03he has another
38:03shot inside the box
38:05we have a penalty
38:07disallowed
38:08we have a goal
38:09rolled out
38:10for offside
38:10so
38:11in terms of
38:12dominating the game
38:12that's all I wanted
38:14for myself
38:15and the staff
38:15just wanted to play
38:16a set of football
38:18and basically
38:19press them in
38:20as soon as we attack
38:21I wanted the back four
38:22to get up
38:22there were so many
38:23times in the first
38:24and second half
38:24that we completely
38:25dominated the game
38:26so really really
38:27proud
38:290-0 but actually
38:30a really entertaining
38:31and open game
38:32Marvin
38:33Levy thought they'd
38:34scored first half
38:34Montano ruled
38:35offside
38:36this is mega close
38:37really close
38:38so hard to see
38:39yeah it was super
38:40yeah it was super
38:40tight
38:40you know
38:41Dan Finlayson
38:42gets up first
38:42and foremost
38:43and wins the first
38:44header
38:44and then Christian's
38:45alive in the box
38:46and puts it in the
38:46back of the net
38:47and I don't think
38:48anyone was too sure
38:49again Christian's
38:50reaction is saying
38:51no way
38:51he's not one I
38:52would believe
38:53constantly in training
38:54he would appeal for
38:55stuff to him that
38:55wasn't for him
38:56but again you see it
38:56there
38:56it's so tight
38:58and listen
38:58the assistant referees
39:00they get a lot of
39:00stick and he's
39:01obviously got that
39:01one right
39:02because when the
39:02lines are drawn on
39:03as we see here
39:03he is offside
39:04so it's a fantastic
39:05call from him
39:05but yeah
39:06ever so tight
39:07from Livingston's
39:07point of view
39:08Levy were probably
39:08the better team
39:09in the first half
39:09in terms of
39:10opportunities
39:10let's take a look
39:12at a few of them
39:12they had numerous
39:13but just couldn't
39:14quite get the ball
39:15in the back of the net
39:15has that been
39:16something a feature
39:17for you through the
39:17season or not
39:18really
39:19at times I think
39:20the boys in the
39:21final third have
39:21been really really
39:22good obviously
39:22he always want to
39:23score more goals
39:23Steve May is really
39:24unlucky there
39:25he plays it inside
39:25and Danzo then
39:26plays him and he
39:27gets a shot away
39:27that hits the post
39:28Steve May was
39:29brilliant today
39:29again another strike
39:31from him coming inside
39:31strikes a wonderful
39:33ball
39:34so there was a lot
39:35of chances for them
39:36big Brooklyn's up
39:37there and he
39:37probably should get
39:38himself back because
39:39he's not hit the
39:39target with it
39:40but again this is
39:41Robin Muirhead all
39:42over he doesn't
39:42give things up
39:43he ends up sliding
39:44in here he doesn't
39:45end up getting the
39:45first shot away but
39:46he's alert enough to
39:47lay it to Christian
39:48he then puts Scott
39:49Pittman in and it
39:50becomes a Dundee
39:51night do ever so
39:52well to make sure
39:52they're blocking
39:53things and then
39:54comes into the box
39:55they head it away
39:56and you see Robin
39:57Muirhead here great
39:57first touch and again
39:58Dundee night defending
40:00for their lives that's
40:00a team that's 7th by
40:01the way they're not
40:02really fighting for
40:02anything but again you
40:04see Steve May cut
40:05inside and probably
40:06could have played to
40:06his right hand side
40:07he's been unlucky
40:08today actually Steve
40:09you may not have
40:09scored hasn't he
40:09yeah he's rolled
40:10the years back hasn't
40:11he's looked really
40:12really good today but
40:13yeah Livingston and
40:14by the way you know
40:15Dundee night played
40:15their part within this
40:16game they had a few
40:17opportunities as well
40:18that's what I was
40:19saying it was an
40:20entertaining open game
40:21yeah two teams
40:22yeah well two teams
40:23probably you know
40:24nothing really to play
40:25for at this moment in
40:26time the shackles were
40:26off for both of them
40:27and both attacked it
40:28was really end to end
40:29I enjoyed it
40:30penalty given by the
40:30referee in the second
40:31half and questioned by
40:34VAR and rightly so
40:35yeah listen again I
40:36think the referee is
40:37very very close to this
40:39Josh Zimmerman cuts
40:40inside and just throws
40:41himself to the floor
40:42there isn't any contact
40:43and again you know
40:44Dundee United players
40:45know straight away
40:45that it's not going to
40:46be given again the
40:47referee is probably two
40:48or three yards away
40:48whistle straight to the
40:49mouth and gives it but
40:50this is why we have
40:51VAR you know it does get
40:52a lot of criticism but
40:53this is when it works
40:54yeah exactly it's fantastic
40:55here sends him over to
40:56the screen he has a
40:57couple of looks at it
40:57but you see from this
40:58angle here there is no
40:59contact Josh is trying
41:00to you know make the
41:02contact it doesn't
41:03actually happen the
41:03referee goes across
41:04and gets a correct
41:05decision in the end
41:05very quickly
41:06now you've had a bit
41:07of time to reflect
41:09after leaving
41:10Lovingston how do you
41:11look back on it has it
41:12left of a bad taste in
41:14your mouth
41:14no I really really
41:15enjoyed it you know
41:16ultimately the boys
41:17were absolutely fantastic
41:18for me the way I left
41:19I was disappointed
41:20you know obviously you
41:21know being told before
41:22we took the job that
41:22we would have next
41:23season as well and
41:24then those goalposts
41:24would move on on the
41:25Monday after the
41:26Aberdeen game and for
41:27me it felt morally
41:27wrong myself and Neil
41:28Hastings we had a chat
41:29and we said you know
41:30that that would be us
41:31because ultimately when
41:32promises start to be
41:33broken it becomes
41:34really really difficult
41:34but in terms of my
41:35period there as I said
41:37the lads were absolutely
41:37fantastic from the
41:38first day to the last
41:39I can't thank them
41:40more I thank the club
41:41as well for the
41:42opportunity you know
41:42someone I've been
41:43affiliated with a club
41:43for a long long time
41:44in various different roles
41:45so yeah listen it's
41:46disappointing the way it
41:47did end but again you
41:48know that experience for me
41:49was fantastic
41:50what's next for you then
41:51what are you going to do
41:51we want to get back in
41:53you know as soon as we
41:53possibly can myself and
41:54Neil so yeah we're
41:56looking at opportunities
41:56that are coming up up
41:58here and also down the
41:59road and and that's the
42:00aim you know can we get
42:01ourselves back in as
42:01soon as possible I think
42:02we've done well enough
42:02in Livingston in terms
42:04of the 11 games we had
42:05you know to turn around
42:06to the previous 11 games
42:07before we did go in
42:08so yeah you know I
42:09think we've done well
42:10enough to get another
42:11opportunity and then you
42:12know all the hard work
42:13starts again
42:14fingers crossed and for
42:15Livingston as a club
42:16where do they go now in
42:17terms of appointing a new
42:18manager what sort of
42:20manager do you think
42:20they go after experienced
42:21or what do you think
42:23I think with the
42:24current setup it's going
42:25to be a coach that goes
42:26in a head coach that
42:27goes in ultimately I
42:28think the club and the
42:30sporting director now
42:30want to make all the
42:31signings and you know
42:33decide on the formation
42:34and stuff so it's just a
42:35coach that will go in
42:36there and coach the
42:37player so I don't think
42:38it'll be anyone
42:38experienced but yeah I
42:40think you know they'll
42:41look to appoint someone
42:41very quickly
42:42okay let's have a wee look
42:44at the table
42:47just the bottom six to deal
42:48with tonight Dundee United
42:49remain in seventh on 44
42:51Aberdeen eighth tonight a
42:53point ahead of Dundee on 39
42:55Kelly 10th and 37th St Mirren
42:57head into the playoffs and
42:58Livia's we well know are
43:00bottom what's coming up for
43:01you to enjoy well let's take
43:03a look
43:06sports sound tomorrow from
43:07six three massive games
43:09heights of that will follow
43:10with Jonathan at 10.40 on
43:11BBC One
43:12icons of football this week
43:14it is Gary McAllister

43:19Unfermland Friday 7.30
43:20second leg what a game that
43:21is going to be and that is
43:23us for tonight thank you to
43:24Marvin for joining me all
43:26eyes on tomorrow good night
43:59I'll see you next time
