01:01Well, that looks like a big shock for a penalty.
01:05It's decision time.
01:07No penalty.
01:09Is it a point closer to the title?
01:12So, it's your Mithi, away from Trusty, it's Muar, it's 1-0 Rangers.
01:21Oh, it's a lovely reverse for Engels, it's Yang.
01:25All square again.
01:27It's clipped over the top for Kieran Tierney.
01:30Across and Midas they are.
01:32And this time he does score.
01:34A massive goal.
01:37Here's Denechti.
01:39It's only half away.
01:40It's Midas.
01:41It's genius.
01:45What a goal that is.
01:49Huge victory for O'Neal.
01:51And they're back to winning a point of hearts.
01:57After a thunderous weekend, a potentially historic Wednesday,
02:02Heart of Midlothian would be crowned champions for the first time in 66 years
02:07if they could beat Falkirk and Celtic lost at Motherwell.
02:11With us tonight, former captains of both Celtic and Hearts,
02:14Scott Brown and Michael Stewart.
02:17As the story unfolds, we will switch between the grounds.
02:20But we start at a rocking Tyne Castle.
02:23Commentary comes from Alistair Lamont.
02:26If this doesn't stir the emotions and get the adrenaline pumping,
02:31nothing will.
02:32The stage is set for a potentially historic night at Tyne Castle.
02:37Hearts on the brink of ending a 66-year wait
02:41for the top-flight title.
02:43A 41-year wait for a non-0 firm team to win it.
02:46Gorgie could be about to witness the party to end all parties.
03:13Hearts have lost Craig Halkett and Mark Leonard to long-term injuries
03:18and also dropped Kingsley and Altena.
03:20The good news is that Harry Mellon is back after six games out
03:23and Cammy Devlin is fit to start.
03:26Also coming in are Frankie Kent and Alexandros Kisiridis.
03:30Falkirk will be keen not to be bit-part players tonight.
03:33They make four changes from the defeat by Hibbs
03:35with first-choice central defenders Cole Donaldson
03:38and Liam Henderson starting.
03:40Sam Hearts starts for the first time since December's defeat by Hearts
03:44and Ben Brozio off the bench to get a consolation against Hibbs
03:48and Ben Brozio off the bench to get a consolation against Hibbs
03:48and Ben Brozio off the bench to get a consolation against Hibbs is also in.
03:51Falkirk's kick-out's not great, Spencer helps it on though.
03:56Falkirk have started this game well.
03:57I think Harry Mellon might have been playing.
03:59Calvin Miller on.
04:00Play continues.
04:01It's Calvin Miller!
04:03Falkirk in front.
04:04Now the flag goes up.
04:06This will be tight.
04:09Harry Mellon was definitely deeper than the rest of his defenders.
04:14Maybe Mellon's just leaning slightly ahead of him.
04:18So we'll certainly hope so.
04:20It's really well finished by Calvin Mellon.
04:28It's all all well beaten.
04:30Yeah, it wasn't a great deal in it.
04:33It's been a three-manager season for Celtic
04:36with troubles on and off the pitch
04:39and so many times their title hopes have been hanging by a thread.
04:44The Martin O'Neill factor means they're very much still in it
04:48with two games to go.
04:50Motherwell have already done damage in the last few weeks
04:53to both Rangers and Hearts.
04:56Motherwell are without their first-choice central defensive pair.
04:59Paul McGinn injured.
05:00Stephen Welsh can't play against Celtic.
05:03And Liam Gordon is left out.
05:04Stephen O'Donnell and Johnny Kutrimbus are the centre-backs.
05:07Tom Sparrow right back.
05:09The third change sees Lucas Fadinga replacing Oscar Priestman.
05:15Sepp Tunechti took over from Luke McCowan at half-time against Rangers on Sunday.
05:20And that's the only change to the Celtic starting line-up for this one at Fur Park.
05:25Dyson Maeda is their man of the moment, setting the pace, setting the tone,
05:29with six goals in his last four games.
05:35Elliot Watt.
05:39Finding Tom Sparrow.
05:44Slattery.
05:46It's been really well controlled, that Sparrow.
05:49In on the half-volley.
05:51An important header by Trusty.
05:53And Watt!
05:54To greystrike by Elliot Watt.
05:59Motherwell go in front.
06:02And throw a big question mark over Celtic's title chances.
06:09They've grown in the game as it's gone on.
06:14And you could sense something was coming for the home team.
06:18Sparrow onside.
06:19That's a brilliant touch to control it.
06:24Left foot on the volley.
06:26I'm talking with question marks.
06:30He would place one against Vilt.
06:31Sinisalo here.
06:33It's swerving.
06:34It's taken a deflection.
06:35He's got gloves to it.
06:37But he couldn't keep it out.
06:40Motherwell won Celtic nil.
06:48He's filtering through to the Titancastle stands.
06:52There's good news for Hearts.
06:54He's still need to take care of business here.
07:03Kizunidis.
07:05A bit of space for him.
07:07Gets a lovely ball back from Braga.
07:10Now it's Shackland!
07:11Hogarth holds onto it.
07:14First real sight of goal for the captain.
07:17Lovely link up between Kizunidis and Braga.
07:20Shackland didn't quite catch the shot.
07:24Kizunidis now with the corner kick.
07:27The good ball's a goal!
07:28Frankie Kent with the Omner.
07:33To set Tynecastle alight.
07:35And potentially to get the title party started.
07:45Elation around the stadium.
07:49An absolute bullet header from Frankie Kent.
07:54Six yards out.
07:57And what a time to get your first goal of the season.
08:01Hasn't been as regular as in previous campaigns.
08:05But Frankie Kent is the man of the moment.
08:09And that could be massive.
08:18The players have just got to concentrate on the job in hand.
08:21As it's flighted in by post.
08:23It comes to Harry Bell!
08:24Oh, what a save!
08:27Or has it just gone straight over?
08:30It's a big chance.
08:33I thought Hogarth got a glove to that initially, but it's just gone straight from the boot of Harry Bell
08:39over the top of the crossbar.
08:46Smittle now.
08:47Braga a lovely turn.
08:49Into Shackland.
08:50Tries to lay it back into Braga.
08:52It might come for Devlin!
08:53Deflection and in!
08:55Hats two up!
08:58It is all going half's way right now!
09:04Now Derek McInnes lets the smile creep onto his face.
09:09In the realisation that maybe, just maybe, this is Hart's moment.
09:16It's another really good move.
09:19And although it seems to break down there,
09:22Cammy Devlin alive to the possibility.
09:24And he just wanted that more than anyone.
09:28And after a period on the sidelines,
09:31Cammy Devlin back to score just a second goal of the season.
09:35And how precious might that one be?
09:44It's good football from Falkirk.
09:46Being accustomed to seeing that this season.
09:49Calvin Miller!
09:51Good stop from Swalov.
09:52Really good effort from Calvin Miller.
09:56And Swalov keeps the two-goal lead intact.
10:08Calvin Miller's corner.
10:11That's not far away.
10:13Maybe should have been a goal from Hart.
10:15He rose well above Finlay, attacking that back post.
10:20Just couldn't divert it.
10:22Goalwards.
10:24He's down as a chance though.
10:31William Scales finding Tunecti and Maeda, and it's wide.
10:39It's as close as Celtic have got so far.
10:43It's been a quiet start for the man who wrote his name all over the Old Firm game on Sunday.
10:52He's going to bustle his way through.
10:55Yang won it.
10:58Tunecti on the move.
11:02Sparrow working back.
11:05It's Yang.
11:07And it breaks for Maeda.
11:10It's 1-1.
11:14And it's a goal Celtic so badly needed.
11:20The news filtering into Fir Park.
11:25The Hearts have gone two goals in front against Falkirk.
11:30Celtic badly needed something to happen.
11:33And it is the man of the moment.
11:36It's a seventh goal in five games for Dyson Maeda.
11:43Touch of good fortune in terms of how the ball came his way.
11:48But it's a really good finish.
11:51As Maeda looks to drag Celtic across the finishing line.
12:02A level pegging at Fir Park.
12:052-0 Hearts at Tyne Castle.
12:08Out comes Callum Ward who falls awkwardly.
12:14The goal bouncing back off the crossbar.
12:18The game is stopped by John Beaton.
12:22With Dyson Maeda flat out on the deck.
12:24Well thankfully both okay.
12:33Dave Linton.
12:35Out to Kiziridis.
12:36His first touch.
12:40Kiziridis stands it up to the back post of the crossbar.
12:48This is exactly what Kiziridis was intending.
12:52He'd certainly have taken it if it ended up in the back of the net.
13:01He'd have to leave some magic.
13:02It's Devlin now.
13:04Shaqland good save.
13:07There's an offside flag up.
13:10An audacious effort from Lauren Shaqland.
13:16Once again, really nice football from Hearts.
13:20Shaqland is offside.
13:21It wouldn't have counted even if Hogarth couldn't have made that good save.
13:29Slattery.
13:33For Eli Just.
13:36Humming in on goal.
13:39And back comes McGregor.
13:41To save Celtic.
13:44Just as the New Zealander was about to pull the trigger.
13:48He wondered if he would take it on there but he jinked his way inside.
13:52He was about to try and place it.
13:56Sparrow cuts inside and leaves room for Slattery and Saeed.
14:04It's a great exchange and it's Callum Slattery who hits the deck.
14:09Did he lose his footing?
14:12Was there any contact?
14:14It was a brilliant exchange which released Slattery.
14:18Did McGregor make contact?
14:21And the answer from here is no.
14:26Celtic hoping they can get themselves in front in the game.
14:30Having trailed by a goal to nil and levelled it in the final few first half minutes.
14:37Negrin seeing a pass.
14:41Yang lays it back.
14:43Negrin!
14:44What a finish!
14:48What would Celtic have done this season without the goals of Benjamin Negrin?
14:54It's 21 for Celtic and this one could be absolutely vital.
15:03Celtic still with the title in their sights.
15:06They know Hearts are ahead against Falkirk.
15:10They need to be winning at Fair Park.
15:13And there's quality written all over this.
15:18The timing of the strike, the placement.
15:22And in a flash it's behind Callum Ward for 2-1 Celtic.
15:32Well, the news from Fair Park is not good for these Hearts fans.
15:39The Celtic have gone in front.
15:43So things finished in the way they currently stand.
15:48Hearts would need to go to Celtic Park and avoid defeat to clinch the title.
15:54Stay focused is the message there from Derek McInnes.
16:01Cesariris away from Yates.
16:06To Kingsley.
16:07First time ball in.
16:09Shacklin's header just wide!
16:15Flags up against them again.
16:17Didn't have counted.
16:19It's a terrific ball in this from Kingsley.
16:22And again, he has just gone a half a yard.
16:25Too early, Lauren Shacklin with the glancing header wide.
16:30Spencer, flicked on, chance for Falkirk.
16:34Really big chance.
16:36Offside flags up.
16:41Spencers ball in.
16:42I'm not sure that is offside.
16:45It might have been post-checked by VAR.
16:52Sparrow, great feet.
16:54Got himself into a great position.
16:58Elliott Watts.
17:00Oh, it's back off the crossbar!
17:03And Matsuanise denied on the rebound.
17:07What a moment.
17:09All about fractions here.
17:11The big deflection of Hitate's head.
17:14Back off the crossbar.
17:18Motherwell looking for a way through.
17:21It's Regan Charles Kirk who leaves it to Just.
17:24On his right foot, great shot, great save.
17:27How big could that be from Bill Sunisalo?
17:35Just floats it in.
17:37Surrachi heads it away.
17:39Elliott Watt does so well.
17:42Maeda can't intercept.
17:46What's crossbar in.
17:48Cleared only as far as Matsuanise.
17:50Gets a second chance.
17:52Saved by Sinisalo.
17:55They're snapping up the chance.
17:58The unlikely hero for Motherwell is Liam Gordon.
18:02It's two goals each.
18:05And what happens now for Celtic's title chances?
18:11This looks like a mortal blow.
18:15Is there time enough for Martin O'Neill and his team to recover?
18:20We've not much more than five minutes to go.
18:23And you would have to say the equaliser has been coming.
18:27Motherwell will have been threatening.
18:30Matsuanise's shot blocked by Scales.
18:33Sinisalo saved his follow-up effort.
18:39Well, that would suggest there has been some further goal activity at Burr Park.
18:46And the Mats fans have just had a huge lift.
18:50They continue to believe that this is their season.
18:57There's been a good impact off the bench in recent games.
19:01Not like he was going to get a free kick there, but he's got the ball back to Spittel instead.
19:05Spittel goes for a goal!
19:07That could be absolutely huge!
19:10It really could!
19:12Blair Spittel steps up with a wonderful strike to give Harts a three-goal lead.
19:20And in the context of this title race, that really could make the difference.
19:26Gergiotta did ever so well, picking himself back up.
19:30And then Spittel with a pinpoint finish.
19:35Curling it beyond, Nicky Hogarth.
19:40Look at that face.
19:43Look at the joy in the stands.
19:51It's full time at Tynecastle.
19:54These Harts players have done their bit.
19:57They are that step closer to clinching the title.
20:06But with stoppage time still to play at Burr Park, they're not quite sure yet what they'll have to do.
20:15But they have given themselves a massive chance to go to Celtic Park and get themselves over the line.
20:24Celtic like a late goal, and right now they need a late goal.
20:28Fear of them clashing while the ball was in the air.
20:31Downward Austin Trusty holding the side of his head.
20:37And they are checking a possible penalty here.
20:45And they're looking at that left elbow of Sam Nicholson colliding with the head of Austin Trusty.
20:56Well, this craziest of Scottish football seasons is about to take another hugely dramatic twist.
21:07And Celtic will have a penalty chance to win the game.
21:14And Celtic have scored some important goals for Celtic in his short time at the club.
21:20It's the stuttering run-up, but it's the clinical finish.
21:24And it's the goal which keeps Celtic's title show on the road.
21:32It's an incredible ending at Far Park.
21:37The last kick of the game.
21:40And Celtic have made it seven wins on the bounce.
21:46Six in the Premiership.
21:48And it's the moment that keeps the title dream alive.
21:55And that means that Harps will go to Celtic Park knowing a draw or a victory gives them the title.
22:03Anything less, and it will be Celtic's.
22:06What a night. What drama once more.
22:10You wouldn't have expected anything else in this most amazing of seasons.
22:15And it's certainly not beyond Harps to go to Celtic Park and get the result they need in what would
22:21be the most incredible climax.
22:23But at Tyne Castle this evening, it finishes.
22:27Hatch three, Falkirk nil.
22:30Well, yeah, I mean, that's what we wanted to do, you know, at the beginning of the week to try
22:35and take it into the final open season.
22:37Well, the players have served it up.
22:38It's never said that we can play against the Motherwell side.
22:43And I thought that when we got 2-1 in front, I know it's a long way from home at
22:47that predictable stage, I thought that we really could see it through.
22:52As it turns out, the equalising goal, from what it will, forces our hand again.
22:56And what we've come up, we've come up trumps again.
22:59So, for me, just taking it into the final game, which looked an impossibility quite some weeks ago.
23:06I can't see anywhere in any world where it could ever be a penalty.
23:13I can't see a hand hitting the ball, but if it is, it's because he connects with Trusty and Trusty
23:22pushes his arm into the direction of the ball and not Sam pushing his arm, you know, going for the
23:29ball with his arm.
23:30So, in that case, if they see a hand, you know, a handball, then it's, you know, they should think,
23:36well, it's because of the connection and nothing else.
23:39I've seen it back very, very briefly, it's a handball, it looks as if it's also an elbow to the
23:45side of the head as well too, but, you know, VAR have asked the referee to come over and have
23:51a look at it, and he's had no hesitation in giving the penalty.
23:54I think it's a shame that a game between two teams, who really, you know, produced a very, very intense
24:04and good football game with extreme high temper at times, a lot of emotions, great crowd gets decided in a
24:14situation like that.
24:14I think they've shown enormous character, enormous character here to keep fighting right to the very, very end, and they've
24:22done that again, and we'll take Hearts on on Saturday.
24:25It could go either way, it could go any way, but at least we've taken it to the final game.
24:29Wow, what an incredibly dramatic season this is.
24:34We'll get Tyne Castle reaction very soon as well, but what it means basically is that Celtic need to win
24:39on Saturday against Hearts at Celtic Park.
24:43Hearts just need to avoid defeat to be crowned champions for the first time in 66 years.
24:50It was always going to be controversial, wasn't it?
24:53Just as well, we've got two impartial observers here in the form of former Celtic captain Scott Brown and former
24:58Hearts captain Michael Stewart.
25:00We have to start with the drama right at the end there at Fir Park.
25:03Scott, for you, was it a handball?
25:07Look, there is a hand there. It is harsh.
25:10It all depends on who's on the VAR at the point in time.
25:14They've got the referee to go over to have a look at, and he's fought.
25:18For me, looking at that in a slow-mo in that area, it looks like he's put his hand just
25:22above his head.
25:24And, yeah, trusty has, his shoulder has moved Sam's hand at that point in time just in front of his
25:31forehead.
25:32There probably is a little touch.
25:34It's harsh, I feel, for it, but it all depends on who's on VAR at that point in time.
25:39It won't work enough for Celtic.
25:41They get the penalty, and he actually, under that pressure, manages to put in the back of the net.
25:46So you feel it was a handball?
25:47Yeah, you can see it there.
25:49There is a hand up there, and whether trusty's not there.
25:52Sam's not meant to handball it, but he runs the risk.
25:56As soon as that hand's up there at any point in time, it's obviously going to be a hard decision
26:01for anybody.
26:02And I know this guy is 100% going to disagree with me, so I'm looking forward to it.
26:06Let's hear it. Michael, your view?
26:08No, I thought it was a pretty balanced assessment from Scott, but look, I mean, it's quite extraordinary the circumstances
26:14we find ourselves in in regards to, you know, the title race being so tight.
26:20And I've seen somebody claim this to be the worst VAR decision they've ever seen, and there's a lot of
26:26competition for that.
26:28Extraordinary, given the circumstances.
26:29That's not me that's saying that.
26:31I've been banned from Hamden for suggesting those sorts of things.
26:34But look, there is mitigation there in regards to the fact that Austin trusty is challenging, as Scott said.
26:41And to give a clear and obvious error and give a penalty kick for that, I have to tend to
26:47agree that I think it's extraordinary in the circumstances.
26:49There was the decision at Tynecastle last Monday where the same VAR, Andrew Dallas, gave a check and clear incident
26:58when Dijon Stirling handballed it, it hit his elbow.
27:02And the guidance from Willie Collum off the back of that was that it was to be viewed as a
27:07natural footballing challenge.
27:10Now, I don't understand how you can claim that on the incident at Tynecastle and not the same VAR official
27:19look at that and not see that that is a normal footballing challenge.
27:25His arm is there because of Austin trusty and the circumstances that that surrounds, I just find it quite extraordinary.
27:33The last three games, there have been now six VAR decisions which are crucial in where the title may land
27:43eventually.
27:44And every one of them has gone against Hearts.
27:46And it's no wonder there are many people around the country that are questioning what is going on.
27:51There's always going to be an element of subjectivity to all these decisions.
27:55As you say, everybody's going to have a different view.
27:57There was another controversial moment in this match.
28:01And again, with Callum Slattery going down in the box, Scott.
28:05Tell you what, it was a very good play for Motherwell.
28:07Motherwell's been a breath of fresh air this season.
28:09Like, fantastic little give and go and he's ready.
28:13I think he's maybe slipping.
28:15There maybe is a little bit of contact.
28:16There's not enough to actually say it's a definite penalty or if it's definitely not.
28:20The camera angles in these areas, you can see he's kind of slipping into it.
28:25Callum's put his hands up, pleading that there's no contact at that point in time.
28:30So the slip, you think the left foot slips and so therefore not a penalty?
28:34Yeah, I think he's slipping into Cal as well.
28:36Two of them, it would be really, really harsh, depending on, yet again, who's in the VAR van at that
28:44point in time.
28:45So, always going to bet that Cal there.
28:48He's an honest and he's a quality player.
28:50I mean, all these decisions, it's quite clear.
28:53If you're looking at them from a Celtic perspective, you're going to see it as they've been called correctly.
28:58They are so marginal.
29:00But again, I was saying six decisions.
29:01You can add that one as well.
29:02There's seven.
29:03That could easily have been given as a penalty kick.
29:06Do you think it was?
29:06I think it's borderline.
29:08I think, you know, either way.
29:10But my point is here that every single one of them have fallen one way in the favour of one
29:15team.
29:16And that incident there, I think it's almost impossible for Callum McGregor not to have had contact on him.
29:22But I would agree with Scott.
29:23When you watch it in real time, it probably looks like Callum Slattery is slipping.
29:28So, I think it's inconclusive, as I would suggest, was the incident at the end of the game as well.
29:33OK.
29:34It was a big, big victory for Hearts this evening against Falkirk at Tyne Castle.
29:39Let's get reaction now, both from John McGlynn and Derek McInnes.
29:43We did our job well, and we've done what we set out to do.
29:46I assumed Celtic would win.
29:48Obviously, the circumstances could maybe seem as a real negative for us.
29:53But, listen, Martin's done a brilliant job.
29:57You know, we're in good form in the post-split fixtures.
30:01What we have dealt with the games brilliantly, and Celtic have been that as well.
30:06So, it's the two best teams in the country.
30:08It's perfect in terms of Scottish football, the drama of it all, the interest in it all, the excitement of
30:15it all,
30:15and it goes to the last game.
30:17And we have to go to Celtic Park, which is the home of the team that's been the best team
30:21for the last wee while.
30:22And sometimes you need to in life, you just need to go in, whether it's a boxer has to beat
30:26the defending champion.
30:27Sometimes you just got to go in and overcome the best opponent, and that's what we need to try and
30:33do at the weekend.
30:34Our players have been magnificent.
30:36You know, all season, a six-place finish, would have bitten your handle for it, given that.
30:40I would bite your handle for it next year, because you know, again, it'll be difficult.
30:44But, yeah, very proud of the players overall for the season.
30:48One game to go, a bit of a dead rubber, but, yeah, get a break, go on the recruitment drive,
30:55and get to go next season again.
30:56It's difficult to go for 90-odd minutes and just play for a draw.
31:00So I think you've just got to go and play the game.
31:03But, listen, if it's 10, 15 minutes to go, and it's still a draw, then that might be a bit
31:09different then.
31:10But I think for us, it's got to back ourselves, dust ourselves down.
31:14We'll get the boys in for recovery tomorrow morning and focus on Celtic.
31:18But take the good for the day.
31:20For a while, it looked like the script was written for Hearts this evening, as Motherwell took the lead at
31:26Fair Park.
31:27And did you see this coming in this match, Scott?
31:32No, if I'm honest.
31:34But, look, it's a fantastic ball into the box, and they keep it alive as well.
31:39And Elliot, what?
31:40Great technique, getting over the ball, keeping it down, and there's a slight deflection off of Trusty at that point
31:46in time.
31:46But Motherwell, I keep saying it, they're a great footballing team.
31:50They've got runners in behind, their calmness, their quality on the ball, and they've brought in some fantastic signings.
31:56They kept on giving Celtic problems throughout, didn't they, Michael?
31:58I mean, look, Scott mentioned it before, they're a breath of fresh air, the way they play the game.
32:02You know, this is a team that go up against any other, and they go toe-to-toe.
32:07This is not a team that grind out results.
32:09They're open, they're expansive, they dominate the ball.
32:13They're fantastic against the ball defensively as well.
32:16I mean, it's a great strike from Watt controlling it with his weaker foot, but Sinisele's got to do better.
32:21As much as there is a little flick there, you're looking at the goalkeeper there, and you're saying, you've got
32:25to do better.
32:27And, I mean, you know, you asked the question, could you see it coming?
32:30I don't think there's any surprise at this point.
32:31You know, it's now, you know, we're so close to the end of the season.
32:35And these performances from Motherwell are not a surprise.
32:38Absolutely outstanding.
32:39And for a while, it looked like Hearts might be crowned champions this evening as they took control at Tynecastle,
32:45Michael.
32:46And it was a real show of strength, you have to say.
32:48Well, I mean, this is the other thing that we need to focus on in regards to, you know, what's
32:52coming up at the weekend.
32:54There's so much controversy that's surrounding it, but I thought Derek McInnesy's interview there was pitched perfectly in regards to
33:01focusing on, you know, the positives.
33:02And Hearts were a lot of positives there tonight.
33:05Falkirk are going to be asking questions there in regards to how can you allow Frankie Kent a free run
33:09at that.
33:09And this one's a little bit fortuitous in terms of the way it ricochets around, but look at how quick
33:15Cammy the Devlin is to latch on to that.
33:18Great interchange as well.
33:19You know, and this, I think, Scott was talking about this, you know, as the game was playing out in
33:23terms of Hearts have been so good at building momentum this season.
33:26You know, the Tynecastle has been used as a real weapon.
33:30They suffocate teams, they play with a great tempo, and this eventually is ultimately what it is.
33:34It's just bodies in the right areas, and as I said, slightly fortuitous the way it lands, and then equally
33:40with that deflection to go over the goalkeeper.
33:42But it's almost by a force of will getting that over the line.
33:46And, you know, Hearts are going to go to Celtic Park.
33:49Huge challenge for them, but they've got so many positives to focus on in regards to that.
33:53That performance there tonight was worthy of potentially getting their hands on a trophy.
33:58It was an outstanding performance.
33:59Absolutely.
34:00I mean, great fight shown by Hearts this evening.
34:02Throughout the season, obviously, Scott, but you'd have to say that about Celtic as well, especially under Martin O'Neill.
34:06They had to show fight this evening to get back into this match.
34:10And as we've seen so often in recent weeks, they have upped the intensity levels, haven't they?
34:15Yeah, definitely.
34:16I think Maid has been a huge part of that, and he looks like he's backing a man on form.
34:21And look, it's a fantastic tackle.
34:23It is a fantastic tackle.
34:25And I know people are going to disagree with me with this, but that's what you want your midfielder to
34:29do.
34:29Coming back in, winning the ball, I know it ends up at Maidah's feet, but he had one just before
34:34that, and he put it just past the post.
34:36But this is a fantastic finish on his weak foot as well.
34:39Acute angle, manages just to bend it in.
34:42And then, look, this is just exceptional.
34:45And you're getting 21 goals this season.
34:47When you see that behind, not this picture, it's the last one.
34:51When you see it behind, how much it dips, it's incredible.
34:55No wonder the goalie's like, what's just happened here?
34:57It's this angle here.
34:59And, like, lovely left foot and, like, pinpoint.
35:02Because Elliot Watt at that point, you know, as a midfielder, you could argue, you know, he needs to get
35:06a tad tighter,
35:07but he's probably thinking that his angles are pretty good because Negrin, with his left foot,
35:12you're thinking he's probably going to go past you that way.
35:14And he's probably thinking he's tight enough that there's no space there.
35:18But Scott says the way that he makes connection with it and it flies into the top corner, I mean,
35:22that's a special goal.
35:24And, look, Negrin's a player that clearly has divided opinion amongst the Celtic supporters.
35:28A lot of criticism flying about.
35:30All he does is score goals.
35:31Yeah, well, it's not a bad trait to have, is it?
35:33It reminds me of Chris Commons, mate.
35:34I was saying that earlier.
35:35Chris Commons, the exact same.
35:37Yeah.
35:37Big goals, edge of the box, wonderful left foot, top corner, and it's just small details like that.
35:43It's hard to find it.
35:44And he's scored 21 goals this season in an area.
35:47Like, he's probably not gave as much as what everybody, the other midfielders give in those areas on the ball,
35:52link-up play, but...
35:53It's 21 goals.
35:55You can't buy that.
35:56Absolutely.
35:56I mean, this season keeps on giving.
35:59Motherwell were always talked about as potential kingmakers in all this, Michael.
36:02And there would be.
36:04So many twists tonight, but this was one of them, wasn't it?
36:06Yeah, well, ultimately, it looks like somebody else might be the kingmakers.
36:09But from Motherwell's perspective, they were outstanding, as we've spoken about already.
36:14They, you know, they kept probing.
36:16And, you know, talking about in regards to Hearts, you know, the second goal with Cammy Devon,
36:21this is quite similar in that regards that so many bodies in the box desperately trying to latch on to
36:27things.
36:27And, you know, in the end, it falls to Liam Gordon.
36:30And you're thinking, that's the most unlikely of sources to find the back of the net.
36:35But Sinisalo again, maybe.
36:38I just wondered whether he reads the second shot and it's caught under him a little bit.
36:42And obviously, it lands at Liam Gordon's feet.
36:45And it's a really, you know, smart finish because he could panic.
36:49He's a centre-half.
36:50It's a huge goal.
36:51But he makes no mistake with it.
36:52And at that point, you're thinking, you know, it's going to be incredibly difficult to, you know,
36:58to see anything else coming from that game other than a draw.
37:01So, Scott, simple question.
37:02What happens on Saturday now?
37:04I'll tell you what, it's all to play for.
37:06Hart's in a pole position at this moment in time.
37:09If you asked him at the start of the season, he'd have bit his hand off for this.
37:13But Martin's done a great job grinding results out,
37:16managing to get the team back into a fighting position
37:20and an opportunity maybe to go and win the league again.
37:22So, it's going to be hard.
37:24I'm going to it.
37:25I'm looking forward to it.
37:26But it's going to be so nervy watching the games there.
37:29I was nervous there watching that.
37:31And so was Mikey, believe it or not.
37:33I could hear.
37:34It was a mixture of emotions, that's for sure.
37:36But you're backing Celtic, I take it, to win the title.
37:38I think 60,000 fans at Celtic Park, knowing if they're going to win the game.
37:44I think it would have been different if it was a draw
37:46and they had to go and score three or four goals.
37:48That becomes anxious and nervous for all the fans and the players.
37:53But knowing that to go and win a title at home,
37:56in front of your home fans on the last day of the season,
37:59I think there's no better place.
38:01And you ask any Celtic fan and that's the way, and the manager,
38:04that's the way they would want to do it,
38:06especially how far they've been behind.
38:07Michael, Hearts just need to avoid defeat.
38:10Are they going to end the 66-year wait?
38:13They were winners the last time they were at Celtic Park.
38:16Yeah, obviously under very different circumstances
38:19with regards to where Celtic were at that point.
38:21But I think, as I said before, Derek pitched that perfectly there.
38:25When you focus on the positives,
38:27that's as good as Hearts have performed in a good wee while.
38:29They've come into the split,
38:31they've picked up a good number of points,
38:32and you've got to say that they've positioned themselves perfectly.
38:35Scott mentioned it before.
38:36At the start of the season,
38:38when Tony Bloom comes out and talks the way he did,
38:40it was scoffed at, I think, by most people.
38:43To have got to this position within the first season
38:45is quite extraordinary.
38:46And focusing on the positives,
38:48I've been saying for a wee while now,
38:50there's no reason why Hearts can't go and win the title.
38:52And as much as there's disappointment, scepticism,
38:55and a lot of ill will coming off the back of tonight,
38:58I think Hearts need to focus on the positives there.
39:00And they are capable of going and getting the result
39:03that they need to win the trophy.
39:05Yep, Saturday is going to be absolutely huge.
39:07Now, in the other match tonight,
39:09Rangers hosted Hibbs.
39:11Before the game,
39:12there were reports of a bust-up
39:14between manager Danny Rall
39:15and outgoing club captain James Tavernier.
39:18In the end, a clearly emotional Tavernier
39:21who'd been left out of the squad
39:22did appear on the pitch
39:23for a presentation from Rangers legend John Gregg.
39:27Commentary on this one comes from Jamie Lyall.
39:31Rangers, the only team in the Scottish Premiership's top six
39:33with nothing tangible left to play for.
39:36Sunday's bruising old-firm defeat,
39:38consigning them to third place.
39:40Hibernian still with a chance of pipping Motherwell to fourth.
39:42A win here, though, imperative to making it happen.
39:45Two changes to Danny Rall's side.
39:47Sterling and Asghar promoted from the bench.
39:49One name conspicuously absent.
39:51No place for departing captain Tavernier
39:54on his final home outing.
39:56An unchanged to Bernian side
39:57after the bathering of Falkirk Campbell scoring twice.
40:00His namesake Josh Mulligan poised
40:02for a first game in four months
40:04after an ankle injury.
40:07Rangers have lost three consecutive league games
40:10for the first time since 2000.
40:12That run beginning with a 1-0 loss to Hibernian.
40:16Mikey Muir busting away from Chaiwa.
40:19Pass lap concedes the corner.
40:23Bright spark in a turbulent season.
40:26The teenager on loan from Tottenham.
40:28Rangers perhaps keen to extend this day
40:31at Ibrox beyond the end of the season.
40:33Barron's corner.
40:35Fernandes!
40:37And a fine reaction save from Raphael Salinger.
40:41The towering 6'6 defenders
40:44done plenty of this this season.
40:46Salinger up
40:47with a big stop for Hibbs.
40:51As Fernandes slipped away from Obita.
40:59Parlasa shot with the pass.
41:02And Rangers surging forward again.
41:05Fernandes is in possession.
41:12Owen Elving.
41:13What a faint he's been from
41:15the Republic of Ireland.
41:17Campbell striding forwards.
41:21Obita's cross.
41:22Boyle's unmarked and Boyle
41:24plants it beyond Jack Butland.
41:29Hibernian's own departing hero.
41:31Perhaps with one precious parting gift.
41:37He's scored in his past five
41:40league starts against Rangers.
41:42And that's a terrific finish on the volley.
41:46Rangers marking poor.
41:47Diamandio all at sea.
41:49And Denny Rull with plenty to ponder.
41:54Barron lufting it over the top for Cermiti.
41:57Up against Iredale.
41:59And the right instep of Rafa Salinger
42:02denying the Portuguese striker.
42:07Seven of his 12 goals this season
42:09coming against the Premiership's
42:10top two Celtic and Hearts.
42:17Cermiti using his power
42:19and his finesse.
42:20And across for Asgard.
42:23Warren Ohora blocks the door
42:25and then Barron
42:28unleashes a pile driver
42:30but Salinger again
42:33proves to be his saviour.
42:36It's excellent play this
42:37from Yusuf Cermiti
42:38burning away from Iredale
42:40and Asgard blocked on the line
42:42by Ohora.
42:43How about this from Connor Barron
42:44yet to score in 77 Rangers games.
42:48That would have been quite
42:48the Duck Breaker.
42:53Lovely interplay from Asgard
42:55and then he's tugged
42:56by Warren Ohora
42:57and the yellows coming out
42:59for the Irish defender.
43:06It's a cynical play from Ohora.
43:08Lovely play between Cermiti
43:10and Moor and Asgard.
43:13Asgard and Roman standing over this.
43:16Asgard 1-1.
43:22Dispatched
43:22with one vicious swing
43:24of his right leg
43:25and Rangers are level.
43:30Raphael Salinger's made
43:31some huge stops for Hibbs
43:32in this match
43:33but there was
43:34no stopping that.
43:42Moore
43:42put by Campbell.
43:45Rangers keep it alive.
43:47Diamande
43:47for Robbins.
43:49Cermiti in the middle.
43:50So is Moore
43:50and Miobski.
43:53And the substitute
43:55will feel
43:55he should have buried that.
43:58Rangers with all the possession
44:00and the glut of chances
44:01in this second half.
44:03Moore cushioned his shot
44:04and Miobski didn't
44:06cushion his enough.
44:13Nice play from Jiga
44:14to Cermiti
44:15and now Gassama's
44:17on the move.
44:18Jane Yu is there
44:19for Hibbs.
44:23Warren Jiga's misread that.
44:25Scarlett has
44:25bodied him off the ball.
44:27Rangers back in numbers.
44:29Scarlett with Chaiwa
44:30for support.
44:31Scarlett for Hibbs.
44:32Butland clears
44:33and Paslak.
44:37Outstanding double stop
44:38from the Rangers number one
44:40as Hibbs looked
44:41to complete a smash and grab.
44:45Jiga whose build-up play
44:46initially was so good
44:47and misreads the ball
44:49gets pushed off it.
44:51Scarlett had Chaiwa in the middle
44:52went it alone
44:54and then Paslak first time
44:56cushioned effort
44:58Buckland there to stop it.
45:02Final minute of the 90.
45:04Some Rangers fans
45:06beginning to head for the subway.
45:09Chuto has fashioned that through
45:10to Paslak
45:11skipping clear of one
45:13three in the middle
45:14Paslak no one tackles him
45:16and Scarlett taps it in.
45:21Green and white limbs
45:23in Govan.
45:25That's Hibernian
45:26ransacked
45:28Rangers fortress.
45:32And Dane Scarlett
45:33picks the most opportune moment
45:35to score his first goal
45:37on loan from Tottenham.
45:39It's excellent work
45:40from Chito and then Paslak.
45:42Barron stands off him
45:43and by then it's too late.
45:47Along the goal line
45:48where Scarlett
45:49has the simplest of finishes.
45:52And so a bleak season
45:53of turmoil
45:54and rancour
45:55ends with boos
45:57not with a trophy
45:58but an irate support
46:00and a half empty Ibrox.
46:02For Hibernian
46:03joy in the away ends
46:04and European football
46:06still a possibility.
46:08For Rangers
46:09another rebuild beckons.
46:13I was a bit disappointed
46:14with how we played at times
46:15but if I'm being honest
46:16I just said that to the players
46:17it was all about winning tonight
46:18and we found a way
46:19to win the game
46:20so delighted for them.
46:21It takes it into the last game
46:22because of the results
46:23that have went our way tonight.
46:25So as far as
46:26that's the job done
46:27for that point of view.
46:28It sets up a cracker
46:29on Saturday
46:29doesn't it against Motherwell?
46:30It does because
46:31Motherwell have been consistent
46:32all season.
46:33We know that.
46:35I think Motherwell
46:36might be the only team
46:36in the league
46:37we've not beaten now
46:37because Rangers were the other one.
46:39So we want to make sure
46:41we try and finish that as well.
46:41If we take all together
46:43the full day
46:44then this is
46:46yeah it was a mirror
46:47from our last four games
46:48I must say this.
46:50and that day-to-day
46:51showed me exactly
46:52that we need a strong
46:54front-footed cut
46:55in the summer
46:56to change a lot of things
46:57on and off the pitch
46:59set new standards
47:00and that's what we will do.
47:02Do you think the fans
47:02will give you the time
47:03you need Danny
47:04because they're a very demanding
47:05support
47:06the Rangers fans?
47:07No it is a good thing
47:08that they demand
47:08because then we agree
47:10we are both
47:10demanding
47:11or we agree
47:12demanding the board
47:13the manager me
47:14and the supporters
47:16and that's the reason
47:17why we have one goal together.
47:19The last four games
47:20it's not what
47:21Rangers should be
47:22we have different standards
47:24and this is
47:25what we have to work
47:26and we will
47:27go strong
47:28in the pre-season
47:29with a lot of things
47:30and there is no
47:32question mark
47:33in which direction
47:34we want to go.
47:35This was definitely
47:36the lesser of the three
47:37matches tonight
47:38but no shortage
47:39of talking points.
47:41First and foremost
47:41Hibs fantastic
47:42victory at Ibrox
47:43this evening
47:44Scott Brown
47:45Martin Boyle
47:46he won't be at Hibs
47:47next season
47:48but
47:49he would have enjoyed
47:50this moment.
47:51Yeah he would have
47:52Martin's had a fantastic
47:53career at Hibs
47:54and
47:55as everyone sees him
47:56he's an absolute legend
47:57but
47:57it's so easy
47:59he just peels off
48:00the back of the defender
48:01and
48:02it's a fantastic finish
48:04because it's a lot
48:05of concentration as well
48:06the little movement
48:08peels off
48:09nobody following him
48:10and it's a great finish
48:11like
48:12Butlin's got no chance
48:13whatsoever
48:13there
48:14because he's managed
48:15to concentrate so hard
48:16keep the ball down
48:17and make sure he makes
48:18good contact with that
48:19but
48:19he's had a fantastic
48:21career at Hibs
48:21and his celebration
48:23is lovely.
48:24I'm just having
48:25your celebrations
48:26I think.
48:27Yeah that's what that was.
48:28Sorry.
48:29Indeed.
48:29Indeed.
48:30I was just thinking
48:30he's a good golfer.
48:32Not as good as you.
48:34Never stops golfing
48:35now I know.
48:36Tell Asgard
48:37he's certainly good
48:37when it comes to free kicks
48:39Michael.
48:40It's quite an impressive
48:41one isn't it
48:41you know
48:42you often sort of
48:43think that
48:44when you're that close
48:45it's very difficult
48:46you know
48:47to
48:48to get it up and down
48:49but he doesn't bother
48:51getting up until
48:51he just smashes it
48:52right into the top corner
48:53I mean that's outstanding
48:55it really is.
48:56You know
48:57I've spoken already
48:58about some of the
49:00players that
49:00have divided opinion
49:02I think with
49:02T.L. Asgard as well
49:04you can see there's
49:05ability there
49:06but I think for me
49:07the big problem is
49:09I don't know that he
49:10actually knows how
49:11to use his attributes
49:12and affect the game
49:13often enough
49:13he sort of drifts
49:14out of things
49:15and doesn't have a
49:16big enough influence
49:16in the game
49:17he's clearly got ability
49:18as he's shown there
49:19but I think with the
49:20stature that he is
49:21he's got two good feet
49:23he can pass the ball
49:24he can clearly shoot
49:24you'd be expecting
49:25them to string
49:26all that together
49:27and be a real
49:27dangerous dynamic
49:28player
49:29but he's not really
49:30you know
49:31far too often
49:31he's posted
49:33missing in games
49:34In the end
49:35this was a hugely
49:36hugely important
49:37victory for Hibbs
49:38wasn't it Scott
49:38as Dane Scarlett
49:40nabbed the winner
49:41and they're just a
49:43point behind
49:43Motherwell
49:44they face Motherwell
49:45at East the Road
49:46at the weekend
49:49How big are their
49:50chances do you feel
49:51of leapfrogging
49:52them on the final
49:53weekend?
49:53It makes it huge
49:54for Dave
49:54because everyone's
49:56talked about how
49:56good a season
49:57Motherwell have had
49:58and Hibbs have went
49:59as an understudy
49:59this is a good bit
50:01of play right at
50:01the last minute
50:02as well and Scarlett
50:03does his best to try
50:04and miss the ball
50:05completely but
50:07Fernandes has
50:07dived in at this
50:08point in time
50:09Jäger's not been
50:10able to get across
50:11and cover at that
50:12point in time as well
50:14and you can see
50:14with Conor Barr
50:15trying to get back
50:16into fuller position
50:17but it's literally
50:18came two yards
50:19away for the goal
50:20you can't have
50:21a ball fired
50:22across there
50:22with a striker
50:24standing in between
50:24the goals
50:25and nobody near them
50:26Yeah
50:27very defensively
50:28suspect from Rangers
50:28there again
50:29Michael
50:29Yeah
50:30and I think
50:30that's a recurring
50:31theme
50:31there was a period
50:32where Rangers
50:33were picking up
50:33results and it
50:34looked like
50:35defensively they'd
50:37made things a little
50:38bit more secure
50:38but I think when you
50:39watched a lot of
50:40those games
50:40teams were still
50:41creating a lot of
50:42chances
50:42they just weren't
50:43scoring them
50:43and I think
50:43obviously laterally
50:45here they've
50:45started to really be
50:46punished and it's
50:47shown I think
50:47clearly that there's
50:49a lot of work
50:49for Danny Roll
50:50to do to get
50:51Rangers in a
50:52position where
50:52they're challenging
50:53That's an interesting
50:53point Danny Roll's
50:54future this is
50:55obviously a fourth
50:56straight defeat
50:57now for Rangers
50:58at the end he
50:58would go and have
51:00a word with some
51:01of the fans
51:01he got the dreaded
51:04vote of confidence
51:04as it's usually
51:06referred to it
51:07seems but where
51:09does this leave him
51:09another defeat
51:10Michael
51:11Yeah I mean
51:13it's just sort of
51:13they're falling
51:15over the finish
51:15line here and
51:16everything's sort of
51:17come to a bit of
51:18a disappointing
51:20end for them
51:20I mean look
51:21for Danny Roll
51:22I mean if he does
51:23stay there's a lot
51:24of work that needs
51:25to be done
51:25the recruitment
51:26needs to be far
51:27better
51:28and I wonder
51:29whether he's
51:30perhaps looking
51:31for you know
51:31an out as well
51:32you see him
51:33obviously being
51:33linked with a few
51:34German clubs
51:36I don't know
51:36whether that's
51:37been driven on
51:38his side of
51:38things or not
51:39I'm unsure
51:40there's a lot
51:40of uncertainty
51:41around the club
51:42the one thing
51:42I would say is
51:43that the owners
51:43that they have
51:44now are not
51:45as emotionally
51:46connected with the
51:47club as previous
51:48owners so perhaps
51:49that emotional
51:50decision is not
51:51going to be the
51:52same where the
51:52pressure from the
51:53fans would come
51:54the owners who
51:55are fans themselves
51:56would maybe feel
51:57that as well
51:58so that'll be in
51:58his favour
51:59I think so yeah
52:00that they would
52:00perhaps take the
52:01emotions taken out
52:02of the decision
52:03it'd be more of a
52:04strategic decision
52:04from the owners
52:05this time around
52:06and perhaps that
52:07would play into
52:08his favour
52:08we shall watch
52:09with interest
52:09time for a quick
52:10breather as we
52:10continue on our
52:11quest to decide
52:13Scotland's most
52:14iconic goal
52:15it's really
52:15your quest
52:16it's all down
52:16to your votes
52:17we're at the
52:17quarter-final stage
52:18now tonight
52:19it's Lee Griffith's
52:20first goal
52:21versus England
52:21versus Archie
52:23Gemmell's goal
52:23against the Netherlands
52:28Griffith's
52:29begins his run
52:30up left
52:30oh what a goal
52:33what a goal
52:35and what a way
52:37to break
52:37an international
52:38dark
52:39against England
52:40Lee Griffith
52:41steps up
52:42with an artistic
52:44free kick
53:06he goes through
53:07looks as if he'd
53:08lost possession
53:08kept his head
53:10a narrow angle
53:10and look at it
53:12oh that's one of
53:13the best sites
53:14they've seen
53:14Aaron in a long
53:15time
53:19so will it be
53:20Lee Griffiths
53:20or Archie
53:21Gemmell who
53:22makes it to the
53:22final four
53:23vote by using
53:24the QR code
53:25that's on the
53:25screen
53:26or you can go
53:26straight to the
53:27BBC Sport
53:27website
53:28where you can
53:29see all of
53:29the contenders
53:30full terms
53:30and conditions
53:31are online
53:32at BBC Sport
53:34time now for a
53:34quick look back
53:35at all the goals
53:36from Tuesday night
53:41corner
53:41whip to the
53:42back post
53:42Finlayson's
53:43there and
53:43there's
53:44Montano
53:45but the flag
53:46is up quickly
53:47to deny
53:48Christian
53:49Montano
53:49and Livingston
53:51I must admit
53:52I thought that
53:53goal would
53:53stand
53:55Dundee United
53:56defending here
53:57and Joshua
53:59Zimmerman has
53:59gone down
54:00and Livingston
54:00have the
54:01penalty
54:04Sam Cleel
54:05Harding
54:05might get out
54:06of jail
54:07here
54:09Zimmerman
54:10anticipating
54:11the contact
54:11to put it
54:12diplomatically
54:14and Grant
54:15Irvin will
54:15chuck this
54:16one off
54:18and he will
54:18book Joshua
54:19Zimmerman
54:20for simulation
54:21as well
54:21and that is
54:22a good
54:23decision
54:23and a good
54:24intervention
54:25from the
54:25VAR
54:25you have to
54:26say
54:31can St
54:31Mirren
54:31make the
54:32most of
54:32a set
54:33piece

54:38can't make

54:39of it
54:39Richard
54:40King

54:41the back
54:41post
54:43it's a big
54:44goal for
54:44St Mirren
54:46they simply
54:47have to win
54:52Gogic has a go
54:53off the bar
54:58and then
54:59Molloy's late

55:00slides it in
55:01and it is
55:022-0
55:03Killian
55:04Phillips
55:05against this
55:06former club
55:07surely wraps up
55:08the three points
55:09and boy did he
55:11enjoy it
55:16a win
55:17and they're going to win
55:18and they're safe
55:18just eight wins

56:50either
56:50Dunfermline
56:51Athletic or
56:51Partick
56:52Thistle
56:52it'll be
56:53a hard
56:53game
56:53it will
56:54be
56:54because
56:54Dunfermline
56:55has
56:55come
56:55against
56:55three
56:56SPL
56:56teams
56:57already
56:57and

56:58so
57:00it is

57:11result
57:11against
57:12Aberdeen
57:12it gives
57:12them a little
57:13bit more
57:13confidence
57:13going into
57:14this game
57:15as well
57:15because
57:15I think
57:16the last
57:16couple
57:17of games
57:17they have
57:18probably
57:18not
57:18gave

57:19that
57:19much
57:21opportunity
57:21to get

57:22so
57:22for
57:23them

57:24a
57:24little

57:26Michael
57:27will
57:27stay up

57:30a toss
57:30a coin
57:31but that's
57:32a huge
57:32one for

57:33a bit
