00:00Today, we are going to ask Muslims a question.
00:02It is such a question that it is said even Islamic high school students become deists
00:06because of it.
00:07As Muslims, we criticize the idolaters, but why do we prostrate to the Kaaba?
00:16This question is really ... It makes a lot of sense.
00:20This is an excellent question.
00:22I don't know.
00:24We can give some basic answers regarding that.
00:29This is such a question that it is said that even some Islamic high school students have
00:33become deists because of it.
00:34Let's see what you will say as a Muslim.
00:36Are you ready?
00:37Yeah.
00:38Before getting to that, I would like to ask another question.
00:40Why do you think people become deists?
00:41I think they might be thinking of the stories about prophets as just stories or legends.
00:46Also science may lead people to doubt for these things.
00:48I don't know.
00:49Cosmic events, the Big Bang, etc.
00:50This or that.
00:51These have an influence on people's mind.
00:52I assume another majority becomes deists because of the popular culture's impact.
00:56They are misled by their parents' bad lifestyle.
00:58The new generation of young people follow the bad ethics of the generation that came
01:03before them.
01:04Which means it gets worse when the ethics of previous generation are already bad.
01:08The question is, as Muslims we criticize the idolaters, but why do we prostrate to the Kaaba?
01:13Why do we ... Let me think about it for a while.
01:23This question is really ... Brother, I don't think there is an answer for that.
01:27I don't have any answer.
01:28I mean, the answer might ... I don't know ... Brother, I don't think there is an answer for that.
01:39I don't know.
01:40I don't know.
01:41Why?
01:42Brother, I am more of ... I mean, I am still in the phase of researching.
01:45No, we don't worship the Kaaba, we worship Allah.
01:50The Kaaba ... Yeah, I am stuck.
01:53Now, I know that Islam was revealed around that place.
01:57So there was Masjid Al-Aqsa before this.
01:59I mean, before the Kaaba, that's all I know.
02:02Prostrating does not mean worshiping.
02:04Right now, I am thinking about ways to defend the Kaaba.
02:07Nope.
02:08It makes a lot of sense.
02:11Does the question make sense?
02:12The question makes a lot of sense, but there is surely an answer for it.
02:15This is an excellent question, a clever question.
02:18But to find its answer, one should think a lot.
02:21Brother, isn't the Kaaba a symbol for us, right?
02:24What do you think the difference is?
02:26I mean, they prostrate before idols.
02:27You prostrate before a stone, the Kaaba.
02:29They say, aren't you like an idolater?
02:31Allah forbid.
02:33I don't know, brother.
02:36We're stuck here.
02:37Could be because it is the way that has been done for a long time.
02:40When the first Muslims had done it in the past, that's what they did.
02:43I think this may be the reason.
02:45The idolaters make things out of stone or concrete or something like that and accept them as their
02:50gods.
02:51But we don't do that.
02:54For instance, the Kaaba and idolatry are two different things.
02:56I mean, idolatry is a very different concept because it is like worshipping a piece of
03:01stone, after all.
03:02You worship an idol, but that idol has no effect on you in return.
03:05The Kaaba is not like that.
03:07It's like a sacred place.
03:09Just like how mosques are sacred places.
03:12Why do we go to the mosque to worship?
03:13We go to the mosques not because we worship that mosque, but to worship Allah.
03:18We can give a few basic answers regarding that.
03:20First, as Muslims, we do not actually prostrate to the Kaaba.
03:23We prostrate towards the Kaaba, so the Kaaba is not an idol for us, the Kaaba is just a
03:28direction for us.
03:29Yes, Kaaba is a direction.
03:30There is a significant difference between idolatry and Islam because in idolatry, they
03:34actually worship and prostrate to the material or that idol.
03:37But what do you do in Islam?
03:39You just turn to the Kaaba, you determine it as a direction, you designate it as your
03:42Kablah.
03:43You don't actually worship the Kaaba itself.
03:45We can actually think of it like this.
03:46In idolatry, people take the little idols to their homes, they turn to the idol and worship
03:51it, but there is no such thing in Islam.
03:53Sometimes you see people who have small pictures of the Kaaba in their homes, but you won't
03:57see them turning away from the Kaaba, the direction of the Kaaba, and Muslims don't prostrate
04:01in front of the picture of the Kaaba and leave the actual Kaaba.
04:04So in Islam, the Kaaba itself is not worshipped.
04:06As a second point, we can say this, determining the Kaaba as the Kaaba is actually to ensure
04:10the unity and solidarity.
04:11Now, for example, a commander chooses a center to maintain the unity and stability of an army
04:16so that he can direct everyone towards the same destination.
04:19He gathers everyone in the same place.
04:21Just like that, the Kaaba is a center point for all Muslims to unite and come together.
04:25Let's say we went to Friday prayer.
04:26What would have happened if the Kaaba had not been designated as the Qablah?
04:30Everyone would have prostrated in different directions.
04:32There would be no unity and cooperation.
04:35But what is happening in Mosques right now?
04:37We go to the mosque.
04:38All Muslims turn in the same direction all over the world.
04:41Just like an army, the unity and cooperation is achieved.
04:44Or think about the worship of Hajj.
04:45What happens every year to all Muslims during Hajj?
04:48They assemble at the same place, demonstrating power, strength, unity and cooperation.
04:53So by that means, the Kaaba is a central place for us.
04:56It is not something that we worship.
04:58Thirdly, there is a significant difference between idolatry and Islam.
05:01Besides, Islam was revealed to fight against idolatry.
05:04Why?
05:05Because in idolatry, there is something like this.
05:07You, yourself, give power to that material, that idol.
05:10For instance, idolaters say that it is the idol who can heal you.
05:12It is the idol who provides the sustenance.
05:14They think that the power itself is in that material.
05:17But there is no such thing in Islam.
05:19All power and strength belong completely to Allah.
05:22Let alone inanimate matter being the source of power.
05:24We say that even in human beings, Allah is the real source of any sign of power and strength.
05:28I mean, if I'm able to talk right now, if I can move my hand and my arm, if I can carry this microphone, the source of the power here is also Allah.
05:35It is not in me.
05:36In other words, Islam does not attribute power and strength even to humans themselves.
05:40Naturally, we say that Islam and idolatry are completely different things.
05:44Fourthly, we can say, if Muslims worship the Kaaba itself, as it is said, they wouldn't climb to the top of the Kaaba to recite Azaan.
05:51Many companions of Prophet, especially Bilal al-Habashi, climb to the top of the Kaaba to recite Azaan.
05:56So it is not an object of worship.
05:58We can think of another example.
05:59When we pray, we prostrate on the prayer rug, but we don't worship it.
06:03Similarly, when we prostrate towards the Kaaba, we don't worship the Kaaba itself.
06:07The fifth thing we can say is that if a person directs this question to Islam and as a result he leaves Islam,
06:12it means that he doesn't even know the most fundamental teachings of Islam.
06:15Because what is the very first knowledge that Islam teaches?
06:18There is no deity except Allah.
06:20This tells us about a complete Tawhid, oneness of God, meaning that there is no deity except Allah.
06:26We can say that this is the first statement of Islam.
06:29So, if a person says that Islam commands people to worship some material, in this case, the Kaaba,
06:35it shows that he doesn't even know the basic principles of Islam.
06:39Because Islam is a religion that emphatically emphasizes the importance of Tawhid.
06:44It's basically like this.
06:45What do you say?
06:46Are these answers satisfying?
06:48Yes, brother, we understood everything.
06:49It makes sense.
06:50I didn't know the things you just said.
06:52I'm satisfied with your answers, brother.
06:54If you had not told me, I would have never known or found the answer by myself.
06:58It makes sense, brother.
06:59When I first heard the question, I was frozen up.
07:01But it made a lot of sense when you explained it.
07:02Everything is solved.
07:03It was very a reasonable and good answer.
07:05Now, if a person asked such a question, I would answer it 100%.
07:09I mean, same.
07:09I can answer it too.
07:11Let's say you couldn't find the answer.
07:13Is there any need to abandon your religion for this question?
07:16No, there isn't.
07:17No, you can't abandon for such a thing.
07:18While there are thousands of evidence for Islam, there is no need to abandon it just for this question.
07:23Naturally, unless we refute thousands of evidence one by one, there is no need to abandon Islam.
07:28We say that there is an answer to every question in Islam.
07:31There are answers to all questions in the Holy Quran.
07:33One of the greatest tafsirs of the Quran in this modern day is Risale-i Nur.
07:37Especially people who are researching things like atheism or deism can find every answer in Risale-i Nur.
07:42They can find their answers in it.
07:44They can reach the answers there.
