00:00Everything is over.
00:02You decided to end your life.
00:04You don't want to live anymore because life gives you pain.
00:07Your mind keeps bothering you and you feel miserable.
00:11You say, I'm not happy, so why should I live?
00:13You climb up to a high place to end your life.
00:16You let yourself fall and hit the ground, experiencing the worst pain imaginable.
00:21Ambient sirens wail around.
00:23People are coming, running, screaming and shouting, he threw himself down and shouting.
00:28Suddenly, your mother comes to the balcony and looks around, where are you?
00:32She looks down, sees your lifeless body and runs down the stairs crying, not my child,
00:37please don't let it be my child, don't let him be dead.
00:40You have caused her the greatest pain she could ever feel in her life, a pain that she will
00:46relive every day until the end of her life.
00:49We are going to talk about suicide.
00:58Why does someone commit suicide?
01:00Problems sometimes come one after another, right?
01:03We have all been through hardships, right?
01:05But there are also calamities in this world severe enough to drive a person to commit suicide.
01:10It's like a war starts in your head.
01:12Certain things constantly revolve in your mind.
01:14Intense thoughts come to you.
01:16You feel confused and you feel helpless.
01:19So you are fighting a war within yourself.
01:21Even the activities you once enjoyed now feel meaningless.
01:24Your mental health is ruined and your sleep schedule falls apart.
01:28You don't enjoy anything you eat or drink.
01:30And you know what the worst thing is?
01:32No one understands you.
01:33You don't even believe that there is someone who can solve your problem.
01:37You watch TV shows to get over your boredom.
01:39You do things that will make you forget your pain.
01:42But nothing helps because your mind comes with you wherever you go and eats at you from the
01:47inside.
01:48When you cannot use your mind properly and control it, it can lead you to disaster.
01:53I've done some research on this subject from scientific, psychological and Islamic views.
01:58They are really original and striking findings.
02:00For example, did you know that every 40 seconds someone commits suicide in this world?
02:04I mean, since this video started, two or three people have already committed suicide.
02:09That person who committed suicide was once someone who had a positive perspective on life,
02:14who thought positively, who seemed to have no problems, full of joys.
02:18But the calamities they faced brought them to a very different point.
02:22And they thought they couldn't stand it anymore.
02:24Actually, suicide is not a solution.
02:26It's an escape because there's always a way out.
02:29And there's even a quote from a tinker.
02:30He says, if you believe in Allah, your chances of solving your problem are infinite.
02:36Allah has infinite power, right?
02:37So what could be difficult for Him?
02:40Because there is a verse in the Quran, Allah says,
02:42أَسْتَيْزُ بِاللَّهِ
02:43لَا يُكَلِّفُ اللَّهُ نَفْسًا إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا
02:46Allah does not require of any soul more than what it can afford.
02:50Then why do people commit suicide?
02:52One of the greatest Islamic scholars, Bediüzzaman Said Nursi,
02:56offers a profound observation about patience.
02:58He says,
02:59If a person does not distribute his strength of patience to the past and to the future,
03:04but concentrates it on the present, he can bear every calamity.
03:08Yes, that person can bear every calamity,
03:10including all the problems that drive people to suicide.
03:13But you think too much about what happened in the past
03:16and complain saying, why did this happen this way?
03:19You're using some of your patience for the past.
03:21And at the same time, you're distributing it to the future,
03:24thinking, what will happen in the future?
03:26How will things get better?
03:28You have spread your power of patience to the past and to the future.
03:32The center, which is the present time, has become powerless.
03:35Then Shaytan, the devil, notices the emptiness and immediately attacks you.
03:40He exhausts your patience and you say,
03:42Enough is enough.
03:43I can't stand it.
03:44I don't want to live.
03:46This is because you spread out your patience to the past and to the future.
03:50That's when the devil attacks a person who is getting closer to committing suicide.
03:54All of a sudden, he attacks your mind.
03:56Negative toes run through your head.
03:58When you look through black glasses, you see the environment in black, right?
04:02So the devil puts black glasses on you.
04:04Everything seems negative and impossible to deal with.
04:07He attacks you from left and right.
04:10And you want to silence these toes, but you can't.
04:13This is exactly why people commit suicide.
04:15To relieve the pain in the mind and heart.
04:18So would they want to end their lives if that pains were gone?
04:22Of course not.
04:24We have outlined the reasons that lead to suicide.
04:27Financial issues, getting into trouble, family problems, psychological disorders, depression,
04:33loneliness, breakups, one-sided love.
04:35These can lead people to suicide.
04:37On top of this, 90% of suicides are due to psychological reasons.
04:42And 50% of people who commit suicide are addicted to alcohol or drugs.
04:46Very interesting, right?
04:47There's something that people always forget.
04:49You're only entrusted with this body.
04:52Take a look at yourself.
04:53Where did your eyes come from?
04:54Which market could you have bought them from?
04:57You don't own anything.
04:58Do you realize that?
04:59And does such a person have the right to say, why does it have to be this way?
05:04Think of it this way.
05:05You bought a house and decorated it as you wanted.
05:08Then your guest comes and starts to criticize.
05:11Why are your walls this color?
05:12This sofa set doesn't go well with this color.
05:15I will change the color immediately.
05:17What would your reaction be if they said this?
05:19You would say, well, you're not the owner of this property.
05:22You don't get to decide.
05:23Wouldn't you?
05:24Now let's take a look at ourselves.
05:26What do we own?
05:27Nothing.
05:28And the owner is free to do whatever he wants in his property.
05:32He tests us to improve ourselves.
05:34For example, when the exam starts and the papers are handed out, the teacher can sometimes
05:39turn into someone really serious, right?
05:41Especially if you don't follow the rules.
05:43When you look at the paper, you see the test questions.
05:46There are both right and wrong choices.
05:48You can't just say, why are these wrong choices like B, C, D?
05:54Why do we have these?
05:55These are wrong.
05:56It's a test.
05:57Similarly, negative things will happen in this world.
05:59You will face problems.
06:00There will be moments that will make you say, why did this happen to me?
06:05But don't worry.
06:06In the hereafter, everything will be balanced with justice.
06:09Don't say, why can't my eyes see?
06:12Why can't my ears hear?
06:14In the hereafter, everything will come into balance.
06:16For example, think of a person who was born blind.
06:19He came into the world, lived, then death took him and he left.
06:24He couldn't see anything.
06:25But when the deprivation he experienced in this world is given to him as a reward in the
06:30hereafter, won't he say, I am not sad at all that I was blind in this world?
06:35If there were no hereafter, it would indeed be a great injustice.
06:40But we have hereafter.
06:41Your troubles will also be balanced by justice.
06:44So don't worry.
06:45One day, you will look back and smile at what you have suffered.
06:49It's always been like this, right?
06:50Remember the biggest calamity of your life.
06:52It comes and goes.
06:54Maybe you don't smile at it, but you feel that the pain has eased right now.
06:59After one week, the pain eased up a little bit.
07:02Then three weeks pass and the pain reduces even more.
07:05A whole year later, you would say, was I really this much upset about it?
07:09And when 10 years go by, you don't even remember it.
07:12In Surah El Maide, verse number 32, Allah says,
07:15Whoever takes a life, unless as a punishment for murder or mischief in the land, it will be
07:20as if they killed all of humanity.
07:23In this verse, when it mentions taking a life, why do you think only of others?
07:26Do you know what the worst part of suicide is?
07:29You have no chance to repent.
07:30Let's say you have committed adultery or some other sin.
07:34You may regret it and repent, and then Allah may forgive you.
07:37But when you commit suicide, you have no opportunity, no time to repent.
07:41With that great sin, you go directly to the hereafter.
07:44What was the reason that you committed suicide?
07:46So that it will all end, right?
07:48But everything doesn't end when you die.
07:51And nothing ends, instead the worst begins.
07:54What if Allah doesn't forgive you?
07:55Doesn't hell scare you?
07:57Now, if I tell you I will slap you 10 times here, you will want to get out, right?
08:02Then what if I tell you that if you get out, 100 people will slap you even harder?
08:07That's what hell is like.
08:08Just take a look at the verses about hell.
08:11You may think, let it be over, and I will be free after that.
08:14But no, it's not like that.
08:17Right after it's over, the actual pain will come.
08:19There's a beautiful saying, if the world is temporary, how can your troubles be permanent?
08:26Isn't that right?
08:27Look, there are many verses that bring comfort to us.
08:30In Surah Al-Inshirah, verse number 5 and 6, Allah says,
08:33So surely with hardship comes ease, surely with that hardship comes more ease.
08:39Surah Zumer, verse number 53,
08:41All my servants who have exceeded the limits against their souls, do not lose hope in Allah's mercy.
08:47For Allah certainly forgives all sins.
08:49Surah Zumer, verse number 36,
08:52Is Allah not sufficient for his servant?
08:54Surah Al-Baqarah, verse number 216,
08:57Perhaps you dislike something which is good for you, and like something which is bad for you.
09:01Allah knows, you do not know.
09:03With all these good tidings given to us through verses, how can a person have no hope?
09:09There's a saying,
09:10Those who see the beauty in life, think beautifully.
09:13And those who think beautifully, enjoy their lives.
09:16There are people who have suffered at least 50 times more than what you have suffered,
09:20but they can still live happily.
09:22How?
09:23Because of their mindset, because they have a good perspective on their lives.
09:27Look at the lives of the prophets.
09:28What were they like?
09:29Did Ayyub live in the world without any troubles and any difficulties?
09:35Think of the troubles that Yunus, Isa had to go through.
09:39Prophet Muhammad ,
09:40They all experienced so many hardships.
09:43But did they ever question God or commit suicide?
09:46So this is one of the reasons why people commit suicide.
09:49You focus on negative things.
09:50You don't appreciate your life.
09:52You think this problem cannot be handled and you want to commit suicide.
09:56Brothers and sisters, believe me, it's because of our mindset.
09:59You get a news, a sentence enters your ear.
10:01That bad news spoils all your psychology.
10:04What we need to do here is where to put that sentence and how to manage the process.
10:10Do you know that this life that you are not pleased with is a dream of millions of people?
10:15They would do anything to live your life.
10:17There are a lot of people in the world that suffers.
10:20Actually, some of them cannot even imagine a life like yours.
10:24Because their imagination is not that developed.
10:26They have never seen this kind of life.
10:29I understand that your pain is deep.
10:31But you need to change your mindset and convince yourself to get out of this maze.
10:36When was the last time you were grateful that you have feet and you can walk?
10:40Some people are being tested with disabilities.
10:43Some live without hands.
10:45Others without legs.
10:46Some without sight.
10:47Yes, they do.
10:48They face challenges 50 times greater than ours.
10:52But they choose to live and find happiness.
10:55In the hereafter, they will be rewarded more than all of us.
10:58In this world, there are all kinds of suffering.
11:00Allah has given you so many blessings.
11:03I understand that you can't see these blessings that you have
11:06because of the mood that you are in.
11:08Now, close your eyes and imagine what might be going through the mind of someone
11:13considering suicide.
11:14You have decided to end your life.
11:16Now, it's all over.
11:18You don't want to live anymore because it hurts.
11:21Your mind keeps bothering you.
11:22You feel miserable.
11:23You say, I'm not pleased with my life, so why would I live?
11:27And you go up to the highest floor and you let yourself fall.
11:30Now you hit the ground.
11:32You have experienced the greatest pain of your life.
11:34There are two possibilities for you.
11:36And there is no guarantee that you will die.
11:38Imagine that you are paralyzed or permanently disabled.
11:42Now, for the rest of your life, you may lose the ability to enjoy simple blessings
11:47like running freely as you wish.
11:49By the way, a research indicates that a significant number of individuals
11:54who survive suicide attempts, they express immediate regret during or after the act.
11:59Studies show that up to 90% of survivors from suicide, they do not go on to die by suicide in the future.
12:06They regret doing that.
12:08Or the other possibility.
12:09Let's say that you are dead.
12:10What's going on right now?
12:12Around you, there are the sounds of ambulances.
12:14People coming, running, screaming.
12:16They're shouting.
12:17But where are you?
12:18Suddenly, your mom comes to the balcony and looks for you and she can't see you.
12:23Your mother looks down, sees a dead body, and runs down the stairs, crying.
12:28Not my child.
12:29Please don't let it be my child.
12:31Don't let him be dead.
12:33You cause her the greatest pain she could ever feel in her life.
12:36She calms down, looks and sees it's her child.
12:40It's a pain like no other, piercing her heart.
12:44The news reaches your father.
12:45He becomes so sad.
12:47And you make your siblings go through the same thing.
12:50Can you really bear the thought of leaving everyone around you heartbroken?
12:55For months, years, they will live with your pain.
12:58A few weeks after you die, your mother walks into your room,
13:02looks at your photo, your pillow, your bed, all the memories that you have.
13:06A woman who spent her life for you, you can't do this to her.
13:11So what can one do to break free from this mindset?
13:15First, keep yourself busy with something meaningful.
13:18Maybe trying photography or exploring new places in the world.
13:22As long as it stays within helal limits, it can be anything.
13:25The best way to keep your mind busy is to connect with your Lord.
13:29Listening to him and the Quran.
13:31Keeping yourself occupied helps you avoid loneliness
13:34and takes your mind off bad thoughts.
13:36It's a simple way to find peace and bring positive energy into your life.
13:40Shaytan, the devil, will try to weaken your patience.
13:44He will do this by constantly taking you to the past and to the future.
13:48You have to be busy with something to keep your mind in the present moment.
13:52Even the most seemingly impossible problems can be resolved.
13:55Allah created the universe out of nothing.
13:57Isn't it unreasonable to think he can't solve this problem?
14:01He is the creator of the universe.
14:03Keep this in mind, there is a way out of this.
14:06Even if you can't find it right now, even if the roads are foggy now, the fog will clear.
14:11It's interesting that many sides happen because of the overwhelming intensity of a single moment.
14:18In these times, the devil takes advantage of your current weakness,
14:21amplifying despair and making problems seem unsolvable.
14:25But emotions are like waves.
14:27They rise and they fall.
14:29Simply pausing, resting for a day, this can help.
14:32By the next morning, the pain may ease,
14:35even slightly offering a clearer perspective and renewed strength to move forward.
14:41Don't forget, this is a world filled with pains and sorrows.
14:44This is not the world where you get rewards for your good deeds.
14:48This is the world that shattered the heart of Prophet Muhammad .
14:52He lost his wife, Hatice-ul-Kubra.
14:54The world where the tears of Prophet Muhammad fell to the ground
14:59when he saw his uncle Hamza at Uhud.
15:02Hamza's lungs were torn apart and his ears, his nose, they were cut off.
15:07This is the world where the Prophet of Allah suffered the most.
15:11How can you not be troubled?
15:13How can you not suffer?
15:15Who are you to be safe from calamities?
15:17In these conditions, we will live here and be patient.
15:21What does Allah say in Surah Duha verse number 3?
15:24Your Lord has not abandoned you nor has He become hateful of you.
15:29What a beautiful verse.
15:30Your Lord has not become hateful of you.
15:32He didn't leave you brothers, sisters.
15:35Didn't Allah promise Muslims a paradise?
15:38When that day comes, everything will be fine.
15:40All troubles and problems will be over.
15:42As long as we live for His sake, everything will be fine.
15:46Alhamdulillah, one day we will die.
15:50Actually, this is a very comforting sentence.
15:53But if it happens by my own choice, suicide, the hereafter will be very difficult.
15:58But if my Lord takes my life and I live according to His wishes,
16:01He already wants to forgive us.
16:03He doesn't want to send us to the hell.
16:05Now imagine, you've entered the paradise.
16:09All your troubles have vanished.
16:11Never to return.
16:13Even if the entire world were against you, it could no longer affect you.
16:17You see the prophets.
16:19Yunus , Muhammad , Isa .
16:22You meet the companions.
16:23You are reunited with your loved ones, your friends, your relatives.
16:27Most importantly, you meet your Lord Allah.
16:31The one who created you, blessed you, and guided you.
16:34In this life, we may have 30 or 40 years left.
16:37Filled with challenges.
16:39But they will pass.
16:40Every hardship will end one day.
16:42With patience comes salvation.
16:44And with faith, there is always hope.
16:46Life is a fleeting journey.
16:48A temporary test of patience and faith.
16:51The pain you feel now is not permanent.
16:55It's a bridge leading you closer to Allah.
16:57Every tear you shed, every moment of struggle is seen by Allah.
17:02You are not forgotten and you are never alone.
17:04Beyond the storms of this dunya, there is an eternal peace.
17:08A home where all sorrows vanish and your heart finds its rest.
17:13Hold on a little longer.
17:15Paradise is worth every hardship.
