00:00Welcome to the new video from the Auto Magazine Tuning Blog.
00:04This time, we're talking about the exciting and at the same time unusual electric moped Onyx RCR80V,
00:10which can travel at up to 105 km per hour and is therefore more reminiscent of a lightweight electric motorcycle than a classic moped.
00:19The American company Onyx Motors nevertheless confidently calls it an e-moped, although the technical data speaks for itself.
00:26Visually designed in a retro style, the RCR80V features modern technology,
00:34including an 80-volt battery pack with 45 ampere hours and an electric motor with up to 18 kilowatts peak power.
00:43This allows the compact vehicle to sprint to around 50 kilometers per hour in just 1.7 seconds and, in the open version, achieves a top speed of up to 105 kilometers per hour.
00:56However, the vehicle is electronically limited to 32 kilometers per hour X-Works, which is a prerequisite for road approval as a moped in the USA.
01:06But if you remove the electronic limitation, you get a real performance miracle.
01:12In Europe, the Onyx RCR80V with a rated output of 11 kilowatts could meet the requirements for a Class A1 driving license.
01:19Ideal for young people aged 16 and over are holders of the B196 extension in Germany.
01:28The range is also remarkable.
01:32According to the manufacturer, the battery with a capacity of 3.6 kilowatt hours allows up to 209 kilometers in eco mode,
01:39while in sporty driving mode it is still possible to drive around 88 kilometers.
01:43However, anyone who is constantly driving at top speed will have to accept noticeable range losses.
01:52In that case, you can still reach for the mounted pedals to get to your destination using muscle power.
01:58A clever feature that symbolizes the Björnge extender.
02:03In terms of chassis technology, the Onyx RCR80V is equipped with 17-inch cast rims and 180 R17 tires.
02:10A classic telescopic fork is used at the front, while adjustable shock absorbers are used at the rear.
02:17Braking is provided by hydraulic disc brakes in 220 millimeters format.
02:22Regenerative braking is provided by the rear hub motor.
02:26The equipment includes modern LED lights all around including daytime running lights,
02:31a TFT touchscreen with smartphone connectivity for navigation, music and calls,
02:35a loud alarm system, a lockable storage compartment and a reverse gear.
02:39A rarity in this vehicle class.
02:43The price for the Onyx RCR80V starts at around 3,200 euros.
02:50Those who prefer the versions in space black or cosmic gold will pay around 40 euros extra.
02:56According to the manufacturer, the country of sale is planned for September 2025.
03:00However, for the time being only in the USA.
