00:00Welcome to the new video from the Auto Magazine Tuning Blog.
00:04This time, we're all about the 3rd generation of the Mazda CX-5,
00:07which will be available in German dealerships from December 2025
00:11and will bring with it some profound changes.
00:15The popular compact SUV, of which around 4.5 million units have been sold worldwide since 2012,
00:22is larger, more digital and more modern in its new edition
00:25and will in future completely do away with a diesel engine.
00:30Instead, Mazda is initially launching a mild hybrid version with a 2.5-cylinder petrol engine.
00:38Further drive variants are to follow.
00:40At first glance, the new CX-5 is clearly recognizable as such.
00:45Mazda remains true to its design language, even though the SUV has grown significantly.
00:51The new generation now measures around 4.7 meters in length, 1.9 meters in width and 1.7 meters in height.
01:00This brings it closer to the larger CX-60 in terms of appearance and concept.
01:06The front section is particularly striking with its 5 centimeters higher bonnet,
01:10which not only looks more striking but also benefits pedestrian protection.
01:14The widened radiator grille is framed by a gray frame element and blends harmoniously with the narrow LED headlights.
01:24Depending on the equipment, 17- or 19-inch alloy wheels are available.
01:29At the rear, the design is based on the larger Mazda models CX-60 and CX-80.
01:33Horizontal tail lights and a continuous light strip that frames the Mazda lettering give the new CX-5 a significant increase in volume.
01:46The wheelbase has grown by 11.5 centimeters to now 2.8 meters, which has a noticeable effect on the space available in the rear.
01:53Passengers benefit from around 6 centimeters more knee room and around 3 centimeters more headroom.
02:03In addition, there are wider door openings in the rear, which make getting in more comfortable and make it easier to install child seats.
02:09The trunk has also grown significantly, with a volume of almost 600L with the rear seats up, an increase of 1000L, and just over 2000L with the rear seat backrests folded down plus 381L.
02:30A loading sill that is almost 3 centimeters higher, a loading height that is around 2 centimeters lower and a flatter loading floor make it easier to stow bulky items.
02:39The rear seat backrests can be folded down in a ratio of 40, which further increases the variability.
02:48Inside, Mazda has opted for a clear, modern look with high-quality materials and a significantly reduced number of physical switches.
02:57Particularly striking is the steering wheel, which no longer bears the typical Mazda logo but simply the brand name.
03:05The buttons for the driving modes are now located in the steering wheel spokes,
03:08which should make operation more intuitive in everyday life.
03:12The seats have also been completely redesigned.
03:16Thanks to new upholstery and a sophisticated shape, they are supposed to support the natural
03:20curvature of the spine and thus increase not only comfort but also well-being on long journeys.
03:25According to Mazda, the aim is, among other things, to reduce head movements and minimize the risk of motion sickness.
03:35The cockpit is completely digital.
03:37The basic version has an instrument display measuring around 26 centimeters and a touch screen in the center console with a screen diagonal of 33 centimeters.
03:49In the higher trim levels, the infotainment display grows to around 40 centimeters.
03:54Google services such as Maps, the iSystem Google Gemini and a 360-degree camera system are directly integrated.
04:03At market launch, the new CX-5 will be offered exclusively with the so-called Esky Active G140 drive.
04:09This is a 2.5 liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine with mild hybrid technology, which produces 141 horsepower and provides a maximum torque of 238 newton meters.
04:23The sprint from 0 to 100 kilometers takes around 10.5 seconds.
04:28The engine is coupled to a newly tuned six-speed automatic transmission, which is supposed to ensure smoother gear changes.
04:34In addition, the system can deactivate two of the four cylinders at constant speed in order to reduce fuel consumption.
04:44According to the manufacturer, the average consumption is around 7.3L per 100 kilometers with front-wheel drive and 7.7L with wheel drive.
04:55A full hybrid version with the new Skyactiv-Z gasoline engine is planned from 2027.
05:00Mazda has already made numerous optimizations to the chassis.
05:07The suspension has been deliberately tuned to be softer, with improved damping being provided on both the front and rear axles.
05:15The aim, greater ride comfort and greater driving stability at the same time.
05:20The steering is more responsive, the accelerator pedal responds more sensitively.
05:24The all-wheel drive versions feature the well-known Gearshift Control Plus, which improves driving stability in curves by specifically intervening in the torque distribution.
05:35A lot has also been done in terms of noise insulation.
05:39A balancer shaft in the engine helps to minimize low-frequency vibrations and ensures a quieter interior feeling.
05:45A real advantage, especially on long journeys.
05:50Prices for the new Mazda CX-5 start at around âŹ35,000 in the so-called Primeline trim level.
05:58This basic version already comes with extensive standard equipment.
06:01This includes 17-inch lightweight alloy wheels, LED headlights, a digital instrument cluster measuring around 26 cm, and the aforementioned 33 cm infotainment display with Google connectivity.
06:16Wired smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a high-quality audio system with eight speakers.
06:25The seat covers are made of robust black fabric, complemented by a leather steering wheel and a leather gear knob.
06:33The new CX-5 also offers a generous range of assistance systems.
06:39An adaptive cruise control system with radar support, the so-called cruising and traffic support, a lane change assistant, and an attention assistant are already included as standard.
06:48Advanced sales for the new CX-5 will begin in October 2025.
06:55The new model will then roll into the showrooms of German master dealers in December.
