00:00there's no doubt that 21st century man has come a long way from our hunter-gatherer origins come
00:13on it's right here calling today to book the annual service on the boiler in Britain today
00:18we take food shelter and warmth for granted and most of us consume rather than create I want to
00:25find out what happens if you strip man of all the luxuries and the conveniences of modern living
00:31and then force them to fight for their very existence 13 British men have been abandoned
00:40on a remote Pacific desert island just a close to stand up in and a few basic tools
00:48these guys are going to be completely alone filming everything themselves I got it we've landed in the
01:01middle of an alien movie when pushed to the extreme do they still have what it takes to survive it will
01:09become Lord of the Flies you just won't decide to watch me I think we start sticking some of the
01:14weaker ones on a raft and send them off to another island it's so important to look after each
01:18other and never ever give up even when it's all going wrong nice one of them is going to say
01:24something I'm gonna let them can have it this is dangerous coming in coming in great
01:39like this is two weeks ago 13 British men were cast away on this remote Pacific Island
01:48come on nature give us some food they're alone with no provisions and only a handful of basic tools
01:55three of the men are trained and experienced cameraman it's not a piece of gear I couldn't pick up it
02:02it's just sand all over it but they are living under exactly the same conditions as everyone else
02:08so far they've had one big hunting success but now they're living through famine I would eat a scabby
02:21house in between two of the so much and frustrations have reached boiling point why can you overrule
02:31somebody by shouting nothing more to say the island has almost claimed its first victim
02:39he's an idiot how people died 13 people will not leave this island let's just see how shit goes down now
02:51i'm living in like epic forest epic voice yeah do you get to answer as an epic voice let me get to
02:57stop this no no no no no it's a lot of doggers just doggers a lot of doggers the men have now been
03:06scraping by on starvation rations for two weeks we decided to call this island surely island because
03:15well you know we keep saying surely there must be more fish surely there must be pigs
03:19surely there must be other things we can eat other than snails energy levels are at rock bottom
03:29today's been a struggle just physically physically hard struggle to do the simplest things we've got one
03:37fish that came out of the gill net on our beach this morning i've got three portions left for team
03:42malnutrition it's tony dino so the disappointment of not having enough carbs and food in general is kind
03:50of contributing to the mood in the camp i'm so hungry now i'm so hungry i want crisps galore i want that
03:59cookie dough i want pizza i want hot dogs sausage bacon eggs and i don't even like eggs that's because you
04:08just talk about food all day you're torturing yourself just pass me a coconut for me survival
04:17is feast or famine i think that's quickly becoming apparent there's no steadiness to our food there
04:23you go mate come on just that's it that's it we've got no means of preserving the food that we catch
04:35so when we get it we have to eat it and when we haven't got it we're in a famine situation that's
04:39that lovely coconut though it's not in the spot this is one of the most serious cases of hunger i've
04:45ever seen it's extreme i don't think it's going to end i remember as part of our combat survival training
04:55in the military one of the things i learned is actually just how hard work it is the business
05:00of surviving you know all day you're you're working to collect water find food repair your camp protect
05:07your fire find firewood you know it's a constant process and i think one of the key elements in a
05:12good survivor is a hard work ethic we need caramel meat you might be right right because the fish ain't
05:20coming they will bug it off rupert is determined to keep scouring the island for his toughest prey
05:28two weeks ago i killed a caiman and it fed all of us for i think three meals so it's um definitely a
05:34food source worth chasing we're ready to rock and roll i'm on this one fuck it man do it
05:43i know these people that are desperate to wrestle a caiman i don't see
05:48the need of it really i think we can sustain ourselves on snails and things
05:53this is caimanville it's now a straightforward uh find it catch it kill it eat it for rupert
06:01mike and chris hunting in the mangrove swamps is using a huge amount of precious energy i feel as
06:08if i'm climbing a mountain it's just becoming more and more difficult short breath weak legs feel as if
06:17they're not functioning but uh we need some food we need some decent food
06:26you've seen hiding all hair since that first one mind you if we did find mine we're too knackered to
06:30catch him yeah well stop whinging carry on
06:34not this filled in no time yeah it's easier the three of you it's got to be about over 100 in there
06:44already nice and easy meal really easy they're just everywhere
06:50saki ryan and joe gather snails the grim staple of the men's diet it tastes better every every day
06:56it's a shame only one calorie each there's certain people who have an eye for foraging you've got
07:02certain people who are better at physically catching things everybody who's here is able-bodied
07:07but some just work harder than others
07:15soz i'm just so tired babes i'm so tired
07:18devil makes work for idle hands you keep busy all day you keep your nose clean but you know if you
07:29don't keep busy then it's gonna bite you in the back side just in the last two three four days all
07:37i've seen of craig is is craig lying around and i think that's wrong it's bloody hard it's hard
07:43you want to do so much yet you haven't got your energy in order to do it
07:53he's not pulling his weight and at the moment he's on he's on a free ticket you know
07:58he's getting a free lunch every day
08:05literally i've progressed to being like monkeys so just scrabbling around on our hands and knees
08:08picking food apparently after searching for hours they've failed to find a caiman crocodile
08:16but they have discovered a few wild figs oh stood up ow oh fainting fainting
08:27um i assume it's dehydration and get to those beaches i think
08:31run them around before tide changes and hits us
08:33the men decide to return to camp but they've been out so long their way back through the mangrove has
08:40been cut off by the rising tide
08:44ahem to take an alternative route across a rocky coastline
08:51in the afternoon heat is at its zenith
08:56where the figs good question where are the figs this is a sign of how fucked up our brains have
09:05become and pick a whole bucket load on my hands and knees like monkeys and then wander off leaving the
09:10bucket there
09:13duh
09:14that's just a quick shift your back in it
09:17yep go go
09:19totally chris's fault though i mean he was carrying the buckets yeah
09:26six-year-old chris returns for the figs but it's a dangerous gamble
09:33with the tide rising at a meter an hour the route back to camp is rapidly becoming more difficult
09:41extreme hunger affects not only obviously your physical strength but also your decision-making ability
09:46mate and if there's doubt don't take the risk you'll only get it wrong once
09:58i am finally good to go got the figs back heading back to camp now it's about an hour's walk
10:05quite sure whether we're too late for this
10:09now approaching high tide the beach has disappeared
10:12oh mate you all right are we all right it rocks are lethal it's whiskey
10:29that's it it's a chasm of doom
10:32means the trouble with this route is we've got all these little gullies
10:36that it's just get worse and worse death defying jump
10:45this is going to test you ain't it mate i ain't doing that no sure sure 100 100 100 no milling
10:52it right if you're not sure mate don't do it it's a broken leg or worse
10:56so i'll go down and round hey three that bucket mate the pigs
11:03ah balls
11:11unwilling to risk the jump chris has no choice but to take his chances in the sea
11:16the currents on this stretch of shoreline can reach six knots powerful enough to pull even the
11:33stronger swimmer out to sea
11:35jumping the ravines rupert's made it ahead of the others
11:49okay okay let's move
11:54this is
11:54fucking dangerous
12:00has it made it as quickly as we can
12:06i'm really worried about this bit
12:11keep a really good hold hold hold let's go
12:14let's move
12:19coming in coming in grace
12:23oh god okay okay and again
12:36we're going to get a couple of happy chaps
12:48and then gone through hell that was pretty close to the edge
12:52well done chris
12:59the exhausted hunting party returned to camp with only a few figs to show for their efforts
13:06it's like it's been tough here at base
13:08all right dino what babe
13:11having a tough day yeah having a fiance day how are you we're good what did you get
13:19figs oh yeah there you go
13:22we staggered back into the camp and there is uh club 2130 all flat on the backs storing the bloody heads on
13:42a lot of people just sitting around doing all really they're quite happy to sit back and let
13:46people work around them and provide for them and decide where their mom or something i don't
13:51really want to get involved in a massive argument but it's coming to a little bit of a head i think
13:55slowly but surely you can see little cracks starting to appear and people are like boom boom
13:59like little little comments here and there are coming out and you're like oh judgy
14:04i've bitten my tongue long enough there's certain people that day after day do absolutely nothing and
14:12then come like little leeches with their bowls and don't even have their bloody decency to say thank
14:20you and you just think wow your moles hours like low as a snake's belly
14:34this is the life here guys well i feel a little kardashian laying here
14:41this is jokes i got a couple of sardines baking for dinner
14:46it's mid-morning the four youngest members of the group are sunbathing
14:53one of the team there and i won't say who just said
14:58i can't wait to get home to play on my playstation
15:03that is how different we are i cannot comprehend why you would look down there and go god i wish you
15:09i wish i was in my mom's house yeah you know in my bedroom playing on a playstation
15:16but it's fucking moronic isn't it
15:24how are we doing it af not too bad you're coming to out mate going for my daily exercise
15:29do you want to uh turn this net out for us instead of walking
15:33what's the worst thing that's gonna happen it's not gonna fall off is it
15:50i'm very very pissed off i've just been uh stopped by fletcher who all of a sudden has become a bit of a
15:56uh obviously become a doctor must take over from samsville um asking me why i can't help with a
16:04gill net explained that i've uh i've injured my foot his reply was what's the worst that could happen
16:11anything that's wrong with his toe his foot is the lazy body that's attached to it
16:17but he says he's hurt his foot and can't get in the water which i'm starting to lose sympathy and i
16:24think maybe it's actually laziness someone said to him could you do water and he's like i don't know
16:30maybe it's like that's some pride in yourself he's just idle and if he stayed here he'd
16:38slowly kill himself through idleness get off your lazy ass and do something people take the case
16:43like that it's just an insult to the rest of us i'm not going to hold my tongue i don't think
16:49do try rupert i'll try but it's difficult sam sometimes after weeks on the island it isn't
16:55just the younger group members that rupert has his differences with not much water left in that
17:01puddle guys sam me and him disagree on pretty much absolutely everything he's uh sort of sharing caring
17:08feeling emotive all that stuff i think i'm a lot more hard-nosed in life than than sam uh a little
17:14less forgiving 43 year old rupert lives in la where he moved to further his tv career i'm kind of
17:25divorced and starting a new chapter but rediscovering who i am again after 10 years of marriage i also had
17:31this weird fantasy about being shipwrecked or being a castaway um kind of robinson crusoe or the lord of
17:38the fly scenario kind of thing and i guess it's because it's a it's a way of challenging yourself
17:44and seeing what you're capable of i'm kind of hoping i come out of this with a sort of zen calmness
17:52everyone else is working their asses off in the sun sweating uh working your morning
17:57craig's over there having a nice little swim with dean like they're in a blue lagoon having a romantic
18:01holiday especially on firewood today i think he's done two small armfuls all day and the rest of the
18:05time just lying around but i don't think that you just start talking about you know if he's not
18:10going to pull his weight you should go because no no no you know we came on here as 13 guys we leave
18:14as 13 guys that's full stop look there's days and days of this now it's just every time you see him
18:18he's lying on the ground doing nothing asleep i just that winds me up sorry i have to say something
18:27craig have a word mate
18:34if you don't notice everybody else is kind of working and sweating and all that
18:38what have you done today i've just been down there i'm on firewood i've just been down there for
18:42a hundred beats i know i saw you walking down come back but you didn't come back with anything yeah
18:45yeah but i tried to find firewood there's a lot of firewood mate a walk down the beach and coming
18:48back with empty arms isn't really good is it did you get some i couldn't find any you can't find
18:54little sticks mate come on why are you here why are you here i don't know i asked my question
18:59i know i said that i've got a lot to go so i'm tucked off with it i know well don't want to wait
19:04i want to talk to you all we're asking is that you kind of make an effort to help with the group
19:10and that's kind of just i'm not seeing it i know you've had injuries and stuff like that's fair enough but
19:14you're walking around now and i just want to be able to see so all you want to do is i'm not
19:19bitching hey grow up don't walk away why are you here i doubt it because i seem to be doing a very
19:27different uh time on this island than you are so i don't want a camera in my face
19:31i don't know what fuck he thinks he is he's exactly the same as me on the island i don't
19:41care what job he does he's exactly the same as me on the island and he hasn't got no
19:46fucking right to come and speak to me like that and i walked away from him because my temper rises
19:51very quickly and you tell him yeah and that means oh that's how the deal is yeah that's a man way to do
19:58it
20:10i'm going no i bought nothing and go in and go in
20:15listen don't be rash tomorrow i'm off to my wonderful land of wheels
20:20craig don't do that mate craig mate listen buddy we'd be devastated if that happened
20:26sorry i'm not apologetic for it but uh i'm not
20:33the clash between rupen and craig has affected the group
20:38it's very easy to criticize other people very easy you know and i you know i could easily
20:43criticize some of the guys that like to lie on the beach and sunbathe and i can easily
20:46criticize the people that have a massive go at people which is completely out of turn
20:50i think both those things probably actually don't sit that well with me i just don't think that we
20:55should be sniping at each other and picking up on those things it's because it's only happening
20:59because we're hungry we're knackered we're spending 24 hours a day in each other's company
21:03and i just feel the group falling apart because that's my biggest fear here is that
21:07you know in this at this point when we've done so much it starts to break up and i that would just be a
21:13disaster for them
21:19the group has barely eaten anything in days
21:24i've assured this island has enough water animals and vegetation on it to keep the men alive
21:30but only if they have the ingenuity to find it catch it and kill it
21:36it seems to go quite quiet inland not much life
21:41rupert and the hunters are scavenging the forest for anything to eat
21:45so we can get down to the beach here again
21:54rupert look they got something
21:59that is what you call a yucca
22:04yes solid carbs mate wow solid carbs just one no mate the forest over there to somewhere over here
22:12really yeah mate and they're just popping out the ground everywhere welcome to the yucca forest
22:20that's the yucca right there this baby here the yucca has edible potato-like roots
22:25you wait till you get some good carbs in your belly very happy let's go and tell the boys
22:34for maximum efficiency really you want to be getting about 60 percent of your energy from carbohydrates
22:39and these yucca plants are actually some of the best carbohydrates known to man the men's bodies will
22:45turn them into energy far more quickly than the protein that they've been eating
22:50wake up you dozy bastards hang on i just heard something coming up in the background
22:56like this this sounds good you got some for you anyone for carbohydrate wow oh my god welcome to your
23:08first yucca meal tonight we eat like royalty oh my god
23:14oh my god if i don't get a drink of water i am going to pass out
23:30tangled in the fishing nets is another welcome discovery
23:33exactly what is it it's a big one it's a big one it's a big one watch out for that stinger
23:42holy cow that is massive
23:49we're going to eat the stingray is big enough to feed all 13 men
24:06wow it totally lifted spirits just when they needed lifting i think everyone was getting into survival
24:11slump i guess i think surviving in this environment is is feast feast and famine you know the waves of
24:17feast and famine yeah and today we're having a feast
24:27the promise of their first proper meal in weeks has brought a fragile peace to the camp
24:33we don't have champagne we don't have a dj but now it's party time
24:41oh look at all that meat man look a little bit like a haggis don't it a little bit i've never had
24:47haggis you should try catching them mate they are so difficult to catch what a haggis yeah but
24:53they've got one leg shorter than the other so they're going to go on go on mountains a lot easier
24:59really yeah they're crazy they're going to go on the right corner yeah yeah yeah you've got clockwise and
25:04anti-clockwise one and they're completely different species i've never seen a haggis yeah is there any
25:08haggis here no you only get them in the scottish islands sort of perfectly aren't they i'd say more
25:13mauve yeah i was going to say mauve well the animals mine it looks brown but then when you catch
25:17it in the sun it's got like this glint you know like so it's got high right dogs can eat essentially
25:22yeah it's a hairdresser's dream it really is yeah
25:24haggis is not an animal is it is it you're a lot of bastards sizzle look at that
25:39really good yeah we've finally got a meal with meat and veg
25:49that's good it's literally what dreams are made of
25:54after being deprived for weeks the men are now experiencing a serious carb high
26:04sam sees an opportunity for some team bonding i'd like to do some kind of fun stuff as a group like
26:10playing a game around us on the beach i'd like to just hack away up there and build a little chill
26:14out area where we can sit back and watch the sun go down i'd like to make a big bit of beach art
26:20that has actually no practical purpose at all i really would love to see a leatherback turtle i'd love
26:27that
26:32we just had a meeting about where we're at and i think there's kind of obviously two very different
26:36sides to the camp now they want to build sculptures they want to play rounders and i know where my
26:42priorities lie we're still at the basic hunter gatherer stage and we're living paycheck to paycheck
26:48we haven't got tomorrow's food it's out there and that sea hopefully stuck in the nets if it isn't
26:52we're fucked so as far as i'm really concerned the rest are in club fucking cookie land
27:05oh my grandfather's with my nez obviously they passed their digging skills onto me
27:12gotta love the welsh they do try the morning after their first meal of carb-rich yucca energy levels are
27:19high energy wise i feel like a new man out here um yeah woke up this morning with a real spring in
27:28my step and a real purpose everything changed this morning we've got food coming in we've got yucca
27:35which is there loads of it it's gonna keep us going it's a massive massive breakthrough up to now the
27:42group's all-consuming focus has been about food but humans require much more than just food and water to
27:48survive at what point do you try and move on from this hand-to-mouth existence and start trying to
27:54improve the quality of their lives i've just found this amazing bit of driftwood it's uh it's the sort
28:00of branches of a tree so we can just hang our coconuts all our cups i think it's a great idea
28:07you look quite good i'm using the day to feather our nest um just trying to make a few camp improvements
28:16trying to get this place looking good sam sam is the campus man on this island and given that dino's
28:27on the island that takes some doing yeah he's the gay straight bloke i know oh yeah that's rather nice
28:35that well done sam it's all shaping up isn't it what do you think to the uh the new pieces of
28:41furniture nice rupert turns his nose up at all sorts of things that i've done you know hat stand and
28:48coconut tree all these things for me are part of creating an environment that we want to live in
28:52that we're happy to live in but for him they're an unnecessary part of survival
28:55despite the big yucca find rupert continues to search for food at every opportunity
29:06ropes bring machete what you got what you got what do you think well that's not peter
29:13oysters no oysters mate yeah sweating i didn't come here to play house it's all very well
29:22making the camp look pretty and building little things to put mugs on and all that kind of stuff
29:25which is great and it looks nice but our priority should be finding food because i don't think we're
29:30out the woods here me huge and it's like i don't know we're just kind of sort of crossing their
29:37fingers and hoping and that's not really a way to survive that's uh gambling with your lives a bit
29:41i mean sam's building a swing we
29:45no one's cooking none of the other shitter needs doing around it's just like come on
29:57with yucca supplies in camp running low rupert takes a team to harvest some more
30:04there's a sweet smell around here isn't it yeah something's rotting a little something is
30:08rotten yeah soft and squishy
30:14rotten the harsh tropical environment has played a cruel trick on the men
30:20many of the tubers have rotted in the ground and there's hardly any yucca left look at the state of
30:26that mate it's wrong it's absolutely wrong minging that is not edible we've got one day of the upper
30:34left so that's just gone bleak again we ain't great we're very short of food we're out of yucca
30:40i think it's kind of got to a slight i told you so point but i never want to say i told you so
30:44because that's very annoying when people do that but there's no food today
30:52is it all fucked because we're on an island i'm going to try and save it
30:56i was really shocked we thought we would get on top of the food i think you know brought everyone
31:02back down to reality and maybe everyone realized that okay we need more food i'm going to try and
31:06get as many pieces into everyone's bowl as possible so everyone gets the same amount
31:12sake dishes up the very last of the yucca
31:16i don't think we'll survive well without any carbohydrates it's the one food that everybody
31:21gets a hell of a lot of energy out of the yucca which really genuinely lifts everybody's spirit
31:25it's such a shame there's so little left
31:34it's pretty obvious to me that we're running out of food they've searched everywhere we're running out
31:42of energy we need food and we need it for tonight in camp the men discuss the best way to feed the group
31:51do you think caiman is an important food source it's a good source of protein it's not fish and it
31:55tastes nice for rupert hunting down an old enemy could replace a yucca and feed the camp i think the
32:02caiman kind of catapulted us from sitting around eating snails and nothing to giving us a big energy
32:07boost for doing a whole load of stuff so who's to say that couldn't happen again it is not necessary
32:11for the survival of our community to kill caiman gill nets have provided you know more protein than
32:17than many many caimans combined we might get two or three days of no fish could be on snails again
32:22every night who wants that it's it's about stepping forward isn't it and stepping upwards and moving on
32:27trying to find one of these prehistoric toothed beasts that could uh rip off your arm and maybe
32:33catch one and return a hero it's become a little bit of an obsession what do you reckon kip i think
32:39you're full of ship i shouldn't wish to be hunting those pink elephants they're the ones that are
32:44bugging me realities are still very much kind of living hand to mouth and there's no guaranteed food
32:50source that they can always rely on but my view is the real enemy is actually the disunity in the camp
32:56and i am joining fletch and cb on the search for more food each time a group heads to the mangroves
33:12it takes up two or three men um it takes up a huge amount of energy it takes up water
33:18and it takes up time those resources could be used
33:20far better you know we could catch fish if you can knock down coconuts we could pick snails all the
33:27sort of stuff that's easily available on this island
33:32basaki and his team of snail gatherers think the answer to feeding the group lies on the rocky shoreline
33:40snail gathering has probably been one of the most important jobs we've had since we've been on the
33:43island yeah i completely agree when times get hard you've got to knuckle down and make sure
33:48that you have the bare necessities the glory of the caiman hunt or the full belly of the snails
33:53actually the full belly of the snails
33:58i just love the adventure and trekking through the jungle hacking away it's the nature of being here
34:03and surviving ah it's muddy that's really muddy this is a stupid plan this is where the food is
34:15gentlemen to get the food we have to come in here look at that that's unbelievable isn't it
34:22all right onwards
34:28yeah a little stuck in the mud and the problem this is that we're moving about
34:330.1 miles an hour the caiman can probably skitter across this stuff in about 20 miles an hour so right
34:39now they have us at quite a considerable advantage rupert's just an egotistical alpha male
34:48wannabe i'd say he's constantly imposing himself upon the smaller people that he deems aren't as
34:53valuable as he is he wants to be rambo let him play rambo but that's pointless that's detrimental to the group
35:01success
35:06oysters and figs but oysters and figs are not enough for rupert he's got a new idea
35:14we're gonna go caiman hunting at night because the only way i think we're gonna catch them now
35:18nights uh is when they hunt that's their element the danger side of it goes up considerably by doing that
35:25but it's a risk i think that's worth taking
35:31tonight saggy me and dan are going out in the swamps to find caiman it's not gonna work pipe dream
35:39that's not a pipe dream no no i don't think it really got one so
35:43i'm just gonna say that i've opted out of caiman hunting i'm heading back tonight there you go
35:48that's sorted then i've already been there done that so to speak and i've got plans with these guys to do
35:53various things saki suddenly announced i'm no longer anything to do with the so-called caiman
35:59hunting which um i don't know struck me as kind of somewhat arrogant he didn't seem to have the
36:06balls to talk to me personally and say he wasn't going to do it and come and do it i don't know why
36:09he doesn't want to do it he hasn't said he hasn't spoken to me since to be honest i haven't spoken to
36:12him look out below bringing in all the foods on a day-to-day basis that's far more important than a
36:18game but you can't even see they haven't seen one and yet they're still pursuing it because they're
36:24going to make glory hunting
36:33i just hope i don't come across as too kind of crazed uh loner but long term i don't know probably
36:39agree with me when they're starving so i think i'd like to feel i'm still right
36:43this time along with chris and mike someone else is up for the thrill of the hunt just about to get
36:51ready now to go out into the mangrove for a bit of a night payment hunting um
36:57some of the guys were going and uh i just thought it sounded too exciting to pass her well then let's go
37:04see you later see you later guys good luck boys what's your name man
37:12i am excited by the prospect
37:16from nighttime caiman hunting like any red-blooded male
37:21but uh it seems like a bit of a insane expedition really
37:26in the tidal mangrove swamps at night the caiman crocodiles themselves will be hunting their prey
37:38i can say is that they don't stand a chance in the water
37:45because we can't wrestle it in wasting water this is crazy
37:48we're just slowly making our way through the mangrove swamp looking to see whether we can see the
37:59reflection of any caiman in their torches nothing so far but we can hear them inside the mangrove all the
38:06time everywhere we go there's just little sounds like the rustling noises that slaps in the water it's really really spooky
38:17what is that something quite big just shot past my feet
38:21oh gee look look look look that's him him
38:24look look look look look look look it's him him there see him
38:43Rupert and the men are on a dangerous night hunt for caiman crocodile in the pitch black mangroves
38:49well there's something i can hear it
39:05there's a lot of funny noises there is isn't there it's pretty eerie there's a lot of splashes going on
39:13the trails gone cold
39:28everyone good to carry on
39:29on this week's episode of the clueless caiman hunters the clueless caiman hunters decide to go
39:42into a mangrove swamp attempting to catch a crocodile with their bare hands
39:49stay tuned to see how you get their leg bit more
39:53do that
39:58i'm obsessed
40:02midlife crisis
40:07after an hour of fruitless searching some of the hunting party are starting to have their doubts
40:12clueless caiman hunters
40:17none of us have got a clue have we
40:19no
40:20no that's the whole point of this trip is to maybe try and work out
40:23do you think if we've got a doctor a director a businessman and an it collectively we still know
40:30enough you see that is the intrepid british spirit
40:33is there likely to be one on this peninsula it'll be one uh 30 clicks in that direction
40:3930 clicks wow it's like a tropic thunder should we have a cup of tea
40:47but that's still hope and uh you never know but we got one it's something yeah
40:53but whilst we're stood here having this conversation they're all kind of out there playing cards smoking
40:58cigars and drinking whiskey
41:01there's come those idiot british guys again yeah they killed old jack the other day
41:06flame jack yeah lame jack
41:12dreams of another caiman crocodile dashed the men head back to camp wow check this out
41:18very fresh big big old turtle track down down what done it's here
41:28serious you can see him over there yeah no he's digging in there come here come here oh my god
41:34oh my gosh it's huge wow beautiful thing
41:44the endangered green sea turtle has come onto the island to lay her eggs
41:50very rare so special
41:52that's phenomenal just a huge huge privilege to see this wow
42:01speechless
42:02ryan was desperate to see the thing it's food for the soul is that mate
42:06it's food for the soul
42:08ryan's gonna be gutted oh mate yes i almost think we should not tell him
42:12you don't get your ass out of camp you don't go and see shit
42:17don't forget it hey that's
42:21that was awesome and we're not allowed to eat those right
42:26after the failed night hunt most of the group are now convinced
42:37that pursuing crocodile is a waste of time and energy
42:43it's nice to have an audience when you work
42:44and for the naysayers i think oh it's pointless and all that um if you don't try you don't succeed
42:51and uh they're obviously trying very hard just to sit around the camp and do nothing
42:55um and they're succeeding at that they're doing very well at that in fact
42:57what are the chances of a lovely cup of tea
43:01news of last night's turtle sighting has spread
43:04like i said it worked it was a big two beautiful thing mate i couldn't give a
43:08shit i'll google it
43:11i'll happily google to about turtle i would rather sleep i've not slept in three days
43:16and we're working out about a turtle man
43:23i can't believe i've been saying since day one i'm seeing the turtles was the most important thing
43:28to me on this trip i said if i see one of them i will die happy
43:32five guys got three meters away from them and didn't come back and get me genuinely mate i
43:37remember thinking oh ryan would love to see this but you know we were just worried that we'd
43:41disturb it too much and you know we didn't want to go and wake people out those are the reasons mate
43:46i know you can spend a lifetime trying to see those and fire
43:48fuck off i will never forgive any of you right
43:56i was a little bit naughty uh i have to admit a confession
43:58i couldn't quite help myself i innocently started talking about how wonderful the turtle was well
44:03ryan if you're gonna sit there in meetings and call us going out at night and do all that kind
44:06of stuff a pointless exercise and a waste of time and a pipe dream then why the
44:12fuck should we come and get you you never believe what that arsehole just said to me
44:15who rupert and he's like oh that turtle was so amazing last night i can't believe it you can
44:21spend your whole life looking for them and fail the guy's a fucking can't believe it ryan ryan
44:30i shouldn't have to worry about childish reactions from people like that should i
44:33he missed out tough um i have very little sympathy for him on this one he needs to grow up or
44:38fuck off
44:43rupert all his negativity that he's expressed over the last couple of days attacking craig he's really
44:48attacking ryan you know taking writing childish when actually doing childish things himself just
44:54things that are completely unhelpful i really hope these guys can come together and build an effective
45:00team but the reality is when you're tired and you're hungry the more primal side of us comes out
45:06then you learn what people are really like it's either all or nothing with rupert it's either his
45:12way or no way i would say the group has outgrown rupert the human side of it starting to kind of just
45:18bear down a little bit on me um if i could get rid of half the people here then it would be a lot better
45:24i don't understand why why be why be so difficult it's an age thing mate it must be an age thing or
45:30hang-ups that he's got he has to be right all the time yeah he's worried he's fine so it's to pick on
45:35people that he thinks they're not going to argue what's the point
45:41for all of the fact that we've been together as a tribe and we've collaborated my prediction is
45:49that if we had to stay for longer the group would actually split in half yeah then it'd be
45:53interesting to see how half of them actually fed themselves when the people actually get all the
45:56food yeah decided just to look after themselves of like actually if you're not looking for it and
45:59not contributing towards that why should you get any um i think we start sticking some of the
46:03the weaker ones on a raft and send them off to another island i i thought i find it a little
46:07unfortunate that you you see the world like that it will become lord of the flies and they end up
46:11killing the rest of them um uh and they finally get rescued but it humans then go back to their
46:17fucking savage past and they're thinking that when it comes to desperation and hunger um it will get nasty
46:22next on the island what did you just do a wanker side to ask me fuck you
46:29as the end approaches the meeting's not over yet you dickhead tensions rise you're just full of
46:35bullshit i can't be bothered to fucking out of here anymore don't take the fish it makes it easy to
46:42take the fish why not take the fish the guy's still physically declining oh my lord the pipe of
46:49justice something is going to have to change if they're going to stay the course welcome to the
46:54first shorley island election so that's on next week when the boys return at the later time of 10 o'clock
47:02but if that's too long a wait for an extreme adventure you can catch mr grills training in
47:07the harsh conditions of the sahara over on more for next he finds out what it's really like when
47:12you escape to the french foreign legion but next up man versus weird simon farnaby meets a human fish
47:19in croatia
