00:00Welcome to the video from Car Magazine Tuning Blog, where we introduce you to the facelift
00:12of the Ford Equator for the year 2024. This plug-in hybrid SUV was recently presented
00:18at the Guang Auto Show in China and brings with it some notable innovations that could
00:22also make it interesting for the European market. The revised Ford Equator impresses with a new
00:31plug-in hybrid drive system that offers a long electric range and impressive overall system
00:35performance. The drive system combines a 1.5L turbo gasoline engine with 152 horsepower with
00:44a powerful electric motor that delivers 221 horsepower. This results in an impressive
00:49system output of 367 horsepower, accompanied by a maximum torque of 555 Nm.
00:58Particularly noteworthy is the lithium-iron phosphate battery manufactured by the renowned battery
01:03manufacturer KTL with a capacity of 8.4 kWh. It enables a purely electric range of 110 km
01:10according to the CLTC cycle. This is sufficient for most daily journeys without using the combustion
01:18engine. Another highlight is the fast charging capability. The battery can be charged from
01:2530% to 80% in just 14 minutes. The exterior has also undergone significant changes. The front
01:33end of the equator has been redesigned and now features a wider grille and slimmer LED headlights.
01:38At the rear, new LED taillights with a continuous light bar create a modern and dynamic look.
01:48The vehicle has grown by 15mm to an overall length of 4m and 920mm, achieved thanks to the redesigned
01:56bumpers. The 29-inch Cyclone design alloy wheels complete the exterior and give the SUV a sleek and robust look.
02:05Inside, the digital cockpit with 21.3-inch screens remains, while the redesigned front seats provide
02:14improved comfort. The second row continues to offer comfortable individual seats, and the third row,
02:22with a folding bench seat, transforms the equator into a full-fledged six-seater.
02:26The choice of materials impresses with Dynamica Veller's leather and wood inlays, giving the interior a
02:34high-quality feel. Ford has also further improved build quality to meet the demands of modern families.
02:42The Ford Equator sprints from 0 to 100 km per hour in just 7.7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 180 km per hour.
02:56With a total range of 1,205 km, the vehicle is suitable for both everyday urban use and long journeys.
03:03Prices start at 206,800, which equates to approximately 27,100 euros.
03:14This positions the equator in the mid-price segment and offers excellent value for money.
03:19So far, the equator is mainly available in China and is produced by the JMC-Ford Joint Venture in
03:27collaboration with Jungling Motors. Ford is following the global trend toward plug-in hybrids with large
03:34batteries and long electric range, making the equator particularly future-proof.
03:38While the Ford Edge has had only limited success in Europe, the equator could also attract interest
03:45here thanks to its attractive design and technical advancements.
