00:00Welcome to our video from the Car Magazine Tuning Blog on the topic of the MGH's Plug-in Hybrid 2024.
00:12You can find the link to read the article in our magazine in the video description.
00:18The second generation MGH's Plug-in Hybrid, now known as the HS, represents a serious alternative to models such as the VW Tyron and the Dacia Bixer.
00:27MGH, a brand with Chinese roots, has already established itself in Germany with the best sales figures and plans to continue this success story with up to 250 dealers and workshops by 2025.
00:37The current focus is on the Plug-in Hybrid with an impressive system output of 272 horsepower.
00:42The new MGH's impresses with a sleek design that does not immediately stand out from the crowd despite a striking combustion grille.
00:57The shark nose remains particularly striking, while the running boards under the doors look rather unusual.
01:05With a length of 4.67 meters, the HS is positioned in the same segment as the Toyota Ruff 4, Skoda Kodiak and the two newcomers Dacia Bixer and VW Tyron.
01:15While these models often offer 7 seats, the MGH's sticks with F seats.
01:22The basic equipment includes rear parking sensors and a camera, which certainly justifies the entry-level price.
01:29However, for a more comprehensive view, the 360 degrees camera is available in the top-of-the-range luxury trim, which costs €2,000 more.
01:3719-inch alloy wheels are fitted as standard.
01:42Inside, the MGH's gives a dignified, modern impression without unnecessary playfulness.
01:48The choice of materials is high-quality, even if the buttons on the steering wheel are somewhat unclearly defined and the letters on the gear selector are quite small.
01:58A striking Chinese touch continues in the camera facing the driver.
02:01The central display consists of two 12.3-inch screens that merge seamlessly into one another and offer good representation, including a map behind the steering wheel.
02:15The design offers ample space and the trunk can hold between 41 and 102 liters, supported by a generously-sized boot without exterior mirrors.
02:24Under the hood of the MGH's is a powerful plug-in hybrid drive.
02:31The 1.5-liter gasoline engine delivers 142 horsepower, supported by an electric motor with 194 horsepower.
02:39The battery has a capacity of 21.4 kWh and is powered by a 61 kW generator.
02:46Unfortunately, MG has dispensed with a CCS connection, so that only a Type 2 plug with a maximum of 6.6 kW can be used.
02:54According to the manufacturer, the battery cannot be completely discharged, probably due to the frequent recuperation in hybrid mode.
03:01The MG HS offers a total of six driving modes, including pure electric operation and parallel operation of the gasoline engine and electric motor.
03:09In practice, this means pleasantly quiet progress, with the engine speed often remaining at just 1 to 500 revolutions per minute thanks to the support of the electric motor.
03:20There are mixed reactions to the assistance systems.
03:25Many users criticize the frequent acoustic signals and the warnings from the driver's camera.
03:30Although this can be deactivated, it is still perceived as annoying.
03:34The onboard computer is a positive feature, indicating a consumption of 5.9 L after around 100 km when the battery is discharged.
03:44In terms of equipment and price, the MG HS is positioned extremely competitively.
03:49The PIR petrol engine starts at 27,990 euros in Germany with a manual transmission and solid standard equipment.
03:57With an automatic transmission, the price increases by 2,000 euros.
04:02The plug-in hybrid is priced between 39,900 euros and 41,990 euros and offers a generous warranty of 7 years or 150,000 km.
04:12The PIR Vion also covers the battery and engine.
04:17This pricing represents a clear challenge to the competition and makes the MG HS an attractive option in the SUV market.

04:42The PIR Vion is a production of the MG HS.
