00:21The Californian startup Taylor Trucks has developed an innovative concept together with Abterra Motors that could revolutionize the automotive industry.
00:30The Tello MT1 is set to be launched on the market as a small electric pickup that is partially self-recharged with solar energy.
00:38What's particularly exciting is that buyers can choose between three solar panel configurations, including modules on the cab roof, a solar cover for the loading area, or a camper shell with integrated panels.
00:51Each panel is said to have an output of up to 200 watts and can therefore generate 1 to 2 kilowatt hours of electricity per day.
00:58With an energy consumption of just 200 to 300 watt hours per mile, this could actually increase the range.
01:06At around 3.86 meters long, the Tello MT1 is shorter than many classic pickups and therefore offers advantages, especially in urban areas.
01:15However, some important questions remain unanswered, such as the exact range without solar support or the charging time at a power outlet.
01:26There is also no information about the final price yet.
01:29Only the symbolic down payment of $152, around 140 euros, for a pre-order has been communicated so far.
01:39The idea of combining electric vehicles with solar energy is not new.
01:43The German startup Sono Motors presented a similar concept a few years ago, but was unable to achieve success despite high investments.
01:54Whether Tello trucks can avoid this fate remains to be seen.
01:58Nevertheless, interest seems to be high.
02:02Over 4,500 pre-orders have already been recorded and the market launch is planned for 2025.
