00:00Welcome to our latest video from the Car Magazine Tuning Blog, where we introduce you to the
00:10impressive NIO ET7 electric sedan. Since 2023, NIO has been competing with market leaders such as
00:18the Tesla Model S and the Mercedes EQs with the high-tech ET7 sedan. The purchase prices for
00:24Germany have finally been set. The ET7 starts at 96,900 euros and offers a range of up to 580
00:32kilometers, depending on the selected battery capacity. Up until now, NIO had limited its
00:38range to SUVs, but with the ET7, the Chinese company is expanding its portfolio to include
00:44an elegant sedan that is clearly positioned as a flagship. With a length of just over 5 meters,
00:49the ET7 competes directly with established models such as the Tesla Model S, the Mercedes IQ and EQS,
00:57and the Porsche Tayan. The design of the IT7 is deliberately restrained and also impresses with
01:05an excellent drag coefficient of 0.21, which is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also
01:10aerodynamically efficient. The NIO ET7 is available exclusively with all-wheel drive,
01:17realized by two powerful electric motors. A 180 kilowatts motor provides the drive at the front
01:25axle, while a 30 kilowatts unit supplements the power at the rear. Together, this results in an
01:31impressive system output of 480 kilowatts that corresponds to 653 horsepower. The maximum torque
01:38is an impressive 850 newton-m, which gives the ET7 impressive acceleration. NIO promises a time of just
01:463.8 seconds for the standard sprint, a real powerhouse on the roads. The dimensions of the ET7 are equally
01:54impressive. With an overall length of 5098 millimeters, a wheelbase of 360 millimeters and a
02:02width of 1,987 millimeters, the sedan offers generous space for the driver and passengers.
02:08The interior design in particular focuses on minimalism and high comfort. Sustainable materials
02:16such as renewable rattan and karun characterize the interior and create a pleasant and environmentally
02:21friendly atmosphere. Decorative elements made of karun lend the interior a natural elegance,
02:28while the generous space both in the front and in the back ensures a comfortable ride.
02:32A special highlight of the ET7 is the digital assistant NOMI, which is integrated as a small
02:40display face in the center console and communicates interactively with the passengers.
02:46The vehicle is controlled via a 12.8-inch touchscreen, which can be operated intuitively.
02:53Thanks to the 1.9-square-meter panoramic screen, the rear passengers also have a clear view of the sky,
02:59which makes the driving experience even more pleasant. The first 7.1-inch sound system to be
03:06installed in a car also provides an impressive audio experience while driving. Another exciting
03:12feature of the ET7 is the battery technology. The basic model is equipped with a 75-kilowatt-hours
03:18battery, which provides a range of 385 to 445 kilometers according to WLTP. The 100-kilowatts
03:26version extends this range to an impressive 505 to 580 kilometers. In the future, NEO is even
03:33planning a completely new 150-kilowatt-hours battery, which should enable a range of over
03:391,000 kilometers. A special feature of the ET7 is the ability to swap batteries at NEO's unique
03:47battery swapping stations. NEO also announced that the ET7 will be equipped with solid-state batteries
03:55in the future, which can achieve an energy density of up to 360-watt-hours per kilogram.
04:02This is around 40% more than the batteries currently available from Tesla.
04:07NEO is also setting the highest standards in terms of technology.
04:12The ET7 is equipped with four orange chips from NVIDIA, which enable a computing power of
04:18106 tensor operations per second. These chips are the heart of the new onboard computer,
04:24which NEO calls Atom. NEO is breaking new ground in autonomous driving with the ET7.
04:31The vehicle is currently at level 2 autonomy, but the hardware for at least level 3 is already
04:36installed and generously dimensioned. In addition to a laser sensor in the watchtower position
04:43above the windshield, the ET7 has 11 video cameras with a resolution of 8 megapixels,
04:49which is a significant advantage compared to the 1.2 megapixels of Tesla's cameras.
04:56The entire system, which NEO calls Aquila, is said to be available for a monthly fee of
05:01around 90 euros according to the original announcement. Prices and battery models also vary. NEO charges
05:08at least 6,900 euros for the ET7 in Germany, and this does not include the battery. The 75 kilowatts
05:16battery can be purchased for either a one-time payment of 12,000 euros or for a monthly rental
05:21of 169 euros. The 100 kilowatt hours energy storage system costs a one-time fee of 21,000 euros
05:30or 89 euros twice a month. However, only tenants of the 75 kilowatt hours version currently have the
05:38option of swapping the batteries at the power swap stations. ET7 customers also benefit from several
05:44privileges that sometimes cost extra for other NEO models. A lifetime warranty, a free wallbox for home
05:52use, a lifetime charging service, a lifetime mobility guarantee and lifetime online functionalities.
06:00The first impression of the NEO ET7 in the design studio is overwhelming.
06:04The comm lines of the over 5 meters long sedan cleverly combine the typical brand face with
06:11split headlight units at the front with a flat hatchback body.
06:17Despite the flat roofline, the ET7 retains a classic boot lid, which lends the sedan timeless
06:23elegance. For hobby holiers, the limited variability of the rear seat backrests may be a disadvantage.
06:29However, the hatch to the front offers a practical solution for transporting ski equipment or golf clubs.
06:38When entering the ET7, the electrically extendable door handles are impressive,
06:43which merge seamlessly into the frameless side windows and open the way into the interior.
06:51There is generous space for legs and shoulders in the rear, although headroom can be somewhat
06:55restricted due to the flat roofline, especially for taller people.
07:02The increased interior height under the panoramic glass roof, however, creates an airy sense of space
07:08up front, while the cockpit is deliberately flat and understated. The air vents are discreetly hidden
07:15in the dashboard, giving the interior a clean and minimalist look. The sustainable Karun material,
07:22which looks like wood veneer, offers a pleasant feel and underlines the ET7's environmentally friendly
07:28concept. The technical displays, including a 10.8-inch display behind the two-spoke steering wheel
07:36and a large 12.8-inch monitor in the center console, are easy to read and intuitive to use.
07:43The AI-supported voice assistant Nomi contributes to user-friendliness by taking over simple tasks such as
07:49playing music and occasionally waving friendly in the driver's direction.
07:55In conclusion, it can be said that the NIO ET7 electric sedan offers an impressive package of
08:00performance, technology and design. With its long range, advanced battery technologies and numerous
08:08comfort features, it sets new standards in the electric sedan segment.
