00:00Good morning Aptera Fans, Steve here.
00:02I'd like you to come join us on our first Aptera Road Trip
00:05with myself and some of the crew that's off camera.
00:08We're starting off in Flagstaff, Arizona here today,
00:11this morning, this snowy morning.
00:13We're already charging at 300 watts just from the sun
00:15and we're about to start driving on the old Route 66,
00:18go see some sights along the way and take you with us.
00:21So, come join us.
00:24See you later.
00:30I think this is the first video footage we have of Aptera driving on the highway.
00:52This is a PI build, so this is basically what we're going to be building,
00:58so it's pretty cool.
01:00Alright guys, just a heads up.
01:06The first stop on our route is going to be Arizona.
01:10I'm not sure if we're going to have time to go into the park,
01:12but let's at least go check it out.
01:14I really like this big panoramic windshield that we have,
01:28because you can see really far and wide.
01:32You can see the mountains, you can see the valleys,
01:34and it's just like a big picture window that you have in front of you,
01:36so it's really cool to be behind it.
01:38I hardly feel the bumps.
01:41The suspension is handling it.
01:43You know, I would say the suspension is working overtime because of some of these bumps,
01:48but I really don't feel it.
01:49They've done a great job, the guys at the DC.
01:51And our guys here, they've been tuning the crap out of this thing.
01:54So yeah, we took Aptera out on I-40 to start, and we stayed on it for quite a while, I think, until Seligman.
02:06Then we got on Route 66 from there, and we've been on Route 66 since then.
02:22And it's a fantastic road because it's not very traveled, and the scenes are just out of this world.
02:28I mean, it's so nice.
02:30So it's kind of, you know, it's the path not really taken,
02:33and that's one of the reasons we wanted to do it this way.
02:36When Route 66 was first proposed in the 1920s,
02:39the idea of a single continuous highway linking Chicago to Los Angeles seemed almost impossible.
02:46But visionaries like Cyrus Avery pushed forward, believing in something bigger than the road itself,
02:52believing in what it could unlock from the world.
02:56And they did it.
02:57Route 66 became one of the most iconic highways in America,
03:01proving that what once seemed improbable could become inevitable.
03:07I think about that a lot with Aptera.
03:10We're building something people say can't be done.
03:13History shows us the boldest ideas, the ones that challenge the status quo,
03:18are the ones that truly change the world.
03:20Yeah, there's a general store down here on the right on Route 66 that I want us to stop at.
03:27I think they've got beef jerky and a lot of old cars to take pictures of.
03:31Hey guys, here we are at the same rest stop here at Hackberry Route 66.
03:36It's a lot warmer than it was up at Flagstaff, which is why I'm not wearing my hoodie anymore.
03:41But we're on our way to Kingman and Lake Havasu and further.
03:45But the vehicle's been doing great.
03:47We've seen up to 520 watts charging from the solar panels.
03:52And look, it's kind of overcast today.
03:54This wasn't our chosen day to come because of overcast,
03:57but we're just having a fun time seeing all the sights and getting lots of good footage.
04:02Hey, I'm feeling pretty good with the charge and the vehicle.
04:09I don't want to make any more stops.
04:11Let's just keep going until we get all the way to Lake Havasu.
04:21I've never been to Route 66 before.
04:24I've always seen it in movies and, you know, books and read about it.
04:28But to be here for the first time in a vehicle that we built,
04:33for all of us to be here together, it's pretty amazing.
04:38We're in sunny Lake Havasu, Arizona.
04:41We started this morning from a very cold Flagstaff.
04:45And now we're on our way to Blythe, California.
04:47So it's been a great trip so far.
04:48We just had a very late lunch.
04:51And looking forward to getting back to our families tonight.
04:58I've been dreaming of this moment for over 20 years,
05:03driving in the most efficient vehicle on the road,
05:06watching the sights go by.
05:08I got emotional just taking it all in.
05:11This company, this idea, it's real.
05:14It's visceral.
05:16And I'm just so proud of each and every person
05:19who helped make this dream a reality.
05:21We have the chance to make a real change on how the world moves.
05:27The road hasn't been easy.
05:29It's been painful, difficult,
05:32and it's brought me to my breaking point sometimes.
05:35But being in this moment right now,
05:38I can say it's all been worth it.
05:40We're wrapping up our trip today from Flagstaff back home to California.
05:45We stopped somewhere here in the Imperial Valley
05:48just to take a video outside,
05:50but it was still light so you could see everything.
05:52We went over 300 miles today from Flagstaff
05:54to somewhere out past the Imperial Valley.
05:57It was great seeing people's reactions.
05:59Almost everybody that drove by us on the highway
06:01had their cameras out.
06:03They were taking pictures of us.
06:05We were mixing it up with the 18-wheelers
06:07and other cars on the freeway the entire time,
06:09driving at pretty high speeds at some time.
06:11So it was great to see the vehicle perform in those conditions
06:14in the wind and the curves and the highway
06:16and in the calm country roads like here.
06:18So it's been a great trip,
06:20and I look forward to updating you soon.
06:22When I first saw the Spaceship One launch,
06:24it inspired me to start Aptero
06:26because I realized that a small team
06:29could get a rocket into space.
06:31A small, dedicated team could build a vehicle here on Earth, too.
06:35Do I wish we had the ability to move faster?
06:38Absolutely.
06:39But we're making this vehicle come to life on a shoestring budget
06:42with a small team that's dedicating their life to our mission.
06:46I feel we're at the forefront of something truly revolutionary.
06:50We're not just fighting an uphill battle anymore.
06:53We're standing at the edge of something incredible,
06:56ready to break through.
06:58To all of you who've supported us,
07:00my commitment is this.
07:01We're not stopping.
07:02We're moving forward with more energy and more passion than ever.
07:06The road ahead is an open highway,
07:09and the future is ours to shape.
07:11Stay in shape!
07:12The last one,
07:27oneannoying sure
07:29is near the only area of this day.
