00:00Welcome to the video from the Auto Magazine Tuning Blog, where today we're going to talk
00:11about the Lightfood Solar Scooter from Otherlab. You can find the link to read the article in our
00:17magazine in the video description. The Lightfood is an innovative electric scooter that stands
00:23out due to its unique body with integrated solar cells. These 120 watt modules on both
00:29sides of the scooter charge the 48 volt battery with a capacity of 1.1 kilowatt hours while driving
00:35or stationary. Under optimal conditions, this can generate up to 30 kilometers of additional range
00:42per day. With a fully charged battery, the total range is around 60 kilometers.
00:51The scooter was originally developed by Edward Hage Kist, an engineer from Australia,
00:56who wanted to create a sustainable and easy-to-maintain vehicle for regions with high
01:00levels of solar radiation and limited charging infrastructure. Later, the Innovation Lab Otherlab
01:08from the USA supported the further development and marketing. The Lightfood is the result of
01:15this Australian-American collaboration, which involved a small core team from San Francisco,
01:19New York City, Washington DC, Australia and Taiwan. The scooter reaches a top speed of 32 kilometers per
01:28hour. This is because it can also be legally used on bike paths in the USA, where the speed limit is
01:3620 kilometers per hour. The Lightfoot is equipped with 2,750 watt electric motors, which are designed to
01:45easily handle inclines. Despite its slender design, it is designed for two people and offers enough
01:52space for helmets or shopping with a waterproof storage compartment of 45.2 L. Another highlight
01:59of the scooter is its easy maintenance. Standardized and easily replaceable motorcycle parts are used,
02:06which makes repairs uncomplicated. In the USA, the Lightfood Solar scooter is offered for a price of
02:134,700 euros. It is not yet known whether and when it will be available in Germany. Were you excited
