00:00We are building electric vehicles because trendy kids are making electric vehicles to save our lives.
00:26To save it from all those who aren't self-driving.
00:28Everyone else keeps what that's why we doing.
00:45Welcome to the video from the Car Magazine team blog.
00:47Today we're talking about a topic that moves a lot of car enthusiasts.
01:00The new Dodge Charger Daytona.
01:10This car is causing a lot of discussion because it breaks with some of the traditions that define the classic muscle car.
01:20Instead of the well-known V8 engine, Dodge is now opting for electric drives.
01:24A decision that is causing excitement, but also discussion.
01:28For those who haven't noticed, the German Charger has left its iconic V8 engine behind.
01:35That's a huge change for a car that was always seen as a muscle cart.
01:39The days of howling, supercharged V8 engines like in the Hellcat or Demon are over.
01:47And whether these model names will ever return in electric form remains to be seen.
01:51Instead, Dodge is now offering the Charger with a Hurricane inline six-cylinder engine.
01:57The entry-level version of the new combustion engine comes with 420 horsepower and 637 Nm of torque from a three-cylinder twin-turbo engine.
02:07Those who want more power can opt for the more powerful version with 550 horsepower and 746 Nm of torque.
02:18Both variants are likely to use a new eight-speed transmission based on the fourth-generation ZF and can be used flexibly with rear-wheel drive, all-wheel drive, and 4x4 drivetrains.
02:31But the real stars of the new Dodge Charger series are the electric variants.
02:34The RTV version produces 466 horsepower and 548 Nm of torque, while the Scatpack variant boasts an impressive 680 horsepower and 850 Nm of torque.
02:50This power is also reflected in the driving performance.
02:54The Scatpack can sprint to 100 kilometers per hour in just 3.3 seconds and complete the quarter-mile in just 11.5 seconds.
03:04For fans of traditional V8 engines, the Ford Mustang remains the only option in this class, as Chevrolet discontinued the Camaro about a year ago and a successor isn't in sight.
03:14But why did Dodge make this radical decision to launch an electric muscle car?
03:23A promotional video from the manufacturer provides the answer, making it clear.
03:27Deutsch wants to actively shape the future of muscle cars, even if that means straying from the beaten track.
