00:01Welcome to the video from the Car Magazine Tuning Blog.
00:04Today we're talking about the unusual Mitsuoka M55,
00:08a quirky interpretation of the Honda Civic with a skyline look.
00:12Anyone who is enthusiastic about unusual vehicle creations should be in the right place with Mitsuoka.
00:19The Japanese coachbuilder is known for its idiosyncratic designs,
00:23which often appear on lists of the most questionable cars.
00:26Nevertheless, the company will soon be celebrating its 60th anniversary.
00:31A sign that there is a loyal fanbase for its unusual models.
00:36The latest example is the M55, which is now returning in a new edition due to high demand.
00:42The first strictly limited version, called the Zero Edition, was sold out within 10 days.
00:49Now comes the M55 First Edition with extended customization options.
00:56While the original model was only available in one color and equipment,
00:59Mitsuoka now offers 10 paint finishes and 3 equipment lines.
01:05Buyers can choose between petrol and hybrid drive as well as a 6-speed manual transmission
01:09or a continuously variable automatic transmission.
01:14Stylistically, the vehicle is less oriented towards European or American classics,
01:18as is usual for Mitsuoka, but rather refers to the Japanese Nissan Skyline of the 4th generation C110.
01:28Nevertheless, the design is also reminiscent of the Dutch Challenger of the 1970s,
01:33mixed with design elements from Launcher.
01:36Despite its retro character, the sidelines leave no doubt as to its basis.
01:40It is clearly a Honda Civic.
01:45Particularly striking are the slats above the rear window, which give the vehicle additional character.
01:51As with previous models, Mitsuoka had to proceed cleverly here too in order not to risk copyright issues,
01:57especially with the striking radiator grille.
02:01Incidentally, the name 555 refers to the company's 55th anniversary, which was celebrated in 2023.
02:07While the zero edition was limited to 100 vehicles,
02:11Mitsuoka is planning a production run of 250 examples for the first edition.
02:17Prices start at around €46,000 and go up to around €52,000.
02:24Orders are already being accepted.
02:27Deliveries are scheduled for 2026.
02:30Since Honda is no longer offering the Civic as a coupe,
02:32the M55 is based on the 5-door hatchback version with a sloping roofline.
02:37Interestingly, the Honda Prelude will also be making a return soon,
02:43and it is not out of the question that Mitsuoka will also give this model a radically different design.
02:49It will be interesting to see.
02:52As always, you can find the link to read the article in our magazine in the video description.
