00:00Welcome to the video from the Car Magazine Tuning Blog.
00:03Today, we're talking about the farewell of the Honda Civic Type Air to the European market.
00:09Honda is saying goodbye to its popular compact sports car on the old continent with a final special model, the so-called Ultimate Edition.
00:19Although the manufacturer doesn't actually want to discontinue the Civic Type Air, it is forced to discontinue the model due to stricter European emissions regulations.
00:30The Ultimate Edition of the Civic Type R is only available in Championship White, decorated with red stripes on the bonnet and sides.
00:38The roof is always finished in black.
00:42There is also a striking rear wing made of carbon.
00:46The use of carbon for it is also continued in the interior on the door sills and on the center console.
00:53Striking red floor mats with a metallic type air emblem emphasize the sporty character.
01:00A particularly nice detail are the projectors integrated into the front doors, which project a red and white type air logo onto the ground.
01:08Buyers in Europe can also look forward to an exclusive gift package.
01:13A carbon key ring, a numbered emblem and a matching vehicle cover are included.
01:18Technically, however, everything remains the same.
01:21Under the hood, there is still a turbocharged 2-liter engine with around 330 horsepower and 420 newtonim of torque.
01:31Drive is via the front wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission.
01:36The Civic Type A can sprint from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 5.4 seconds.
01:42So why this end?
01:44Hannah Swift, head of European strategy and product development at Honda, explains that the industry is changing and that the model portfolio has to be adapted in line with European legislation.
01:58In short, the stricter emissions regulations mean that the Type R has no future in Europe.
02:03Prices for the Ultimate Edition have not yet been announced.
02:10However, it is clear that the Civic Type Air is already considered to be above average expensive in some European countries, particularly due to high taxes on vehicles with high emissions.
02:19In the Netherlands, for example, the standard version already costs more than around 92,000 euros, even without optional equipment.
02:30However, there is still a small consolation for European Honda fans.
02:35In the first half of 2026, Honda's sporty heritage will live on in the form of the revamped Prolo.
02:43This 2 plus 2 seater coupe will be launched with a hybrid drive and simulated gear changes.
02:49Although it probably won't offer the same driving experience as the Civic Type Air, it will still offer some of the driving fun.
