00:00Welcome to the video from the Auto Magazine Tuning Blog on the topic of 2024 Mercedes GLB V 2024 Kia Sorento.
00:14As always, you can find the link to read the article in our magazine in the video description.
00:19Today we take a look at two modern all-wheel drive SUVs that are equipped with the latest technology and powerful engines.
00:30We invite you to a virtual comparison without directly comparing the vehicles in reality.
00:38Unfortunately, this is also the reason why we cannot show the cars all at once, but only one at a time. Sorry about that.
00:47The Mercedes GLB is an SUV that, with a length of 4.63 meters, makes an impressive presence.
00:53Under the hood is a diesel engine with an output of 190 horsepower, which transfers its power to the road via an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and the 4-medic all-wheel drive system.
01:07A direct competitor of this vehicle is the Kia Sorento.
01:11The Korean model has recently been revised and has been given more technology, making it a strong competitor.
01:17The Sorento measures over 4.80 meters in length and is powered by a 194-horsepower diesel engine, whose power is also transmitted to all four wheels via an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission.
01:34An interesting feature of the Kia Sorento is the wealth of driver assistance systems.
01:39The Sorento focuses particularly on safety and has, for example, an integrated center airbag, which is supposed to offer additional protection in the event of a side impact.
01:49In addition, the Platinum version has a head-up display that projects information about the navigation system or driving data directly into the driver's field of vision.
01:59The lane-keeping assist system and adaptive cruise control are also part of the Sorento's repertoire.
02:05As is the function that recognizes speed signs and incorporates them into the cruise control.
02:12The Sorento also offers an exit warning and the option of parking the vehicle remotely.
02:19The Mercedes GLB also offers a good package of driver assistance systems.
02:24However, the system is not quite as advanced in terms of luxury as in the Sorento.
02:29It is particularly noticeable that the GLB does not come with electrically adjustable seats as standard.
02:36Customers also have to dig deep into their pockets for the adaptive lighting and head-up display.
02:42However, the driver assistance package, which is included as standard in the Mercedes GLB,
02:48still offers many helpful functions that make driving comfortable and safe.
02:52When it comes to luxury and interior design, the Kia Sorento has the edge.
02:58The Sorento has numerous practical storage compartments and clever cup holders, which are plentiful in both vehicles.
03:06The rear of the Sorento also has very comfortable seats with excellent ergonomics,
03:11which are not quite as plentiful in the Mercedes GLB.
03:14Another highlight of the Sorento is the space in the rear.
03:18Passengers can enjoy significantly more legroom here than in the Mercedes GLB.
03:23The air conditioning in the Sorento is also extremely sophisticated, which further increases comfort.
03:31Kia even provides USB ports in the rear.
03:34Despite the clear advantages in terms of interior and equipment,
03:38the Kia Sorento proves to be somewhat more cumbersome in fast corners.
03:42The greater weight of around 150 kilograms compared to the Mercedes GLB becomes noticeable in such situations.
03:51Nevertheless, the Sorento is described in user reviews as very safe and stable,
03:56and it handles quick changes of direction with astonishing composure.
04:00However, the higher weight also has a negative impact on performance,
04:04especially in the sprint to 100 kilometers per hour.
04:07Here, the Mercedes GLB can accelerate significantly faster and takes quite a bit of time off the Sorento.
04:14The prices for both vehicles are almost the same.
04:18The Mercedes GLB starts at just under €55,000,
04:22while the Kia Sorento 2.2 CDI is available from €55,200.
04:29Both models already offer good equipment in the basic version,
04:32but the Sorento's Platinum Package, which costs around €9,000 extra,
04:37adds many useful features, such as a two-stage heated steering wheel,
04:41a 360-degree camera system and electrically adjustable front seats.
04:47The Mercedes GLB is also well-positioned in terms of engine operation.
04:51The 2.0-litre diesel engine in the GLB operates extremely smoothly under partial load
04:57and offers a pleasant driving experience thanks to the freewheel function,
05:01which is positively noticeable thanks to the fast automatic start-stop function.
05:06However, the GLB is often described in various forums as being less agile,
05:11which could be a bit disappointing compared to the Kia Sorento.
05:14However, it is also important to note that such assessments are always subjective
05:20and do not necessarily apply to all drivers.
05:24In conclusion, it can be said that both vehicles offer strong performance in their respective categories.
05:31The Mercedes GLB scores with faster acceleration and overall more agile handling,
05:37while the Kia Sorento shines with better equipment, more space and more extensive safety features.
05:42Both vehicles are therefore good all-rounders that impress in various areas.
