00:00Welcome to the video from the Auto Magazine Tuning Blog, where today we're taking a look at the
00:10extraordinary Rosenbauer Panther 6x6 Electric. At first glance, this electric fire engine looks
00:18like it's landed straight from Mars. It was specially developed for use at airports and
00:24manages to achieve an impressive balance between performance and environmental friendliness.
00:30With over 90% of its daily tasks being completed purely electrically, it sets new standards.
00:38Nevertheless, Rosenbauer has installed a diesel generator for emergencies in order to remain
00:42operational if needed. The words electric and fire in the same sentence might make you prick up your
00:49ears, but there's no need to worry here. The Panther 6x6 Electric is used as a fully-fledged,
00:57zero-emission fire engine and is classified in the ARF aircraft rescue and firefighting vehicle
01:02category. This makes it the electric successor to the Penta 6x6 diesel model and represents a
01:10further development of a concept from 2022. Visually, the electric model stands out thanks
01:16to modern LEDs, which are intended to provide improved visibility in poor lighting conditions.
01:21The Penta Electric offers the usual firefighting tools and comes with the same robust extinguishing
01:29systems that the combustion engine version has. The truck is equipped with a powerful pump,
01:36a foam proportioning system and an extinguishing monitor. The tanks hold up to 12,000 liters of water,
01:431,450 L of foam and 250 kilograms of powder. These are massive extinguishing agent capacities that are
01:51perfectly tailored to the requirements of an airport. A look at the performance of this giant is
01:57fascinating. Under the hood are four electric motors with a total output of 980 horsepower,
02:04which even shoots up to an impressive 1,200 horsepower in boost mode.
02:08This allows the Panther to accelerate from 0 to 80 kilometers per hour in just 19.7 seconds.
02:18For a vehicle with a full weight of 40 to 42.5 tons, this is an extraordinary performance.
02:25The top speed is also impressive. The Panther can reach up to 120 kilometers per hour.
02:31The power supply is provided by a battery pack with a capacity of 256 kWh, which, according to
02:40Rosenbauer, provides sufficient energy for rapid deployment on-site, complete discharge of the
02:45extinguishing agent and the return journey. In tests, prototypes were able to complete several
02:52journeys on a single charge, although Rosenbauer deliberately did not specify exact range
02:57specifications. This is understandable, as the Panther is primarily intended for short,
03:03intensive operations and not for longer journeys. The Panther can be charged from 0 to 100% within
03:1145 minutes using a 300 kW rapid charging function. Another impressive feature is that, according to
03:20Rosenbauer, the Panther can perform more than 90% of its daily tasks purely electrically.
03:27An energy backup system in the form of a diesel generator is available for the remaining 10%,
03:33ensuring continuous use of the high-performance pump in emergencies.
03:39The Rosenbauer Pentas 6K6 electric can already be ordered. However, the company has not yet
03:45published exact prices.
03:49The first vehicles are expected to be delivered by the end of 2020.
03:53This innovative vehicle impressively demonstrates how electrification in the area of special vehicles
03:58for airports can contribute to reducing emissions and thus help the aviation industry achieve its
04:03climate goals.
