00:18With the Ram 1500 Ram Charger, Ram Trucks is launching an electric pickup truck that offers
00:23long ranges in a very unique way. While many manufacturers are pursuing
00:29purely electric concepts, Ram combines battery electric drive with a traditional combustion
00:34engine. A 3.6 LV6 gasoline engine serves exclusively as a generator and supplies power to the electric
00:42motors and the battery. This should enable a maximum range of over 1,100 kilometers.
00:50Officially, the Ramchaw Charger is a serial plug-in hybrid.
00:54It is powered exclusively by electricity via two electric motors that produce a total of 663
01:02horsepower and are installed on the front and rear axles. The gasoline engine is not directly
01:09connected to the wheels, but drives a 130 kW generator that produces electricity for the
01:15battery and motors. The V6 used is not a specially developed efficiency engine,
01:21but the well-known Pentastar V6, which has been used in many Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep models for 14 years.
01:30The Ram Charger's battery has a capacity of 92 kW.
01:36This is significantly less than the 229 kW of the all-electric Ram 1500 RUF,
01:42which was originally planned as the brand's first electric model.
01:45In terms of performance and driving characteristics, however, the models are in no way inferior.
01:52The Ram Charger accelerates from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 4.4 seconds.
02:00The towing capacity is 6,350 kilograms, while the maximum payload is 1,190 kilogram.
02:06The Ram Charger offers a high level of flexibility when it comes to charging.
02:13The battery can be charged with up to 17 kW via external rapid charging.
02:18The vehicle itself can also be used as a power source to operate external devices or even supply
02:24a residential building with energy in an emergency.
02:28Another technical highlight is the standard height adjustable air suspension on both axles,
02:33which ensures improved off-road capability and greater ride comfort.
02:39Ram Trucks does not officially state the Ram Charger's all-electric range,
02:44but it is likely to be around 250 kilometers.
02:48Only with a full tank of fuel does the pickup reach its maximum range of over 1,100 kilometers.
02:58Ram originally planned to launch the all-electric Ram RUF,
03:01but the model has now been postponed to 2026.
03:05Instead, Stellantis responded to high demand for a longer-range alternative
03:09and is launching the Ram Charger a year earlier.
03:15Ram Trucks has not yet announced a price.
03:19Orders are planned to begin in the first half of 2025.
03:23While many manufacturers continue to focus on all-electric drivetrains,
03:27Ram Trucks is forging its own path with its serial hybrid concept.
