00:00Stan Lee was a part of L.A.'s Comic-Con for years and has been missed since his passing in 2018.
00:07Now fans will be able to see him again at this year's convention, this time as a hologram,
00:13with reactions ranging from amazement to unease.
00:19For a price, fans can line up and speak with a holographic version of the Marvel Legend one-on-one
00:25or snap a photo. One ex-user called the hologram brilliant, even suggesting Marvel bring back
00:32other characters in the same way. But many others online are far less enthusiastic.
00:38Some questioned whether the hologram's creators even had permission, and the answer is yes.
00:44According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project is a partnership with Proto-Hologram and Cartoon Studios,
00:50which oversees Lee's legacy content. The head of Stan Lee Legacy Programs says they'd never put words in his mouth
00:58that weren't in line with things he spoke about while he was alive. But above all else,
01:03speculation about Lee's exploitation is not new, and the hologram reignited that discussion.
01:09People, including AARP, have raised questions about whether Lee's final year was marked by caregiving
01:24or elder abuse. Earlier this year, a documentary was announced by his former assistant,
01:30John Bolerjack, who traveled the world with Lee as his assistant. He turned to Kickstarter to help
01:35fund the project, saying it was about seeking justice for Lee. But as of April, it was announced the
01:41Kickstarter was canceled and would instead be independently financed. After fans expressed concern
01:47with the project, with some even reporting, Bowlerjack was deleting negative comments about the
01:52project off Kickstarter. For fans who want the opportunity to speak with Lee's hologram,
01:58it'll be featured at LA Comic Con September 26th to the 28th. And if you're lucky, organizers
02:05say the hologram may pop up to introduce a panel or two. With Straight Arrow News, I'm Kennedy
