00:00Now to a major diplomatic shift. Three of America's closest allies, Britain, Canada,
00:08and Australia, have formally recognized a state of Palestine. France is expected to follow today
00:14at the UN, and Portugal has already joined them. The announcements come amid growing outrage over
00:19Israel's war in Gaza, where health officials say more than 65,000 Palestinians have been killed
00:25since 2023. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the move is meant to revive hope for a two-state
00:32solution, while Canada and Australia made similar declarations in rapid secession.
00:38We are acting to keep alive the possibility of peace and a two-state solution. That means a safe
00:47and secure Israel alongside a viable Palestinian state. At the moment, we have neither.
00:56Israel's reaction was swift. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said a Palestinian state will not be
01:02established, calling the decision a, quote, reward for terror. At the UN, more than 140 countries have
01:09now recognized Palestinian statehood, but the United States is in budging. The Trump administration
01:15remains firmly opposed, vowing to veto any push for full Palestinian membership at the UN Security Council.
