00:00The Five Eyes Intelligence Alliance includes the U.S., U.K., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
00:06It's one of the strongest alliances there is, but that did not stop the U.S. Director of National
00:11Intelligence from withholding information from the other Five Eyes members about peace talks
00:18between Russia and Ukraine. CBS News broke the story. The outlet found a memo dated July 20th
00:27and signed by DNI Tulsi Gabbard, directing all U.S. intelligence gathering agencies
00:32to stop sharing new information about the Russia-Ukraine peace negotiations
00:38with their counterparts in the Five Eyes nations. Apparently, all analysis and information related
00:46to the talks was to be marked no foreign, meaning no foreign dissemination. Not only that, CBS News
00:53reports Gabbard also limited the sharing of intel to within the agency that created the
01:00intelligence. So just as an example of what this meant, it's conceivable the National Security Agency
01:07would not be allowed to talk to the Office of Naval Intelligence about what each agency knew about the
01:14ongoing peace talks. Now, as far as Gabbard's halt on sharing info with Five Eyes, critics are jumping
01:21on the story, saying it's another stain on America's relationship with its closest allies under the
01:27Trump administration. But even CBS News is reporting it's not altogether out of the ordinary for the
01:34U.S. to not share intelligence with the Five Eyes partners. That's the reason designations like
01:41no foreign exist in the first place. Also, it's not like the other Five Eyes partners don't hold intel of
01:49their own back from the Americans. Still, the timing of the order is a cause for concern for many, both in
01:56Washington and abroad. And some policy experts are now questioning what sort of repercussions the order could
02:03have on future diplomatic relations within the Five Eyes alliance. For more reporting like this, download the
