NASA has banned Chinese nationals from agency facilities over fears of leaking tech secrets
00:06
to America's rival in the space race back to the moon.
00:11
The agency's new policy began on September 5th. According to Bloomberg, several Chinese
00:17
nationals found out they had lost all access to NASA's systems and facilities. In a statement
00:24
to Straight Arrow News, NASA Press Secretary Bethany Stevens said, quote, NASA has taken
00:30
internal action pertaining to Chinese nationals, including restricting physical and cyber security
00:36
access to our facilities, materials and network to ensure the security of our work. Chinese
00:43
nationals are only allowed to work at NASA as contractors or students contributing to research.
00:49
This comes amid a space race between the two nations, with both racing to get back to
00:55
the moon. Several U.S. leaders have recently expressed concerns the U.S. can't get there
01:01
before China.
01:02
It is highly unlikely that we will land on the moon before China. Look at the architecture
01:08
that we have developed to land American astronauts on the moon. Look at the architecture. It
01:14
is extraordinarily complex. The U.S. hopes to put boots back on the moon by 2027.
