00:00Move over caramel macchiato, Starbucks is launching new items that aim to capitalize on demand for healthy options.
00:07The coffee giant is now offering a host of protein drinks.
00:13Customers will see new protein lattes and cold foam drinks on the menu beginning this week.
00:18The specialty lattes, matchas and cold foam drinks will have up to 36 grams of protein in a grande,
00:25the Starbucks term for its 16-ounce medium-sized drink.
00:28The lattes come in flavors such as sugar-free vanilla protein matcha,
00:33while the cold foam items resemble smoothies with names like iced banana cream protein matcha and chocolate cream protein cold brew.
00:41In addition, customers can add a shot of protein cold foam to any size of their beverage for an additional $2 or protein-boosted milk for $1.
00:50The new protein drinks will be on the menu year-round and will be sold, already mixed, in grocery stores later this year.
00:56Starbucks says it's a move to modernize its menu less than a week after announcing significant cutbacks.
01:03The company revealed it is closing 400 underperforming stores in North America and slashing 900 corporate jobs,
01:11all part of a major restructuring plan that was announced back in February.
01:14Starbucks is also in the midst of promoting its Back to Starbucks theme,
01:19which emphasizes a warm atmosphere and a sense of belonging at its shops.
