00:00The Jets need to do something that they haven't done since 2014,
00:04and that's go down to Miami and beat the Dolphins.
00:07They'll have their shot tonight on Monday Night Football.
00:09So let's talk J-E-T-S and M-E-T-F with Matt O'Leary of the Just Jets podcast.
00:15Matt, what's going on, my man? Big game tonight, buddy.
00:19Absolutely. Huge game for the New York Jets tonight.
00:21Hopefully they join the win column like your Giants did yesterday.
00:24Yeah, Victory Mondays. So sweet. Haven't felt that in a long time.
00:28I hope you get a Victory Tuesday tomorrow.
00:31But let's talk about this game because we're talking about a Jets team
00:34that's 0-9 on the road against the Dolphins
00:36ever since they beat them in London as the away team.
00:40So how much does that, I guess, historical baggage matter to you
00:44and the fan base when this team walks into Miami tonight?
00:49Yeah, I don't know if it really matters a ton
00:52because, you know, it's a new coaching staff and a new regime that's in here
00:56and the players have turned over a ton since then.
00:59But, you know, I do think it's something on the back of the minds of not only Jet fans,
01:04but maybe this team as well.
01:06They've struggled in their division for a long time,
01:08not only just with the Miami Dolphins.
01:10And I think that's a big reason why, you know,
01:12unfortunately they're in the midst of this long playoff drought.
01:15But, you know, it starts tonight.
01:16This is a tough test for the New York Jets in week four.
01:20I know both teams winless.
01:22Both teams definitely need a win in this one.
01:24But for Aaron Glenn to be able to go on the road
01:27and get his team a victory against a divisional opponent,
01:29I think that's a good start for them turning things around.
01:33Both teams on three.
01:34Both teams desperately need a win.
01:37Both teams don't have a takeaway at all yet this season.
01:42Aaron Glenn's a defensive-minded head coach
01:44and defensive coordinator Steve Wilks has coached in the Super Bowl before.
01:48So does it surprise you that the Jets' defense has struggled so much this season
01:55to take the ball away?
01:56And how confident are you that they can hold up against Miami's offense
02:00who can get hot at times?
02:03Yeah, I definitely am surprised that they haven't had a takeaway yet this year.
02:08It's something that they emphasized during training camp and during OTAs
02:12that they wanted to be a defense that turns the ball over
02:15and creates turnovers in advantageous situations.
02:18Obviously, they haven't been able to do that just yet.
02:21And, you know, Tua has struggled with turnovers at times this year.
02:26So if there was ever a game for them to finally get on the board,
02:29it feels like this could be the week.
02:30But you look at the Miami Dolphins' offense,
02:33they just played pretty good against Buffalo last week in week three
02:36and had some momentum.
02:38I know it obviously didn't end well for them.
02:40They had the interception late in the game,
02:42but they have a ton of speed on the offensive side of the ball.
02:45The Jets haven't tackled all that well this year either.
02:47And I worry about guys like Tyreek Hill and Jalen Waddell
02:51and Devon Achain out in space against this Jets defense.
02:55They're going to desperately need to improve soon
02:59if they want to win this game tonight against the Miami Dolphins.
03:02Again, both teams coming in at 0-3.
03:05I should probably stop saying that because by now everyone's like,
03:07we know that already, beat London.
03:09But the Jets have a head coach in Aaron Glenn that's been taking some heat
03:13recently and the Dolphins have a head coach that is currently on the hot seat.
03:18So if the Jets don't get a win tonight, what's the narrative around this team?
03:26Yeah, I think you look at it right now,
03:28the Jets have gone up against three teams who were playoff teams a year ago.
03:33And obviously, the Jets had a couple chances in the fourth quarter
03:37to hold on to a win, whether it was last week against Tampa Bay,
03:41had the lead late, had a lead against Aaron Rodgers in week one.
03:45But Aaron Glenn loses this game to an 0-3 Dolphins team.
03:49And, you know, Mike McDaniel, it kind of feels like he has one foot
03:51out the door already in Miami.
03:54And I think a lot of Jet fans are going to grow even more frustrated
03:58with the start to this season.
04:00They got to get right, and it starts this week.
04:02I don't think you could afford to drop to 0-4 because otherwise it's going to
04:06feel like the season's over, really, before it even had a chance to begin here.
04:10Just give us a final thought, your final takeaway for tonight's matchup.
04:15Yeah, for me, I think it's going to be a high-scoring back-and-forth game.
04:19I don't really trust either of these defenses.
04:22And Justin Fields returning against the Miami Dolphins,
04:25I think it's a softer landing spot for him to come against against a defense
04:31rather than some of the ones that they've previously played in the first three weeks.
04:35So I think they're going to need to establish the run game.
04:39And if they do that, I think they'll have a chance in the fourth quarter
04:41to win this one.
04:42All right, Matt, thanks for hopping on with this.
04:43And, again, I hope you experience a victory Tuesday tomorrow, my man.
04:48Absolutely. Thank you, Brandon.
04:50Jet fans, thanks for watching the video.
04:53Make sure you guys check out the New York Post Sports Jets
04:56Dolphins Monday Night Football Live Watch Party.
04:59It's going to be hosted by Gangs Are Here hosts Ryan Sampson and Frankie Viterini.
05:03They're going to be reading and responding to all your comments
05:06all throughout the game as well as breaking down all of the game action.
05:10You're actually going to feel like you're hanging out in studio with the guys.
05:14So good luck tonight.
05:15And as always, let's go Jets.
