00:00It's Pala Versa for Molloy, just a fourth start of the season for Gavin Molloy, Jensen unable to keep that in play, it's going to be a hip-skull kick.
00:27I'm just touching on that wing-back situation before, and today you've got Jensen playing right wing-back, he's played right, he's played left, and likewise, I just don't see him as a wing-back, I don't think his delivery is particularly good when he gets into forward areas, and yeah, I think it's a side with a lot of wingers in it, but it's difficult to get them into a team when they're not playing with that.
00:51Well that's exciting of Bowie and Klee-Jay forming a partnership together, their dual threat leads to a Hibs corner as Mulligan's ball comes off Molloy.
01:07Klee-Jay there, he's not the tallest but he's got a leap on him.
01:13Yeah he has, even in the short period of time he's been at Hibs in the few games he's played, you can see that he's got a real good spring on him.
01:21Hibs have loaded that six-yard box, four, five, then Green and White, out comes Mitov, didn't get it all, or perhaps any of it, Klee-Jay, they've lost it though and Aberdeen can break here,
01:48Oshish from Nisbet, he's got Carlsen making up ground in the middle, this is an ambitious ball, Mulligan's the man to get back.
01:57Again, this poor from Oshish, you know he's slashing at it, he's forcing it, and yeah, I mean as soon as you saw that Mulligan was the one that was tracking back,
02:11it, from a Hibs perspective it gives you a sense of security because you know he's just so athletic and so determined.
02:19Josh Mulligan on the ball now, he's had that reward of involvement in the Scotland squad for the first time in that last window.
02:29forward from Iredale, I think flick on by McGrath Bowie, goes for it but he was beaten by Mats Knuster who has stayed down.
02:44It's a foul by Mulligan so attention can turn now to the Dutch defender.
02:49It looks like he's holding, Carlsen's gone there as well but it looks as if Knuster's holding the back of his knee or the bottom of his hamstring,
02:59which is a bit of a concern, here's Carlsen going down,
03:09here's the challenge on Knuster, I just wonder whether he's overstretched there,
03:14you can see holding the back of his left hamstring.
03:31Here's the break and you can see Oshish, he's up there, he's got plenty of space in front of him,
03:35I mean that's an almighty pass to try and get that into Carlsen, it's just not on,
03:39you've got to keep driving your team up the park, you know you're in front of the Hibbs defenders,
03:44they're the ones that are chasing you, that's great play for Stuart Armstrong.
03:48Armstrong chance to deliver into the box, cut out by O'Horra.
03:54Palaversa, there's McGrath, neat turn from him and now Mulligan looks to break forward with Kleeche.
04:01One back by Molloy and then likewise by Mulligan.
04:09Again, you can see a number of the players just losing their footing,
04:13but the key, you know, it's really good play for Stuart Armstrong,
04:17but I think what it shows you is a deficiency within the system as well.
04:20He's up there in the wide area putting a ball into the box, Hibbs break,
04:24they break through the middle and Palaversa is on his own in the middle of the park.
04:27Look, regardless of the system that Aberdeen have played,
04:32they've never found the right balance in midfield.
04:34Invariably they play, you know, two in there,
04:38that's a hell of a task for whoever it is that's in there.
04:42Well, and that's the area, when I was talking about a settled team,
04:45that's the area that more often than not changes.
04:47Yeah, because it's never really worked, whoever he's had in there.
04:52And I think, you know, whether you're playing 4-2-3-1 or you're playing this, say, 5-2-3,
04:59it's just such a difficult, you're getting outnumbered more often than not by the opposition.
05:05And also, what happened on Thursday was the spaces that that two were being asked to cover was just humongous.
05:17Was there a naivety about that performance?
05:19Yes.
05:20Matt Sknooster came out afterwards and said this team has to grow up,
05:22they were childish in their approach.
05:24Well, I mean, fair enough, taking responsibility for that, but I just think the way that the manager said before the game,
05:31he expected an open game.
05:33Well, that's fine from what you're expecting from Ike,
05:36but you can't play into their hands.
05:39Ike just had too many quality players that were in behind your midfield,
05:44that were just exploiting those gaps that were appearing.
05:47And I just felt as if Aberdeen played into their hands a little bit with the way they approached it.
05:51The first five minutes looked quite dangerous on the break with a few of the players,
05:55but they just left huge gaping holes.
05:58And then it comes back to the square pegs and round holes that I have with this system.
06:02Keskinen's not a left wing back, brutally exposed and taken off.
06:07Shinny and Armstrong, both into the latter stages of their career,
06:11being asked to cover far too much space and being overrun and outnumbered in the middle of the park.
06:16Iredale feeds one through for Cleejay.
06:20Locked off by Nikki Devlin.
06:46He's easily cleared at the front post by Alexander Jensen.
06:51He's easily cleared at the front post by Alexander Jensen.
06:53He's easily cleared at the front post by Alexander Jensen.
06:54He's easily cleared at the back of a park.
06:55He's easily cleared at the front post by Alexander Jensen.
06:56And, you know, I've seen the ground out here,
07:22stretch for it but was able to leave it and let it go behind. I thought in real time he'd saved it
07:30but it's good drive and run from Mulligan, get a good angle, good view of it here, well maybe he won't,
07:40I'm still not sure whether he touches it or not but good play from him, there's a couple of occasions
07:45you see Berlasa, nice ball around the corner breaking the pressure of the Aberdeen midfield,
07:51Mulligan driving out the back line, getting a strike away,
07:58you know Connie was talking about before the game asking the question about Kevin Nisbet
08:02coming in for Lazatic, that's another area that they've not really settled on,
08:07Yankees started the season clearly devoid of confidence having not scored previously at Portsmouth
08:16and then Lazatic has not played a lot of football, scores a wonderful goal last week
08:21but still feels like everything's trying to find a bit of form, Kevin Nisbet falls firmly into that category as well.
08:33Carlsen to Armstrong,
08:34back to Carlsen, well watched by O'Horra,
08:47able to close down that space, Oshish not letting the Bernier out, Carlsen takes the strike on which Salinger holds onto.
08:56Well first of all it's really good play pressure from Aberdeen and then Carlsen,
09:04he picks up a position he always looked to get into, inside left drops the shoulder and it's a really good
09:11strike in these conditions with it being so wet, but the hips goalkeeper Salinger he does well to get his body fully behind it.
09:18McGrath taking up another dangerous position, Cadden for Bowie,
09:26uptack by Mulligan,
09:32uptack by Mulligan,
09:34have to go backwards though.
09:36I was just going to say, you can see O'Horra there with the captain's armband,
09:43the improvement in him over the last year has been impressive,
09:48think back to his first game against St Mirren,
09:50and it was a chase in an afternoon for him,
09:54I think steadily he's become more and more reliable and his performances are really good
10:00and he's clearly one of the leaders of the team being given the captain's armband as well.
10:06Rocky Paschuri can't get back in the sides with Grant Hanley,
10:11displacing him at the heart of that three.
10:13That's good play, I like that again,
10:16you see Berlasa around the corner, breaks through the midfield two of Aberdeen,
10:21and then you've got Mulligan running off the shoulder as well, it's really good play.
10:34Start to see those little connections that are coming together for the hips side.
10:39Hanley, only one with the top looking for Caden, just too far in front of Chris Caden.
10:56Myredale should be mopped up by Devlin, but the cost of a throwing.
11:13You know, if you're looking at the setup of the two teams here,
11:16the hips have their back three in place and Aberdeen have got a front three.
11:19I mean, really, at home, they should be going man for man, shut them down, make it difficult for them,
11:26but that front three, they're getting played around far too easily.
11:30The ball's getting popped past them,
11:31and then they're getting outnumbered in the middle of the park.
11:36You know, this is, that's too easy.
11:38Barry back to Mulligan, just too much on it, back to McGrath,
11:43Cleejay is furious, he felt it should have been played into his path.
11:49Yeah, it's more good play from Hibbs though.
11:52Balls around the corner, runners,
11:54Jack Milne should have done better, and the ball through from Mulligan's poor, but
11:58that's good play again from Hibbs. You can see, and you can start to envisage,
12:03how they're going to hurt the opposition, but Aberdeen are not able to get close enough, it's too easy.
12:13Well held in by Bowie, holding off Canooster now, Mulligan to Chris Cannon, they've got plenty forward here,
12:20it's Cannon, and again Cleejay and his twin Nicky, we're calling out for the ball into the middle.
12:29It's the wrong choice, simple as that, the ball comes through to him, it's not a great first touch,
12:34push them wide in the second either, but all he needs to do is just slide it inside.
12:39You can see there, Cleejay is in space, middle of the goals.
12:43As I said, when Cardin's just driving through, and then I think it's Nicky Devlin is forced to come across,
12:56it is, he has to leave Cleejay, Cardin can see that, it's not a difficult ball, just slide it inside,
13:02and Cleejay can step onto it, and he's going to end up being maybe like eight yards out in the middle of the goals.
13:09Cardin, oh great ball in, McGrath gets his head to it, just behind Cleejay.
13:20You can hear the crowd are getting a little bit anxious and annoyed, the pressure is all flowing
13:28towards Aberdeen goal, the problem for Hibs is they've not been able to convert.
13:33It's getting to that stage where you're thinking, okay, on top, dominant, away from home against one of the
13:42big rivals, the big sides in the league, you've really got to start trying to convert that pressure into goals.
13:52Hibs did have a good 3-1 win here in December, they had to go one down actually to Topic Eskinen's opener,
14:00Yuan, Nicky Cardin and Martin Boyle all on the score sheet to win it, that was just really at the start of that
14:07incredible run for Hibernian, you know, take it back to that 3-1 game and all the late drama at Easter Road,
14:1726th of November last season, it's amazing how things turned round for both these sides,
14:25Hibs have only lost four in the Premiership since, Aberdeen have only won seven, they didn't win again until February
14:35and in that time there's been 33 games, Aberdeen have taken 28 points, Hibs have taken 60.
14:41quite a stark contrast isn't it, and obviously you talk about Aberdeen having won seven, obviously
14:51two of those were the last two games, you know it's, it's been quite the turnaround
15:02I mean that's a perfect example of I think just where systems and lack of confidence,
15:07Matz Knuster has so much space in front of him and he's got no way to pass it and nobody can pick out
15:12Palabarsa measures one through to Malloy and now Carlsen, big chance, two Hibs players out with the block
15:19claims of handball, the flag is up in any case
15:22and then that comes initially because Jack Milne's willing to bang the ball forward, smashes it into
15:34Palabarsa's feet, he's probably marginally off, then there's another forward pass, Malloy getting in
15:39behind, it doesn't come off the arm anyway, it comes off of Grant Hanley's midriff I think
15:45but that's good play, you've got to be looking to play the ball forward, Mitov going down which is a concern
15:56a major concern this, he's been ever present for Aberdeen this season, Dimitar Mitov very much the
16:03number one with Nick Summon, the man brought in from Cove Rangers over the summer yet to make his debut
16:15and that's going to give the opportunity for both teams to come over to the dugouts and refresh and
16:25have a chat about how the opening 28 minutes have gone but Mitov is back up, he gets the applause from
16:32the Aberdeen support, well what a weekend that's going to be next weekend from Hampden Park the Premier
16:40Sports Cup semi-finals starting with Motherwell against Simiran on Saturday from 5 o'clock Premier
16:46Sports 1 and then on Sunday from 1 o'clock Celtic against Rangers again Premier Sports 1 for the
16:54second semi-final and remember every Monday from 6 o'clock on X and YouTube you can watch the Scottish
17:01football social club hosted by Daryl Currie featuring Michael Stewart and Alan Hutton amongst
17:09other guests getting some good ones on this season already
17:12are they all forward Gleeça at the Aberdeen defense claiming for offside and now the flag does go up
17:21Iredale forward, Cleetje at the Aberdeen,
17:32defence and flaming for offside and now the flag does go up.
17:51Milne, mate off to clip one in to Carlsen, O'Horror tight on his back.
18:08Aberdeen just struggling to get a real grip of the game,
18:11while Hibs, as I said before, they'll be disappointed that they've not been able to get themselves in front.
18:21And they're trying to switch the plate, too heavy with the passing, drifting out for Aberdeen shy with Malloy here.
18:32Still got to look for a little bit more from some of the Aberdeen players,
18:35as much as I'm talking about concerns about systems and players not really being comfortable with those issues,
18:41I'm still looking for more. I mean, I look at Antipala Versa and I just think that there is,
18:46you get a feeling there's a player there, but I'm looking for him to impose himself on the game.
18:51I won't take the ball, take the game by the scruff of the neck, dominate and just don't see enough of that at times.
19:01And he's not alone.
19:02There's Carlsen, you know, he's only in the door, but you get a sense of he, I know it's a wasteful pass there,
19:12but you get a sense of he's actually reveling in that role of being one of the go-to guys at Aberdeen.
19:18Stuart Armstrong, Aberdeen career very much in its infancy, but he's a quality player.
19:25He needs a little bit more help from me, though.
19:27He's a young lad, Stuart Armstrong used to come to Pataudry with his brothers and father to watch the side,
19:40now playing with his boyhood club.
19:43After what has been a vastly successful career at the club and international level.
19:49Alassa wins the free kick.
20:07See, I think it's just too passive for me from Aberdeen.
20:10I feel like they should be really hunting Hibs down.
20:13I wonder, does that stem from Thursday night when they've been picked off
20:21and maybe too ambitious, advanced in their press, their approach?
20:27Yeah, but I don't even think they were adventurous in their press.
20:30It was the turnovers that killed them.
20:33Obviously, Dave Cormack, I'm sure, would have been watching the game
20:38through his fingers on Thursday night as it was unfolding.
20:42And he's backed his man, hasn't he, Yumi Tullin, over the summer when,
20:46you know, towards the end of the season, well, obviously, from that November onwards,
20:50Aberdeen had a disaster until the Scottish Cup final.
20:54But David Gray's actually touched on that as well,
20:56and how he felt the backing of the Hibs board when things were not going right for him.
21:02Well, there's no question that Yumi Tullin's been backed.
21:04He's been backed big time.
21:05There's been some good additions, but there's also been a number that spending money on players
21:14that I'm not overly convinced.
21:19He spent, you know, the guts of three quarters of a million on a full back from Scandinavia
21:24and Alexander Jensen, and I'm sorry, I've not seen that value so far.
21:30And also, when you spend it on a full back, I'm not sure that's where you would be looking to spend.
21:34There's Canoester.
21:52And Malloy.
21:55Calaversa.
21:57Armstrong.
21:57Well, I've got to say, I think the referee's right in this.
22:27I thought it was a good enough challenge on Stuart Armstrong.
22:31And then it's ruthless from there on.
22:35It looks like he gets a touch there.
22:38Is it O'Hara?
22:39That's a lovely ball from Mulligan.
22:41And the strength and composure from Kleeji is outstanding.
22:44We've got a better view of it here.
22:46No, he doesn't get the ball, but does he get enough of Stuart Armstrong?
22:49I'm not sure there's enough to chalk off the goal.
22:53And that's an outstanding finish.
22:55Great driving run, lovely pass to Mulligan, and a brilliant finish from Kleeji.
23:00And at the moment, you've got to say, heads thoroughly deserve to have their noses in front.
23:04Well, the goal is confirmed by VAR.
23:09I wonder if that's one of those ones that probably if the decision was given, there wouldn't have been too many complaints in the middle field, but there's not enough to overturn that.
23:19No, there's not.
23:21Definitely not.
23:22Just looking at it again.
23:30But yeah, if the free kick had been given at the time, of course it's not as controversial because you don't know that there's going to be a goal at the end of it.
23:37But I think you're right, if the ref blows his whistle, there's maybe a few murmurs from the hips players, but the game's played on.
23:45But for me, I think the referee's done the right thing there.
23:49I don't think there was enough for it to be a free kick personally.
23:52Well, Kieran Bowie has gone down here after challenging just on that far touchline.
24:00He hounded Nicky Devlin.
24:14Didn't really see what occurred there, it was just Jack Mullan as he was trying to turn and clear the ball.
24:22But I mean, this is where Aberdeen's mental fortitude is really going to be getting tested because they're low.
24:33Physically, mentally battered from Thursday night.
24:37They've not started the game particularly well.
24:39They've not got any real flow in it.
24:41You know, the manager was talking about showing that they're a real team with that hunger and desire, which is what they need first and foremost.
24:48I wouldn't say that that's been shown in an abundance so far either.
24:51They're only victory here was that 4-0 win against Dundee.
24:595th of October.
25:02Armstrong to Carlsen.
25:09Now out to Jensen.
25:12Carlsen continuing to run along the line.
25:16Oshish.
25:20That's Hanley.
25:21Well placed.
25:25That's well worked from Aberdeen getting Oshish in behind the defence but he's going to lift his head.
25:31You know, for me, he's another player that I'm looking at and thinking, can he do more?
25:36Because you're effectively sacrificing another midfielder to have somebody like Oshish in the side.
25:49And is he doing enough to warrant that?
25:54I'm not sure about that at the moment.
25:55That's the space to run forward into, and obliges.
26:13Jensen, Palo Versa.
26:14Show from Oshish.
26:16Show from Oshish.
26:19He'll let it run.
26:20And now Bowie to Klijic.
26:22Bowie will continue his run, it's Cadden making up the ground on the right-hand side.
26:27Bowie free to the left, he gets it.
26:29Good combination between the three of them and eventually the block comes in from Milne.
26:33That's a great break from Hibbson.
26:36Kieran Bowie, it's that sort of play that was outstanding in the early part of the campaign.
26:42The last month, five weeks, just being a little bit untidy in his play when it's come up to him.
26:48But on that occasion held it in really well, linked the game and drives forward.
26:52And all of a sudden you've got three against six defenders there and they're taking care of them.
26:57Iredale attempting to swing that one in, it's good ball winning from Varlasser.
27:03He's been good today, he's been good, reads the game well.
27:07As I've mentioned already, looking to play forward, to break the pressure in the lines.
27:17I just think it's a little bit too easy for Hibbs defensively.
27:21That front three of Aberdeen are pressing them, but they're not really doing it with any intensity.
27:26Armstrong, losing control.
27:35Outnumbered, you know, because you've got Mulligan and Berlasse that are in there and McGrath just does a great job of floating,
27:47picking up good spaces and out of possession, he picks up an extra man.
27:51Murray won the battle with Canoester.
27:54This is what we were talking about before, Kieran Bowie, just real good strength.
28:00Again, look at that from Berlasse.
28:03I think he should be doing better, but I understand confidence is very, very low for Aberdeen, but they need some more of their players to be stepping up to the plate and
28:07taking some responsibility.
28:16Jack Mill on the whole, I think he's been, you know, pretty good this season, and he's one of the youngsters.
28:25Iredale outstripping Jensen, but it's still on for Oshish. Carlsen now.
28:28Jensen towards the back post.
28:30It's well dealt with by Chris Cannon because he was under pressure from Gavin Malloy.
28:37I was saying before, I was unsure of Jensen's quality at times in the wide areas when he's up high. Credit where it's due, that was a good thing.
28:44And he's one of the youngsters.
28:46And he's one of the youngsters.
28:47Iredale outstripping Jensen, but it's still on for Oshish. Carlsen now.
28:52Peter.
28:53Which I think he's one of the most Commentatoră‚«Đ”Đœ, is?
28:57Who does this look like I and I'm Ma and he's the sound of 부탁ers even.
28:59Nick Gill
29:03Richard.
29:04Reality.
29:05Is there a particular group ofæ±ș and referees like one of the players who lost a bit of or Serante?
29:11It's not big official than David.
29:14Chris Cannin because he was under pressure from Gavin Molloy causing.
29:18Oh, say".
29:19We're saying before I was unsure of Jensen's quality at times in the wide areas when he's up high,
29:21Pataudry has turned as frustration amongst the home support chance of easy easy from the Hibs fans
29:34Genson again might come for Carlsen maybe not quite the strike from Armstrong is
29:39blocked off the Bernian certainly defend in their numbers
29:46well no surprise that Stuart Armstrong's looking to get a strike away he's got two really good feet
29:50never shy from having a strike which was why it was such a shock on Thursday he had a great chance
29:57driving at the back line and he passed it up played it wide and then Carlsen lost possession
30:04Ike broken them and all of a sudden he scored another goal
30:08Oshish bundled over by Mulligan nothing coming his way so he has to bounce back up
30:13helps it on to the right foot then goes back out to the left hand side for Malloy that's a disappointing delivery
30:29Hibs get the free kick adding further to the frustrations from the Aberdeen players in support
30:35you see the goal here again Stuart Armstrong with the O'Hora it was good pressure lovely pass from Mulligan but you know what
30:48Thibault Cleege there
30:51under real pressure from Nicky Devlin he gets bumped just as the ball gets slipped through to him but he's able to ride the tackle
30:59and then slide the ball into the bottom corner it's a wonderful finish it really is
31:07he's really starting to show his value after that record signing from concern
31:13we're going to make the challenge there on Jensen
31:29final two minutes of the half
31:34is Armstrong
31:43Carlsen
31:46Armstrong
31:49Aberdeen working their way up the pitch Oshish
31:55takes on the strike and he was never really on
32:00it's really really poor decision making from Oshish
32:05having said that the last five minutes or so has probably been the best
32:08Aberdeen have had you know building a few phases of play
32:12without really carving open the Hibs defence it's actually been the only stage of the game
32:20where it's looked like Aberdeen able to get three four five passes together
32:25it's been a very very disjointed performance so far
32:28you can see there the concern on the face of Jimmy Tallinn well played
32:37McGrath great feet he's enjoying himself you can tell
32:44good footwork lovely balance
32:46Jensen
32:51also scored on this fixer last season but in the red of Aberdeen
33:05two minutes of additional time to see out the half
33:20Aberdeen sitting second bottom in the
33:23Premiership
33:25Calaversa got that away in the nick of time Devlin
33:27now up to Jensen
33:31Oshish blocked off by Hanley
33:35hopeful cries of handball not from the players from
33:39the supporters on this near side Hanley now stabs that one away Armstrong
33:45it's more good play from Aberdeen though but you see the difference with
33:47Aberdeen with Hibs sorry
33:50Grant Hanley the centre of defence he just senses danger
33:54you saw him with the block before from the strike from the edge of the box which was
34:00given his offside anyway but he just knows where the danger is defensively and he invariably
34:06gets himself into position and that man there Josh Mulligan the power of work that he gets through
34:13shutting people down in the middle of the park is invaluable as well
34:17there he is again look at that
34:19no way through for Stuart Armstrong
34:24McGrath
34:33or Lasser
34:35Hanley
34:36Hibs would quite happily see out the next 30 seconds to take them to the break
34:40you know this is a one-nil advantage sorry I was just gonna say this is a Hibs side that this is their system they play it and they play it well and they're comfortable in it
34:54Aberdeen do not look comfortable in their shape
34:56maybe they've got more lofty plans where will this break Cleejay challenging for it
35:04and it's Canoostra that smashes it clear
35:07that will do us for the first half booze ring around Petaudry
35:17Thibault Cleejay back-to-back starts and back-to-back goals for the Togolese striker
35:24and he finished it with such authority that was so clean into the corner of the net with the outside of the boot after he was set up
35:33by Josh Mulligan the man just in front of him in the picture there so at the break at Petaudry
35:38and it's Aberdeen nil hibernian one
