00:00And the one team that could have a stamp on that is Ole Miss.
00:02The question is, are they going to stamp their future HUD coach in Ole Miss and Oxford?
00:08Are they going to stamp him down to Gainesville, Joe?
00:11Come on now.
00:11I tell you, I mean, isn't he playing a little bit with house money?
00:14If you're Lane, he's got bargaining power right now.
00:18He goes in.
00:19He wins this game.
00:20He's going to be leveraged just the way Signetti was in asking for an extension or whatever he wants,
00:26potentially, in Oxford.
00:27He loses.
00:28He still has a fail safe to go to Gainesville because they know he's the number one candidate on the list.
00:34I think when you look at this matchup and when you look at the game last week, you and I both like Georgia.
00:38I didn't think that they were going to tack on 35-plus points, have a first-half lead at 21-16
00:43and basically blow it in the final two minutes, and that's exactly what Ole Miss did.
00:48This game is interesting because you have an explosive offense going up against one of the best defenses
00:53in the conference and in all of college football in Oklahoma.
00:56When you look at the front seven for Ole Miss right now, they're giving up 166 rushing yards per game.
01:03They allowed Georgia to pound the rock for 221 and basically almost five yards per carry in that victory.
01:10That's what Oklahoma's going to look to do.
01:12They rushed and pounded the rock for $1.71 against South Carolina.
01:16That was a physical game.
01:17They built the first-half lead, 14-0.
01:20This defense held on, and they have the veteran quarterback, Mateer, over Trinidad Chambliss,
01:24even though Chambliss played well.
01:26I lean to Oklahoma simply because they're undefeated at home this year, 4-0.
01:31They've won those games by an average margin of victory against FCS and FBS opponents by 23.2 points per game.
01:39I believe in the physicality of the defense, and I think that's where this game is won or lost.
01:43We saw 5-and-a-halves yesterday.
01:45Yeah.
01:45Seeing more 4-and-a-halves right now still lay it with the soonest.
01:49Yeah, just look at the FanDuel's opening line, Joe, for this game with Ole Miss and Oklahoma.
01:52It opened up at minus 3-and-a-half, and then we see that move here, 4-and-a-halves.
01:55There are some outlets, Bet365, and some outlets in Las Vegas that are listed at minus 5s,
01:59and the total up from 50-and-a-half is that opening number to 52-and-a-half here.
02:03Talk to me, Joe, about Oklahoma.
02:05Mateer before injury.
02:06Oh, my goodness, offense looks incredibly good here.
02:09They should be able to maybe win this conference, and or he can win the Heisman Trophy.
02:13Comes back, maybe rushed it a little bit.
02:15What are the options for Mateer today?
02:16Do we see what we expected to see from the beginning of the year, or we're still working our way back here?
02:21No, I think he's more in a rhythm than what he was a couple of weeks ago,
02:25and I think, actually, Brad Venables and that staff sort of did a disservice against Mateer and the team
02:32by starting him against Texas, and I'll just tell you why.
02:34If they would have went with Michael Hawkins, Donnie, right, and started the game,
02:38even if, let's say, they were trailing in the fourth quarter,
02:41they could have brought in Mateer in an emergency situation and said, you know what, we'll try to pull it out.
02:46If they would have lost that game the way they did, right, with Hawkins,
02:50they have a flyer to tell the committee, hey, we lost one game, our starting quarterback was out.
02:55They would have gotten the benefit of the doubt, and you still would have arrested John Mateer for an extra week.
02:59They rushed him back.
03:00He didn't perform well.
03:02You saw more about what he was involved last week.
03:04It was more consistent with the passing game.
03:07He looked like he was on, could take hits.
03:09I think now he's 100% healthy, but it's going to come down to the physicality of the offense and defense alliance.
03:15The fact that there was rain in the forecast, I think, benefits Oklahoma more than it benefits Ole Miss.
03:21Ole Miss more of a finesse offense.
03:23I still think Blaylock and that rushing attack for Oklahoma can get right, run it between the tackles,
03:29and even Mateer being the veteran, I think that's where the difference holds,
03:33and that's why I would lay the four and a half in this ballgame.
03:35Yeah, I'm feeling Ole Miss a little bit in this game, too, because you do take a look at the quarterback position,
03:38and Mateer, again, was on that trajectory of if he could possibly win the Heisman.
03:41Look at his statistics show, and again, he did miss some time.
03:431,500 passing yards here, seven touchdowns with six interceptions here on the ground.
03:48Obviously, Blaylock is their leader, but Chambliss on the other side, I'm intrigued by this kid week to week,
03:52but also understand this.
03:53Like, I know you've had all that tape from Division II before, and you can check it in,
03:57but now he's on tape with these SEC teams.
04:00Talk about him, eight touchdowns, one interception, 1,500 yards.
04:03They also have a pretty good ground game, but Chambliss in this game today is going to have to be the go-to guy, man.
04:07He is, and not just through the air, but on the ground.
04:10And when you look at last week against Georgia, right, he had made some plays,
04:14but they only, as a collective team, rushed for 88 yards against that Georgia front seven.
04:19It's going to be difficult to run the football yet again against that front seven in Oklahoma.
04:23That's holding opposing offenses well under four yards per carry.
04:27They shut down Lenora Sellers in that rushing attack last week.
04:31I think they could duplicate that in this ballgame.
04:33Again, when you look at Trinidad Chambliss, can he put pressure on that defense on the perimeter to sustain drives is going to be critical.
04:41Let's not forget, Oklahoma held down Sellers.
04:44They held down Jackson Arnold, another mobile quarterback, earlier in the year.
04:48They held down Bryce Underwood for the most part.
04:50So they have stepped up against mobile quarterbacks at home and on the road,
04:55and I think that's why it's an uphill battle.
04:57Should be a very great game and one of the best games on the board,
05:00but I still lean to the physicality of Oklahoma.
