00:00Let's start here. The problems with LSU. It's not talent, Joe.
00:04No, it's not. It's Joe Sloan, the offensive coordinator.
00:07I really think that he needs to kick up his game a little bit for LSU to potentially win this game.
00:12Now, we just talked about a weather report, potential rain in the forecast a little bit later for the LSU Tigers.
00:19I did look like that last weekend.
00:21Let me tell you, after that pitiful defensive performance against Diego, Pavi, and Vanderbilt,
00:26I deserve to look like that for backing the Tigers last week.
00:30But I'll just say this about LSU.
00:32They're underdogs yet again in Death Valley.
00:34We saw LSU over the past three seasons be underdogs four times, Donnie.
00:40Last year against Ole Miss, they caught four, won the game outright.
00:43They caught two and a half against Bama and lost 20-22.
00:46They caught two and a half against Tennessee, got crushed in Death Valley,
00:50and then did win outright as a 13-and-a-half-point underdog,
00:54knocking off Nick Saban in Alabama en route to the SEC West in year number one.
00:59They're 4-0 at home this year.
01:01Three wins against FBS opponents have come by 12 points per game.
01:05But if this offense, number one, can't stretch Texas A&M over the top,
01:10this is going to be a long day.
01:11Marcel Reed and that offense are hitting on all cylinders.
01:14They're averaging well over 35 points per game, over 280 passing yards per game.
01:19Marcel Reed killed them last year, nine carries, 62 yards, and three touchdowns.
01:25This isn't about the defense.
01:27This is about Joe Sloan and the LSU offense.
01:31I'm talking to you, brother.
01:32Take the governor off to the LSU offense.
01:35You have speed, yet you'll only want to run and throw sideline to sideline.
01:40Open it up and allow this offense to cook.
01:42Here's the other thing.
01:43Garrett Nussmeyer last year, Donnie, eight times threw for over 300 yards.
01:49He had one 400-yard performance.
01:51They won those games.
01:52They were 6-2 overall, won by an average margin of victory of basically 13-plus per game.
01:58He doesn't have one game where he's thrown for over 300 this year.
02:03Take the governor off.
02:05If they don't win this tonight, Joe Sloan should be fired,
02:09and Brian Kelly maybe should be out the door as well.
02:11How about that?
02:12Strong points here by Joe Lisi.
02:13And by the way, you take a look at the lines, Joe, the opening line.
02:15Did you know some sportsbooks had LSU as high as a 5.5-point favorite?
02:18They ain't even favorites anymore.
02:20Minus 2.5 has completely switched over to Texas A&M,
02:22who is having the better season, and a total of 49.5.
02:25And Joe also brought up some rain in the forecast this evening.
02:28But I do want to talk about that offense for LSU,
02:30because coming into the season, Joe, I don't think, you know,
02:33handicappers or analysts like yourself are saying,
02:35you know what I think is going to happen this year?
02:36LSU is going to struggle on offense.
02:38Let's take a look at the games against light competition for this offense, Joe.
02:41Clemson, 17-10.
02:43And we know how Clemson's actually turned out at this point.
02:45Not a great football team.
02:46You take a look at Florida, 20-10 victory.
02:48You take a look at Ole Miss, 24-19.
02:50That was a loss.
02:51South Carolina, 20-10.
02:53That was a victory.
02:54Vanderbilt last week, 31-24, which means they only scored 24 points.
02:58Now, guess, 56-10, Southeast Louisiana.
03:01Congratulations.
03:02We're not used to seeing this from an LSU offense,
03:04and sometimes it's just changing things up, Joe.
03:06The tendencies, as you like to say, what are they?
03:09You have speed at wide receiver.
03:10You have a solid offensive line.
03:11You have running backs.
03:12You had a quarterback coming into the season that we thought might be able to win the Heisman Trophy,
03:15and also, Joe, be the number one overall pick in the NFL draft.
03:19We are not seeing it right now.
03:20No, not at all.
03:21Now, I will say the secondary is the strength of LSU's defense.
03:25They're holding opposing offenses to 58%.
03:27Completion percentage, only 189 passing yards per game.
03:31They've only allowed five touchdowns and have forced eight interceptions.
03:35But the problem, Donnie, for their offense in this matchup right now,
03:38you have the number one ranked statistical third down defense in Texas A&M,
03:43holding opposing offenses to 22% conversion rate over the last four weeks, right?
03:50Think about this.
03:51They have held opponents in the SEC to six of 43 attempts on third down.
03:57That's 13%.
03:58Yeah.
03:59That's a phenomenal rate.
04:00They had a great effort last week, even though they gave up 42 points against Arkansas.
04:06They held them to four of 10 on third downs, and that was with Mike Washington and Talon Green.
04:10This offense for LSU is inconsistent.
04:13They can't run the football.
04:15They can't go vertical with Nussmeyer.
04:17That's going to be a problem, especially if it's a wet track.
04:20Now, the only benefit that LSU has in this matchup, it's in Death Valley.
04:25You should get a dynamic effort, but without weeks, they're going to have to win the turnover battle.
04:31Again, I reluctantly think that LSU steps up, but again, A&M's playing lights out,
04:36and Marcel Reed is the difference.
04:38He's completed well over 60% of his passes.
04:41He can run it.
04:42He can throw it.
04:43Owens, the running back, is phenomenal.
04:45Taking over for Le'Veon Moss, that's going to be potentially the difference in this ballgame.
