00:00We left off talking about the battle in Death Valley.
00:03LSU opens as a 9.5-point home favorite over the Florida Gators.
00:08Some money coming in right now on Florida.
00:10Multiple books have the Gators right now.
00:13An 8.5-point underdog total is 48.5.
00:16Coach, LSU's won five of the last six meetings.
00:20They've won those games by an average margin of victory of 10.2 points per game.
00:24But like I mentioned last segment,
00:26they lost this game last year with DJ Lagway as a freshman quarterback.
00:31That defense is much better for LSU.
00:34But this could be a trap game potentially for the Tigers at home.
00:40Yeah, I think the fact that LSU still has a bad taste in their mouth.
00:44Last year, this game was a tough, tough loss for LSU.
00:48They haven't forgot it.
00:49They know what it did to their season, what it did for Florida season.
00:53So, that might be a good preparation mentally for Florida.
00:58But I think it also is a great preparation for LSU.
01:01They don't want to lose this call game.
01:03They got a much better defense this year.
01:05Their quarterback has got a running game to allow him to throw it when he wants to,
01:10not when he has to.
01:11So, a lot right now I've seen is good about LSU.
01:15They are playing as good as anybody in the conference.
01:19And I could go with Florida with the points, but LSU is going to win this game.
01:24They are going to be ready to play.
01:26And they don't forget what happened last year.
01:30To your point about LSU's defense, making a turnaround with Blake Baker,
01:34they're only giving up 44 rushing yards per game,
01:37only giving up 144 passing yards to opposing offenses.
01:41And that includes that effort week number one against Cade Klobnik.
01:45But more importantly, 23% third down defense.
01:49They got it down from around 36% last year.
01:52They continue to play like that.
01:54They're going to put some pressure on DJ Lagwe.
01:56What I want to know, though, is have we seen enough out of Garrett Nussmeyer
02:00in the passing attack?
02:01He's only had to throw the football for only 469 yards through two games.
02:06They were a little vanilla last week against La Tech.
02:09This was an offense last year that averaged 315 against opposing defenses.
02:15Does LSU throw the kitchen sink at the Gators this weekend?
02:19You know, I don't think they want to,
02:20and I don't think they're necessarily going to have to.
02:22I think they want to be balanced.
02:24They have a good enough running attack this year to remain balanced.
02:28And their quarterback, he gets a lot of credit to me
02:30for just managing the offense.
02:32If they need him to throw it, he's able to throw it.
02:34But he's also able to dish it off with handoffs,
02:36make sure they can mix the running game with the passing game.
02:40And I think that's allowing him not to have to go out there
02:43and win ballgames by himself.
02:45He's an old Louisiana boy that loves LSU,
02:48that he puts a lot of pressure on himself like last year.
02:51But I think he's settled down.
02:53He's got an outstanding offense around him that's balanced.
02:56His defense can stop people now and protect the lead.
03:00And so I don't see him having to go out there
03:02and make mistakes like he did in the past.
03:04And he's got himself right up there, to me,
03:07as one of the top quarterbacks, not just in the Heisman run,
03:10but also in the NFL draft of quarterbacks,
03:13maybe higher there than he does in the Heisman draft.
03:17We'll see what Garrett Nussmeyer does.
03:20Injury update for LSU.
03:22One of their tight ends, Trey Dez Green,
03:24will not play in this matchup.
03:26They'll probably turn a Bauer short,
03:28the transfer for Oklahoma to pick up the productivity
03:32in that matchup.
03:33Harlan Berry, the freshman running back for LSU,
03:36looked very good last week in the home win,
03:388.1 yards per carry.
03:40We'll see how it plays out,
03:41and we'll break it down later this week
03:44as we progress in the big matchups for the SEC.
