00:01Delusion, the art of tricking the brain,
00:05distorting the senses, challenging perception.
00:08You can't trust what you see even with your own eyes.
00:12Meet the Masters of Delusion.
00:30Buckle up for an evening of astonishment and awe.
00:50I'm Dean Cain and you're about to watch Masters of Illusion.
00:54The magic is a universal language. It speaks to the wonder in all of us.
01:01It transcends logic and no matter how many times we try to decode it,
01:05the mystery remains.
01:07That's why I'm here to witness the extraordinary right alongside you.
01:12And Carissa, what?
01:13Are you in the middle of something you don't look busy?
01:15Well, I'm just opening up the show.
01:17I was wondering if you'd help me with something.
01:18So I've come up with this cool new invention
01:20and I was wondering if you'd be the spokesperson.
01:22For a small fee, perhaps I would make it.
01:25Well, let me pitch it to you first.
01:26Okay, so it's called homing jewelry.
01:28I think we all lose our jewelry all the time.
01:30It's certainly not just me, at least that's what I always tell myself.
01:33So the idea is that if you lose a piece of jewelry,
01:35it will be like a homing pigeon.
01:37It will always go back to where you want it to be.
01:38So, for example, if I take this earring off,
01:40it does mean for the rest of this time I will be a little bit unbalanced
01:43and I'll only have one earring.
01:44Sorry.
01:45So all I have to do is, like, if I hide it in my hand,
01:48it's actually not hidden in my hand.
01:50It's moved from here to inside my pocket, right?
01:52Uh-huh.
01:53And you're probably wondering, how does that work?
01:54How does that work?
01:55The cool thing is that if I put it in this pocket,
01:56you're like, oh, it's going to damage the fabric coming out.
01:58No, it just goes right through without causing any damage whatsoever.
02:01It's a magic earring.
02:02I do.
02:03And the best part is if I stick it back in here,
02:05it doesn't want to go back to this pocket.
02:06It actually goes right back on my ear.
02:08I'm right here.
02:13I should have seen something.
02:15So you can give me this book first then?
02:17Uh, we'll talk about the best things.
02:18Okay, at least help me pitch it,
02:19because they won't let me put it on that fish tank shelf.
02:21Oh, yeah.
02:22Yes, I understand that.
02:23Yes.
02:24Well, let's see what other marvels await us tonight.
02:27This performer has become a staple in the world of magic,
02:34known for his unique blend of comedy and illusion.
02:38He's dazzled audiences on stages around the world
02:41and is a fan favorite of our show.
02:43Please welcome the incredible Murray Sawchuck.
02:49What's up, you guys?
02:50How you doing?
02:52You know what?
02:53I know a lot of you think a lot of my tricks
02:56are either rigged or gimmicked,
02:58and you know what?
02:59You're right.
03:00So, I want to borrow something from you guys
03:02so you know it's not rigged or gimmicked in any way.
03:04So I want to borrow somebody's cell phone.
03:06Have we got a cell phone at all?
03:08You got one?
03:09Yes?
03:10Can I borrow it?
03:11Would you mind coming up with me?
03:12Big hands, lovely lady, everybody.
03:13Let me help you out.
03:14Take your time.
03:15What's your name?
03:16Brianna.
03:17Brianna.
03:18How you doing, Brianna?
03:19Let me see your phone.
03:20Beautiful.
03:21Look at that.
03:22Look at that.
03:23Very fancy.
03:24I like that, huh?
03:25I normally ask you how much you paid for your phone,
03:27but I don't want people to think things are set up,
03:28because nothing is set up here.
03:29So we're going to try to find a random number
03:31of how much you paid for your phone, okay?
03:33Before I go any further, though, Danny, my assistant,
03:35has a very special present for you.
03:37That's a box you can hang onto there, Brianna.
03:40There you go.
03:41It's quite heavy, though,
03:42so you probably want to just put it on top of the stool
03:43there for a second.
03:44Give it a spin so the front's facing the lock.
03:46Very good.
03:47That's yours for now.
03:48That's collateral.
03:49Since I got your phone, you can have a box.
03:50There you go.
03:51So I'm going to leave that right there.
03:52Now, question, we're going to try to find what price your phone is.
03:55So randomly, I've got 52 cards in the deck, all right?
03:57We're going to cut down anywhere you want,
03:59between two and three times, I'll cut the deck, all right?
04:02Wherever I cut into, the next five cards
04:04are going to be the price of your phone.
04:06Because obviously it's over $100, right?
04:07So the first three digits will be the price,
04:09and the last two digits will be the cents, the change, all right?
04:12Fair enough?
04:13How many times?
04:14First of all, have a look at the cards.
04:15You can see they're all different, right?
04:16The corners are cut off because they're from a casino back in Las Vegas,
04:19where I work at, and that's where you can't go back in the casino
04:21and use those, all right?
04:22So how many times do you want to cut the deck?
04:24Two or three times?
04:25What do you want?
04:26Three.
04:27Three. Here we go.
04:28Once, twice, three times like that.
04:29Top card.
04:30That's going to be the first number of your price.
04:32What is that?
04:33Eight.
04:34Eight.
04:35Put that right there.
04:36Here we go.
04:37Next one is going to be a three, just like that.
04:40Just so you know, guys, this is tape.
04:42It's not magic.
04:43I'll let you know when it's magic and when it's tape, okay?
04:46So third card is a nine.
04:48That's going to be right there.
04:49So $839.
04:50How do you feel about that?
04:51Yeah.
04:52Not bad?
04:53Perfect.
04:54And then we have a two.
04:55It's going to be there.
04:56And, of course, then a four.
04:58So $839.24.
05:01Feel all right with that?
05:02Yeah.
05:03Okay, great.
05:04Perfect.
05:05That's the price of your phone, all right?
05:06One thing I've learned, though, I love DIY stuff.
05:08Phones are always getting dirty, right?
05:09It's a really cool way to actually keep your phone clean, all right?
05:13You have to get a baseball cap.
05:14So when I'm in public all the time, I'm always wearing a hat.
05:16You never see me.
05:17I mean, my hair is ridiculous.
05:18So I'm always trying to hide it.
05:20But we usually have a normal baseball cap.
05:22What you do is a regular hat that's cotton, you take your phone,
05:25place it inside the hat like this, and it actually cleans it.
05:28So you flip it over like this, give it a rub like this is the best part.
05:30Da-da-da-da-da.
05:31Boom!
05:32Just like that.
05:34Kidding.
05:35Kidding.
05:36Kidding.
05:37It's a new trick.
05:38First time doing this.
05:39Uh...
05:40There you go.
05:41Here you go.
05:42It's a little hard to unlock, but you won't break the screen.
05:43Great.
05:44Also, price tag fell on the ground as well, if you noticed.
05:45Right here.
05:46And, uh, how much did we say your phone was worth again?
05:49$839.24?
05:50It's exactly the price of the rock.
05:51$839.24.
05:52That's all I got.
05:53Back to the rock.
05:54Back to the rock.
05:55Great.
05:56That's all I got.
05:57Back to the rock.
05:58Back to the rock.
05:59Did you see it?
06:00You see it?
06:01Here you go.
06:02Here you go.
06:03It's a little hard to unlock, but you won't break the screen.
06:04Right.
06:05Also, price tag fell on the ground as well, if you noticed.
06:06Right here.
06:07And, uh, how much did we say your phone was worth again?
06:08$839.24?
06:09That's exactly the price of the rock.
06:10$839.24.
06:12That's all I got.
06:18Actually, I got a present for you, though. Here, just for you. Bam! Look at that. A-10 and 10. Look at that, see? That was the internet of the 80s. No batteries, the last forever. You look very impressed. Thank you. You're very welcome. I'm glad you're so kind of me still. I gave this to you as a present. Yes. Okay, so I got an idea. I need you to open this for me, okay? Now, you've had the whole time in your possession, right? Since we started, right? When we got your phone. Let me get rid of this stuff for you, all right? I'll take this away.
06:47You can keep the price tag, a little souvenir, right? Yeah, I got a budget. Open up the box. Go for it. Little thing in the front. Just give it a twist. That's right. And we'll, yeah, there's more of a twist. Yep. Open it up. Pull it forward there. There you go. Yeah. Look at that. Oh! Another box. Here. Do me a favor. I'll take that out. Close that up for me. And then just give it a little twist to lock it. And then Dani will grab that from you. She's right behind you there.
07:17Thank you. Thank you. There we are. Here we go. All right. Way to go. Okay. I got 17 of these. Oh, my God.
07:26Ho! Another box. Look at that. See? Look at that. You can do that up. Give it out a close. Big hand for Brianna. She's doing a great job, everybody.
07:35Now, Brianna, you've never helped a magician in your life before, right? No. Big night. I'm excited. Here we go, Brianna. One more time. Here we go.
07:40Oh! Another box. I wasn't kidding. You can close that up. Give it a quick close. Dan, you'll take that from there. Look.
07:48These boxes, if you hear, you can actually hear something shaking inside the box. Do you hear it?
07:52I hear it. Don't hear. Just listen. I know this is a handle. You can't really hear. Just open the thing up. It's better. Open it up.
08:00Oh!
08:01Is there your phone?
08:02Yeah. Big hand for Brianna, everybody. Young lady. Thanks for being here. I'll hook you back down the stairs.
08:07And that's how you keep your phone clean, everybody. Good night.
08:19Coming up, Jackson Ridd knows what's on your mind.
08:23All right. Don't show them. Don't show them yet.
08:26And later, you might need a breath mint for Boris Wilde's close-up magic.
08:33Masters of Illusion is just getting started.
08:37This act features a mentalist whose performances are a blend of science, psychology, and pure magic.
09:00He has a gift for making the impossible seem possible, all while keeping you on the edge of your seat.
09:07Please welcome the one, the only, Jackson Ridd.
09:12All right. All right, folks.
09:20Well, I think it's time to get into some of your minds, okay?
09:26If I have all of you think of something, chances are some of you might think of something similar.
09:29So, I'm going to need some distinct people to think of some different thoughts for us this evening.
09:36We're going to start with you over here, actually.
09:39If you wouldn't mind thinking of a thing for me, please.
09:43Just go ahead and lock into a thing.
09:45Something tangible, something real, something you could imagine holding in your hand, using, something like that.
09:49Okay.
09:49You, sir, if you wouldn't mind thinking of a place, somewhere that you've been, somewhere that you want to go, doesn't matter, as long as it's a real place that you can picture yourself in.
09:58And you, you're going to draw something for me, okay?
10:00But more on that later.
10:02Have you locked in on a, uh, on a thing, something you can picture holding, using in your hands?
10:07Yeah?
10:08Okay.
10:09Fantastic.
10:09We're going to take this little piece of paper here, and, uh, you are going to unfold that, just like that.
10:15Hold that in your hands.
10:16Make a strong impression from your mind onto the page with this pencil right over here.
10:21Write down in all capital letters.
10:22When you're all done, fold it up so the secret's on the inside, okay?
10:27You over here, do you have a place in mind?
10:29Excellent.
10:30So, same thing goes for you.
10:32You're going to take your piece of paper, write down your place nice and big over here.
10:36Make a strong impression from your mind onto the page.
10:39You're going to place it inside that envelope.
10:40After you fold it up, keep the secret on the inside as well.
10:43The only caveat for you, this has to be a real place, okay?
10:46Don't write down, like, the state of denial or something like that, okay?
10:49Got to be able to go there.
10:50Now, you're done with the thing?
10:52Fantastic.
10:52We will give you an envelope right over here.
10:54I'm going to slide this right inside.
10:58Let conceal it shut.
10:59Pinch onto that.
11:00Make sure the glue sticks nice and tight.
11:01When you're all done, hold it up to the light.
11:03Make sure you cannot see through the envelope, okay?
11:05I'll take the pencil back.
11:07I also need one other individual.
11:09As I said before, you're going to do something a bit differently for me, okay?
11:13Instead of writing something down like these folks, you are going to take a look at your paper.
11:17And think about it less of a paper, more of like a blank canvas, if you will, okay?
11:22Draw something for me.
11:24Something simple.
11:25Something quick.
11:2610 to 15 seconds.
11:27We're not going to draw the Mona Lisa over here.
11:28But it needs to be something that you remember, okay?
11:32So lock onto an image whenever you're done.
11:34You're going to draw that on there and then slide it back inside the envelope when you're done.
11:38Okay?
11:38Here you go.
11:39That's for you.
11:40And we'll give you a pencil too.
11:42There you go.
11:43Over there.
11:44You cannot see through the envelope.
11:45Is that correct?
11:45And you're done sealing it?
11:48All sealed shot?
11:50You got to do it or?
11:51You got to lick it.
11:51I just don't want to do it after you.
11:52So just do it or I do it.
11:54Either one.
11:55All right.
11:55We're going to number these over here for our participants playing this little game with me.
12:00Fantastic.
12:01We have person number one and person number two.
12:05And what's the name of our artist over here?
12:08Lauren.
12:09Lauren?
12:10Lauren, are you almost finished?
12:11Excellent.
12:15Go ahead and fold that back up.
12:17Put it inside the envelope.
12:18I'll seal it for you.
12:19Can we give Lauren some encouragement, please?
12:21She comes down on stage for us, please.
12:23Thank you very much, Lauren.
12:24Watch your steps all the way up onto the stage.
12:28Very nice.
12:29Throw this away.
12:31And you're also going to hold onto these envelopes for the time being, just keeping track of these on stage.
12:37Now, isolate number one for me, please.
12:39Show that.
12:40Show number one.
12:41Don't open it up yet.
12:42I don't want to see it yet, but just show number one.
12:45This is the thing.
12:50Something about this.
12:51You seem like a playful person.
12:53I feel like there's something a little playful.
12:54Something you might, lots of times, ladies will think about flowers or lipstick or something like that.
12:59You didn't think about something that you would hold.
13:02You would think about something that you might use, play with.
13:04I'm getting something like a, like a yo-yo or something with like a rhythmic.
13:09Oh, perfect.
13:10Just think about yours for me, please.
13:16Don't show them quite yet.
13:17I'm going to sort of, you can actually set those down if you like.
13:19But we're going to take a look at number one over here.
13:23See how on track we got.
13:26For the very first time, you wrote down and are thinking of the thing of a ball.
13:37Yeah?
13:37Can you show them what I wrote, please?
13:39Indeed, it's a ball.
13:40Give them a round of applause.
13:41Very nice.
13:42Good stuff.
13:43Good stuff.
13:45We will hand you back the big one and the little one here for the skeptics,
13:50a.k.a. the haters in the audience over there.
13:53Lovely little ball for you.
13:55Those are just regular pieces of paper.
13:56Hold on to those and inspect those.
13:58Thank you very much.
13:58Give a round of applause, please.
14:01Number two remains.
14:02Can you hold up number two for us, please?
14:04This is the place.
14:11You.
14:12You're a tricky individual, I can tell.
14:14Yeah, your person likes to have fun.
14:16Yeah, I can see that on you.
14:18This is something, this is a place where you might have gone to have a little bit of fun.
14:22Maybe like a vacation, is that right?
14:24No?
14:25That's right.
14:26Okay.
14:30Think about being there for me, please.
14:34Yeah, this is a bit of a, ooh, it's hot.
14:37Hot.
14:37Something about this place is, uh, hot.
14:40I mean, you might be, like, in a pool or something like that.
14:42I'm getting, um, definitely some palm trees, some desert action here.
14:47Okay, last word is a little, uh, hopefully you can still read that.
14:53Don't show them quite yet.
14:54Let's just take a look at number two for us.
14:59I wasn't quite sure about this one, so hopefully I get up.
15:05For the first time, you were thinking of Palm Springs.
15:09Yeah?
15:10Can you show them what I wrote, please?
15:13Indeed, it's Palm Springs.
15:15Very nice.
15:16Very nice.
15:17Now, Lauren, I feel like I'm on a roll here, to be honest.
15:23Yeah.
15:23Two out of three would have been good, I'm just saying.
15:25But, um, do you remember what you, what you drew over here?
15:30Yeah.
15:30You do?
15:31I want to try something different with yours, okay?
15:33We're going to take this, we're going to get rid of it with all the others.
15:36And, uh, can you go ahead and stand it for me, please?
15:41Now, take a look right over here.
15:43There's no, like, mirrors or anything like that that I can see through.
15:46No?
15:47Nothing?
15:47You are going to take this pad and this pen, and this is going to be yours, okay?
15:54Now, we're going to recreate that drawing live so everyone can see it, right, if you show them.
15:58Do you want to draw it this way or this way?
16:00Which way do you want?
16:01This way?
16:01Okay.
16:02Can we stand back to back right now?
16:04Back to back?
16:04Very good.
16:05And, Lauren, begin drawing now, please.
16:11You're drawing, yes?
16:12Something interesting, getting, like, geometric shapes or something like that.
16:18Oh.
16:19This is something cutesy.
16:22I'm not quite sure what this is.
16:25You're done?
16:26Okay.
16:28All right.
16:29Don't show them.
16:30Don't show them yet, please.
16:31This is what I got, folks.
16:33I got something that looks a bit like this.
16:35Can you show them, Lauren, please?
16:40Fantastic job.
16:40Give a round of applause, please.
16:43For a long, fantastic work.
16:45Thank you all for your thoughts, folks.
16:48Keep it going for a few hours off stage.
16:57Coming up, Mike Cadeny shares his custom-made magic paper.
17:01I have had this paper carefully perforated at four-inch increments.
17:06Plus, Dan Sparrow's act gets a little salty.
17:12Masters of Illusion has bored tricks up its sleep.
17:15Prepare to be amazed by a magician whose career spans over four decades of performing, writing, and preserving the art of magic.
17:41Known for his innovative routines and classic illusions, he's here to bring you a show filled with wonder and history.
17:48Let's give a warm welcome to the extraordinary, Mike Cadeny.
17:54Thank you very much.
17:58Thank you, thank you.
17:59Ladies and gentlemen, I direct your attention to a tiny square of magic paper.
18:08Sir, this is a perfectly symmetrical square of mystical magical paper.
18:16Sir, if that is your real name, I want you to take that paper in your own hands.
18:22First, I want you to examine the paper.
18:24I think you will find that that paper is quite unlike any paper you have ever seen before.
18:29Now, you folks in the back there, not to worry, I have plenty for everybody.
18:37I know what you're thinking.
18:38I know what you're thinking.
18:39I'm not sure what he's thinking.
18:41The rest of you are thinking, where does this guy get magic paper by the roll?
18:44Costco.
18:45I buy bulk.
18:46And not only that, I have had this paper carefully perforated at four-inch increments.
18:55Apparently, you don't believe a word of this.
19:00I'll have to prove it.
19:01I'll have gentlemen seated right here.
19:03Sir?
19:04Leap to your feet.
19:06That's so the folks in the back there can see as you reel off one square of magic paper,
19:11one square only, and tear it right off the roll, if you would.
19:15Perfect.
19:16You've done this before.
19:19Huh?
19:20Well, I don't mean standing up.
19:22It was perfect.
19:23You may be seated.
19:24It was fantastic.
19:25Perhaps I can speed things along.
19:27For the lady.
19:28For the lady.
19:29There you go.
19:30Oh, you brought your own.
19:31Okay.
19:32No, you can't be too careful these days, folks.
19:34Here, let me give you a good one.
19:35Quickly, quickly, squares of magic paper for each and every one of our lovely...
19:40Hi, kids.
19:41It's Uncle Mike.
19:42Haha.
19:43Uh, just chat among yourselves.
19:45I'll be back there before you know it.
19:46Taking a little bit longer than I had anticipated.
19:48Going as quickly as possible.
19:50A few more people here than I have.
19:52Ah, there.
19:53Hold that.
19:54Now, I realize I didn't have a chance to get to everybody.
19:58This is so much more impressive when everyone has a square of magic paper.
20:02However, we do have a representative group, each of them holding a magic paper square.
20:07Square holders, listen up.
20:08Pick that paper, hold it up, wave it high in the air, let's see where you're at.
20:11This.
20:12This.
20:13Ah.
20:14If only General Custer had thought of that, he might have been with us tonight.
20:17But he didn't.
20:18All right.
20:19I want you to take your square of magic paper, pass it to this lady right here.
20:23And I want you to pass two squares to this lady.
20:25And I want you to jump the gap there to this lady, pass them right on down the line till
20:28that lady's got all those magic paper squares.
20:30You pass your square to this lady right here.
20:32And then you both squares to the gentleman, pass them right on down till this lady's got
20:36all of those squares of magic paper.
20:38Now somebody out there is holding the roll of magic paper.
20:41I am blinded by the lights.
20:42Can you hold that up?
20:43Yes?
20:44Gentlemen, I want you to take that roll like a football.
20:46Give it a good toss to me.
20:47Go ahead.
20:48Uh, go ahead.
20:49Give it a good toss on three.
20:51One.
20:52Two.
20:54It winged me.
20:57Three.
20:59Thank you for your enthusiasm.
21:01Okay, I see you have, don't throw them.
21:04Perhaps you could bring the stack of magic papers to the edge of the great stage.
21:07Oh, fantastic job.
21:09Look at this.
21:10Back in their original order.
21:11Thank you very much.
21:13Do we have a matching packet?
21:14Yes, we do.
21:15Ladies and gentlemen, round of applause for the row monitors.
21:19Great job.
21:21Couldn't have done it without them.
21:23Couldn't have, did I get all those squares back again?
21:26You're not holding out on me.
21:28All right.
21:30I realized with the group this, oh, wait a minute.
21:33I almost forgot.
21:34This one was mine, remember?
21:35It came with the suit.
21:39Now, I realize with a group this size, there's bound to be a few people who do not believe that this is actually magic paper.
21:48And for those skeptics, I have but two words.
21:51Well, I forget the other one.
22:03But I'll prove it to you right now.
22:04All eyes on the MP.
22:06On the MP.
22:15It works!
22:17It's unbelievable!
22:21How is it coming?
22:22Good, everybody.
22:23You're a little fan of the今日.
22:25Come on!
22:27Sean!
22:35joyful!
23:06Stay back, it's double ply.
