00:00Well, you've probably noticed it's a much brighter, sunnier picture out there today than we've seen through recent weeks.
00:06Lots more sunshine on offer than many of us have had recently.
00:10That being said, there are some showers around, particularly across parts of Scotland,
00:14an occluded front pushing through here, bringing plenty of blustery showers,
00:18and a few showers dotted around some western coastal parts as well.
00:22Worth noting that some of those showers could be quite heavy,
00:25could be some rumbles of thunder mixed in with them across parts of Scotland,
00:28and they are going to be a bit blustery.
00:30Stronger winds towards the northwest, calmer towards the south and east,
00:34and across central and eastern parts of England, that's where we're going to get the best of the sunshine.
00:39Lots of blue sky on offer, and with that, temperatures, if anything, a little bit above average for the time of year.
00:45Most places peaking in the mid, mainly high single figures, or quite a few spots just about scraping into double digits.
00:52Then later on, through this evening and overnight, a lot of the showers are going to fizzle out and die out,
00:57but not all of them, some continuing, particularly across western parts of Scotland,
01:01a few showers around some western coasts of England, Wales, some coastal parts of Northern Ireland,
01:06and some pushing into some southern counties of England as well.
01:09Most places, though, having a dry night and lots of clear skies around.
01:14As a result, temperatures taking a bit of a drop, particularly across central and eastern parts.
01:19Less of a breeze here, and quite widely seen temperatures dropping to around 2 to 4 Celsius,
01:24maybe a touch of air frost in a few spots, and watch out for a few pockets of mist and fog,
01:30which are likely to develop, particularly around the Vale of York, for example,
01:34and that could cause a few issues on the roads if you're heading out early on Saturday morning.
01:39Otherwise, through Saturday, any mist and fog might linger for a little while, but will gradually clear,
01:43and then there's, again, a lot of bright, fine weather for many of us.
01:47A few outbreaks of showery rain coming up from the south, spilling across some southeastern
01:52and then central parts of England, one or two showers dotted around elsewhere,
01:56and then a band of rain, a front coming in, bringing some more persistent, perhaps heavy rain,
02:02initially in two parts of Cornwall, perhaps spilling into Devon later on,
02:06maybe the far southwest of Wales, and starting to push into Northern Ireland as well.
02:10Otherwise, though, lots of dry weather, like I said, and temperatures, well, maybe a degree or so down
02:15compared to today, so a little bit closer to what you might expect for this stage in December,
02:21but not especially chilly.
02:23Then, as we go through the rest of the weekend, well, Sunday's looking a bit cloudy at times,
02:28there will be some outbreaks of rain here and there, and that takes us into what could be a bit of a cloudy start
02:35to Christmas week, but things are set to turn drier than they have been recently.
02:41Not totally dry, a bit of rain here and there, it could be a bit grotty at times,
02:45but things will be brightening up in time for Christmas Day.
02:48With that as well, we're going to see slightly colder air coming in from the east,
02:52so our temperatures are expected to drop.
02:54So at the moment, while Christmas Day is looking largely dry,
02:58there should be some bright weather around, but a bit chillier than it has been recently as well.
03:02Of course, we will be keeping you up to date with the forecast as we head towards the big day.
