00:51Mom to the rescue. The school bus on fire, filled with children.
00:56I didn't know if the fire was going to explode, like, right then and there.
00:59Then, what were they thinking?
01:02The parents busted for leaving their six-month-old daughter all alone on the beach during their Florida vacation.
01:08She's a top health care executive.
01:10And the creep who admitted, so I raped you.
01:15Twelve years later, confrontation in court with the woman he attacked in college.
01:20Plus, target, pumpkins.
01:23Pumpkin porch pirates across America.
01:25This guy's sorry for what he did.
01:28He came back with the pumpkins.
01:31Sorry.
01:31Then, demolition outrage.
01:35Uproar over President Trump tearing down the east wing of the White House, where Melania's office is.
01:40When President Trump announced that he was going to be building this ballroom,
01:43he said it wasn't going to impact the existing structure in any way.
01:48And she said what?
01:50Why actress Kristen Bell's anniversary wish to husband Dax Shepard is being called tone deaf.
01:56Plus.
01:57Oh, my goodness.
02:00What a catch.
02:02The lucky fan who caught a baseball worth three million bucks.
02:07Caught it like a baby.
02:08Now, inside edition with Eva Pilgrim.
02:12Hello, and thanks for joining us.
02:14Mom to the rescue.
02:15When her little girl got off the bus, mom noticed smoke.
02:19The bus was on fire, and it was spreading fast.
02:23Ann Mercogliano spoke with the mom, whose quick actions have many calling her a hero.
02:28It's an ordinary afternoon as a little girl comes home from school after the bus drops her off.
02:34Then, her eagle-eyed mom notices smoke and flames under the hood.
02:39Look at the ring camera video, and you can see the fire building.
02:44As soon as I got out the door is when I noticed the first flame right above the tire.
02:49And I immediately yelled, fire.
02:51Carrie Thorpe sprang into action to get the kids off the bus in front of her house in Bethel, Minnesota.
02:57What was going through your mind when you were evacuating these kids?
03:00I just wanted to get them off as quickly as we can because I didn't know what was going to happen,
03:05and I didn't know how fast the fire, like if the fire was going to explode, like right then and there, or what.
03:11The kids race to her front porch all the while, smoke billows from under the hood of the bus.
03:17The kids are shaken.
03:19Several are in tears.
03:20All 22 kids are led away from the porch and down the block to get them as far away from the bus as possible.
03:27In case it explodes.
03:30Before long, black smoke and flames engulf the front of the bus.
03:34You can even see the tires exploding from the heat.
03:37How much time from when you saw that first flame until we see that image of the school bus just completely engulfed?
03:43It may have been five minutes.
03:45Here's the aftermath.
03:46The bus charred and gutted.
03:48The asphalt melted from the heat.
03:51Carrie, what if you weren't there?
03:52I honestly don't know how far that bus would have gotten and if we would have gotten those kids off safely.
03:58And take a look at this amazing photo.
04:01That is the bus driver posing with all the students he helped escape.
04:06Parents say the children recently completed a safety course at school,
04:09which taught them how to evacuate during an emergency.
04:14What were they thinking?
04:15That's the question today after two parents were arrested for allegedly leaving their six-month-old baby alone on a Florida beach for nearly an hour.
04:25Jim Murray has the details.
04:27This woman is holding a six-month-old girl she found on the beach after the baby's parents allegedly left her alone for almost an hour.
04:35Police say the parents took a walk down the beach with three of their children,
04:39leaving their six-month-old daughter all alone in a tent.
04:42A woman who was sunbathing nearby says she saw the baby all alone.
04:46She notified hotel staff and called 911.
04:49By the time deputies arrived, hotel personnel said the baby had been left unattended during nap time from 1110 a.m. to 12.06 p.m., 56 minutes.
05:00This wasn't just a mistaken mom has baby, no dad has baby, or we thought somebody else had baby.
05:05It essentially was the parents who walked off with other children and left the baby without any care for that about-an-hour time frame.
05:12It happened at the stunning Miramar Beach in Destin, Florida, known for its pristine white sand beaches and emerald green gulf water.
05:20The vacationing family was staying at the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort and Spa,
05:25where a basic room this time of year can cost more than $400 a night.
05:29According to the police report, the dad told cops that the other three children had run off down the beach,
05:35so he and his wife went after them to go for a walk, leaving their sleeping infant in the tent unattended.
05:41He said they lost track of time and did not realize how long they had been gone.
05:45What they reported to us is that because it was nap time, they didn't want to disturb their child.
05:49A six-month-old cannot provide for itself, can't care for itself.
05:53So, you know, worst-case scenario, baby could roll over and potentially suffocate.
05:57Now the parents, Brian and Sarah Wilkes from Houston, Texas, have been charged with child neglect.
06:03Sarah is a successful health care executive, and Brian is an engineer with Shell.
06:07Absolute madness, goes one online comment.
06:10We feel nervous about leaving our chairs and food unattended on the beach when we go for a walk, let alone a child, goes another.
06:17Leaving a child, especially a six-month-old, there on the beach by itself without any way to care for itself
06:24or any direct supervision is just completely unacceptable.
06:28When the parents were arrested, the baby and her three older siblings were placed with child welfare authorities
06:33until other family could pick them up.
06:36She was sexually assaulted in her college dorm room.
06:39Then, six years later, her attacker sent her a shocking Facebook message writing,
06:45So I raped you.
06:47Now, after another six long years, a judge sentencing him to jail time.
06:52And the woman he attacked getting to speak right to his face.
06:57A woman goes face-to-face with the man who sent her the chilling Facebook message,
07:02So I raped you.
07:03Shannon Keillor was raped in 2013 when she was a freshman at Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania.
07:11Shannon was attending a fraternity party celebrating winter break when a junior started hitting on her.
07:17He followed her back to her dorm and then forced his way into her room.
07:22He wouldn't leave, and then he raped me and started crying after and went home.
07:32At the time, Shannon went to the police hoping they would pursue charges against her attacker,
07:37Ian Cleary, a goalie on the college hockey team.
07:41I did everything I could.
07:42They said there wasn't enough evidence.
07:43Nearly seven years passed.
07:45Then, out of nowhere, Shannon received a series of incriminating messages on Facebook from her assailant.
07:52I kissed you, so I raped you.
07:55I'll never do it to anyone ever again.
07:58How did you feel when you saw those Facebook messages?
08:00I stopped dead in my tracks, and my boyfriend thought that someone died.
08:05He confessed.
08:07As soon as I got the messages, I knew I had to pursue it again to the fullest and not give up.
08:11Authorities launched an international manhunt.
08:13Last year, Cleary was detained in France, where he was living.
08:16He was extradited back to the U.S.
08:19Now, the 32-year-old has pleaded guilty to sexual assault,
08:23and yesterday, he was sentenced to two to four years behind bars.
08:27But with good behavior, he may only serve six months.
08:31He was wracked with guilt and wanted to seek forgiveness and express his remorse.
08:36He doesn't need to be in prison.
08:38He needs to receive mental health treatment and monitoring.
08:42Shannon's friend, Katiyun Amir Aslani, says she was harassed by Cleary on the same night he raped Shannon.
08:49She was in court as Shannon delivered her emotional victim impact statement.
08:54What was it like for Shannon to confront her attacker after all these years?
08:57She was looking him in the eye, something I don't even know if I could do to address him directly.
09:06There was a lot of bravery and power from her.
09:10Shannon says she forgives her attacker because she says she doesn't want to hold on to anger.
09:18Demolition outrage.
09:20There's growing anger across the country over President Trump's decision
09:23to tear down the east wing of the White House to build a new $250 million ballroom.
09:31It's a jarring sight.
09:34The east wing of the White House getting demolished.
09:37You can see right into the offices.
09:40The demolition sparking outrage today.
09:43Can he do that?
09:44Just start tearing down the White House?
09:46Social media is filled with ordinary Americans bemoaning the destruction.
09:51This is the White House.
09:52This is the people's house, and it's just being demolished?
09:55They're literally destroying the White House to build his stupid ballroom.
10:01On TV, Trump's biggest critics are weighing in.
10:03That is not your building.
10:06You don't own that building.
10:09It's grotesque.
10:10It's just grotesque.
10:12It's history being torn to shreds.
10:13But the president is unapologetic.
10:16In fact, he's delighted.
10:18You hear that sound?
10:19Oh, that's music to my ears.
10:21I love that sound.
10:22While the rest of the White House remains untouched, he has big plans for the east wing.
10:27The first lady's office and her staff have been moved out, and all White House tours, which start there, have been indefinitely suspended.
10:35It's all being replaced by a massive ballroom.
10:38Les Trent is there.
10:39You can't see the construction site from the street, but you can hear the heavy equipment working behind me.
10:44And this project is truly enormous.
10:47Picture this.
10:47The White House is 50,000 square feet in size.
10:51The ballroom will be almost double that at 90,000 square feet.
10:56We can hear some faint construction work.
10:59We can hear trucks backing up from time to time.
11:02CBS News Chief White House Correspondent Nancy Cordes says the demo came as a big surprise.
11:08Because back in July, when President Trump announced that he was going to be building this ballroom, he said it wasn't going to impact the existing structure of the White House in any way.
11:19In fact, he said it wasn't even going to be touching the White House.
11:23The Trump administration is firing back today, pointing out that other presidents have made major changes over the years.
11:31When actress Kristen Bell decided to honor her 12th wedding anniversary with husband Dax Shepard, she never thought she would face backlash.
11:40But her post is being called tone deaf.
11:43She meant it as a sweet anniversary post to hubby Dax Shepard, but things quickly turned sour for actress Kristen Bell.
11:52Congratulating on 12 years of marriage, Bell wrote on Instagram,
11:55Happy 12th wedding anniversary to the man who once said to me, I would never kill you.
12:00A lot of men have killed their wives at a certain point.
12:02Even though I'm heavily incentivized to kill you, I never would.
12:06It didn't take long for social media to erupt, accusing Bell of being tone deaf to domestic partner violence.
12:13Not funny at all.
12:15What kind of man says this to his wife?
12:17Goes one comment.
12:18What a wild thing to post during domestic violence awareness month.
12:22No comment from Kristen Bell.
12:25It's being called the greatest performance in baseball history.
12:29Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani pitching six scoreless innings and hitting three home runs in the same game.
12:37And one fan super happy today because as Jim Murray reports, he caught the ball now said to be worth more than $3 million.
12:45This is the baseball.
12:46This dude is about to become an instant multi-millionaire after catching what could be one of the most historic home run baseballs ever.
12:54David Flores caught Dodgers great Shohei Ohtani's third home run ball from game four of the National League Championship Series.
13:08Ohtani not only hit three home runs Friday night, but also pitched six scoreless innings while striking out ten.
13:18It's being called the most magnificent game of all time.
13:22The ball literally sailed into Flores' arms.
13:26I knew it was coming right off the bat.
13:27I'm a former baseball player and you gotta have a jump on the ball.
13:32Yeah, caught it like a baby.
13:34Pretend it's a baby.
13:34Be nice and smooth with it.
13:36The boxing coach says offers to buy the historic ball are lining up.
13:41What's the biggest offer you've gotten?
13:43You know what?
13:43I can't say.
13:44Over a million?
13:46I can't say.
13:48Ohtani, tease off!
13:49Ohtani's first home run of the night was reportedly claimed by this fan.
13:54Oh my goodness!
13:57Ohtani's second home run blasted right out of the ballpark.
14:00This guy claims he found it in the bushes.
14:03It was Ohtani's best performance.
14:06It's the best performance in MLB history.
14:09Ohtani, did he!
14:10It's likely Ohtani's third home run ball, caught by Flores, will catch the biggest offer.
14:16What would a ball like that be worth?
14:17That ball is worth three, four, maybe even five million potentially.
14:22This lucky baseball fan says he'll pay for his son's college and help his other family members with his expected windfall.
14:29This is the baseball of baseball.
14:31The first game of the World Series is Friday with the Dodgers taking on the Toronto Blue Jays.
14:37We'll be back with much more Inside Edition after this.

17:22Next Inside Edition.
17:26It's that time of year.
17:27Across America, there are pumpkins decorating front porches.
17:31But beware, you may wake up to find your pumpkin is gone.
17:36Allison Hall tells us about the new fall crime wave sparked by rising pumpkin prices.
17:41America is being hit by a wave of pumpkin porch pirates.
17:48These guys held themselves to pumpkins in a big display outside a school.
17:53One homeowner posted this video.
17:55Shame on you guys.
17:56That's my one-year-old's pumpkin.
17:58So, why all the pumpkin thefts?
18:01Well, prices could be a big reason.
18:03While pumpkin patches like this one at the Queens County Farm Museum in New York are holding the line on costs,
18:10nationally, pumpkins are generally more expensive than last year.
18:14I'm like, my God, our pumpkins are gone.
18:16Jess Grolo says this guy absconded with two pumpkins that her daughter Leah had grown on the family's property in Michigan.
18:24How did seven-year-old Leah feel?
18:26Heart broken.
18:28Mom says the day after she posted the video, the guy who took the pumpkins reappeared.
18:33He did bring back two big pumpkins, and then he looked on the camera and he said sorry.
18:41Sorry.
18:42I forgive him.
18:43I'm spooked.
18:44Leah Melton had a nifty pumpkin display outside her home in Denver.
18:49This guy apparently liked it so much, he took one.
18:52Did you bring in the rest of your pumpkins, or did you leave them out there?
18:55I have about four left.
18:57They're all out on my front porch.
18:59I don't want that to take away from me celebrating, you know, Halloween.
19:02Take that, pumpkin pirates.
19:04Sorry.
