00:00You know what, Luke? This is how bad it is, and this is how badly the Texans got outclassed last
00:06night. I woke up this morning after a couple of hours of sleep, and I wanted to read a couple of
00:13quick articles and, you know, reflecting on some of the things that the broadcasters were saying
00:18at the end of the game. I have no appetite right now for saying something like, well,
00:23the Texans' defense played well enough to win the game. No, they didn't! They did not!
00:30They got you garbage turnovers. They did some good things, but they allowed that this Texans team
00:35after a bye week showed up, and on the defense, on the first two drives of the game, allowed a 70-plus
00:43yard touchdown drive, and then on the next drive, they allowed an 80-plus yard touchdown drive. They
00:48allowed three touchdown drives in the Seahawks' first four possessions. The third one was on a
00:53short field, albeit, but a field goal is, like, you can't do that when you've got an offense that is
01:02just so pathetically not on the same level as the Seahawks that they really shouldn't have even been
01:07allowed in the building. They should have gone, I wish the Seahawks had gone all Dave Portnoy on them
01:12and not allowed the Texans' offense in the building, the way Ohio State didn't allow Dave Portnoy in the
01:17building. There was, man, what a, when you're worried about whether your team is really, truly
01:23ready to crack that glass ceiling and be in the upper echelon of teams in the NFL, they couldn't
01:29have been more generous in giving us a conclusive answer on this. What a horrible, what a horrible
01:36performance, and I'm not excusing the defense. I'm not, now when you're, you're supposed to have
01:41this awesome set of cornerbacks that, oh, they're disrespected by the national media. You let Jackson
01:47Smith and Jigba do exactly the same thing that Jackson Smith and Jigba is doing to every other
01:53defense that they face this year. No, unacceptable. Yeah, yeah, certainly unacceptable. We got the next
01:59four hours to break it down. We're also here for you as well, the Texans fan, 713-572-4610 to text the
02:06show. You can also get to us on YouTube and Twitch as well. We can act as that proverbial couch for
02:12you in the therapist's office today because the texts, the messages are already rolling in as soon
02:17as we hit the air saying Texans suck in all capitals. Nick Caley is trash. CJ is regressing by
02:24the minute. That was painful to watch. Awful game, awful coach, awful quarterback. Seven and 10 is our
02:29ceiling. These are some of the messages coming in in the last couple of moments here from you Texans
02:35fans listening out there. Appreciate you waking up all night after that game last night and still
02:41unable to go to bed because of just how pitiful of a performance it was. Not as close as the final
02:45score indicates. I would say that and to me it's fitting that it's today because I think this is
02:52it's rocket season now for me to be honest with you. This is NBA season. I'm sorry to the Texans. I
02:57know it's early enough in the year to turn things around but when you're two and four and the four
03:02losses have come against the four good teams you've faced and the offense has looked as pitiful
03:06in those four games averaging 15 points per game against the four good teams you've played.
03:12That's why I said this was the last chance last night for me to buy into what this team can
03:16accomplish this year because if you can't win these games and you play as poorly as you did last
03:21night on primetime there's no reason for me to ever believe that suddenly next three games against
03:27three winning teams they're just going to come out flip a switch and start playing winning
03:30football against good teams. If the the most distressing thing about last night is that at
03:36least in the first three games you could say all right well if the offense gets it going then they
03:42they were down to the wire in those three games and all you needed is a little bit of advancement or
03:48improvement by the offense and some clutch plays by the defense in the fourth quarter of those first
03:53three games and maybe maybe you actually win those games and it feels it feels like they've taken a
03:59definitive step backwards and I guess the only thing I'm thinking about is hell hey yeah they're
04:05not ready for primetime but uh noon it's sunday hey this team this team shows up when it's noon on a
04:13sunday and you're playing at home you got a real chance and let's see could you beat mac jones if
04:20that's if that's who the quarterback ends up being um man i the offensive line just getting so
04:28physically manhandled by a really good defensive line we talked about it all week long about how good
04:33the how physical the seahawks defensive line is but they they just they they had no answers and there's a
04:42part of me that wants to give nick cayley a little bit of an excuse in that all right they can't pass
04:48protect they can't run block what exactly is the proper play call but every time in short yardage
04:56situations when they and when he decides to just run get stuffed at the line of scrimmage and then
05:02just decide to run it right back uh doing the same thing the next play i have a real i have a really
05:08really hard time feeling like he's not just throwing stuff at the wall and seeing what sticks it's just
05:13there's nothing about the offense right now including cj stroud who that gives me any kind
05:19of confidence versus the better teams in the nfl two for 15 on third down all one for four on fourth
05:26down throw that in there as well i mean they got some garbage yards late in the game but there was
05:30a point there in the fourth quarter where they had about 150 total yards of offense before a couple
05:34those late drives that got them an extra 100 yards we'll zero more in on stroud a little bit later on but
05:40to your point on kaylee in this offense well first off we certainly got our answer we've been
05:44wondering the last two weeks how much can we take from those last two wins how much of that was the
05:49opponent how much of that was the texans improving and i think we clearly got our answer that those two
05:55games are pretty meaningless this team seemed to agree last night and to your point about mac jones i
06:00mean when you look back they beat uh um cam ward and they they beat uh cooper rush were the two
06:06quarterbacks they were able to beat and when they've played some better quarterbacks stafford
06:09baker last night uh sam darnold now it's hard to believe but he's in playing in that category of
06:15the better quarterbacks in the league you know that's where the texans uh have lost these games
06:19and the offenses have not looked nearly as good against teams that don't have two of the worst
06:23defenses in the league so first off we certainly answered the question after you know 15 days of
06:28wondering that that was more about the opponents and the texans actually apparently improving right
06:33right and uh i i the biggest thing too is that and i'm probably going to harp on the defense
06:38more than i should because they did do some good things in that game last night um you know danico
06:43autry specifically did some really good things in that game but the that aziz alshire hit on the
06:51second series which ended up being a touchdown but could have been uh the the play could the the
06:57series could have been stopped right there for they were in field goal position there i believe
07:01um but i i like there's aziz alshire doesn't get the benefit of the doubt anymore i mean i saw people
07:08making an argument that hey he had made contact inbounds and hey hey but what about sam darnold
07:14had had his hand on aziz alshire's shoulder pad are you serious are we going to give aziz alshire the
07:20benefit of the doubt on a late hit out of bounds like no he's an habitual line stepper and it's been
07:26established as such but he's supposed to be the guy who's the the the leader of the team and oh my
07:31gosh he's such an incredible dude and it is it's he's impressive in a lot of regards but they've got
07:36a lack of discipline on it cannot they cannot afford to do those things when you're relying on that part of
07:44the the the team that side of the ball to be the strength that carries you through whatever struggles
07:50they're having on offense that's the i mean for me luke my biggest overall takeaway after the first
07:56half and at the end of the game was just that this the seahawks team is so much better coached uh i i in
08:04so many ways the the level of execution by the offense the level of execution by their defense
08:11they're just a more polished and more professional football team and i know there's almost no level of
08:18the team unless you can think of one right now that that i feel good about after that game
08:24other than the defense's ability to create big plays but some of those plays i'm just i i look
08:30at them almost like the same as garbage time production out of an offense like all right you
08:34did all those things after you had already committed the original sin of allowing three touchdowns on the
08:40first four series yeah i'm with you on the coaching that was my biggest takeaway that was what
08:45you had 15 days to prepare right what what were you doing that the offense took that big of a step
08:50back and also i mean domico ryans i don't get what they were doing at the end of the game chose not
08:53to kick an onside kick kick it deep didn't kick it out of bounds let the seahawks return it to waste
08:59the two-minute warning you only have one timeout remaining and then it's a fitting end where i don't
09:04know if i necessarily agreed with the call but it's a fitting end with the way the texans played last
09:08night to have that game end on this you know the penalty of settle jumping on the pile talk about lack of
09:13discipline again you you wonder why they didn't kick it out of bounds there they ignored the
09:19instructions of his coach apparently so that's where we'll hear from domico in the next uh in the
09:25next segment but i did from what i can tell that uh he answered that come on that he was supposed to
09:31kick it out of bounds there so uh yeah just a complete breakdown like every step along the way
09:37from the top of the organization on down nick casario will not escape our scrutiny this morning
09:42because that offensive line this rotation at left guard where apparently we're going to take the
09:47first half of the season to figure out uh if who or if they even have a good left guard in there
09:53all of these things are things that yeah a lot of people listening right now could have seen uh from
09:59a mile away and i i deluded myself into thinking that the offensive line look they can be better than
10:05they were last year as long as they're well coached and as long as everybody's on the same page
10:09and that's not what it looked like last night i they just they were not ready i i don't know what
10:15which which part of the team was ready to go and kick off was there a time was there a part of that
10:21i mean below hey hey dave we get braxton barrios back yeah let's just go ahead and throw him out there
10:27he's a former all pro he doesn't know i was just hoping i was just glad when he caught the ball as a
10:33turner meanwhile jalen noel is showing up at times during the game um and i like maybe j do i give
10:41it who do i give a game ball to daniko autry i guess is that who did you know who they made the
10:45player of the game yeah i don't know the only post game i was i know i don't i was looking at just
10:51even the box score before i went to bed last night thinking like who actually played well the only guy
10:54i honestly thought at least on the offensive side was dalton
10:56i think he had as many receptions as targets every time they threw the ball to him
11:03it was something successful that was about it uh otherwise yeah daniko you know special teams makes
11:09another uh somewhat of a big play blocking the kick but that's about it yeah it was daniko autry too
11:15right that was uh like that pretty much entirely their whole uh like most of the highlights i can
11:20think of i mean darry darry i honestly my the biggest surprise to me honestly was that jackson
11:25smith and jigba just ran roughshod like he did i thought i thought that if anything the texans were
11:32going to be in danger of focusing so much on limiting jackson smith and jigba that that maybe
11:38they'd seep yardage elsewhere but he was just he was everything and credit to him i mean he's he's a
11:46phenomenal receiver i just didn't expect kamari lassiter and derrick stingley to look so frozen in
11:53place like they just looked frozen at times and the entire secondary just looked like they like
12:01they were caught by surprised by things and i don't know i feel like yeah they had two weeks
12:05to actually think about this stuff i'm just a i'm just a stupid old man i'm just uh i'm just a guy on
12:12his couch trying not to fall asleep um but i they looked as unprepared as i might have been if i were back
12:17there playing cornerback yeah which is what i don't get you have that extra time and look i know this
12:21is a gambling stat which is why i found it uh last week before the game but it still speaks to teams
12:27playing better than even expected teams that are are coming off 15 days of rest which the texans
12:33did and are playing on the road like the texans did
12:37in 11 against the spread the last 20 years now again that's a gambling stat that's just against
12:44the spread not winning the games but you're covering the spread almost 70 percent of the time and if
12:49you're covering the spread that means you're performing better than even expectations right
12:53so a lot of those teams won those games yeah or some of them probably won those games and the
12:58texans were only three point underdogs last night so if they were to fit that trend they would most
13:03likely have won or lost by one or two points and instead they lost by more you know they didn't
13:09cover the spread they lost by nearly double digits in a game that again like i said i don't think was
13:13even as close as that final score indicates the texans got a lot of breaks along the way
13:17uh they they made their own mistakes the texans did but you know the two safeties that weren't
13:22safeties uh the there was a strip sack of stroud that because of like a defensive hold got wiped out
13:28yeah you know it could have been a lot worse those those two near safeties which i don't like and the
13:33second one was it it it took an engineering degree to figure out exactly what happened on all of that
13:38um yeah that that's the worst thing to feel lucky about like oh we got a lucky break
13:43on what a couple of near safeties we almost we almost actually allowed i mean i would i almost
13:50wanted to know i wanted those safeties to happen if i had known the texans were definitely going to
13:54lose the game i wanted those safeties to happen just to find out how rare it is in nfl history for
14:00there to be two safeties allowed in the first half of a football game how rare a safety is you're rare
14:08it is so rare they hardly ever happened and it felt like every other series the texans were in
14:13danger of giving up a safety in that game it was unbelievable yeah it was the first night almost
14:19two safeties you know which play when we talk about the lack of discipline the the play that got me the
14:24most in the second half was when derrick singly got his interception um stiff arm jackson smith and
14:30jig bun you got flagged for i don't know like i i i maybe i'm just uh maybe i'm a grumpy old man i
14:37thought you were allowed to stiff arm i don't think he grabbed the face mask or anything he got
14:40up underneath it but then christian harris shoving jackson smith and jig bun into his onto the bench
14:48is one of the weirder things i think i've seen in a football game like what christian harris what
14:53what are you doing what the hell was that then you get the official for any of you that fell asleep it
15:00was one of the weirder things i've seen in a game where i already already seen a bunch of weird
15:04stuff like the official uh puts his arms around jackson smith and jigba it has so he can guard him
15:11from all the angry texans on the sideline it was weird it was really weird it's something i've been
15:17saying since domico got here i mean the undisciplined nature of this team they were top five in penalties
15:22each of the last two years they had what 10 penalties last night over 100 penalty yards again
15:26you know and this is a big day this is a big day for people like you because the told you so's
15:32my god you think i can even check my mentions on x today no no i think people reminding me i had
15:39you know what somebody reminded me i try not to get triggered on social media last night and the
15:44weirder things people can call me names and everything and it doesn't really bother me it's when people
15:49do things like point out the obvious where like i'm watching this football game okay i can see exactly
15:56what's going on and uh tweet at me early in the game you mentioned you were eager to see how sting
16:02played after the bye the two biggest plays on the offense have been made that made tonight uh the
16:08seattle offense has made tonight we're both against stingley i'm like i'm like yeah i'm watching the
16:14football game okay i don't yeah i understand what's going on here mr you can just say you told me so
16:21and leave it at that you don't have to try to point it like he's giving me the play-by-play on
16:25what's going on out on the football field i know that's kind of like a magic johnson tweet how magic
16:29johnson always tweets just like the most obvious thing he didn't even add any narrative of like
16:33told you so were you around he just gave you the blow-by-blow like you weren't home he might as well
16:38have said uh seth the texans have 12 points at this point in the game but only six of them were
16:43proffered by the texans offense yeah yeah by the way what stood out to me most about that whole
16:50sideline scuffle uh was the fact that uh most people probably not tommy townsend was trying to
16:56put his helmet on like five consecutive times but he had a man bun and he couldn't fit the helmet on
17:02and he kept trying to adjust it while guys are scuffling over there so he could maybe get in the
17:07fray or just protect himself and eventually he just like let go of the hair you know the let go of his
17:13man bun and let the hair flow and put the helmet on i was like this is just indicative of the entire
17:17night where you know guys are scuffling and you got one of your players over here can't even put
17:23his helmet on to get into the mess because of his man bun it just you know just nothing went right
17:28it was it was a mess he had to set down his dream catcher and uh undo his man bun before he could get
17:35into the what the hell what a frustrating football game it sure if any of you did any of you listening
17:44who didn't get to catch the second half don't go on nfl.com and watch it don't there's no need for
17:50you to even go watch the youtube 15 minute highlight recap or anything everything that
17:54you needed to know about this football game you saw in the first quarter
17:57you
