01:03We are on tour right now with me first in the Gimme Gimmies, Pet Meads, and Kate Clover.
01:09Yeah, it's been really fun.
01:11I love the Gimme Gimmies, and they've been so awesome to have us in this tour.

01:25But we managed to fit all our drums, bass amp, guitar amps, and merch in this car with the three of us and the dog.

01:35Beanie's 15, or she's turning 15 in two days.
01:38So, we try not to leave her anymore since her time's probably limited.
01:44And people know Beanie.
01:47Yeah, she's kind of the heart soul of the band.
01:49She's become our little mascot.

01:51Okay, so this is the primary seat assignments here.

03:24When we're DJing, we're bouncing between full albums and playlists.

03:33Today we rocked a lot of surf rock.
03:35Sometimes it'll be soundtracks.
03:37We've been listening to a lot of grand funk lately.
03:40So, some grand funk records.
03:43What else have we been listening to?
03:45Well, today we were driving through the heartland of America.
03:49We listened to some Budweiser rock today.
03:51Well, the tour is called Wet Hot American Summer.
03:54And we rode over a river with speedboats in it.
03:57So, I wanted to listen to American rock and roll.

04:00So, it was Foghat.
04:01It was like BTO or something like that.
04:03Uh-huh.
04:04And we did that for a little bit just to feel the vibe of the tour.
04:08Yeah.
04:09But, yeah, we listened to a lot of everything.
04:11A lot of Song Exploder podcasts.
04:13We love Conan O'Brien, so we listen to his show a lot on the drives.
04:18Yeah.
04:19You know when you get burnt out and you're just not paying attention to the music anymore?
04:22That's when we put the podcast on.
04:23Yeah.
04:24We listen to a lot of Conan on the early morning drives.
04:27Uh-huh.
04:28All right.
04:29This is Captain Quack.
04:30We got him at a diner in Cincinnati.
04:33And if you eat the diner, they give you a duck.
04:36Yeah.
04:37Every time you eat there, you get a duck.
04:38So, we left it here.
04:39And we didn't know about the Jeep Ducks until later.
04:41But he just stays there.
04:42It's not glued on.
04:43But he's almost turned white now.

04:45You can see how the coloring has changed from the sun.

04:50And then, so, pretty much whoever's driving,

04:55Because it's easy access.

04:59So, passenger, driver, drinks are here.

05:06And then the rider food, we just hoard.

05:12So, I packed my lunch box on this one.
05:15So, I could pack my, uh, pear shibbles with my little ice pack.
05:19And have it from day to day.
05:22And I'll have to throw it away at the end of the night.

05:28I'll put it on a budget.

05:32We've been getting, we don't even drink that much.
05:34And they've been getting us a 12 pack every night.

05:45This is a crazy story.
05:46So, um, on the way to this tour, Leti and Pat, they're over in Ireland.
05:51But I'm back in San Diego.
05:53And I have to take the van from San Diego to Denver to meet them.
05:56And so, um, a couple days before, Leti's like, hey, can you grab some merch?
06:00Like, pop it in the van.
06:02I'm like, yeah, of course.
06:04Uh, well, it was like 19 boxes.
06:07So, um, we had to rearrange everything and kind of make sure.
06:11It was kind of left, right, bottom to top, completely packed.
06:15This seat was not an option, really.
06:19So, when, um, picking them up in Denver, we had to figure something out.
06:23Or else one of us had to get strapped to the roof or something.
06:26So, um, the Kimmys were sweet enough to let us stash some stuff in their van in the meantime.
06:33So, from, from basically, like, the whole thing right here is just a wall of stuff.
06:39So, you really get, like, this spot right here.
06:42And that's pretty much it.
06:43But you have an arm rest.
06:44Oh, yeah, I know.
06:45I get to rest on the stuff and I'll, like, sometimes sleep on it.
06:48I'll be like, wow.

06:50I looked back at you today to see what you were doing back there because I was bored.
06:54You were passed out.
06:56Because you can't sleep like that here.
06:58There's nothing for you to lean on in the front.
07:00And when Sarah drives, I take the back seat and let you, in the seat.
07:05And I'm, I usually have the dog if I'm not driving.
07:08I have yet to sit there.

07:14So, I'm just going to explain.

07:16You should have told this story about us getting pulled over the other day.

07:19She did get pulled over on the first day that we were all together on the tour.
07:25So, this is, usually I put a blanket down so she's extra comfy.
07:31And then you have this little thing here.
07:36And then we just drop her in like this.
07:43And then it goes right to sleep.

07:49My first shift driving, she's been giving me such a hard time telling me I have jet lag
07:53because I just got home from Europe.
07:55And I get pulled over within the hour.
07:58And the cop comes over to this side because the freeway's there.
08:01Rolls the window down.
08:02He sees Beanie on her seatbelt.
08:04And I was like, I could have sworn you were following me.
08:07He's like, you know you swerved back there.
08:09I'm like, I probably swerved because I noticed a cop tailing me.
08:13And I told him I was right.
08:14You did.
08:15You followed me.
08:16So, he pet the dog and he let us go.
08:19Without consent.

08:22Well, um, Sarah started the tour out.
08:27And we met her halfway.
08:29So, she kind of decided on the, figured out the initial Tetris.
08:36Usually that's how it stays for the rest of the tour.
08:38Yeah.
08:39It's kind of different each tour because it depends on how much merch you're bringing
08:42or whatever gear everyone's bringing.
08:44So, the shapes and sizes of everything will change each time.
08:48So, it's kind of really helpful in the very beginning to kind of figure out what's going to fit where.
08:52So, that way you have your system for the rest of the tour.
08:55Yeah.
08:56By like the tenth show, like everything is just like, you know exactly where every little thing goes.

09:01We're on show number three.
09:02So, we're starting to get it.

09:05But, it's usually the two of us kind of loading and then Letty's kind of getting all the.

09:28So, every night you can send the venue an email saying I would like some water, some chips,
09:37some snacks, I like apples.

09:41Oh, she's settling in for her bed.

09:47But, what do you usually like on the rider?
09:50I like water.
09:53I don't know.
09:54What have we been getting?
09:56Coffee.
09:57Yeah.
09:58We just started asking for coffee because it saves us so much money in the morning.

10:02Like if we go to Starbucks, that's like 15 bucks of coffee.
10:05We usually try to figure out how we can make this most sustainable.
10:08So, what are we spending our most money on?
10:10Is it coffee?

10:12Is it chips or whatever?
10:13And from there, we'll just kind of make a list.
10:16A grocery list or whatever.

10:18Then they supply it for us.
10:19Which is super sweet.
10:20We bought this a while ago at Target.
10:22It's a way to quickly make coffee.
10:24And so we save so much money with this thing.
10:27And then we ask for iced coffee because it's hot and it's summertime.
10:31But yeah, there's all kinds of stuff.
10:34There's chips from yesterday, blueberries.

10:38I'm trying to live solely operating through.
10:40My electrolytes.
10:41When it's super hot and you're sweating all the time.

11:16So that's been really neat to kind of have that little bit of downtime to get to explore
11:21and kind of hit spots you never would on a regular basis.
